  • 729 - Hang Time Podcast (Episode 226) Back Together Again

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS It took a while, nearly two months, but the crew is back together again. And just in time for the latest Game of the Century on Super Bowl eve (Thunder visiting the Warriors), a vintage effort from Kobe Bean Bryant and next week's All-Star extravaganza in Toronto. That's right, The Hang Time Podcast crew is reunited this week to discuss, debate and drill down on the hottest topics around the league and yes, that means the elusive Rick Fox has finally been located. He's been busy the past couple of months doing prep work for the All-Star Game's visit to his native Toronto (where he swears we're going to be on the VIP list at Drakes restaurant and every other hot spot throughout All-Star Weekend). We needed the entire crew to sort out the mess in Phoenix (Earl Watson taking over for Jeff Hornacek), to address the rumors that Kevin Durant could be headed to join Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in free agency, the state of the Lakers (and their precocious rookie D'Angelo Russell, who is caught in the middle of a tug of war between his coach Byron Scott and the man who trained him in the lead up to the Draft, Clippers' analyst Don MacLean), the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers under Tyronn Lue (and the new super friends LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love) and so much more. some wicked resistance from the champs, who shouldn't have to do anything else to convince the remaining non-believers that luck had nothing to do with their championship run last season. Crazy season (the NBA trade deadline) is near, so you'll have to forgive us for diving in on so many different topics. But it's been so rare this season that we've been at full strength that we simply could not resist. Check it all out on Episode 226 of The Hang Time Podcast where the crew gets back together again. • 728 - Hang Time Podcast (Episode 225) Featuring Marc J. Spears

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS Is there anyone else? Anyone else? Because the Golden State Warriors are ready and willing to do horrible things to you on the basketball court. Just ask the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs, yes the Spurs, who have all felt the wrath of Stephen Curry and the Warriors recently. If you think you are coming for the Warriors' crown, you better brace yourself for some wicked resistance from the champs, who shouldn't have to do anything else to convince the remaining non-believers that luck had nothing to do with their championship run last season. This is a juggernaut, and potentially one of the NBA's all-time great teams, provided they finish what they have started this season. Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports helps us put it all in context on Episode 225 of The Hang Time Podcast, where we examine the Warriors and their monstrous run as well as the fallout in Cleveland from David Blatts firing and Tyronn Lues hiring the latest drama in the seemingly never-ending saga that is LeBron James and his return to The Land. We give you all that and much more on Episode 225 of The Hang Time Podcast featuring Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports. • 727 - Hang Time Podcast (Episode 224) Green or Griffin?

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS Draymond Green or Blake Griffin? Who would you take between these two elite power forwards, each with their own unique set of skills, to start your team? Do you ride with the perennial All-Star, the four-time All-NBA pick and sure thing that is Griffin? Or do you rock with the NBA champion, the walking triple-double/human jack-knife that is Green? It's a great debate and one that we delve into on Episode 224 of The Hang Time Podcast. There really is no wrong answer, when you think about it. Both Griffin and Green are on the short list of players at their position who are universally considered game changers. They do it in different ways, of course. But their value to their respective teams cannot be disputed. Would the Golden Warriors have risen to a championship level without the contributions of Green? Even with All-Stars like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson doing their thing, the easy answer is no, absolutely not. Would the Los Angeles Clippers have scratched and clawed their way out of the abyss the past few years without the rise and shine of Griffin? Nope. Chris Paul is the man that stirs the drink, but even he admits that the Clippers go as Griffin goes. We talk Green and Griffin, recap the Warriors' smashing of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers during the NBA's Martin Luther King Jr. Day showcase, discuss our picks for the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star rosters and much more on Episode 224 of The Hang Time Podcast. • 726 - Hang Time Podcast (Episode 223) Featuring Dominique Wilkins

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS Comparing NBA eras, be it individuals or teams, is often a painstaking process that relies more on your intuition and sharp eye than it does any real science. That's one reason why Hall of Famers like Dominique Wilkins, do their best to stay away from the ghost chasing many of us do when we try to rate the basketball legends of the past and present. So when Larry Bird is asked to assess his vaunted 1986 Boston Celtics and the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors, there's really not a right or wrong answer. There is only his perception of what those teams accomplish in their respective eras and the fantasy of what it would be like to see Bird, Kevin McHale and Dennis Johnson match up against Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Same goes for any glorified rankings of the top players in league history at any position (#ESPNrank is stirring up fantastic debates these days) or any other attempt to reflect the current crop of superstars and teams against their historical counterparts. Too many of the dynamics have changed from say 30 or 40 years ago to now. There are fare too many variables to get a handle on anything other than a theory about who would come out on top in any hypothetical equation. None of that stopped us from quizzing Wilkins about these very topics, and so much more, Episode 223 of The Hang Time Podcast. Just because there are very few easy answers doesn't mean you don't ask the question. So see if you can make sense of it all on this week's episode. • 725 - Hang Time Podcast (Episode 222) Featuring Greg Anthony

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS The Commissioner has spoken. He believes Kobe Bryant belongs on center stage at NBA All-Star Weekend next month in Toronto. And judging by the returns from the All-Star balloting, the fans not only agree with Adam Silver, they plan on making sure it happens. They'll get no argument from us. We also believe that 20 years of stellar service, on and off the court, as one of the league's global ambassadors deserves the royal treatment at Kobe's final All-Star Game appearance. NBA TV analyst Greg Anthony is on board with that plan as well. He agrees that the All-Time greats deserve to go out the right way, especially during All-Star Weekend, the same way Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan did before Kobe. Anthony joins us on Episode 222 of The Hang Time Podcast, our first show for 2016, where we also discuss the plight of Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver and his millennial problems, the state of affairs around the league, the playoff picture in the Eastern and Western Conferences. We try to make sense of it all on the first installment of The Hang Time Podcast for this calendar year.
