"Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures...But when God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us...Because of His grace He made us right in His sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life." (Titus 3:3-5, 7) The book of Titus is a little pastoral letter in the back of the Bible that's easy to miss. Yet it has some great advice from the Apostle Paul for church leaders, and it also reinforces a few key doctrines and kingdom truths. In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we dive in.

"Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise." (Galatians 4:21-23) The Bible teaches that every believer has two natures: the old, fallen nature of Adam and the new, perfect nature of Jesus Christ. What this means is that, in a sense, Christians are bipolar. We explore that idea in this 20-Minute Bible Study.

"He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might..."(2 Thessalonians 1:8-9) Some passages of the Bible are just unavoidably clear: Those who do not know God will face eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. The opening of Paul's 2nd letter to the Thessalonians is one of those passages. Or is it? In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we go deeper in order to make sure our doctrine is true.

(Psalm 8:3-4) As those of us who promote our faith in public know, the world is full of people who think Christian beliefs are anti-science and unsupported by evidence. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also ... You cannot serve God and wealth." (Matthew 19: 23-24) A listener wrote to chastise us, saying: "The kingdom of God is not the same thing as the kingdom of heaven ...you should not be trying to teach the two kingdoms as being the same.” Is he correct? "'For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.'” (John 3:17-18) How does salvation happen? Does it happen in the heart with a feeling? In the mind with a concept? Do you have to confess with your mouth for it to be real? Or perhaps demonstrate it’s real by being baptized? "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love." (1 John 4:18) Should Christians fear God? “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. "[D]o you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?" (1 Corinthians 6: 2-3) Should Christians judge others? The Bible seems to say yes ... and also no. "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) Should Christians divide the Word of God? "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple … So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions. “For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression." "Answering them, He said, 'Who are My mother and My brothers?' Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, 'Behold My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.'" (Mark 3:33-35) God is “our Father in heaven.” Christians are our “brothers and sisters in Christ.” In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we discuss the amazing realizations that follow from this understanding of God's family.

“Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14-15) Have you ever been asked: How did you choose your God from the hundreds of other gods? As with all things, the Bible has the answer. In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we go back and see how the Israelites dealt with this question.

"And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, 'Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?' And He said to him, 'What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?' And he answered, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.' And He said to him, 'You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.'" (Luke 10:25-28) Every Christian knows the story of the Good Samaritan. But did you know there's a lesson about the Kingdom in the introduction to that parable? In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we take a closer look.

"Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness … These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: 'Do not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the Samaritans; but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.'" (Matthew 10: 1, 5-6) Everyone knows the Great Commission. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” But did you know that was the second commission? In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we examine the first.

Fact 1: No one knows for sure when Jesus was born. Fact 2: Christmas is not based on a pagan holiday. Fact 3: There’s no need to put the “Christ” back in “Xmas.” Fact 4: There’s no reason to believe there were only three wise men. Fact 5: Jesus wasn’t a newborn when the wise men reached Him. Fact 6: The gifts the wise men brought were symbolic and prophetic. Fact 7: Christmas reminds us that Jesus is the Messiah, the promised King of Kings. But it should also remind us of the promise that we can be kings!

"Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. " (1 John 2:15-16) The Bible commands: Do not love the world. But what does loving the world really mean? And what, exactly, should we be doing to avoid falling into that trap? In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we provide scripture-backed answers to these questions.

"For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. " (1 Corinthians 1:18) Do you know your 'tenses' of salvation? If not, this 20-Minute Bible Study is for you.

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. " (Hebrews 11:6) We must have initial faith in Jesus Christ in order to be saved. But, crucially, we must also continue to believe throughout our lives that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we examine a passage from the Hebrews 'Hall of Faith' to better understand this truth.

"Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." (Hebrews 7:25) The above is a great verse to begin questioning your understanding of the words “salvation” or “save” when they appear in the Bible. These words can have different meanings other than just initial salvation (or salvation from hell). In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we demonstrate this with a closer look at the precise wording of scripture.

"...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9) We are saved by grace through faith and not as a result of works. Yet in the above scripture, it says you must confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord to be saved. Isn’t that a work? In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we discuss and resolve this seeming contradiction.

"But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons." (Galatians 4: 4-5) The phrase most focus on from this passage, typically during the holiday season, is “God sent forth His Son, born of a woman.” This indeed ties in with the Christmas story nicely, but those with spiritual ears will hear clearly the phrase at the end of this passage, which has deep meaning. In this 20-Minute Bible Study, we explain and explore that meaning.
