- 10867 - Take One Teaspoon at Night to Rid Sinus Congestion
Chronic sinus infections can be frustrating and uncomfortable. While many people turn to antibiotics for relief, they may not realize that these medications only target bacteria and can worsen the situation if the infection is fungal.
Fungal infections can be even more problematic, particularly those caused by the invasive fungus Aspergillus. This fungus can break down the lining of your sinus cavities and potentially damage bone and tissue in other areas. It also thrives in environments with oxygen and moisture.
If you have a weakened immune system due to conditions such as diabetes, HIV, or a poor diet high in sugar and refined carbs, Aspergillus can take advantage and cause further harm. In fact, it has been known to target and downgrade vitamin D receptors in the body, leading to a compromised immune system.
To combat this fungal issue, you can try incorporating natural remedies into your routine. One powerful remedy is garlic oil, which has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungus and bacteria. Oregano oil is also effective in fighting bacteria, yeast, and mold. Both can be diluted with coconut oil which contains compounds that boost the immune system and have anti-fungal properties.
Add 5 drops of garlic oil and 5 drops of oregano oil to one teaspoon. Then, add just enough coconut oil until you have one full teaspoon of this mixture. Consider taking this daily for one month to allow it to gradually balance out your body's microorganisms. You can also include xylitol, curcumin, or aloe vera for added benefits. Blue light therapy may also be beneficial, as well as red light therapy if you've had surgery on your sinuses.

Tue, 23 Apr 2024 - 05min - 10866 - Are Expensive Eggs Really Worth It?
In this podcast, we’ll examine all of the different types of chicken eggs available in the store. The different labels and classifications can be confusing.
Around 65% of all chickens used for laying chicken eggs are in cages. Caged chickens are required to get at least 67 square inches of space, which is a little over 8 x 8 inches. New California caged chickens get a few more inches but not even one square foot of space.
Cage-free chickens are not in a cage but are generally confined to a barn with many other chickens. Each chicken gets one square foot of space.
Free-range chickens get 2 square feet of space. They have free range in a barn and typically have access to the outdoors, but it’s unclear if they have access to outdoor grass or if the area is cement.
Pasture-raised chickens get 10 feet by 10 feet of outdoor space.
When chickens don’t get enough space, their cortisol and adrenaline levels increase. This is unhealthy for the chickens and causes them to produce less healthy chicken eggs.
When looking for chicken eggs at the store, terms like “natural,” “vegetarian-fed,” and different grades of chicken eggs mean nothing!
Conventional eggs come from chickens that are fed chicken feed made of corn and soy. This means their food is GMO, sprayed with chemicals, and very high in omega-6 fatty acids. The eggs are then much higher in omega-6 fatty acids. Foods high in omega-6 fatty acids affect the mitochondria, the nervous system, and the heart. They also create inflammation in the body.
If you can't raise backyard chickens and you can't get to a farmer’s market, look for organic pasture-raised eggs. It will be more expensive, but it's worth the investment in your health.
Mon, 22 Apr 2024 - 06min - 10865 - Preventing Dental Plaque Formation Forever: Simple Solution
In this podcast, I’m going to tell you how to stop dental plaque formation in its tracks. Dental plaque is a biofilm of microbes. A biofilm is a calcium shell built to protect a group of microbes. Plaque is one of the primary causes of gingivitis, bad breath, and tooth decay. You can brush and floss regularly and still get plaque!
Your mouth contains the second-largest group of microbes in your body. The majority of these microbes are known as commensal, so they’re not necessarily friendly but also not unfriendly. If you kill them, you could end up with a candida infection or oral thrush.
Plaque develops when this friendly relationship turns into a pathogenic relationship. Dental plaque biofilms can develop under stress! Poor diet, sugar consumption, smoking, alcohol, and antibiotics can also contribute to dental plaque formation.
Certain chemicals can mimic antibiotics in the mouth. Ironically, chlorhexidine, the main chemical in mouthwash, mimics antibiotics in the mouth. It also increases acidity and the risk of tooth decay.
Fluoride is in the majority of toothpastes and our water supply. It’s been around for 60 years, but there have never been any randomized controlled trials on fluoride in our water.
Fluoride is not controlled by the FDA, CDC, EPA, or the American Dental Association—it's controlled by a private entity. It’s best to filter your water to remove fluoride.
You’ll want to get the good microbes back into your mouth to remove dental plaque. Consume probiotic-rich foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, and kefir.
If you chew gum, make sure to choose xylitol gum.

Sun, 21 Apr 2024 - 05min - 10864 - The One Big REGRET I Had in Practice Was...
In this video, I'm going to share one of the biggest regrets I had in practice. I used to recommend 1200 mg of calcium, especially to post-menopausal women for bone health and people with osteoporosis or osteopenia.
People with osteoporosis lack calcium in their bones, but every osteoporotic person has excess calcium outside of the bone.
Fifteen independent clinical trials found that people taking an extra 500 mg of calcium per day had a 30% increased risk for heart attacks and 20% for strokes. One study that followed 61,000 people over 19 years showed that people taking over 1400 mg of calcium per day had a 114% increased risk of heart attack.
The average multivitamin is packed full of calcium carbonate. Coincidentally, ⅓ of all adults in America have calcification in their arteries. Consuming excess calcium doesn't mean it will go straight to your bones!
Calcium has a vital role in cellular communication. There is 1000 to 10,000 times more calcium outside the cell than inside the cell. Too much intracellular calcium leads to cell death. In fact, calcium accumulation is an independent risk factor of all-cause mortality.
Instead of taking large amounts of calcium for bone loss, vitamin C could help.
At least 6000 mg of vitamin C daily, broken up into 2 to 4 doses, may help improve bone health. Adequate vitamin C may help suppress osteoclasts—the cells that break down your bone. It can also help the absorption of calcium into the bone.

Sat, 20 Apr 2024 - 07min - 10863 - The Cause of Your Sinus Stuffiness (Congestion) Is Hiding in Your Pillow
Today, we’re going to talk about one of the hidden causes of chronic sinus congestion. Microorganisms in your pillow could be causing sinus pressure, nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, and snoring!
The average pillow has 7000 spores of 4 to 16 different types of fungus, especially if your pillow is made of synthetic material.
The fungus found in your pillow is a frequent cause of rhinitis, or inflammation of the sinuses. The fungus feeds on nitrogen and dead skin—and can affect the respiratory system.
Fungus spores are activated by moisture, so your sweat, drool, and wet hair intensify the problem. Spores can even grow roots into the fibers of your pillow.
Here are 4 signs that fungus in your pillow may be causing sinus congestion:
1. Discoloration on the pillow
2. Moisture on the pillow
3. Odors from the pillow
4. Sudden change in mucus membranes (difficulty breathing, stuffy nose)
To solve this problem, wash your pillow at least once monthly and ensure it’s completely dried. It’s also essential to clean your pillowcase at least once per week. Your pillow won’t last forever, so be sure to replace it once yearly.

Fri, 19 Apr 2024 - 03min - 10862 - Can BERBERINE Be a “Natural Ozempic” for Weight Loss?
Today, we’re going to talk about berberine. People all over social media are calling berberine a natural Ozempic, but if you do a quick Google search, you may have doubts.
There are several claims that berberine can give you diarrhea, gas, constipation, and stomachaches, and can even be fatal in large amounts. There are also claims that berberine can’t work as a substitute for Ozempic because there isn’t enough research.
Berberine is a phytochemical found in various plants that has numerous health benefits, especially for blood sugar. It has even been compared to Metformin, a popular drug used to treat type 2 diabetes.
The potential health benefits of berberine:
• Helps with insulin resistance
• Helps lower blood sugar
• Helps to activate vitamin D
• Supports longevity
• Has antiarrhythmic properties
• Helps decrease the risk of a fatty liver
•Has neuroprotective properties
• Helps make chemotherapy/radiation more efficient
• Reduces gluconeogenesis
Many health problems are related to problems with the mitochondria. Berberine increases the number of mitochondria (mitochondrial biogenesis), helps clean up damaged mitochondria, and makes mitochondria more efficient.
Berberine, in small amounts, has very few, if any, side effects! Combined with keto, intermittent fasting, and exercise, you could experience significant results when taking berberine.

Thu, 18 Apr 2024 - 04min - 10861 - How to Stop Addictions (Nicotine, Alcohol, & Drugs)
Addiction to substances like nicotine, alcohol, and drugs can be incredibly difficult to overcome. These addictions harm our mental and physical health and deplete essential nutrients in the body, particularly NAD.
NAD is a crucial coenzyme involved in over 500 different chemical reactions in the body. It plays a vital role in energy production, DNA repair, and maintaining proper cellular functioning. However, addiction to substances like nicotine, alcohol, and drugs can significantly deplete NAD levels in the body.
Symptoms of NAD deficiency include fatigue, muscle soreness, weight gain, difficulty sleeping and concentrating, brain fog, and decreased stamina. These symptoms can make it even harder for someone to overcome an addiction.
To combat NAD deficiency, consider taking vitamin B3, also known as niacin. Niacin helps increase NAD levels in the body, improving energy, helping to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings, and aiding in addiction recovery.
Some people may experience a flushing response on their skin when taking niacin, which can be uncomfortable. In this case, no-flush niacin can be used instead.
In addition to supplementing with niacin, there are other ways to increase NAD levels in the body, such as intermittent fasting, following a healthy ketogenic diet, and regular exercise.
These lifestyle changes can support addiction recovery and overall well-being. In some cases, clinics offer IV therapy for NAD to help with addiction recovery. However, this can be expensive and not accessible to everyone.

Wed, 17 Apr 2024 - 04min - 10860 - The MOST Overlooked Cause of Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Around 90% of all hypertension is essential hypertension, which means it has no known cause.
Southern states have the highest risk of hypertension and the highest risk of strokes. They also have a much higher rate of zinc-deficient soils.
Zinc deficiency can cause hypertension. Doctors are often hyper-focused on reducing sodium to lower blood pressure, and people are surprised to find their blood pressure does not go down after reducing their salt intake.
If you’re deficient in zinc, your sense of taste and smell is often inhibited. This might cause you to add more salt to your food and crave junk food. The average American indeed consumes too much sodium from junk food and not enough potassium, but zinc deficiency is also a significant issue.
ACE 2 inhibitors are the number one blood pressure medication. This type of medication depletes zinc, potentially causing more blood pressure problems. Diuretics, antibiotics, antacids, and birth control pills also deplete zinc.
Zinc is a helper mineral for making nitric oxide, a vasodilator that helps relax the blood vessels. Zinc is required for nitric oxide to work. Zinc is also necessary to make certain antioxidants, including SOD, which helps to keep inflammation at bay.
You can become deficient in zinc by consuming food grown in zinc-deficient soils or if you don’t consume shellfish and red meat. Sugar, refined carbs, whole grains, alcohol, and fructose deplete zinc. Weak stomach acid interferes with mineral absorption, which can contribute to a zinc deficiency.
Oysters and other shellfish, as well as red meat, are the best sources of zinc.
Tue, 16 Apr 2024 - 05min - 10859 - The #1 Vitamin Deficiency Behind Migraines (MUST KNOW)
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the #1 vitamin deficiency behind migraines. Migraines can cause debilitating pain and hypersensitivity to smells, sounds, and light. They can also cause nausea and increase the impulse to vomit.
Migraines can be genetic, but this doesn’t mean you have to live with them. You have to understand the epigenetic factors that can potentially help you override this genetic weakness.
There is a connection between under-functioning mitochondria and migraines. This vitamin is involved with an enzyme that helps preserve the aerobic metabolism in your mitochondria. It also helps you build up glutathione.
One of the earliest indications of Parkinson’s disease is the failure of the glutathione mechanism. If you don’t have enough glutathione, it can cause serious damage to your neurons.
Riboflavin (vitamin B2) deficiency is the vitamin deficiency often involved with migraines. If you have a genetic problem in your mitochondria, you may need more vitamin B2. Vitamin B2 helps allow oxygen to work through the mitochondria.
Try taking 400 mg of vitamin B2 to help prevent migraines. If you want to know how to get rid of a migraine if you already have one, try taking 100 mg of vitamin B2 every hour until your migraine symptoms are gone—but don't exceed 400 mg per day.
Sodium deficiencies can also cause migraines. Consuming more sea salt can help. If vitamin B2 doesn’t provide migraine relief, you can also try ginger or turmeric.

Mon, 15 Apr 2024 - 04min - 10858 - Fascinating Insights on Hashimoto's (Hypothyroidism)
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Dimitris Tsoukalas. There’s a chronic condition that’s more prevalent than cardiovascular disease and cancer combined. Autoimmune disease is the most common chronic illness, with over 50 million people suffering from autoimmune conditions in the US.
Autoimmune disease is a condition where the immune system does not recognize certain organs and tissues, so it attacks them. Hashimoto’s is the most common autoimmune disease.
Dr. Tsoukala explains that Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a chronic inflammatory condition in which the immune system attacks and gradually destroys the thyroid gland. This reduces the thyroid's function, leading to hypothyroidism.
Around 26 million people in the United States are suffering from Hashimoto's disease—and 9 out of 10 are women.
One of the first symptoms of Hashimoto’s is low energy. This is because the hormones produced by the thyroid gland regulate metabolism and control the metabolic rate. People with Hashimoto’s also have difficulty regulating body weight because their metabolic rate is slow. Hormonal imbalance and emotional instability are other common symptoms of Hashimoto’s.
All of Dr. Tsoukalas’ patients diagnosed with Hashimoto’s also have vitamin D deficiencies. More than 90% of his Hashimoto’s patients are insulin resistant. Another common problem associated with Hashimoto’s is multiple marginal micronutrient deficiencies. These deficiencies lead to mitochondrial dysfunction.
Dr. Tsoukalas takes a unique and groundbreaking approach with his patients and utilizes metabolomic testing, which tests chemical reactions in the body to help determine any deficiencies.

Sun, 14 Apr 2024 - 23min - 10857 - Fix Mitral Valve Prolapse with this ONE Mineral
Today, we’re going to talk about the #1 nutrient deficiency involved with mitral valve prolapse syndrome. If you have mitral valve prolapse, your heart valves are not opening and closing correctly.
Mitral valve prolapse causes floppy, leaky valves that are large and bulging. This bulging, displaced tissue is called prolapse, which leads to inefficient heart pumping.
Mitral valve prolapse symptoms include weakness, fatigue, palpitations, anxiety, and shortness of breath. It’s often described as idiopathic, which means it has no known cause. Mitral valve prolapse is generally treated with beta-blockers or a calcium channel blocker.
In a double-blind study, 141 subjects with mitral valve prolapse were compared to 40 healthy subjects. Sixty percent of the mitral valve prolapse group had magnesium deficiency compared to only 5% of the healthy subjects.
Low magnesium leads to high adrenaline. It also accelerates the aging of the fibroblast cell, which helps you make collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. As we age, the fibroblast cell is very important for our skin, ligaments, tendons, and valves.
One of the first signs of magnesium deficiency is tetany. Surprisingly, 85% of people with mitral valve prolapse have tetany!
Don’t just rely on the RDA if you’re deficient in magnesium. Try taking 400 mg 2 to 3 times a day, working up to this amount slowly. Also, ensure you’re getting enough vitamin D. Magnesium won’t work without vitamin D!
Avoid sugar and refined carbs because they significantly decrease magnesium.
It takes years for a magnesium deficiency to show up and it can take up to a year to correct. Try magnesium glycinate to increase your magnesium levels over time.

Sat, 13 Apr 2024 - 06min - 10856 - Tonsil Stones: Removing the Deeper Cause
Tonsil stones can be frustrating and embarrassing due to the unpleasant odor they produce in the mouth. However, it's essential to understand the deeper cause of these stones to fully address and prevent them from reoccurring.
Tonsils are small lymphatic tissues located at the back of your throat. They act as the first line of defense against pathogens entering the nose and mouth. The tonsils pick up information from these pathogens and send it to the rest of the immune system, signaling the body to ramp up its defenses.
Unfortunately, many people opt to have their tonsils removed as a quick solution to recurring tonsil issues. However, this can lead to further complications. Without tonsils, our first line of defense against pathogens is removed, making us more susceptible to respiratory tract infections, Hodgekin's lymphoma, and autoimmune conditions.
Furthermore, antibiotics are often prescribed for tonsil infections but only treat bacterial infections. The majority of tonsil infections are caused by viruses, making antibiotics ineffective. This highlights the importance of maintaining a strong immune system to fight viral and bacterial infections.
Swollen tonsils may be seen as a nuisance in children and are often treated with anti-inflammatory medication. However, it's crucial to allow the body to develop acquired immunity through infection. This helps to strengthen the immune system and prevent future tonsil issues.
Research has also shown a correlation between low vitamin D, zinc, and iron levels and inflamed tonsils. These nutrients are crucial in supporting the immune system and fighting infections. Therefore, it’s important to ensure you get enough of these nutrients through a nutritious diet or supplementation.
Vitamin D, in particular, has been found to have potent antimicrobial effects, and a lack of sun exposure has been linked to increased instances of inflamed tonsils. This is especially concerning for children who may not spend enough time outdoors or consume foods rich in vitamin D. Additionally, consuming too many phosphates through soda and processed foods can deplete the body's vitamin D levels.

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 - 06min - 10855 - Plant-Based Meat Scam - Dr. Berg
It's no secret that plant-based meats have been marketed as healthier and more environmentally friendly alternatives to real meat. However, these claims are not entirely accurate.
While plant-based meats contain some nutrients, they simply can’t compare to those found in real meat, such as protein, B vitamins, iron, selenium, and zinc. Plant-based meats may try to replicate these nutrients through added chemicals and synthetic ingredients, but they can never match the natural composition of real meat.
The production process of plant-based meats involves using chemicals and additives that may pose health risks. For example, the Impossible Burger contains yeast that creates a synthetic version of the blood protein heme from soy. This ingredient is classified as a color additive and hasn't been thoroughly tested for safety.
Regarding environmental impact, plant-based meats are often touted as a more sustainable option than real meat. However, they require a lot of resources to produce, including water and land. If we look at California almonds, they use ten times more fresh water than cattle.
On the other hand, real meat production uses resources that would otherwise be wasted. For instance, 85 percent of livestock feed comes from non-human edible materials, including corn stalks, beet pulp, and soybean plants.
Cows play a crucial role in maintaining the health of our land. They can graze on terrain unsuitable for growing crops, and their manure is a natural fertilizer for plants. Removing cows from the equation would negatively impact our food production system. One of the main arguments against real meat is the methane emissions from livestock. When looking at the big picture, these emissions are roughly 2.7 percent, which isn’t significant enough to make a real difference.
These emissions are also part of a natural cycle. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in the soil, which is then consumed by livestock and released as methane. This methane eventually breaks down to become carbon dioxide again, completing the cycle.
Thu, 11 Apr 2024 - 06min - 10854 - The DARK SIDE of Ashwagandha - Dr. Berg
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the side effects and benefits of ashwagandha. Ashwagandha is a powerful herb that helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Along with stress management, ashwagandha has numerous potential health benefits, including the following:
•Reduces nervousness
•Helps reduce cortisol
•Increases VO2 max
•Increases testosterone
•Improves sleep
•Improves recovery
•Lowers blood sugar
•Helps improve insulin resistance
However, there are some things to consider before taking ashwagandha. Avoid ashwagandha if you have a hyperthyroid condition like Graves' disease because ashwagandha speeds up the thyroid.
Because it lowers blood pressure, it’s best to avoid ashwagandha if your blood pressure is already on the low side. If you have low cortisol, you won’t want to push it even lower with ashwagandha. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid ashwagandha.
Don't take ashwagandha if you’re sensitive to nightshades or have a genetic problem that causes you to have too much iron. If you take too much ashwagandha for too long, some people describe feeling no emotion or feeling numb.
Most people who experience adverse ashwagandha side effects have taken it for too long and in high doses. Consider keeping your ashwagandha intake at around 600 mg daily, broken into two 300 mg doses. It’s also best to limit your intake to two months at a time.
Wed, 10 Apr 2024 - 03min - 10853 - The Biggest Research Study Scam
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Eric Westman. Dr. Westman is an M.D. and a Master's-level statistician. He explains how researchers often manipulate data reports by misleadingly presenting information. He also explains the difference between absolute risk and relative risk and how it can be used for this purpose.
Observational studies can also misleadingly present information because they cannot prove causation. Many recent studies in the news demonizing red meat and fasting were observational self-reported studies. These studies involve a person recalling what they ate days, weeks, and even months ago!
What's the purpose of observational studies if they can't prove causation? Observational studies are known as “hypothesis-generating studies," so they generate a hypothesis for a formal experiment.
One of the most recent misleading studies, the Stanford twin experiment, gained popularity on Netflix. The study had several flaws and was funded by a plant-based organization to promote a plant-based diet.
The School of Public Health at Harvard University is researching nutritional epidemiology using observational studies involving diet recall. These studies result in misleading associations between things like red meat and heart disease and red meat and cancer. According to Dr. Westman, nutritional epidemiology only presents weak associations and should not be regarded as fact.
People come to Dr. Westman’s clinic for all sorts of health problems. His clinic has a reputation for everything from improving diabetes and obesity to eliminating chronic heartburn and IBS. Dr. Westman utilizes a low-carb keto diet to help reverse many chronic health conditions.
Dr. Westman aims not only to help his patients but to educate them as well! Dr. Westman created Adapt Your Life Academy, where people can take online courses on various health-related topics, including diabetes, cholesterol, protein, keto cooking, and cancer.

Tue, 09 Apr 2024 - 41min - 10852 - #1 Selling Drug in the World: 27 Billion Dollars
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the best-selling drug in the world: Keytruda.
Keytruda helps your immune system find and kill cancer cells. Keytruda is also used for autoimmune diseases and certain infections. Unlike chemotherapy, Keytruda helps kill cancer cells without killing your immune system.
Keytruda works through immunomodulation. Immunomodulators increase, decrease, or block your immune system.
Immunomodulator drugs have many side effects and don’t work on all types of cancer. Some cancers can become resistant to immunotherapy and stronger with treatment, a phenomenon similar to antibiotic resistance. Immunomodulator drugs don’t target the fuel for cancer or the raw materials necessary to build cancer cells.
There are many natural immunomodulators. In fact, drug companies use research on plant chemicals to develop over 50% of medications.
The following are natural immunomodulators:
• Astragalus
• Reishi mushrooms and other types of mushrooms
• Vitamin D
Dietary changes are also important. You need to eliminate foods that fuel cancer cells.
Fasting is the most powerful tool to starve off cancer. It’s also important to believe that you will overcome cancer. Mindset matters!

Sun, 07 Apr 2024 - 04min - 10850 - The REAL Reason You Should Drink Coffee
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about some of the health benefits of drinking coffee. Remember, don’t drink coffee if it gives you anxiety, increases your heart rate, or prevents you from sleeping. Too much coffee can increase cortisol and adrenaline, so limit your daily coffee intake to one cup.
Caffeine is a phytochemical found in coffee and other plants. Caffeine keeps us awake by inhibiting a compound called adenosine. Coffee can give you mental acuity, help you focus, and improve your ability to learn. It speeds up the rate of metabolism and helps regulate blood sugar, especially if you add MCT oil or butter.
Research has shown that coffee may even help decrease your risk of dementia! Here are some of the other potential health benefits of coffee:
• Decreases symptoms related to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's
• Decreases risk of gallstones
• Increases the production and flow of bile
• Prevents kidney stones
• Has anti-cancer properties
• Has anti-inflammatory properties
• Has hepatoprotective properties
• Contains polyphenols to feed your microbiome
• Can help improve postural hypotension
• Improves exercise performance
• Increases cardiac output
• Delays muscle soreness
• Decreases symptoms experienced at high altitudes
• Increases mitochondrial biogenesis
• Increases stomach acid
Sat, 06 Apr 2024 - 05min - 10849 - What Your URINE COLOR Says about Your Health
Today, we’re going to talk about how the color of your urine can tell you what’s going on inside your body. Urine is filtered blood. Nephrons recycle good materials back into the blood and remove toxins and waste through your urine.
If you have clear urine, you’re drinking too much water. Too much water dilutes sodium and makes you dehydrated. Hydration is achieved with the right amount of electrolytes and the right amount of water. Only drink water when thirsty, especially when you’re not working out or sweating.
Normal urine color should be amber, yellow, or straw-colored. The yellow color comes from a pigment in your blood.
Red or pink urine usually signifies blood. This can be caused by a kidney stone, infection, or something more serious. Menstruation can also contaminate the urine, turning it pink. Always seek help from your doctor if you suspect that you have blood in your urine.
Orange urine or fluorescent yellow urine is usually the result of synthetic vitamins, especially B vitamins. It can also be the result of dyes from certain medications. Orange urine can also signify underlying gallbladder or liver issues, but this is not very common.
Blue urine is caused by methylene blue, certain medications, and artificial colors. Sometimes, asparagus can turn your urine green!
Dark brown urine means you’re dehydrated and need more fluids. Very dark brown urine could potentially point toward a liver problem.
If your urine has a normal color but is foamy, your protein consumption may be too high. Foamy urine may also potentially be caused by chronic kidney disease. Foamy urine often occurs in diabetics. If you have foamy urine, try cutting your protein intake to see if it helps.
Cloudy urine usually signifies infection. Most UTIs are caused by E. coli bacteria. Too much sugar in the diet can feed this bacteria.
Fri, 05 Apr 2024 - 04min - 10848 - Best Nutrients to Remove Plaque from Arteries
In this video, I'm going to share what you can do to help remove plaque from your arteries naturally. Plaque is made of cholesterol, calcium, and protein. These 3 ingredients form a band-aid if you have inflammation or other issues on the inside of your artery.
There are 2 types of plaque: soft plaque (unstable, dangerous) and hard plaque (calcified, stable, less dangerous). Soft plaque is 4 times as common as calcified plaque!
A CAC test gives you a score of how much plaque you have in your arteries. This test primarily detects calcified plaque, so the score usually won’t reflect soft plaque.
The CAC paradox is a phenomenon that occurs after you clean up your diet and get healthy, but your CAC score rises. This doesn't mean your plaque is getting worse. It means that some of your soft plaque has stabilized and become hard plaque.
Soft plaque is associated with glycation and more oxidation of the LDL. There are 2 types of LDL: small-dense pathogenic LDL and large-buoyant non-pathogenic LDL.
Myeloperoxidase and Lp-PLA2 both signify soft plaque on a blood test. An ultrasound can also detect soft plaque.
Higher HDL can help clean up pathogenic bad LDL. You also want to keep your triglycerides low. High triglycerides can signify that your diet is too high in carbs. You may want to request to test your lipoprotein insulin resistance. This factor is associated with cardiovascular atherosclerosis more than any other.
Here’s how to determine whether you have small dense LDL or large buoyant LDL. Divide the LDL by ApoB—the part of the lipoprotein that indicates the number of particles. You want your result to be greater than 1.2. This indicates large buoyant LDL.
The following nutrients may help remove arterial plaque buildup naturally:
1. Pycnogenol–150 mg
2. Gotu Kola–450 mg

Thu, 04 Apr 2024 - 07min - 10847 - The #1 Backyard Weed to Reverse a Fatty Liver
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about a common weed that may help reverse liver damage. This weed may help assist with inflammation of the liver and may even help reverse cirrhosis.
Weeds are actually herbs! This herb was used in Egypt, China, and Rome and has been used for thousands of years. The English folk name for this herb is “piss-a-bed” because it acts as a potent diuretic.
This wild herb has the following incredible potential health benefits:
• Decreases the accumulation of fat on the liver
• Suppresses lipid accumulation
• Decreases glucose levels
• Decreases insulin
• Improves insulin resistance
• Improves HOMA-IR test results
• Increases flow of bile from the liver
• Improves digestion and fat-soluble vitamin absorption
The herb we’re talking about is dandelion! You can eat dandelion greens and flowers to get these amazing health benefits. You can try a dandelion salad or incorporate a few dandelions into your greens mix. Dandelion greens can also be roasted or sautéed.

Wed, 03 Apr 2024 - 03min - 10846 - Lyme Disease Blocks Vitamin D Absorption by 8000%
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the top nutrient deficiency in Lyme disease, vitamin D. The spirochete microbe involved in Lyme disease blocks your ability to receive vitamin D. This means you could have normal vitamin D levels in your blood but be severely deficient deep in your tissues.
Vitamin D typically comes from the sun and is absorbed into the liver and kidneys through your skin. It’s eventually turned into the active form of vitamin D but has to be received by a vitamin D receptor.
The spirochete microbe in Lyme disease downgrades your vitamin D receptors by 50 to 80x! This inhibits your immune system’s ability to fight the microbe.
Other microbes, viruses, and certain types of cancer also downgrade vitamin D receptors. If you have a problem with your vitamin D receptors, it won’t be detected in your blood. You must do a specialized vitamin D receptor test to identify the problem.
It’s estimated that 30% of the population has issues with the vitamin D receptor. Many people who are overweight have resistance to vitamin D at the receptor level. Other microorganisms like chlamydia, microplasmas, and aspergillus (toxic mold) downgrade vitamin D receptors.
The following factors can make it more difficult for your body to absorb vitamin D: darker complexions, old age, low cholesterol, seed oil consumption, and smoking. You also need adequate zinc and magnesium for vitamin D to work properly in the body.
Natural alternatives to increase vitamin D levels and combat vitamin D resistance include:
1. Large amounts of vitamin D, 50,000 IU sporadically (i.e., once a week)
2. Sunshine
3. Omega-3 fatty acids
4. Resveratrol
5. Intense exercise
6. Quercetin
7. Zinc
8. Boron
9. Progesterone
10. Sulforaphane

Tue, 02 Apr 2024 - 06min - 10845 - Is Bill Gates' Apeel Really Safe?
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about Bill Gates’ new product, Apeel, which is used to make fresh produce last longer. Of the ingredients in Apeel, 99.34 percent are listed as “other ingredients,” which is a red flag because of the lack of transparency.
We know that Apeel contains monoglycerides and diglycerides—emulsifiers, which help mix things together. Apeel also contains solvents and heavy metals, including palladium, cadmium, lead, mercury, and arsenic! Manufacturers claim these metals are safe in small amounts, but there is no data about chronic consumption over time. Apeel also contains polyethylene glycol, a compound found in antifreeze.
Apeel could be a partially hydrogenated product. The FDA has banned trans fats, but loopholes still allow manufacturers to use them in their products.
If a product has less than .5 grams of trans fats, the FDA allows them to round it down to zero and not report the trans fats in the product. If a product is classified as an emulsifier, not a lipid or fat, it is exempt from the FDA’s ban on trans fats.
There is some controversy surrounding the function of the Apeel coating on produce. Is it a coating to keep food fresh or a fungicide? The EPA and the OMRI describe Apeel as a fungicide used after harvest, but Apeel is advertised as a protective coating.
There’s no way to remove the Apeel coating from your fresh produce, so it could potentially lock pesticides or pathogens inside. Think twice about buying fruits and vegetables that have this coating on them.
Mon, 01 Apr 2024 - 04min - 10844 - Intermittent Fasting Doubles Your Risk of Dying from a Heart Attack
Today, we’re going to talk about some of the recent news headlines claiming that fasting can wreak havoc on your cardiovascular system. This information was taken from an abstract (short summary) of an observational study sponsored by the American Heart Association.
The study was based on a 24-hour dietary recall, where participants had to recall everything they ate over a period of time. The author has also conducted observational studies that directly opposed red meat, eggs, and cholesterol.
Credible, peer-reviewed studies have shown numerous benefits of intermittent fasting and show that intermittent fasting actually supports cardiovascular health.
1. A single-blind randomized study examined the long-term effects of time-restricted eating with resistance training over 12 months. Participants saw a significant decrease in body mass, fat mass, and inflammation.
They experienced increased insulin sensitivity and a more balanced lipid profile without adverse effects. Intermittent fasting was deemed safe and effective for improving cardiovascular function.
2. A non-randomized controlled clinical trial for time-restricted feeding and its effect on body composition and cardiovascular risk found that 18 hours of fasting significantly decreased waist circumference and cardiovascular risk.
3. A systematic review of intermittent fasting with cardiometabolic risk factors looked at four randomized controlled trials. The results demonstrated that intermittent fasting significantly reduced body weight, waist circumference, body mass, fat mass, blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and fasting insulin levels.
4. One study evaluated a 16-hour fasting eating pattern with an 8-hour eating window on breast cancer survivors for 8 weeks. Results demonstrated a significant decrease in cardiovascular risk.

Sun, 31 Mar 2024 - 04min - 10843 - Why Are There No Fat People in Colorado
Today, we’re going to look at the obesity rates in the United States. Why are there no fat people in Colorado? Areas of the US with higher Black, Latino, and American Indian populations have higher obesity rates. The elderly have higher rates of obesity as well. People with darker skin tones have more melanin, making it more difficult to absorb vitamin D. It also becomes more difficult to absorb vitamin D as you age. Chronic vitamin D deficiency can lead to obesity. The more overweight a person is, the more vitamin D they need. The characteristics of metabolic syndrome align perfectly with the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency can create inflammation, high blood glucose, high blood pressure, and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is the driving factor behind obesity. If you have insulin resistance, you have too much insulin. Insulin is a fat-storing hormone that causes you to gain weight. Vitamin D helps keep insulin sensitive, but vitamin D doesn’t work well if you have insulin resistance. Colorado is a high-altitude state situated several thousand feet above sea level. This means it’s closer to the sun. The closer you are to the sun, the more vitamin D you’re exposed to. Vitamin D exposure in Colorado could be the most critical variable influencing people's weight.

Sat, 30 Mar 2024 - 08min - 10842 - He Should Have Been Dead 6 Years Ago - STAGE 4 CANCER
Please join me in welcoming Guy Tenenbaum. Six years ago, Guy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, also known as metastatic cancer. This means the cancer had spread to at least one organ. People with stage 4 cancer are typically given a few weeks to a few months to live.
A cancer cell comes from a normal cell that has damage in the mitochondria. The cancer cell adapts, takes alternative energy pathways, and can live without oxygen.
When Guy was diagnosed 6 years ago, he was told there was nothing that could be done, that it was too late, and to enjoy the rest of his life. His cancer had spread to his bones, lymph nodes, and lungs.
Guy explains that he didn’t do any chemo or radiation because there was no treatment plan proposed to him. Guy discovered Thomas Seyfried's work and decided to see if it could help. He discovered the benefits of prolonged fasting and even completed a 40-day fast.
Some people can do extended fasting, but if you’re unable to comfortably fast, the fasting-mimicking diet may be beneficial.
Guy continues researching new protocols and trying to stay one step ahead of highly adaptable cancer cells.

Fri, 29 Mar 2024 - 25min - 10841 - #1 Vitamin Deficiency in ALL Autoimmune Conditions
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the critical roles of vitamin D and parathyroid hormone in helping to prevent autoimmune diseases. Many people with an autoimmune disease have had success with the Coimbra protocol, which involves taking high doses of vitamin D.
The Coimbra protocol checks parathyroid hormone levels produced by the parathyroid gland, which is intimately involved in calcium regulation. If you have low calcium, the parathyroid gland pulls calcium from your bones and distributes it into the blood. Vitamin D helps with the absorption of calcium by a factor of 20x!
Vitamin D resistance occurs when the body does not absorb vitamin D. You can have normal vitamin D levels in the blood yet still be deficient in vitamin D. Parathyroid hormone levels can tell you if that's happening.
If you are not getting enough vitamin D, you will have trouble with calcium absorption. The parathyroid gland will have to overcompensate to combat vitamin D resistance.
Usually, if you have high vitamin D, you’ll have low parathyroid hormone levels. Low vitamin D and high parathyroid hormone levels can signify vitamin D resistance.
If you have vitamin D resistance, the solution is to take more vitamin D! The Coimbra protocol involves adjusting vitamin D until the parathyroid hormone lowers to a low to normal level.
Vitamin D resistance is typically caused by a problem with vitamin D receptors or a genetic issue known as polymorphism.
Other barriers to vitamin D absorption include:
• Low sun exposure
• Darker skin complexions
• Old age
• High stress
• Location
• Air pollution
Pathogens have strategic methods of downgrading vitamin D receptors. Pathogens from tick bites can downgrade your receptors by a factor of 60x!
Cancer cells, especially those affecting the colon and bones, downgrade vitamin D receptors to survive. Heavy metals can also downgrade vitamin D receptors.
Magnesium and zinc can protect against high calcium levels in the blood, but your best defense is vitamin K2.

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 - 08min - 10840 - What Happens If You Drank Celery Juice for 7 Days
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the benefits of drinking celery juice. Celery is 95% water, so it doesn’t contain many nutrients. A 16-ounce glass of celery juice contains some folate (B9) and about 288 mg of sodium.
However, celery juice contains four phytonutrients that have significant health benefits.
1. 3-n-butylphthalide
This phytochemical can help repair damage caused by a stroke, reconstruct microcirculation, and has neuroregenerative properties. It also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptosis, and anti-thrombosis properties.
2. Apigenin
Apigenin is one of the most studied polyphenols. It’s also found in parsley, onions, oranges, thyme, and basil. Apigenin acts as a muscle relaxer, lowers blood pressure, and improves sleep. It has anti-diabetic properties and has shown to be helpful for people with amnesia.
3. Coumaric acid
Coumaric acid is anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, and anti-clotting. It supports healthy blood sugar levels and can also help with inflammation associated with arthritis.
4. Kaempferol
Kaempferol is a potent antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory agent.
Celery juice is best consumed in the morning on an empty stomach. Choose organic celery to make celery juice, and add lemon juice for taste if you’d like.

Wed, 27 Mar 2024 - 03min - 10839 - The # 1 Dementia Remedy (GAME CHANGER)
In this podcast, I'm going to share an incredible potential natural alternative to help slow the signs of dementia.
The drug Lupron works to suppress certain cancers because it suppresses certain sex hormones. New research has also shown that Lupron can decrease dementia symptoms. Lupron is a potent suppressor of luteinizing hormone.
Luteinizing hormone is made by the pituitary gland and signals the body to produce hormones like progesterone and testosterone. As we age, luteinizing hormone increases significantly. Patients with Alzheimer's have higher amounts of luteinizing hormone than people with normal cognitive function.
High levels of luteinizing hormone significantly decrease progesterone. Progesterone is a very powerful neurosteroid, so it supports the development of neurons.
Women have more progesterone, so they often have fewer adverse effects if they experience a traumatic brain injury. Progesterone minimizes inflammation in the brain cells, enhances serotonin, prevents apoptosis, and decreases blood-brain barrier leakage.
After menopause, progesterone significantly decreases in women. For men, this decline can happen around 70 years of age.
Melatonin can suppress luteinizing hormone, which indirectly increases progesterone. Research on mice has shown that melatonin and exercise may help halt dementia symptoms.
DHEA and pregnenolone also work to suppress luteinizing hormone and increase progesterone. DHEA also suppresses cortisol.
To decrease luteinizing hormone with melatonin, you'll need a much larger than average dose. You can also stimulate melatonin by going to bed with the lights turned down, increasing sun exposure, or sitting by a campfire. Around 95% of melatonin can be obtained from the sun's infrared rays.

Tue, 26 Mar 2024 - 08min - 10838 - When NOT to Take Magnesium for Sleep and Anxiety
Let's take a look at magnesium for sleep or anxiety and when you may need to try something else instead. Sometimes, low magnesium is not the cause of your anxiety or sleep problems, and taking it can even worsen your symptoms.
The second part of sleep is called REM sleep. People with higher levels of adrenaline and cortisol tend to wake up around 2:00 am during REM sleep. Magnesium will not fix this problem because the high cortisol levels are not caused by low magnesium.
Stress and lack of exercise can cause poor sleep. Exercise, long walks, and physical labor can reduce stress and improve sleep.
If you find that you have difficulty getting to sleep because of racing thoughts and overthinking, you may be low in vitamin B1. Carbs, sugar, and caffeine can deplete vitamin B1. Taking B1 before bed can provide an immediate sense of calmness. Always choose a natural B1 supplement, not synthetic.
Instead of taking a melatonin supplement, it can be more beneficial to address why you do not have enough melatonin in the first place. Melatonin is inhibited by blue light. Darkness and infrared light recharge melatonin, so try getting sunlight or sitting by a fire.
Vitamin D before bed can help you sleep. Magnesium will not work if you're very low in vitamin D and vice versa.
If you're new to fasting and you go to bed hungry, it can interfere with your sleep. If fasting triggered your sleep problem, scale back, and begin fasting more gradually over time. Try incorporating more carbs at your last meal and increasing your carb intake to 50 grams per day.
Having plenty of sea salt on keto and intermittent fasting is vital. Salt causes your body to retain fluid, so not only will it help you sleep, but it can also help prevent waking to use the bathroom.
If you do need magnesium, try taking magnesium glycinate to help support sleep and reduce anxiety.

Mon, 25 Mar 2024 - 10min - 10837 - The #1 Collagen Tip for Amazing Hair, Nails, & Skin
In this podcast, we’ll discuss a very important amino acid: glycine. Collagen is a main component of connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. About ⅓ of collagen is made by glycine.
Your body can make glycine, but unfortunately, it doesn’t make very much. If you're not getting it from the diet, you could be deficient. Unless you’re eating the skin and cartilage from meat, you’re probably not getting enough glycine.
Glycine is needed to make the most important antioxidant for all of your cells, glutathione. Without enough glycine to make glutathione, you can’t detoxify your body. This can cause a buildup of toxicity, leading to inflammation.
Glycine is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and is an essential building block for many enzymes and proteins.
Here are some of the many important functions of glycine:
• Makes heme in your blood
• Important for gum health
• Essential for DNA
• Building block for catalase
• Supports sleep
• Supports the liver
• Can help fix a leaky gut
• Detoxifies uric acid
• Supports blood sugar
• Helps with weight loss
• Reduces visceral fat
Glycine can also turn into glucose to be used as fuel. Certain parts of the body, especially the brain, need a certain amount of glucose. If you’re not consuming glucose, your body can make it. Glycine is a precursor for glucose, but don’t worry about it bumping you out of ketosis. Glycine stimulates the hormone glucagon, which opposes insulin.
If you’re not eating animals nose-to-tail, if you’re under stress, taking medication, drinking alcohol, or exposed to toxins, you can become deficient in glycine.
You can increase your glycine intake by consuming gelatin! Try making your own gelatin using Knox Blox and using a natural sweetener like stevia. You can also take a glycine supplement. The average person needs about 4 to 10 grams of glycine per day.
Bone broth and pork rinds can increase your glycine intake, but you need to consume a lot to get enough glycine.
As we age, we need more glycine. Increasing glycine intake can potentially help people with osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, hair thinning, insomnia, gout, and kidney stones.

Sat, 23 Mar 2024 - 06min - 10835 - How to Build up Your Glutathione without Supplements
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the antioxidant glutathione. Glutathione is an important antioxidant present in all of your cells. It helps detoxify heavy metals and protects against free radical damage and oxidation.
Your body makes glutathione! You should only take a supplement if you have Tylenol poisoning. Tylenol depletes glutathione and puts your liver at risk for damage. If you’re dealing with Tylenol poisoning, you may be given an NAC supplement, a precursor to help build up your glutathione.
Glutathione deficiency symptoms include the following:
• Trouble sleeping
• Brain fog
• Fatigue
• Mood issues
• Depression
• Anxiety
Top causes of glutathione deficiency:
• Alcohol
• Low-calorie diets
• Overtraining
• Vegan diets
• Low-protein intake
• A mutation of the MTHFR gene
• Folic acid supplements
Try the following tips to ensure that you’re getting enough glutathione without taking a supplement:
1. Get enough glycine. Consume organ meats, the skin from meat and fish, bone broth, and gelatin.
2. Ensure adequate B vitamin intake. Avoid synthetic B vitamins. Meat is a great source of B12 and consuming organ meats and dark leafy greens will help add folate to your diet.
3. Get plenty of vitamin C from sources like sauerkraut and leafy greens.
4. Get enough sleep.
5. Do not over-exercise. Limit high-intensity exercise to twice a week.
6. Reduce stress. Adaptogens, going for a walk, listening to music, and even physical labor can reduce stress.
7. Consume sufficient protein with plenty of calories.
8. Increase carb intake to 50 grams per day.
9. Consume cruciferous vegetables.
10. Consume seafood for trace minerals like zinc and selenium.
Fri, 22 Mar 2024 - 07min - 10834 - 7 Ways to Burn More Fat While Sleeping
In this podcast, I’m going to give you 7 tips to help you increase fat-burning while you sleep. Poor sleep stops fat-burning, so it’s important to make sure you’re getting good sleep.
Check out these tips to boost fat loss while you sleep.
7. Only eat when you’re hungry. Let your appetite dictate your fasting pattern.
6. Reduce extra fat in your diet. This forces your body to burn your body fat for fuel.
5. Ensure your carb intake is not too high. Focus on eating meat and vegetables. If you have a thyroid issue, try adding berries to your diet. If you’re dealing with gut inflammation, try the carnivore diet.
4. Focus on good sleep hygiene. Invest in a good mattress, make sure the room is not too hot, and turn off the lights.
3. Natural sleep aids can help improve your sleep and increase fat-burning. Try drinking apple cider vinegar throughout the day to help regulate your blood sugar and help you sleep. Collagen helps with sleep because it contains glycine. Niacinamide, vitamin D, and sea salt are also important for good sleep.
2. Do a full-body workout that gets you tired and also makes you sweat. Intense exercise activates growth hormone which helps you burn fat, even while you’re resting.
1. Go to bed between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. and sleep for 9 hours. Getting plenty of sleep is crucial for fat loss.
Thu, 21 Mar 2024 - 07min - 10833 - Dr. Berg Speaking at the Hack Your Health Event (MUST ATTEND)
I'm excited to share a little bit about the upcoming Hack Your Health event that I’ll be speaking at. Please join me in welcoming Robin Switzer, the CEO of the event.
At the Hack Your Health event, I’m going to share fascinating information about the following topics:
1. Cancer
2. The autoimmune disease epidemic
3. The heart’s response to nutrition
4. Metabolomics
Metabolomics allows a practitioner to look deeper at your biochemistry beyond a standard blood test.
Metabolomics provides a bigger picture and is a better strategy for creating health than the standard healthcare model. It can help predict your risk for chronic illnesses like diabetes two decades before they develop.
Misdiagnosis is a common problem people experience when seeking answers about their symptoms. Metabolomics can help reduce misdiagnosis by looking at specific biomarkers to understand precisely what the problem is.
The Hack Your Health event will be held in Austin, TX, May 31-June 2. A general admission ticket is $299.00, but it’s discounted to $249.00 for the Dr. Berg community. The goal of the event is to educate as many people as possible!
The Hack Your Health event aims to educate people about more than just diet! I hope to see you there.
Wed, 20 Mar 2024 - 16min - 10832 - First Sign of a Magnesium Deficiency NEVER to Ignore
Today, I’m going to share 22 signs of a magnesium deficiency. Sixty percent of magnesium is in the bone, 20% is in the muscle, 19% is in the soft tissue, and 1% is in the blood.
Magnesium deficiency is the most overlooked deficiency because it cannot be detected by a blood test.
The top causes of magnesium deficiency include:
• Consumption of sugar and refined carbs
• Alcohol consumption
• Cirrhosis of the liver
• NPK fertilizer leads to crops that are low in magnesium
• Malabsorption from gut inflammation
• Diuretics
• PPIs
• Gastric bypass surgery
• Low vitamin D
• Inflammation
Diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular disease are all associated with low magnesium.
The best sources of magnesium are leafy greens, almonds, and dark chocolate, but some of these foods contain oxalates. Oxalates block the absorption of magnesium. Meat, cheese, and shellfish contain magnesium and do not contain oxalates.
Here are 22 surprising signs of magnesium deficiency:
• Anxiety
• Insomnia
• Depression
• Migraines
• Restless leg syndrome
• Muscle cramps
• Fatigue
• Tourette's syndrome
• Oxidative cholesterol
• High homocysteine levels
• High blood pressure
• Calcification of the arteries
• Arrhythmias
• Stroke
• Metabolic syndrome
• Polycystic ovarian syndrome
• Kidney stones
• Higher levels of calcium in the blood
• Inflammation
• Nystagmus
• Asthma
Neuromuscular excitability, or tetany, is the number 1 earliest sign of a magnesium deficiency. Tetany is a twitching of the muscles, often affecting the left eye.
Magnesium is required for proper nerve function. When you’re deficient, the nerves become more excited, leading to faster nerve impulses.
Tue, 19 Mar 2024 - 06min - 10831 - The Hidden Source of Heart Attacks/Strokes: NO ONE TOLD YOU...YET
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about a surprising hidden source of heart attacks. In his book "Hidden Epidemic," Dr. Thomas Levy reported that 78% of patients with myocardial infarctions and occluded arteries also had DNA of pathogens typical for infections in root canal-treated teeth.
This type of chronic infection is known as chronic apical periodontitis and often has no symptoms. As you’re chewing, you push bacteria deeper into the lymphatic system, affecting the heart and causing other inflammatory issues like arthritis.
Infected teeth are often missed on routine dental X-rays. C-reactive protein levels in your blood are a biomarker for inflammation and can sometimes signify infected teeth.
The infection can be in the tooth, gums, jaw, or tonsils. Pathogens in your mouth can create significant oxidative stress and free radical damage. One of the ways your body responds is by developing clots. Other symptoms include fatigue, chronic inflammation, jaw problems, and tooth sensitivity.
To strengthen your immune system and prevent the spread of bacteria from your teeth, take 1 to 2 grams (500 mg a few times a day) of liposomal vitamin C. Vitamin C works as an antioxidant to lower oxidative stress in the body.
Liposomal vitamin C is one of the only forms that can work at the intracellular level. Liposomal vitamin C will not cause diarrhea, even when taken in large quantities.

Mon, 18 Mar 2024 - 06min - 10830 - The Therapeutic Benefits of CASTOR OIL (Skin/Face/Hair)
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the benefits of castor oil. Castor oil contains the compound retinoic acid, which acts as a remedy for many issues involving the skin and hair.
Castor oil can be very beneficial for the following concerns:
• Dry skin
• Brittle hair
• Dry hair
• Hair loss
• Cracked heels
• Stretch marks
• Scars
• Dermatitis
• Joint pain
• Acne
• Styes
Retinoic acid in castor oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and is a potent antioxidant. Castor oil is a natural conditioner for the skin and hair, so it works as an excellent moisturizer. It can also rejuvenate skin affected by sun damage.
Castor oil has antifungal properties, so it works as a remedy for toenail fungus.
Castor oil is easy to find and relatively inexpensive! Look for cold-pressed castor oil without a hexane solvent.
Jamaican black castor oil is the best for hair. It stimulates hair growth, adds shine, and can also help with alopecia.
Sat, 16 Mar 2024 - 03min - 10829 - Gallbladder Removal (Surgery) - Vital Things to Know
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the side effects of gallbladder removal. You can live a long, healthy life without a gallbladder, but unfortunately, 40% of people who’ve had their gallbladder removed end up with persistent pain and symptoms for a year or more.
Some of the common symptoms associated with gallbladder removal include the following:
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Anal leakage
• Fullness under the right rib cage
• Right shoulder pain
• Collins’ sign pain
The gallbladder is an extension of the liver that holds and concentrates bile. Every time you eat, it contracts and releases bile into the small intestine. Bile begins to break down fat, allowing the pancreas to further break down fat by releasing an enzyme called lipase.
Bile is critical for the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, E, D, and K, as well as essential fatty acids. Bile also helps you get rid of excess cholesterol.
A gallstone is a concentrated cholesterol stone that forms due to low bile. This is why bile salts are used as a remedy for gallstones.
If you’re low in bile salts, your liver will make more bile and cholesterol. Seventy-five percent of all the cholesterol in your body is made by your body. Only 25% of your cholesterol comes from the diet.
Here are some of the causes of bile deficiency:
• Estrogen (birth control pills, pregnancy)
• Stress
• Prednisone
• Diabetes
• High-carb diets
• High body weight
• Liver disease (fatty liver, cirrhosis, hepatitis)
• Low-fat diets
• PPIs
• Nutritional deficiencies
• Low melatonin
If you’ve had your gallbladder removed and you’re having symptoms, here are a few things that you can try:
•Gentle acupressure
•Bile salts after eating
•TUDCA for bile sludge
•Betaine hydrochloride to acidify the stomach
•Increase melatonin (infrared rays, improve sleep)
•Milk thistle, beets, dandelion greens, artichokes
If you have diarrhea, bile salts may worsen your problem. Follow a low-carb, moderate-fat, moderate-protein diet if you’re dealing with symptoms from gallbladder removal.

Sun, 17 Mar 2024 - 11min - 10828 - The #1 Nutrient Deficiency in High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
In this podcast, we’re going to take a look at hypertension. Ninety percent of all hypertension is considered essential hypertension. This means the cause is unknown. Anti-hypertensive medication is one of the most prescribed medicines in the world.
Normal blood pressure is 120/80. Research suggests a strong relationship between potassium deficiency and high blood pressure. Many people are deficient in potassium because the requirements are so high—4700 mg daily.
You need about half as much sodium as potassium, but many people consume three times as much sodium as potassium!
Potassium directly controls the tone of the vascular system. This directly affects blood pressure. Potassium also supports the endothelial layer of the arteries and helps improve insulin resistance.
Potassium supplements often only contain 99 mg of potassium, which is incredibly low considering how much potassium you actually need.
You can get potassium from salad, but you must consume around 7 to 10 cups daily. This also provides magnesium. The combination of potassium and magnesium can help reduce high blood pressure.
Diets high in carbs and sugar cause you to lose potassium. Adrenaline and cortisol deplete potassium as well.
To support healthy blood pressure levels, try increasing your salad intake. You can also look for a high-quality electrolyte powder that's high in potassium.
Fri, 15 Mar 2024 - 05min - 10827 - The #1 Best Vitamin for Arthritis (NOT VITAMIN D)
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about a vitamin that can help relieve symptoms of arthritis. Arthritis involves inflammation, breakdown of cartilage, stiffness, and pain.
People often take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to get rid of the pain associated with arthritis, but NSAIDs can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and kidney problems. Steroids for pain can destroy your joints and lower your immune system.
This incredible remedy for arthritis is a precursor for NAD. NAD is a helper molecule that helps turn food into energy and is involved in over 400 different genes.
Signs of an NAD deficiency can include:
1. Low collagen repair
2. Inflammation
3. Fatigue
4. Muscle pain, muscle weakness, muscle loss
5. Metabolic diseases
6. Aging faster than normal
7. Lowered immune system
Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, is the best vitamin for arthritis. Try taking around 100 to 150 milligrams of niacinamide 3 to 6 times per day, depending on the severity of your arthritis.
Ensure you’re consuming sufficient protein for niacinamide to help with your arthritis symptoms, and it’s also best to avoid alcohol.
Tryptophan can also turn into vitamin B3, but the mechanism is not very efficient. Niacinamide is a non-toxic, effective, and affordable remedy for arthritis!
Thu, 14 Mar 2024 - 05min - 10826 - Do Not Eat Peanut Butter until You Listen to This!
In this podcast, I’m going to tell you about the healthiest peanut butter. Peanuts don't typically cause health issues, but they can cause bloating for some people, and it's still important to consume the right peanuts.
Peanuts are not nuts—they are legumes that grow in the soil. Conventional peanuts are heavily sprayed with pesticides and fungicides, which seep into the soil and penetrate their thin shells. This is why you should always choose organic peanuts and peanut butter.
Glyphosate is also commonly found in peanuts. Glyphosate can act as an antibiotic and is found in many GMO foods.
Always read the label on your peanut butter and ensure it doesn't contain hydrogenated oils. Hydrogenated vegetable oils don’t actually come from vegetables at all—they’re seed oils! Also, avoid peanut butter with added sugar.
Monoglycerides are sometimes added to peanut butter. A French study linked this ingredient to cancer and found that it can increase the risk of certain cancers by 46%.
Look for peanut butter that only contains peanuts and salt. Organic Valencia peanut butter that contains only Valencia peanuts and sea salt is the best option. Valencia peanuts contain the least amount of aflatoxins. Aflatoxins come from mold and can be very damaging to the liver.
Try to have your peanuts with a meal rather than as a snack to avoid spiking insulin.
Wed, 13 Mar 2024 - 04min - 10825 - The Fastest Way To Rid HEARTBURN, GERD and ACID REFLUX
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about three ways to get rid of heartburn without using antacids. Antacids only work for a short time, requiring you to take more and more to keep your symptoms at bay. Through prolonged use, antacids will only make heartburn worse by depleting your stomach acid.
Antacids are associated with the following side effects:
• Bloating
• Indigestion
• Allergies
• Increased infection in the stomach
• Depression
Antacids create a condition known as achlorhydria, which depletes your stomach acid, but you need your stomach acid to get rid of heartburn. Your stomach is very acidic and should have a pH between 1 and 3. Enzymes cannot be activated if you do not have the right pH.
Heartburn is not a problem resulting from too much acid—it's a valve problem. Keeping the pH of the stomach between 1 and 3 keeps the valve shut.
How to get rid of heartburn naturally:
1. The most important nutrient to eliminate and prevent heartburn is vitamin B1 (thiamine). Your stomach can not produce acid when you’re deficient in vitamin B1. A diet high in carbs depletes B1. Low B1 deprives the autonomic nervous system, which controls the valves of the stomach. Look for a natural source of vitamin B1 to get rid of heartburn.
2. Potassium and zinc are very important for your stomach acid. Try a good electrolyte powder and trace mineral supplement to increase your intake of these important minerals. Also, make sure you’re getting plenty of sea salt.
3. Increase your stomach acid. This triggers the valve at the top of the stomach to close. Apple cider vinegar and betaine hydrochloride can help acidify the stomach.
It’s important to note that if apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride causes burning, you may have gastritis or an ulcer. In this situation, you need to heal the stomach before taking apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride.

Tue, 12 Mar 2024 - 06min - 10824 - Avoiding the Sun is Just as Dangerous as Cigarettes?
Today, we’re going to talk about the dangers of avoiding sun exposure. There has been an association between vitamin D insufficiency and autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and at least 17 different cancers.
Vitamin D is intimately involved in over 2,000 of our genes and vital for proper immune function. It’s virtually impossible to get enough vitamin D from your diet. Only 5% to 10% of vitamin D comes from diet, and that’s only if you eat plenty of fatty fish, organ meats, and egg yolks. Around 90% to 95% percent of your vitamin D comes from the sun.
Every year, there are 5,125 deaths from sun exposure and 1,684,677 deaths from lack of sun. For every death from sun exposure, there are 329 deaths from lack of sun.
The current American Dermatology Association recommendation is to stay out of the sun and use sunblock. Yet, in the early 1900s, the sun was used to treat illnesses like tuberculosis and asthma.
In 1935, 1 out of 1500 people developed melanoma. By 2014, 1 in 50 people had developed melanoma, despite the fact that people are spending significantly less time outside.
This shows that the sun protects you from melanoma. In fact, 75% of all melanomas are located in areas not typically exposed to the sun.
Fifty-four percent of the sun's rays are infrared light. Infrared light protects against cancer, stimulates melatonin, and also generates ATP. Vitamin D and melatonin protect the mitochondria. Both are stimulated by exposure to the sun.
Aim to get a moderate amount of sun exposure to avoid burning and support your health.

Mon, 11 Mar 2024 - 04min - 10823 - TOP Counterintuitive Health Tips That Are Deadly Effective
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the concept of hormesis. Hormesis describes two things that might oppose each other. In terms of health, hormesis refers to a controlled dose of stress that makes positive changes for your body.
With hormesis, you can adapt to various types of stress, including exercise, radiation, cold, heat, hypoxia, plant chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides.
Sulforaphane found in broccoli sprouts and radish sprouts triggers the heat shock protein that allows the body to strengthen its detoxification enzymes. In this instance, the body is exposed to a small amount of poison that strengthens its ability to get rid of other poisons.
The liver contains phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification enzymes that can take a poison and turn it into a harmless particle. Sulforaphane triggers this system.
Exercise is one of the best examples of hormesis. Exercise induces microinflammation but then allows the body to get rid of inflammation.
Fasting activates the body’s mechanisms that counter starvation. It encourages our brain cells to grow, increases mitochondria, and regenerates the immune system.
Health is often counterintuitive. For example, cutting fat won’t help you lose fat, and sterilizing your environment won’t protect you from getting sick.
You can’t develop a strong immune system without getting sick. Antibiotics destroy good bacteria in the body, which can lead to pathogen overgrowth. Antacids can lead to more heartburn because you need more acid to get rid of heartburn.
When you don't expose yourself to the sun, you put yourself more at risk for certain types of cancers. Many people have been told that the sun causes cancer, but the sun gives us vitamin D. Having a deficiency in vitamin D can increase your risk for cancer.
One last example is dieting. The more dieting you do in your lifetime, the more weight you will gain—especially if you’re doing it incorrectly.

Sat, 09 Mar 2024 - 04min - 10821 - How to Lose 1 Pound of Fat per Day (20,000 Calories in 5 Days)
Check out this fascinating interview with Dr. Ian Lake and find out how he burned over 25,000 calories in 5 days!
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Ian Lake! Dr. Lake is a medical doctor and type 1 diabetic who ran 5 marathons while fasting for 5 days. He ran a total of 100 miles in 5 days! Dr. Lake's main goal was to show how nutritional ketosis can be safe for type 1 diabetics. Keep in mind that to accomplish this dangerous and amazing feat, Dr. Lake trained his body in many different ways. Taking something like this lightly could have been deadly. A type 1 diabetic can not produce insulin in enough volume to maintain blood sugar. This is very different from type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes have more than enough insulin and often have too much, leading to insulin resistance. Dr. Lake explains that our bodies can multifuel, which means we can use sugars and fats for energy. In an ideal situation, our bodies can flip between whatever fuel they need. To burn fat as fuel, your insulin has to be low. Dr. Lake lost over a pound of fat per day during his 5-day fast. To prepare for a longer fast, you have to become fat-adapted. You must lower insulin to adapt your body to running on fat fuel. To lower insulin, lower the food that stimulates insulin—carbohydrates. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a dangerous condition associated with type 1 diabetes. Ketoacidosis occurs when sugar in the blood can not get inside of the cells, starving them of energy. Some medical professionals believe that ketosis can put you at risk for ketoacidosis, but other doctors are against this idea. Dr. Lake currently follows the keto diet, leaning more towards the carnivore diet. His diet consists of about 100 grams of protein per day, dairy, and some leafy greens. Check out Dr. Ian's Website:

Fri, 08 Mar 2024 - 32min - 10820 - Avoid These Big Mistakes When Drinking Water
In this podcast, I'm going to debunk some popular myths about water and provide you with the truth behind each one.
Myth #1: Once you feel thirsty, dehydration has already set in
Truth: While feeling thirsty is a sign that your body needs more fluids, it does not necessarily mean you are dehydrated. Your body is designed to give you signals when you need more water, so just drink when you feel thirsty.
Myth #2: Drink water until your urine is clear
Truth: Your urine should be a pale straw color or light yellow. If it's too clear, it means you are overhydrated; if it is too dark, it could indicate a potential health issue with your liver or kidneys.
Myth #3: Drink water to feel full and reduce food intake
Truth: While replacing sugary drinks with water can help you lose weight, drinking more water does not directly lead to fat loss.
Myth #4: Drinking more water will flush out toxins
Truth: Most toxins are fat-soluble and are not flushed out by drinking water alone. The body has its own detoxification system, so just focus on staying hydrated instead of trying to "detox" with excessive water intake.
Myth #5: Water will prevent dehydration
Truth: While it is true that hydration is vital for overall health, simply drinking water will not prevent dehydration. Other factors, such as electrolytes play an important role in preventing dehydration.
Myth #6: Drink more water
Truth: Drinking massive amounts of water can lead to imbalances in the body. Certain situations will call for more water intake—just don't overdo it. If you're prone to kidney stones, you need at least 2.5 liters of fluid per day
Myth #7: Drink water right before you eat
Truth: Drinking water before meals is fine, but it may cause discomfort for individuals who experience heartburn or bloating.
A few more key points to remember:
• If you're prone to kidney stones, consider adding lemon to your water.
• Add a little bit of baking soda to your water if you experience gout symptoms.
• The keto flu or fatigue experienced by some individuals on a keto diet is often due to not consuming enough electrolytes with their water, specifically salt.
• Proper hydration is vital for kidney health, but drinking more water won't cleanse or "flush out" the kidneys.
Thu, 07 Mar 2024 - 07min - 10819 - The 15 Causes of ITCHING You've Never Heard About
In this podcast, I’m going to share 15 underlying causes of itching. Pruritus is the medical term for itching. Itching usually involves a superficial nerve that is aggravated to some level.
Here are 15 causes of itching:
1. Body lice
2. Scabies
3. Hookworms
4. Herpes
5. Insect bites
6. Yeast infection
7. Poison ivy
8. Tick bites
9. Diabetes
10. Polycythemia
11. Problems with the parathyroid glands
12. Uremia
13. Liver issues
14. Cholestasis
15. Dry skin
Itching is often a symptom of diabetes because of circulation problems. Poor circulation causes the nerves to die, which can feel like itching or burning pain and even cause severe pain.
Polycythemia is a condition where you have too many red blood cells. This can decrease circulation and the amount of oxygen in your skin, causing itching.
The parathyroid gland consists of 4 glands around the thyroid that control calcium. If the thyroid works too hard, you could develop too much calcium in the blood. This can lead to calcification of your skin, which can affect your nerve endings.
Liver issues like cirrhosis, hepatitis, or cholestasis can cause itching. You can develop cholestasis if the liver’s function is impaired and it can no longer make bile salts.
Dry skin is a common cause of itching, often caused by a lack of vitamin A or vitamin D.
There is a high correlation between people who have itching and people with liver or gallbladder issues. This is typically caused by irritation to the gallbladder and decreased omega-3 fatty acids.
Dietary changes can help eliminate itching. TUDCA, a bile salt that helps thin the bile, has been found to significantly decrease itching in people with cirrhosis.

Wed, 06 Mar 2024 - 05min - 10818 - Drink 1 Cup Per Day for Depression
Let’s discuss the many benefits of green tea and how it can help with depression. But what exactly is green tea?
Green tea is a drink made from unfermented leaves, which makes it different from other types of tea. It contains many pharmacologically active compounds that have been found to have numerous health benefits.
One of these benefits is its ability to reduce depression. Studies have shown that drinking just three cups of green tea per week can reduce depression by 21 percent.
But how exactly does green tea help with depression?
Green tea has been found to have an impact on certain areas of the brain, such as the prefrontal cortex and the nucleus accumbens, which are involved in addiction.
It also affects the hippocampus, which plays a role in cognitive function, memory, and learning.
Another compound found in green tea is L-theanine, an amino acid that helps with mood stabilization and has been shown to improve depression directly.
But the benefits of green tea don’t stop there. Studies have also shown it to be anti-carcinogenic, antimicrobial, and neuroprotective. It has even been found to reverse age-related cognitive decline.
But drinking green tea isn’t the only natural way to combat depression. Here are some other methods you can try:
• Exercise: A study found that exercise may have effects similar to Zoloft in reducing symptoms of depression. High-intensity interval training has been proven to be particularly beneficial for those with depression and anxiety.
• Vitamin D: Deficiency in this essential nutrient has been linked to a higher risk of depression, so get enough sunlight and take a vitamin D supplement.
• Fasting: Fasting has been found to have survival properties that can help our bodies function better, including reducing symptoms of depression.

Tue, 05 Mar 2024 - 05min - 10817 - The Early Signs of Colon Cancer You DON'T Want to Ignore
Today, I want to cover the early warning signs of colon cancer that you should pay attention to. These indicators do not necessarily mean you have colon cancer, but they are important clues that could help in the early detection of this disease. Risk factors associated with colon cancer: • Smoking • Drinking • Unhealthy diet • Obesity • H. pylori infection Red meat has also been associated with colon cancer. However, recent studies have found no direct correlation between red meat and cancer and that the quality of meat consumed, such as grass-fed versus grain-fed, can make a difference. Genetics play a role in colon cancer but only account for about five percent of cases. Lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise can have a much greater impact on gene expression through epigenetics. Six early indicators of colon cancer: • Blood in the stool • Anemia without a known cause • Thin stools • Worsening constipation • Abdominal pain • Sudden weight loss or loss of appetite If you experience any of these symptoms, it's important to consult with your doctor for further testing and evaluation. But what can you do to potentially avoid colon cancer? Here are a few tips: • Limit the use of antibiotics, but if you must take them, also take a good probiotic. • Try intermittent fasting or prolonged fasting to give your colon a break and allow it to heal. • Incorporate cruciferous vegetables such as kale, broccoli, and cabbage into your diet for their anti-inflammatory and probiotic properties. • Stay physically active to strengthen your mitochondria and decrease cancer risk. • Add spices such as garlic, thyme, and sage to your meals for their anti-cancer properties. • Avoid foods that cause inflammation in the gut, such as gluten, grains, seed oils, and junk food.

Mon, 04 Mar 2024 - 06min - 10816 - The 6 Foods That Can Cause Cancer
Today, I want to cover the six main foods that can potentially cause cancer. However, many other factors can trigger cancer, including:
• Exposure to environmental toxins such as pesticides, radon, and cleaning chemicals
• Old age and age-related changes in the body's cells
• Viruses, fungi, parasites, and bacteria
• Pollution
Six foods that may cause cancer:
1. Alcohol: Chronic alcohol exposure can damage your mitochondria, which can lead to cancer.
2. Trans fats: These are artificially produced fats commonly found in fried foods and processed snacks. They have been linked to an increased risk of cancer and other health issues.
3. Burnt or charred meat: Harmful chemicals such as heterocyclic amines (HCA) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) can be formed when meat is cooked at high temperatures. These have been linked to various types of cancer. Add garlic or rosemary to your meat while cooking to reduce your risk.
4. Advanced glycation end products (AGEs): These are compounds formed when protein and sugar are heated together. Foods high in AGEs include barbecued meats, fried foods, and ice cream.
5. Processed meats: These can contain nitrates, which have been associated with an increased risk of cancer. It's important to note that grass-fed and grass-finished meat differs from processed meat. Therefore, it's important to choose quality sources of meat.
6. Ultra-processed or junk foods: These foods are highly refined and are high in sugar, unhealthy fats, and chemicals. They can cause inflammation and deplete our vitamin and mineral reserves.
It’s important to look out for Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) foods that are unhealthy, such as:
• Maltodextrin
• Modified starch
• High fructose corn syrup
• Corn oil
• Soy oil
• Canola oil
• Corn syrup

Sun, 03 Mar 2024 - 08min - 10815 - How to Maintain Weight Loss After Ozempic
Understanding the benefits and drawbacks of Ozempic is crucial when considering how to manage your weight after stopping this medication.
As a GLP-1 Agonist, Ozempic mimics a hormone in your small intestine that helps regulate insulin levels, control appetite, and slow down gastric emptying. While this can aid in weight loss, it can also lead to adverse side effects.
These side effects may include:
• Nutrient deficiency
• Gastroparesis
• Constipation
• Gallbladder problems
• Thyroid tumors and cancer
To help maintain your weight after Ozempic, it’s crucial to make certain lifestyle changes, such as:
1. Follow a ketogenic diet to keep insulin levels low and promote fat-burning.
2. Do intermittent fasting to control appetite and improve hormone balance.
3. Incorporate weight training to build and preserve muscle mass.
Additionally, ensuring adequate protein intake is crucial for maintaining muscle mass, especially for those who have already lost a significant amount of muscle while on Ozempic. This can be achieved through consuming bioavailable proteins such as red meat, eggs, and fish.
Monitoring your hormone levels and ensuring proper cholesterol intake is also important, as cholesterol is a building block for many hormones, including testosterone and estrogen.
Sat, 02 Mar 2024 - 05min - 10814 - What I Would Do If I Had ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis): Lou Gehrig’s Disease – Dr. Berg
In this podcast, we're going to talk about ALS and how it can negatively affect the body. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects nerve cells. This leads to muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventually death.
According to "The ALS Puzzle Solved?!", there is evidence that ALS may be related to hormonal shifts and aging. As we age, there is a decrease in protective hormones such as progesterone and melatonin, which can lead to nerve damage and muscle weakness. It has also been suggested that mutations in certain individuals may play a role in the development of ALS.
While the exact cause of ALS is still unknown, this information provides a potential pathway for treatment and management of the disease. It is recommended to supplement with melatonin and vitamin K2, as well as take natural B vitamins and hormones such as pregnenolone to support the body's production of progesterone.
Additionally, infrared therapy has been shown to potentially increase melatonin levels, while resveratrol can help decrease toxicity in the body.

Fri, 01 Mar 2024 - 07min - 10813 - Get Your Omega-6 to Omega-3 Ratios Balanced
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about essential fatty acids, omega-6 and omega-3. The omega-6 to omega-3 ratio is way off in the average diet. The average American is at a 20:1 and sometimes a 70:1 or more omega-6 to omega-3 ratio!
We need both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, but we need significantly more omega-3 fatty acids to avoid inflammation. The source is important! You don’t want to get your omega-6 fatty acids from seed oils.
Omega-6 consumption from seed oils directly correlates with chronic illnesses like heart disease. Very recently in human history, seed oils replaced saturated fat in the diet and are in every ultra-processed food.
Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids include fatty fish, cod liver oil, cod liver, sardines, and shellfish.
Grain-fed animals are much higher in omega-6 fatty acids. This is one of the reasons people are turning to grass-fed, grass-finished beef.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids go through the same biochemical pathways and compete with each other in the body. If there’s any problem in these biochemical pathways, you can end up with dysfunctional fats that your body will be unable to benefit from.
Co-factors for these biochemical pathways include magnesium, vitamins B2, B3, B6, vitamin C, and insulin. Many people are insulin resistant, which means they’re deficient in insulin. Seed oil consumption paired with insulin resistance causes a lot more compound damage.
Intermittent fasting and a low-carb diet can correct insulin resistance so you’re better able to utilize fatty acids within the body and don’t end up with dysfunctional fats.
Omega-3 fatty acids fall into two categories: DHA and EPA. EPA helps reduce inflammation, and DHA helps support cognitive function. ALA is a precursor to EPA.
There’s a simple blood test that can measure your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio.
Thu, 29 Feb 2024 - 08min - 10812 - Dr. Berg Goes Carnivore for 2 Weeks
I switched to the carnivore diet for 2 weeks. Here's what happened.
In this podcast, I’m going to share my opinion of the carnivore diet after following it for 2 weeks. Not everyone does well on the same diet, so it’s important to experiment with different diets to find the right one for you.
Many people do very well on the carnivore diet! The carnivore diet can be very helpful for people with gut issues and autoimmune conditions.
While on the carnivore diet, I ate beef, pork, eggs, seafood, shellfish, and dairy. I discovered that I had been experiencing bloating due to my nut consumption. I didn’t experience any energy changes because I already have high energy.
For the first few days, I didn’t have any bowel movements. This was probably because my gut microbes needed to adjust.
Some people wonder about vitamin C intake on the carnivore diet. When you go on the carnivore diet, your need for vitamin C decreases.
I do not plan to continue the carnivore diet. I will continue eating the same proteins along with salads made from high-quality ingredients. I’ll also consume fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles.
I love to add extra virgin olive oil, parmigiano reggiano, nutritional yeast, and feta cheese to my salads. The calcium in cheese binds to any oxalates that are in your salad, removing them from the digestive system.
I’ll also add berries to my diet, but I won’t be eating any nuts!

Thu, 29 Feb 2024 - 06min - 10811 - How to Get Rid of Blackheads and Sebaceous Filaments - Dr. Berg
Let's talk about sebaceous filaments, the common misconceptions surrounding them, and why they keep coming back. We will also explore the root causes and how to address these issues to achieve long-term results.
Many people mistake sebaceous filaments for blackheads and try to remove them by using tweezers or other methods. However, this can damage the skin.
The presence of sebaceous filaments and blackheads is often linked to the overproduction of sebum. This production is regulated by a hormone called androgens, which can increase during puberty, pregnancy, or other hormonal imbalances.
So, how do we address the root cause of sebaceous filaments? One way is to regulate and balance our androgen levels through dietary changes. Consuming foods high in vitamin A, D, and omega-3 fatty acids while reducing the intake of seed oils found in processed foods can help decrease sebum production.
Another way to reduce and balance androgen levels is through intermittent fasting and the keto diet, which helps lower insulin levels. High levels of insulin can also contribute to the overproduction of sebum.
Additionally, zinc deficiency has been linked to raised sebum production. Consuming zinc-rich foods such as shellfish and red meat can help address this deficiency. Managing stress levels is also essential, as chronic stress can deplete our zinc levels.

Wed, 28 Feb 2024 - 06min - 10810 - 7 Foods That Make You Live Longer
In this podcast, we're going to talk about the importance of mitochondria in relation to longevity and how specific molecules found in food can help support their function. We explore the benefits of PQQ, polyphenols, Coenzyme Q10, L-carnitine, carnosine, phycocyanin, and EPA/DHA.
These molecules are found in a variety of foods, such as:
• Cacao, which contains PQQ
• Berries, grass-fed meats, and cheese, which are rich in polyphenols
• Liver, red meat, and fatty fish, which are good sources of Coenzyme Q10
• Red meat, which is high in L-carnitine and carnosine
• Spirulina, which is a vegetarian source of phycocyanin
• Salmon, sardines, and cod liver oil, which are rich in EPA and DHA
Incorporating these foods into your diet can potentially increase the number of mitochondria in your cells, improve energy production, decrease oxidative stress and inflammation, and slow down aging.
Let's dive deeper into each of these potent molecules and their specific benefits:
• PQQ—Boosts mitochondrial count and supports uninterrupted energy production in cells.
• Polyphenols—Enhance mitochondrial function and reduce inflammation.
• Coenzyme Q10—Is essential for proper mitochondrial functioning, especially in energy production. It also acts as an antioxidant and may have therapeutic effects for mitochondrial diseases. Supplementing with Coenzyme Q10 may benefit those taking statins.
• L-carnitine—Helps with fat burning, muscle preservation during exercise, and post-workout recovery.
• Carnosine—Acts as a pH buffer, reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, and may delay aging.
• Phycocyanin—Has antioxidant properties and supports mitochondrial biogenesis, increasing energy production and potentially protecting DNA.
• EPA and DHA—Are omega-3 fatty acids that increase mitochondrial function, reduce oxidative stress, have anti-inflammatory effects, and improve insulin sensitivity.

Tue, 27 Feb 2024 - 06min - 10809 - The Best Remedies to Use When You’re Sick
In this podcast, I’m going to tell you how to get rid of your infection symptoms naturally. To combat an infection, try to determine if you’re dealing with a viral infection or a bacterial infection.
Viral infection symptoms will be more systemic. If you have a viral infection, you’ll notice more body aches and chills. Bacterial infection symptoms will be localized. Fevers are typically higher with a bacterial infection.
A sore throat associated with a viral infection is often accompanied by a runny nose and a cough. If a sore throat is caused by a bacterial infection, you’ll feel more localized pain without a runny nose.
A dry cough is associated with a viral infection, while bacterial infections are associated with a productive cough. Respiratory infection, the common cold, flu, bronchitis, and infections involving the sinuses and lungs are generally viral. Pneumonia can be both bacterial and viral.
A viral infection typically lasts 1 to 2 weeks. A bacterial infection will probably last a bit longer, but this depends on your immune system. Mucus associated with a viral infection is usually clear or white and green or yellow with a bacterial infection.
The best viral infection remedies are elderberry and olive leaf extract. For bacterial infections, try garlic, oregano oil, and echinacea.
The following remedies for infection work for both viral and bacterial infections:
•Take a hot bath or shower/dress warm
•Get more sleep
•Take zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin C
•Fasting
•Increase sea salt intake
•Improve emotional state
•Get more sunlight (UVB and infrared rays)
•Take cod liver oil
Stress, age, and poor gut health can increase your susceptibility to infection. Refined sugar and other refined foods deplete zinc and vitamin C, also increasing your susceptibility to infection.

Sun, 25 Feb 2024 - 05min - 10807 - The Real Reason Why You Should Take Cod Liver Oil
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the health benefits of cod liver oil. Cod liver oil is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. EPA has potent anti-inflammatory properties, while DHA supports cognitive function. Cod liver oil is also rich in vitamin A and vitamin D. Don’t confuse cod liver oil with fish oil! You would need 12,000 mg of fish oil to equal just one tablespoon of cod liver oil. You can not get vitamin A from fruits and vegetables. Beta-carotene is only a precursor to vitamin A, not the active form. Cod liver oil contains retinol, the active form of vitamin A. The most common autoimmune disease is Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism. There’s a significant link between vitamin A deficiency and hypothyroidism. There are vitamin A receptors inside of your white blood cells, so it’s crucial for immunity! Vitamin A also helps to regulate iodine. Vitamin A supports the mucus membranes of your mouth, sinuses, throat, and lungs, so it’s critical in preventing infections. It also supports the roots of the microvilli on the inside of your intestinal tract. Vitamin A supports the health of your retina. If you’re deficient in retinol (the active form of vitamin A), you can go blind. Cod liver oil is also a good source of vitamin D. Without vitamin D, you can't pull calcium and magnesium into the body. Beans, legumes, grains, and cereals are very high in phytic acid, which increases the need for vitamin D. If your diet is high in these foods, it’s easy to become deficient in vitamin D.
Sat, 24 Feb 2024 - 05min - 10806 - How to Fall Asleep in Less Than 1 Minute
In this podcast, I’m going to show you how to fall asleep fast with a simple sleep technique. First, let’s take a look at the reasons why you might be having trouble getting to sleep.
1. Overtraining or too much exercise causes the sympathetic nervous system to go up, keeping your adrenaline high and preventing sleep.
2. If your room is too hot, it can interfere with your sleep quality.
3. High carb consumption and stress deplete vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 is essential for the parasympathetic nervous system, so a deficiency will keep you up at night. Try taking vitamin B1 before bed for better sleep.
4. Too much caffeine is a common cause of poor sleep.
5. Poor gut health can inhibit good sleep. Kefir as a probiotic can help!
6. Insulin resistance inhibits the absorption of tryptophan, a precursor to melatonin. This can interfere with your ability to fall asleep fast.
7. Some people have trouble sleeping after being on keto or the carnivore diet for a long period of time. This is because their insulin is very low. Try having a cup of berries with your last meal to fix this problem.
8. Sodium deficiency can cause problems with your sleep. This can be caused by fasting, OMAD (one meal a day), or not adding enough sodium to your diet. Low sodium can cause your sympathetic nervous system to go up which can keep you from sleeping.
If you want to know how to fall asleep instantly, try this simple sleep technique! You’re going to breathe in a way that synchronizes your heartbeat and blood pressure to the rhythm of your breathing. This will help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, inducing sleep very quickly.
Try practicing with a timer first! Breathe in for 5 ½ seconds and breathe out for 5 ½ seconds. This will give you about 5 ½ breaths per minute. When doing this technique, breathe through your nose, and within minutes you will fall asleep.
Fri, 23 Feb 2024 - 04min - 10805 - The Top 3 Foods for Hair Loss
In this podcast, we're going to talk about the importance of histidine in helping to prevent hair loss and what foods you should incorporate into your diet to support healthy hair. A study has shown that over 90 percent of people suffering from alopecia are deficient in an amino acid called histidine. This essential amino acid is a precursor to histamine, which plays a vital role in immune reactions, allergies, and inflammation. Deficiencies in histidine can lead to anemia, while excessive intake can cause premature ejaculation. However, the right amount of histidine in your diet can promote healthy hair growth by helping to produce keratin and regulating copper and zinc levels. Certain medications and alcohol consumption may lower histidine levels in the body, while inadequate stomach acid can hinder its absorption from food sources. To counter this issue, betaine hydrochloride can be taken as an acidifier. But to fully utilize histidine, specific co-factors must be present, such as vitamin B6, proper copper and zinc ratios, and folate. The top three foods that can help combat hair loss are: 1. Organ meats, including liver, due to the histidine and other essential nutrients they contain. 2. Animal proteins, such as beef and chicken, are rich in histidine and other amino acids necessary for hair regeneration. 3. Shellfish, particularly shrimp, scallops, and crabs, provide high levels of zinc and copper that can help maintain proper ratios in the body. It's important to note that having enough folate in your diet is essential for hair development. It's best to obtain folate from natural sources, as taking supplements such as folic acid may inhibit the conversion of histidine into its active form.

Thu, 22 Feb 2024 - 05min - 10804 - How to Turn Your Stress to Zero
In this podcast, we're going to talk about the different factors that can contribute to anxiety and how they affect our bodies.
Anxiety is defined as worrying about something that may or may not happen. It can be triggered by speculation, sensationalism, or conjecture.
Speculation is when we are concerned about things not based on facts or knowledge, while sensationalism is the use of shocking words or exaggerated stories to grab attention. A conjecture, on the other hand, is an opinion based on guessing rather than the truth.
These triggers can cause anxiety that, if left unchecked, may become chronic and affect our adrenal glands. This, in turn, encourages the release of adrenaline and cortisol, weakening our immune system and accelerating the aging process.
Limiting exposure to stress through activities such as exercise and spending time in nature is essential to break this cycle. It’s also best to avoid negative messages and sensationalized news that provoke these anxious thoughts.
Additionally, incorporating adaptogens into our diet, such as vitamin B1 and ashwagandha, helps to strengthen our ability to cope with daily stress.

Tue, 20 Feb 2024 - 06min - 10802 - Sardines vs Cod Liver: Which is Better for You?
We’re going to talk about the health benefits of cod liver and sardines. Sardines are excellent for your health and a great source of omega-3s, but so is cod liver! You should consume both foods because they each have their own strengths. Cod liver and sardines contain omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. EPA helps reduce inflammation, while DHA supports the brain, nerves, and heart. Sardines contain .9 to 2 grams of omega-3 fatty acids per serving while cod liver contains 9 to 11 grams per serving. Cod liver also contains significantly more vitamin D. Sardines and cod liver contain vitamin A in its active form, retinol. Vitamin A supports vision, vision at night, and the inner mucosal membranes of your mouth, throat, sinuses, and lungs. It’s also important for your thyroid. Sardines contain 32 mcg of vitamin A, and cod liver contains 5100 mcg! Cod liver does not surpass sardines in all aspects. Sardines are a better source of protein. Cod liver is a rich source of folate at 300 mcg, while sardines only contain 10 mcg. Sardines contain 392 mg of calcium and 545 mg of phosphorus and cod liver contains 10 mg and 100 mg respectively. Cod liver and sardines contain about the same amount of B12 at 10.6 mcg and 11 mcg respectively. When comparing sardines to salmon, both fish contain B vitamins, but sardines are a better source of calcium, phosphorus, selenium, iron, magnesium, and zinc.
Sun, 18 Feb 2024 - 04min - 10801 - Preserving Your Muscles as You Age
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about preventing muscle loss due to aging. At around age 50, women go through menopause which causes hormonal changes. Men experience hormonal changes around age 60.
As you age and your hormones change, you can become deficient in skeletal muscle. This is known as sarcopenia. Around 40% of your metabolism is related to your muscles, so this can have detrimental effects.
In women, estrogen decreases with age, but progesterone drops even lower. Without progesterone, you end up with a lot of problems from estrogen.
Cholesterol is a building block for steroid hormones, like testosterone and estrogen, which directly affect your muscles. This is why low-cholesterol and low-fat diets can cause muscle loss. Coincidentally, this is why you see muscle damage and diseases associated with statin drugs.
Here are 6 ways to protect and support your hormones to help prevent muscle loss as you age:
1. Infrared light can increase melatonin. Sunlight, fire, and candles all provide infrared light.
2. Regular, consistent, resistance exercise is the most potent stimulator of muscle building.
3. Ensure adequate intake of high-quality animal protein. Aim for .8 to 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight each day.
4. Consume plenty of cholesterol from meat and dairy.
5. Try pregnenolone supplements. Start out with 30 mg per day for women and 100 mg for men.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for important hormones related to muscle building.
6. DHEA is a precursor for hormones that help build muscle. Try 25 mg for women and 100 mg for men.

Sat, 17 Feb 2024 - 09min - 10800 - Your Supplements Are a Lie… Really
Are multivitamins and other health supplements good for you?
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about vitamins and supplements. Sometimes, health supplements are discredited because they’re not regulated by the FDA the same way as pharmaceuticals, but it's important to understand the relationship between the FDA and pharmaceutical companies.
People often become employees of the FDA to secure a much higher-paying career at a pharmaceutical company. This plays a major role in the approval of drugs.
Many drugs are approved without enough evidence of safety. Overall, supplements are generally recognized as safe.
In 1989, a dozen people allegedly died from taking L-tryptophan. L-tryptophan is an amino acid that helps you sleep, has an anti-depressive factor, and curbs cravings. The problem arose from a contaminated batch of L-tryptophan that was made using genetically modified bacteria. There was a recall, and the FDA banned the supplement for 16 years.
Synthetic vitamins are much cheaper than natural vitamins but do not have the same effects on the body. Around ⅔ of vitamins come from raw materials made in China, all of which are synthetic, industrially-made compounds.
There are several reasons why we need vitamins and supplements and why some people need them more than others. The following factors will increase the need for vitamins and supplements:
• Food is grown in poor soils or hydroponically
• Genetics
• Chronic inflammation
• Frequent exercise
• Seed oil consumption
• Grain consumption
• Veganism
• Fasting
We have a very high need for some vitamins and minerals that require a large consumption of certain foods to achieve adequate intake. For example, you need 4700 mg of potassium each day.
Some deficiencies can be dangerous. Deficiencies in folate can mimic the same damage to your DNA as radiation.

Fri, 16 Feb 2024 - 14min - 10799 - We Need to Eat Bugs & Insects to Save the Planet
Are insects the sustainable food source of the future?
In this podcast, we’re going to take a look at edible bugs as an alternative protein source. Some say that we should be eating bugs by 2050 because of the growing population. Some blame climate change or claim that beef is not sustainable and that we need to find other sources of food.
One hundred grams of bugs contains about 12 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat, and 5 grams of carbs. If we were to eat insects as food, we’d need to eat 4x to 8x this amount to get enough protein! It could become quite expensive to consume this many bugs each day.
The cost of edible insects could be lowered by lowering the quality of what they’re fed, but then the bugs will be less nutritious with less protein. Eating insects would also require people to give up their cultural and traditional foods which is not likely.
When you compare bugs to beef, insects do not come close in terms of protein or nutritional value.
Insects also carry pathogens. A 2019 study evaluated several cricket farms that were developing edible insects. Around 81% of the crickets had parasites and 30% were potentially pathogenic. There's also a higher incidence of worms, viruses, bacteria, and fungus in crickets.
If you have an allergy to shellfish, you may also have an allergy to edible insects because they contain a similar protein.
Bugs have an exoskeleton mainly composed of chitin which is an antinutrient and can not be digested by our microbiome. Chitin also blocks vitamins A and E.
Thu, 15 Feb 2024 - 04min - 10798 - 8 Ways Your Body Tells You It Has a Disease
Today, we’re going to talk about some of the common signs of diseases. You can use your symptoms as indicators to understand what your body needs.
1. Heart attack/cardiovascular disease
Symptoms of heart disease include chest pain, left jaw pain, left shoulder pain, and pain that goes down your left arm. You might also feel dizzy or out of breath when walking upstairs.
Vitamin E in the form of tocotrienols and vitamin K2 can help support the health of your heart and arteries.
2. Stroke
Early warning signs of a stroke involve issues on one side of the body. You might also experience slurred speech. If you think you’re having a stroke, get to the emergency room quickly!
3. Infections
If you have an infection, you may experience a tickle in your throat, a cough that won’t go away, sneezing, or a runny nose. Take 50,000 IU of vitamin D3 and consume zinc, vitamin C, and echinacea. Don’t suppress your fever!
4. Fatty liver disease
If you have a fatty liver, you’ll have feelings of fullness, tightness, or tenderness under the right rib cage. You might experience referred pain in the right shoulder or right rhomboid.
Intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet may help reverse a fatty liver. It’s also important to avoid alcohol.
5. Gallstones
Warning signs of gallstones include dark urine, stool that floats, light-colored stool, and constipation. Gallstones are the result of low bile salts, so increasing bile salts may help.
6. Kidney stones
Pain in the abdomen on one side or flank pain can signify kidney stones. Try drinking 2 ounces of lemon juice with water. Take magnesium glycinate and avoid foods high in oxalates.
7. Ulcers
If you have an ulcer, you might feel burning stomach pain that typically feels better after eating. Wheatgrass juice powder with water and zinc carnosine may help improve your condition.
8. Diabetes
If you have diabetes, you’ll find it very difficult to skip a meal. You’ll likely experience carb cravings and need a nap after eating. Keto and intermittent fasting may greatly help improve your symptoms.

- 10796 - A Better Way to Eliminate Candida for Good
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about candida overgrowth. Candida is a fungal infection that typically affects the mouth, private areas, or toenails. Candida often develops after antibiotics destroy the bacteria that keep yeast and fungus at bay.
The majority of your gut microbiome is bacteria. However, you have a small percentage of yeast, fungus, and friendly candida. When antibiotics wipe out your friendly bacteria, this leaves room for candida overgrowth.
Some of the symptoms of candida overgrowth include itchiness, burning, fatigue, cracks at the corners of the mouth, and ammonia odor.
Candida changes your pH, making it more alkaline. Sugar is the primary fuel source of candida.
Other conditions can lower your immune system and cause candida overgrowth. HIV/AIDS, organ transplants, medications like Prednisone, pregnancy, and excessive sugar consumption can all cause candida.
Oftentimes, candida overgrowth is paired with a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D has antifungal properties and is also a broad-spectrum antimicrobial.
If you have candida, there are three things that you need to do!
1. Take 20,000 to 30,000 IU of vitamin D
2. Remove sugar from the diet
3. Consume probiotic foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, fermented vegetables)

Tue, 06 Feb 2024 - 03min - 10795 - The #1 Disease More Common than Heart Disease and Cancer
The incidence of autoimmune disease has tripled since the 50s and 60s. Let’s take a look at why that might be.
The immune system works to differentiate our cells and friendly microbes from external pathogens, viruses, and microbes.
Autoimmune diseases are typically caused by inflammation. Intestinal permeability, also known as leaky gut, is one of the most common culprits of autoimmune disease. When you have a leaky gut, food particles can leak out of the small intestine and confuse your immune system.
Chemicals from our environment can lead to inflammation in the gut. Most of the wheat in America is sprayed with glyphosate, which inflames the gut and destroys the microbiome. It also disturbs certain enzymes in the liver involved in detoxification.
If you have gut inflammation, you will have trouble absorbing vitamin D. Vitamin D is the most important vitamin for your immune system. Vitamin D is a powerful anti-inflammatory that helps to prevent autoimmune diseases.
Consumption of ultra-processed foods like seed oils, refined sugars, and refined starches also creates inflammation in your gut. Medications like PPIs can potentially contribute to autoimmune disease. Drug-induced lupus is directly linked to the use of PPIs.
Stress-induced autoimmune disease is very common. Many people experience a stressful event right before they develop an autoimmune disease. Stress activates cortisol, which paralyzes your immune system.
So what’s the solution?
1. Avoid seed oils and grains! Follow a keto diet and consume high-quality animal protein and healthy fats. Cook your vegetables and consume fermented vegetables. If you have bad gut inflammation, try the carnivore diet for a few months.
2. Consume 30,000 to 50,000 IU of vitamin D each day.
3. Consume red meat for L-glutamine or take a supplement.
4. Consume small amounts of colostrum.

Mon, 05 Feb 2024 - 07min - 10794 - Why Fasting Is MORE Important than Diet
In this podcast, I’m going to share why fasting is the most important thing you can do for your health. Your body has survival mechanisms that are activated when you’re fasting. Through fasting, every part of your body starts to improve.
To start intermittent fasting, you should first eliminate snacks. Second, eliminate breakfast and only consume lunch and dinner.
Once you get into an intermittent fasting routine, the health of your pancreas begins to improve. Frequent eating and poor diet keep your pancreas hard at work releasing insulin.
Many people will have normal blood sugar for years while high levels of insulin go undetected. Over time, this leads to insulin resistance, prediabetes, and diabetes.
Intermittent fasting repairs and protects the beta cells of the pancreas, helping to decrease insulin resistance. Because you’re not eating as frequently, your digestive system also has a chance to relax between meals.
An ideal intermittent fasting pattern to start off would involve 18 hours of fasting and two meals around 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Many people drop down to one meal a day which can help correct a slow metabolism, decrease inflammation, increase endogenous production of antioxidants, and combat insulin resistance.
Prolonged fasting offers even greater benefits! Prolonged fasting strengthens autophagy—the recycling of old, damaged proteins into healthy tissue. Prolonged fasting also allows your body to repair and clean out damaged mitochondria through a process known as mitochondrial biogenesis.
Prolonged fasting strengthens the stimulation of stem cells, which is why some people use prolonged fasting as a remedy for cancer.
Sun, 04 Feb 2024 - 07min - 10793 - 12 EASY Ways to Burn Fat Fast
In this podcast, I’m going to share 12 fat-burning tips that can help you burn fat quickly. When tapping into fat-burning, the goal is to leverage your actions to create the biggest effect on weight loss.
Here are my tips to help you burn fat fast!
1. Consume a moderate amount of high-quality animal protein.
Also, keep your carbs below 50 grams each day. Your body’s metabolic switch that allows you to tap into fat-burning is regulated by carb consumption.
2. Make your carbohydrates leafy greens.
You don’t have to worry about counting your carbs from vegetables. They also provide fiber, which is important for the health of your good microbes.
3. Don’t eat unless you’re hungry.
Don't get into the habit of eating according to the clock. Avoid eating just because everyone else is eating.
4. Try exercise snacks.
Take advantage of various opportunities during the day to get more exercise. Take breaks during computer work and go for a walk.
5. Avoid grains.
Avoid all grains, even those that are gluten-free. Consuming fiber with an inflamed gut feeds pathogens. Glutamine found in meat and cabbage helps heal the gut.
6. No junk food in the house.
Don't tempt yourself! If there’s junk food in the house, you’ll probably eat it.
7. Avoid locations where you will be tempted.
Restaurants and social events can be sources of temptation. Avoid these places if necessary.
8. Avoid dead food.
Food that has been ultra-processed and lasts forever is “dead”. This includes canned, boxed, and highly refined foods.
9. Try cold therapy.
Cold showers, cold immersions, and more outside time during the winter can increase fat-burning.
10. Try adaptogens to help reduce stress.
Adaptogens like ashwagandha, vitamin B1, and vitamin D can help to reduce stress levels to speed up fat-burning.
11. Avoid glyphosate.
Glyphosate acts as an antibiotic in the body and can negatively affect your microbes. Glyphosate is high in cereals, corn, soy, canola, wheat products, and foods that aren’t organic.
12. Consume apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) helps support weight loss, stabilize blood sugar, and reduce insulin resistance.
Sat, 03 Feb 2024 - 07min - 10792 - Look Younger Instantly: The Secret
In this podcast, I’m going to share some tips to help you look younger instantly! Many people try to look younger by working from the outside in, but the best way to look younger is to work from the inside out. A proper diet is essential for a youthful appearance.
Advanced glycation end products are a combination of sugar and protein. As these compounds accumulate in the body, they can make you appear older. AGEs can also lead to chronic inflammation and chronic disease.
Advanced glycation end products can be found in foods like ribs, meatloaf, and junk foods. Sugar consumption can also create these compounds inside of your body. Similarly, advanced lipoxidation end products are the result of fat bound to glucose or sugar.
If you want to look younger, avoid AGEs and ALEs. These compounds can cause oxidation in the body. Too much oxidation and not enough antioxidants lead to oxidative stress.
To increase antioxidants, try the following:
•Consume animals that are grass-fed
•Consume cruciferous vegetables
•Start fasting
•Exercise
•Get plenty of sleep
Autophagy is a state in which your body starts recycling old, damaged cells. Autophagy can help you look younger! Frequent eating, high sugar consumption, high grain consumption, and the consumption of ultra-processed foods all stop autophagy.
Ultra-processed foods are foods that are altered or modified in an extreme way. The more of these foods that you eat, the older and unhealthier you will look.
A healthy liver and adequate bile are essential for youthfulness. Bile is necessary to extract fat-soluble vitamins from your food. Consume healthy, stable saturated fats and avoid highly inflammatory seed oils like soy, cottonseed, canola, safflower, and sunflower oils.
Cholesterol plays an important role in making hormones and cell membranes. If you want to look younger, consume plenty of omega-3 fatty acids. Healthy amounts of sunlight can also help you look younger and healthier.
Fri, 02 Feb 2024 - 15min - 10791 - Eating Eggs Increases the Risk of Dying from Heart Disease
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about some of the new data surrounding eggs and their role in heart disease. Out of ten recent studies on eggs and heart disease, all of the studies were observational, and all but two of the studies were self-reported.
Studies that require people to recall everything that they’ve eaten over a period of time are generally inaccurate. People often forget what they’ve eaten and focus on the positive things they can remember eating rather than reporting the negative.
Questionnaires do not prove causation. There was also a conflict of interest in many of these studies.
Eggs are one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can consume. The egg yolk contains almost every nutrient except vitamin C.
Egg yolks from pasture-raised eggs are an excellent source of the following:
•Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12
•The active form of vitamin A (retinol)
•Vitamin E
•Vitamin K2
•Vitamin D
•Omega-3 fatty acids
•Potassium, magnesium, and selenium
Eggs are the best source of protein next to human breast milk and are one of the best sources of choline.
Egg yolks promote healthy levels of cholesterol. They can increase HDL cholesterol and can increase the size of your LDL cholesterol. Egg yolks are the perfect combination of protein and fat and can help reduce insulin resistance.
Egg yolks contain lutein and zeaxanthin—carotenoids that are most commonly found in vegetables. These carotenoids are more bioavailable in eggs and help protect the eye from macular degeneration and cataracts. They also protect the endothelial tissue inside of your arteries.
Eggs don't cause heart problems—they help with heart problems!

Thu, 01 Feb 2024 - 09min - 10790 - How to Burn Fat–Dr. Berg Explains
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the hormones that affect fat burning and fat storage. Insulin is one of the most important hormones related to fat burning. It’s produced in the pancreas and tells your body to store fat.
You can not burn fat if insulin is too high. Aim for less than 50 grams of carbs per day to avoid spiking insulin. Intermittent fasting can also help prevent insulin spikes.
Seed oils and modified food starches like MSG trigger insulin and inflammation and should be avoided.
To help lower insulin, do the following:
1. Lower your carbohydrate intake
2. Do intermittent fasting
3. Drink apple cider vinegar with water
4. Consume berberine and cinnamon
Estrogen and cortisol can also cause your body to store fat. To lower estrogen, avoid synthetic hormones and chemicals in your environment. Choose organic foods to avoid pesticides and herbicides that mimic estrogen in the body.
To minimize cortisol, focus on stress reduction. Physical activity like housework, long walks, or exercise can get your mind off of stress. Vitamin B1 and vitamin D are also very important for keeping cortisol levels low.
Growth hormone and IGF-1 (Insulin-like growth factor 1) are the main hormones involved in fat burning. Intense exercise, good sleep habits, moderate protein intake, and intermittent fasting trigger growth hormone and IGF-1. Sprinting is one of the best workouts to trigger these hormones to burn fat.
Testosterone, glucagon, thyroid hormone (T3), and adrenaline are also important for fat-burning. To boost testosterone naturally, ensure that you’re consuming foods high in zinc and make sure you’re getting enough cholesterol.
Exercise is important, but only contributes to about 15% of your overall weight loss. Exercise can lower stress, improve sleep, and also trigger glucagon and adrenaline.
Wed, 31 Jan 2024 - 09min - 10789 - The #1 Fattest Country in the World
Today we’re going to talk about the fattest country in the world. In this country, the average person weighs 225 pounds. This country also has the highest rate of diabetes. Nauru, a small island in the South Pacific with a population of 11,000, is the fattest country in the world.
The island of Nauru was a rich source of phosphate and quickly became one of the richest countries in the world. When all of the phosphate was depleted from the land, the country went into a deep state of poverty where it has remained ever since.
Nauru’s obesity rate went from 2% to 61%. This was caused by the shift from a traditional diet of fish, coconuts, fruits, vegetables, taro, palm oil, and coconut oil without any grains or seed oils to a Westernized diet of processed foods.
Nauru’s soils have been depleted, so they’re no good for growing food. Over 40% of the marine life has been destroyed by pollution, and nearly 100% of the food is imported. Even water must be imported into Nauru.
Ultra-processed foods typically contain the following three types of ingredients that can cause many consequences for your health:
1. Artificial starches: Modified food starch, modified corn starch, maltodextrin
2. Synthetic sugars: Corn syrup, glucose syrup
3. Highly inflammatory seed oils: Corn, cottonseed, canola, soy, and safflower oils
Seed oils are the only trending item that parallels obesity, even more than sugar! They create nutritional deficiencies, inflammation, and cause you to feel hungry after eating.
Tue, 30 Jan 2024 - 05min - 10788 - What to Drink When Fasting: Dr. Berg Guide
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about what to drink while fasting. Water won’t kick you out of ketosis, but water quality varies greatly. Tap water is generally pretty toxic, and plastic water bottles contain microplastics. Glass water bottles are a better option, but they can be costly. Canned water often contains BPA. Unless you have access to a well or spring water, a water filter is best. Crystal Quest water filters are cost-efficient and work well. Some people find that they feel more hydrated after drinking carbonated water. Carbonated water contains carbon dioxide, which helps drive oxygen into your tissues. Carbonated water is also slightly more acidic, which may be helpful for digestion. You can add apple cider vinegar to your water to increase energy, help with insulin resistance, improve mitochondrial function, and help improve a fatty liver. While fasting, you can also add electrolyte powder or sea salt to your water. If you’re doing one meal a day, it's especially important you’re getting enough salt. Stevia is fine on keto, but oftentimes, you’ll see maltodextrin added to stevia-sweetened beverages. Keto-friendly sweeteners that will not kick you out of ketosis include erythritol, monk fruit, and stevia. You can drink coffee without sugar while fasting—just be careful not to overdo it with caffeine. Try using heavy cream for your coffee rather than half-and-half. Bulletproof coffee involves adding coconut oil, MCT oil, or butter to your coffee. For some people, this can hinder weight loss. Tea is also fine while fasting. Coffee and tea can sometimes deplete vitamin B1. If this happens to you, simply supplement vitamin B1 and decrease your consumption of coffee and tea. Most people can not consume coconut water while fasting due to its sugar content. Alcohol kicks you out of ketosis and autophagy. Kombucha is okay in small amounts, but don’t consume too much because it is high in sugar. Shakes or smoothies are fine on keto but can inhibit fasting because of the calories. Smoothies are better consumed closer to a meal, not while you’re fasting.

Sun, 28 Jan 2024 - 10min - 10786 - The Healthiest Foods You Need in Your Diet
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the healthiest foods and some of the unhealthiest foods. Food is defined as that which is eaten to sustain life, provide energy, and promote the growth and repair of tissues.
By this definition, everything we eat should not be defined as food! Ultra-processed foods do not sustain life, provide energy, or promote the growth of tissues. Ultra-processed foods, also known as junk foods, create the most disease.
Ultra-processed foods can be described as foods that have been altered in an extreme way, either chemically, mechanically, or with heat. These “foods” should be completely eliminated from the diet.
Foods like Doritos are packed full of chemically altered GMO ingredients. They contain large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids and are shelf-stable for long periods of time.
Ultra-processed foods often contain three main ingredients: synthetic sugars, synthetic starches, and synthetic seed oils. Avoid these ingredients.
Here are the 8 healthiest foods:
1. Red meat–Grass-fed, grass-finished beef is excellent for your health and is one of the highest sources of glutamine.
2. Wild-caught fatty fish–Salmon and other fatty fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
3. Shellfish–Shrimp, clams, mussels, and other shellfish contain omega-3s, but they’re also a rich source of trace minerals. Oysters are one of the best sources of zinc.
4. Eggs–Choose organic pasture-raised eggs.
5. Fermented vegetables–Sauerkraut and kimchi are excellent sources of probiotics and vitamin C.
6. Leafy greens–Arugula, spinach, and high-quality lettuce contain folate, vitamin C, magnesium, and potassium. Consuming dairy with spinach can reduce oxalates.
7. Organ meats–Beef liver, cod liver, and other organ meats are rich in many vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals.
8. Herbs and spices–Garlic, onion, sage, thyme, sea salt, basil, and cinnamon all have unique properties and important health benefits.
Sat, 27 Jan 2024 - 10min - 10785 - How to ruin your health
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find good information on how to support a healthy body.
Sifting through the various ideas on health and wellness can be overwhelming, and many suggestions are outdated at best—and deadly at worst.
If you want to ruin your health, common health advice like eating everything in moderation or having multiple small meals a day are good places to start.
If you want to take back your health—if you want to know how to thrive and not just (barely) survive, you’ve made it to the right place.
In my videos, articles, books, and many other resources, I don’t just focus on weight loss. I promote a healthy, natural way of supporting the body and taking your well-being to the next level.
Remember, it’s not "lose weight to get healthy." It’s "get healthy to lose weight."
Fri, 26 Jan 2024 - 07min - 10784 - The Silent Signs of Dementia: Watch Out for These 10 Warning Signs
In this podcast, we’re going to look at some of the signs and causes of dementia and things you can do to combat dementia.
The first sign of dementia can occur as early as ten years before you have any cognitive changes. It takes many years for dementia to develop, and sensory changes that involve the loss of smell and vision often occur well before any other symptoms.
Here are 10 of the most common early signs of dementia:
1. Sensory problems (loss of smell)
2. Sensory problems (vision)
3. Sleeping problems
4. Agitation/Low tolerance to stress
5. Restlessness
6. Aggression
7. Memory issues
8. Emotional drop (depression, anxiety, lack of emotion)
9. Incontinence
10. Constipation
Memory issues can show up as an inability to recognize the time on a clock, mixing up words, lagging before answering questions, loss of spatial recognition, and lack of focus or concentration.
Chronic inflammation and insulin resistance are often seen in people who have dementia. Insulin resistance deprives the nerve cells of fuel, which is why Alzheimer's is commonly referred to as type 3 diabetes.
Chronic inflammation can be caused by poor diet and consuming refined sugars, refined starches, and refined oils. Head trauma, heavy metals, infection, and high blood pressure can also contribute to dementia.
So, what can you do? Here are 11 ways to effectively combat dementia:
1. Exercise
2. Have good sleep habits
3. Get on the Healthy Keto Diet
4. Do intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting
5. Increase omega-3 fatty acids
6. Increase intake of B vitamins
7. Increase vitamin D
8. Try using a sauna
9. Take resveratrol and NAD
10. Consume probiotics
11. Try cold therapy

Thu, 25 Jan 2024 - 13min - 10783 - The Ultimate Natural Antibiotic Drink (Home Remedy Formula)
In this podcast, I’m going to share a recipe for a powerful, natural antibiotic drink that you can make at home.
The overuse of antibiotics is a major issue in the United States. Overuse of antibiotics leads to antibiotic resistance. This means that the microbes that are not killed by the antibiotics become stronger and resistant. When you take antibiotics again, they don’t work as well anymore.
Antibiotics do not kill yeast or viruses, but they do kill good microbes that keep the yeast at bay. This is why a common side effect of antibiotics is an overgrowth of candida or yeast.
Weaker antibiotics like penicillin and tetracycline work by slowing the growth of microbial reproduction. Stronger antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin come with strong side effects and a black box warning.
If you have to take stronger antibiotics, always take magnesium, vitamin E, and probiotics along with them. After taking antibiotics, it could take weeks or even years to get your original microbes back. Because 80% of your immune system is your microbiome, this can have detrimental effects on your natural immunity.
Antibiotics naturally come from molds and other microorganisms found in the soil. These natural compounds have anti-inflammatory effects, antimicrobial effects, anti-diabetic effects, and anticancer effects.
Here is the recipe for a natural antibiotic drink that should be taken at the first sign of a cough or illness:
•3 cloves garlic
•90 drops Echinacea extract
•1 whole organic lemon (peel included)
•1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
•1 tablespoon raw honey
•16 ounces water
Blend all ingredients for about 45 seconds. Drink ⅓ of the mixture 3 times per day. If you’re in the middle of an infection, do this for the duration of the infection. You should notice a diminishing of symptoms, and you should sleep better.
Also, take 50,000 IUs of vitamin D3 and 100 to 150 mg of zinc to boost your immune system.

Wed, 24 Jan 2024 - 09min - 10782 - The Fastest Way to Lose Belly Fat
Today, I’m going to share a few weight loss tips that will help you tap into fat-burning very quickly. Weight loss can be simple if you utilize the right techniques!
1. Follow a keto diet—consume the right fats and the right types of protein.
A keto diet is low in carbs, but there are some specific guidelines you should follow to lose weight quickly. Avoid omega-6 fatty acids found in seed oils like corn oil, soy oil, cottonseed oil, canola oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil.
Consumption of these ultra-processed, highly inflammatory seed oils directly correlates with obesity rates. Seed oils are often hidden in salad dressings and fast food and can even be found in animal feed.
It’s also important to choose the correct proteins on keto. Opt for high-quality proteins like grass-fed, grass-finished beef and wild-caught fish.
2. Eat a large salad every day.
A large salad each day provides potassium, magnesium, folate, vitamin C, and phytonutrients. If your salad greens are grown in healthy, living soil, the salad also provides probiotics. This helps diversify the microbiome, helping you to lose weight quickly.
If you have gut issues, consume fermented vegetables or eliminate vegetables altogether.
3. Combine the ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting.
To lose fat quickly, combine keto with intermittent fasting. Dropping to one meal per day (OMAD) yields the fastest results.
On one meal a day, you will fast for 23 hours. This gets your body adapted to running on fat very quickly. You’ll also notice cognitive improvements, positive mood changes, and decreased inflammation.
4. Exercise regularly, but don’t overdo it!
Walking and HIIT are the best exercises to lose belly fat fast. Walking every day speeds up weight loss, reduces stress, and improves sleep. Improved sleep reduces cortisol and enhances growth hormones, both of which are necessary for weight loss.
HIIT exercise involves short, intense workouts that work all muscle groups. Do not overdo it with exercise! You only need to do HIIT 1 to 3 days per week.

Tue, 23 Jan 2024 - 09min - 10781 - The Black Seed Oil Benefits You Never Heard About
Today, we’re going to talk about the many uses and benefits of black seed oil. Black seed oil is beneficial for the following:
•Asthma
•Allergies
•Digestion
•Cancer
•Skin inflammation
•Diabetes
•Insulin resistance
Black seed oil supports the beta cells found in the pancreas that regulate insulin, which helps support a healthy weight. Black seed oil also supports healthy immune function, specifically protecting against autoimmune diseases.
T-regulatory cells work to dampen an overactive immune system, which helps prevent and decrease autoimmune responses. Black seed oil supports this function of the immune system.
Black seed oil helps regulate inflammation and helps increase interferon—an immune compound that interferes with the function of infections and viruses. It’s also rich in a compound known as thymoquinone.
Many different cultures have used black seed oil for several thousand years. It was even found in King Tut’s tomb!
Some people take black seed oil to support brain health because it can increase acetylcholine—a neurotransmitter that can help improve memory, the ability to learn, focus, and concentration. It’s also helpful for inflammatory conditions of the skin, like dermatitis.
Black seed oil can be taken orally or used topically. Try taking between one and three teaspoons of black seed oil per day, starting with half of a teaspoon and working your way up.
If you want to use black seed oil topically, try using it with DMSO. DMSO has unique properties and the ability to penetrate deep into the tissues. A 50/50 mixture of black seed oil and DMSO applied topically to an inflamed joint can provide even greater relief than using black seed oil alone.

Mon, 22 Jan 2024 - 05min - 10780 - The Truth about Fasting: How It Works
Today, we’re going to examine the amazing benefits of fasting. Not only is fasting the most powerful thing you can do for weight loss, but it’s also an effective natural remedy for countless health conditions. Fasting addresses the deeper root causes of many health problems: insulin resistance and mitochondrial damage.
Intermittent fasting activates growth hormone and lowers insulin, allowing you to tap into your fat cells. If insulin is high, fat can not be utilized for energy.
One of the best indicators that intermittent fasting is working is that your appetite will go away. Fasting also offers cognitive benefits. It eliminates brain fog and improves focus, concentration, and memory. It also elevates your mood and improves the immune system.
Fasting is not starving! Your stored body fat provides energy while you’re not eating. The average person has over 100,000 calories of stored energy in their fat cells.
Prolonged fasting involves fasting for a couple of days or longer. Prolonged fasting helps generate stem cells for your immune system. It also puts your body into autophagy—a state where it cleans up old damaged cells, recycling them into new cells.
Fasting repairs your metabolism—it doesn’t slow it down. It also gives the digestive system a chance to reset, resulting in less bloating and less inflammation in the gut.
Follow these steps to start intermittent fasting:
1. Go on a low-carb diet and eliminate snacks
2. Gradually push back your breakfast until your first meal is around lunch-time
3. Establish an intermittent fasting routine that allows for at least 18 hours of fasting
Once you’ve established an intermittent fasting routine, periodic prolonged fasting can increase benefits.
Sun, 21 Jan 2024 - 20min - 10779 - The Ultimate Face Transformation–Dr. Berg's Best Remedy for Dry Skin and Wrinkles
In this podcast, we’re going to look at some of the causes of dry skin and wrinkles, as well as the best natural remedies. Anything you put on the skin gets directly absorbed into your body.
Many chemicals are lurking in your skincare products and makeup. Along with the things we apply directly to our skin, pollution, smoking, diet, and UV radiation all affect the health and look of our skin.
Because your skin is mainly composed of protein and fat, a low-fat diet is one of the worst things for your skin. Seed oils, synthetic starches, and synthetic sugars also have detrimental effects on your skin health.
Seed oils like corn oil, cottonseed oil, canola oil, soy oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil are very high in omega-6 fatty acids. These highly processed oils are deodorized and decolorized and are made using solvents like hexane. They can get lodged into your membranes and can stay there for two and a half to three years.
When you consume too many omega-6 fatty acids (seed oils) and not enough omega-3 fatty acids, you develop dry, red, flaky skin. Your skin may also start to look older.
Grass-fed beef tallow is very similar to your skin’s natural sebum and will not oxidize the skin or cause inflammation. Tallow contains vitamins A, D, E, and K and the compound CLA, which helps the skin retain moisture.
Tallow softens the skin and leaves it with a healthy glow. The nutrients in tallow can also help eliminate dark spots and wrinkles.
Tallow is fifty percent saturated fat and contains oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and linoleic acid—all of which have positive benefits for your skin.
For better skin, remove seed oils from the diet, apply tallow to the skin, and consume more omega-3 fatty acids. You should notice improvement in your skin in a matter of weeks.

Sat, 20 Jan 2024 - 06min - 10778 - The #1 Top Remedy for Dental Plaque (TARTAR)
In this video, I’m going to show you how to make natural toothpaste to help eliminate tartar and prevent it from coming back.
Tartar is a calcified, pale, yellow, hard substance that accumulates on your teeth. It can lead to gingivitis as well as bad breath. Tartar is made up of a colony of bacteria that survives in something called a biofilm.
Biofilms contain bacteria, fungi, yeast, and candida. Tartar biofilms ferment carbohydrates in your mouth and release lactic acid, which can leach away your calcium and cause cavities.
Many ancient cultures used natural toothpaste, but these recipes were very abrasive and wore down the teeth.
This homemade toothpaste recipe is far more gentle yet still effective at removing plaque. To make this toothpaste, combine the following ingredients:
•3 drops of either clove oil, peppermint oil, or cinnamon oil, or a pinch of turmeric powder
•¼ teaspoon hydrogen peroxide
•¼ teaspoon baking soda
•¼ teaspoon raw honey or manuka honey
•½ cup water
Mix these ingredients and brush your teeth with the mixture using a soft bristle toothbrush twice per day.
Vitamin K2 has also shown promising results in removing and preventing tartar buildup.

Fri, 19 Jan 2024 - 05min - 10777 - The BEST Drink for a Fatty Liver
In this podcast, we’re going to look at some of the benefits of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice and how they can be used to make an effective, natural liver cleanser.
The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar is the main source of its benefits. Apple cider vinegar can help combat insulin resistance and make you more sensitive to insulin.
When you’re more insulin-sensitive, you have better blood sugar, better cognitive function, less stored fat in the liver, and less inflammation.
Apple cider vinegar also helps reduce oxidative stress and can slow free radical damage. It helps you store glycogen in the liver, which helps with exercise and stamina. Apple cider vinegar improves digestion and can decrease bloating and appetite.
Fairchild’s Apple Cider Vinegar is a great option because it’s organic and not diluted. Organic apple cider vinegar is the best choice, and “the mother” is not always necessary.
Lemon juice has potent anti-inflammatory properties and is packed full of antioxidants. You can juice a lemon or blend the whole lemon for even more benefits.
Lemon contains citric acid, which prevents kidney stones and supports your cells’ mitochondria. Lemons have a powerful hepatoprotective effect and can help reduce liver enzymes, especially after drinking alcohol.
Research suggests that lemons can help decrease fat in your liver and help correct cholesterol imbalances. Lemon is also effective against free radical damage and oxidative stress.
To make a simple, natural liver cleanser, combine 12 to 16 ounces of water, one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Drink the mixture with a straw to protect your teeth.
If you experience burning in your stomach or suspect that you have an ulcer, don’t drink this—instead, focus on natural ways to heal your ulcer first.

Wed, 17 Jan 2024 - 09min - 10775 - The #1 Worst Food for Your Heart (HINT: It's Not Sugar)
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the absolute worst food for your heart! Here are some of the side effects:
•Primary driver of heart disease
•Creates inflammation inside the arteries
•Consumption directly correlates with heart disease
•Creates oxidative LDL inside your arteries
•Increases the risk of developing metabolic syndrome
•Causes lipid peroxidation
•Increases the risk of clotting
•Creates oxidative stress
This food is an industrial product that is heated five times, contains added chemicals, and is devoid of anything living at all. The food we’re talking about is seed oil!
Vegetable oil is one of the most commonly used seed oils and isn’t really made of vegetables at all. Seed oils are generally composed of corn, cottonseed, canola, or soy oil.
Vegetable oil is an unsaturated fatty acid, so it’s very unstable and susceptible to oxidation. Light, air, oxygen, and temperature can all cause seed oils to oxidize.
Seed oils are in so many of our foods. They’re used in cooking but also used in salad dressings, condiments, and in almost all ultra-processed foods.
Most of the information available to the public tells us that polyunsaturated fatty acids (seed oils/PUFAs) are not bad for us.
Two popular studies on PUFAs are The Finnish Mental Hospital Study and The Los Angeles Veterans Administration Study. Both of these studies have several flaws. They weren’t randomized, and there were many other variables, like participants on medications and those who smoked.
Check labels to avoid seed oil consumption. Condiments and salad dressings often contain seed oils, so opt for versions without, or you can even make your own. Use butter, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and lard for cooking instead of seed oils.
Seed oils are too high in omega-6 fatty acids. Typically, you want a 1:1 ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. When omega-6 fatty acids are too high, it can cause inflammation and other issues.

Tue, 16 Jan 2024 - 11min - 10774 - Rid Throat and Sinus Mucus with SALT
Today, we’re going to take a look at how salt can effectively get rid of bacteria, fungi, yeast, and mold in the body. Salt causes water to move out of the cell, eliminating these pathogens through dehydration.
Salt thins mucus with this same mechanism. Salt removes water from the mucus, making it thinner so that it can be more easily expelled from the body.
To eliminate mucus using salt, dissolve a teaspoon of sea salt (not table salt) in a glass of water. Drink or gargle the salt water. This exposes the mouth and throat to salt, which helps to get rid of mucus, improves immunity, and strengthens the autonomic nervous system.
You can also use diluted apple cider vinegar. This changes the pH and helps kill microbes.
A Neti pot uses nasal irrigation to gently send a stream of diluted salt water through your sinuses, helping to thin the mucus. If you have a constant post-nasal drip, you may have a fungal infection or mold issue going on in your sinuses, and cutting sugar from your diet may help.
You can also use a humidifier with a saltwater solution while you sleep. A humidifier turns liquid into vapor, allowing you to inhale the salt water. Halotherapy, or salt therapy, can also be beneficial.
If none of these remedies seem to be working, an ear infection could be the source of your mucus. In this case, try putting four to five drops of saltwater directly into each ear. You can try the same thing with diluted apple cider vinegar or use one drop of garlic oil in each ear.
Vitamin D supports your immune system and helps prevent mucus. Vitamin D deficiencies are associated with enlarged tonsils, sinus allergies, sinus mucus, and ear infections. Try taking 20,000 to 50,000 IU of vitamin D once per week to address mucus.

Mon, 15 Jan 2024 - 11min - 10773 - Get INSTANT Relief for Trigeminal Neuralgia (Tic Douloureux)
We’re going to look at some of the causes of trigeminal neuralgia and potential remedies.
There are two types of trigeminal neuralgia. Type 1 trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by unilateral, sudden, brief, shooting, or stabbing pain. It can reoccur every two seconds to two minutes from twice a day to 200 times per day. Type 2 trigeminal neuralgia is described as achy and chronic rather than intense.
Research has found associations between polyunsaturated fatty acids and several chronic diseases, including trigeminal neuralgia. Omega-6 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that are highly inflammatory and are a large part of the average diet.
Research involving cadavers showed that many people who had trigeminal neuralgia also had certain viruses known to infect the ganglion (nerve bundles). The following viruses have been associated with trigeminal neuralgia:
•Herpes virus (HHV6)
•Shingles
•Epstein-Barr virus
•Cytomegaloviruses
These viruses are considered latent viruses because they go in and out of remission. Extract from shiitake mushrooms, known as AHCC, high doses of vitamin D3 combined with zinc, berberine, and stress reduction can help put these viruses back into remission.
PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide) + Luteolin can support your nerve tissue directly and target inflammation. DMSO is another powerful and penetrative anti-inflammatory that has been used to decrease phantom pain, post-operative pain, post-traumatic pain, and trigeminal neuralgia.
There’s an amazing technique that can reduce trigeminal neuralgia pain very quickly. It’s not a permanent fix, but I've seen it work to relieve pain in about 70% of cases.
Try the following technique for instant trigeminal neuralgia pain relief:
1. Isolate where the pain is coming from
2. Locate the mirror image on the opposite side of the body
3. Massage the area on the opposite side of the body (you should notice tenderness)
4. Check the bad side to determine changes to your pain level
5. Continue until your pain is manageable

The liver removes toxins from the body, turning them into harmless water-soluble particles. The liver can have three main problems affecting its function: a fatty liver, inflammation of the liver, and scar tissue or cirrhosis of the liver.
Among many other things, the liver helps:
•Turn ammonia into urea
•Buffer/regulate hormones
•Convert thyroid hormone T4 to T3
•Support growth hormone and IGF-1
•Activate vitamin D
•Produce bile
•Store glycogen
•Support immune function
Alcohol and excessive sugar intake negatively affect your liver function, as well as the following:
1. Soy protein isolates
2. Seed oils
3. High-fructose corn syrup
4. Refined starches
5. Glucose syrup
Ultra-processed foods are very damaging to the liver. Keep your liver healthy by eating whole foods and avoiding GMO foods, heavily processed foods, and synthetic ingredients.
Incorporate the following foods into your diet to support the health and function of your liver:
1. Healthy fats (olive oil, MCT oil, grass-fed butter)
2. Fatty fish (wild-caught)
3. Organic pasture-raised eggs
4. Leafy green vegetables
5. Cruciferous vegetables
6. Probiotic foods
7. Grass-fed meat
There are two incredible supplements that can help reverse liver damage. Tocotrienols are a type of vitamin E that provides excellent support for your liver. Tudca is a type of bile salt that can help prevent the build-up of bile.

Sat, 13 Jan 2024 - 19min - 10771 - No More Sleepless Nights: The Ultimate Cure for Waking Up to Pee at Night (Nocturia)
In this podcast, we’re going to look at the causes of nocturia and the best natural solutions. Nocturia is the urge to urinate at night when you should be sleeping, and it can interfere with your ability to get a good night’s sleep.
Nocturia is usually said to be caused by a bladder infection, a kidney infection, prostate issues, or aging.
People with nocturia are not typically urinating a full bladder of urine. This means there must be an issue with the sensors in the bladder or the valve of the bladder.
If there’s too much sugar in the blood, a phenomenon known as osmotic diuresis can occur. This causes excess sugar and water to be excreted, which is why diabetics and people who are obese are at an increased risk for nocturia. If you have sleep apnea, you are also at an increased risk for nocturia.
Insulin resistance is the leading cause of obesity, diabetes, and sleep apnea, all of which lead to nocturia. Research has shown that insulin resistance itself can cause nocturia.
The best way to address nocturia is to fix insulin resistance. To do this, stop snacking at night and work towards eliminating snacking altogether. Cut down your carb intake to less than 30 grams per day and do intermittent fasting. To speed things up, try consuming one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before meals and exercise regularly.

Fri, 12 Jan 2024 - 07min - 10770 - Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) Deficiency Signs, Symptoms, and Treatment Benefits
Today, we’re going to take a look at vitamin B1, also known as thiamine. Vitamin B1 is intimately involved with the function of the mitochondria, so if you’re deficient, low energy is one of the first symptoms.
The more carbs and sugar you consume, the more B1 you need. This is because vitamin B1 is necessary to burn glucose.
Even on a ketogenic diet, you'll still burn glucose for certain functions of the body. Vitamin B1 is water soluble, so it isn't stored in the body for long periods. This makes it easier to become deficient.
B1 is also important for the myelin sheath—the coating on your nerves. B1 is crucial for the proper function of the autonomic nervous system and specifically affects the vagus nerve.
The following conditions and symptoms are related to a deficiency in vitamin B1:
•Gastroparesis (slow digestive system)
•GERD
•Peripheral neuropathy
•Regurgitation of bile
•Excessive sweating or no sweating at all
•Excessive tears or no tears at all
•Dizziness when standing up
•Irritability
•Low tolerance for stress
•Trouble regulating body temperature
•Increased pulse rate
If you have a more severe B1 deficiency, you might experience the following:
•Enlarged heart
•Edema
•Confusion
•Memory loss
•Nystagmus
•Ataxia
•Hearing loss
•Sleep apnea
•Trouble breathing
Avoid synthetic B1, which is sometimes made with hydrochloric acid, acetone, ammonia, and coal tar. Allithiamine and benfotiamine are the two best options for vitamin B1 supplements.
Drugs can also affect the absorption of vitamin B1. Metformin, diuretics, and certain antibiotics can lead to vitamin B1 deficiency. Low magnesium can affect vitamin B1 absorption as well.

Thu, 11 Jan 2024 - 11min - 10769 - Get Rid of Puffy Eyes for Good (Updated Version)
Today, I’m going to tell you how you can easily get rid of puffy eyes. Puffy eyes are also referred to as eye bags or periorbital edema. Puffy eyes are often treated medically with steroids, antihistamines, and other medications.
Cucumbers and undereye patches can provide temporary relief but do not solve the problem.
High levels of sodium can cause puffy eyes, and the kidneys are often involved, but the root cause of puffy eyes is too much sugar in the bloodstream.
When you have too much sugar in your bloodstream, you also have too much insulin in your bloodstream. This can eventually lead to insulin resistance and cause your body to retain sodium.
After long periods of excessive sugar consumption, your kidneys can become overloaded. This often shows up in the eyelids before other parts of the body.
Excessive sugar consumption causes fluid retention and sodium retention along with the following:
•Decreased potassium
•Activation of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight)
•Increased renin
If you want to get rid of puffy eyes, you need to remove the sugar from your diet. You should also increase your potassium intake.

Wed, 10 Jan 2024 - 04min - 10768 - THIS Is Why You Should STOP Eating Sugar - by Dr. Berg
In this podcast, we’re going to take a look at some of the amazing health benefits you’ll experience if you eliminate sugar from your diet for two weeks.
The following side effects can occur in as little as two weeks without sugar:
•Slimmer face (less round/puffy)
•Less puffy eyelids
•Reduced belly fat
•No more carb cravings
•Decreased hunger/more satisfaction after meals
•Improved mood
•Improved attention and focus (mental clarity)
•No more fluid retention
•Decreased pain and inflammation
•Decreased bloating and abdominal pain
•Improved sleep quality
•More relaxation/decreased adrenal stress
•Improved skin
When avoiding sugar, you also need to avoid refined starches, which can be even worse than sugar! Refined starches go through a refining process known as hydrolysis, which breaks the starches down. This process causes a more significant effect on your blood sugar than sugar itself.
For example, maltodextrin has a glycemic index between 110 and 136, while sugar and glucose have a glycemic index of 65 and 100, respectively.
Maltodextrin is found in countless food products, including certain health food products. If maltodextrin is added to a food product at less than .5 grams per serving size, manufacturers can claim that the product does not contain carbohydrates.
If the manufacturer uses a hydrolyzation process, they can also claim that the product contains zero grams of sugar! This means that many people are unknowingly consuming hidden sugars.
While dietary sugar consumption is going down, the percentage of ultra-processed food consumption is on the rise.
The good news is that there are healthy alternatives that are tasty too! Just be sure to look closely at the labels on the products you buy to avoid consuming excess sugar.
