In this follow-up episode, we'll discuss ways (if any) to enforce the code of ethics.  Things to think about:  What would you do/say to other RLSH who are behaving in a way that's harmful/destructive to others, themselves, or the public view of RLSH? What constitutes "destructive" or "harmful" behavior? Why does reporting matter? Should there be a code of ethics committee? Why or why not? If so, how would you choose the committee? What sanctions would be imposed for violating the code of ethics? Why should you care? This past weekend, for the first time, multiple branches from the Initiative Collective organized their own local Project HOPE (Homeless Outreach Project Effect) events! The fruits of this collaboration brought much-needed items such as food, clothing, water, and compassion to homeless in 8 cities nationwide and in the United Kingdom. About Ruby: Ruby Rinekso is a cosplayer, a musician, a graphic designer and a writer/director/actor in a string of comedic sci-fi based short films titled “RUBISODES.” He appeared in the film short, “The Adventures of Captain Bucky,” the off Broadway show “Space Captain: Captain of Space” and has had a featured role in two commercials for SpikeTV. He has also written, directed and appeared in several promotional video clips for Wizard World to advertise upcoming conventions. Having been making costumed appearances regularly since 2005, Ruby has made the rounds to some of the biggest Sci-Fi/Pop Culture conventions known. He first started making the convention circuit as a member of the Star Wars charity costume communities of the 501st and Rebel Legion, where he has made appearances as various STAR WARS characters. Moving beyond that, Ruby has enjoyed making a name for himself by thinking out-of-the-box, and regularly making appearances as rare characters that aren’t usually household names such as Black Manta, Solomon Grundy, or even Gleek from The Wonder Twins. He’s also been known to use unconventional means, such as stilts, to achieve the proper physical look of other characters such as The Incredible Hulk and Chewbacca. For the past 16 years, Ruby is a veteran member of the KISS tribute band, KISSNATION, playing stages nationally. He plays lead guitar, performing in the role of KISS member, “ACE FREHELY.” During that time, KISSNATION has had the honor of getting praise from original KISS founding members, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. HEROES 101 RADIO is back from summer vacation!  Real-Life Superheroes join Rock and Spectre to discuss the annual Real-Life Superhero meet-up, Project HOPE, San Diego.  Project HOPE (Homeless Outreach Program Effect) is a yearly meet-up of Real-Life Superheroes from all over the country. Each July, dressed in costume, we get together in San Diego to sort and distribute hundreds of backpacks filled with sleeping bags, essentials, food and water to those experiencing homelessness in downtown San Diego.  Members of the Real-Life Superhero community will be on board to answer questions and help you host your own Project HOPE in your town. Every year, the MissFits for Life team descends on a muddy field to take part in the Warrior Dash, and has proven to be the top fund-raising team nationally for the St Jude's Children's hospital, a ground-breaking institution offering free healthcare to kids with cancer, and working towards a long-term cure. This past weekend, the team was in North Carolina, taking a beating in order to reach an all-time total of $100,000 for St Jude's! And they're SO CLOSE! Tune in on Thursday night at 7pm Pacific / 10pm Eastern to hear about the trials and tribulations of the Warrior Dash, but more importantly, how you can help the MissFits team reach a total of $100,000 for kids with cancer, without even having to open your wallet!

As my co-host Spectre wraps up his victorious weekend of training, fundraising and participing as a member of the top-fundraising team, The MissFits 4 Life in the Warrior Dash, North Carolina, I'll be co-hosting the show with two special guests from the Real-Life Superhero community and original members/founders of the New York Initiative (as seen in the HBO documentary, Superheroes), Jack Zero and Zimmer Barnes. We consider it a good sign when our shows run over their alloted time. This week, Rock and Spectre are joined by Tabitha, a subject matter expert on the environmental crisis known as fracking, to learn about what fracking is, how it could affect us all, and what we, as everyday citizens, can do to prevent it. About this week's guest: Tabitha Tripp, a life long Illinois resident, has been a tenacious volunteer and environmental advocate for the last four years. She became engaged in the fracking issue after learning about risks to water supplies and the devastation the industry causes to rural communities.  She is a board member with the grassroots fracking organization SAFE, Southern Illinoisans Against Fracturing our Environment. She is the founder of Shawnee Sentinels, a group formed with for the distinct need of training  citizens non violent direct action and civil disobedience to protect the communities near and around the Shawnee National Forest from extraction issues. Most recently she was elected as Co-chair of Heartwood Forest Council, a 17 state organization that protects the Eastern Hardwood forest.  For fun, she is painter, poet, mom, and loves to cook. She lives in unincorporated Union County, IL with her two children and partner on a fourth generation family farm, where their only source of water is a deep well.

This week, Rock and Spectre are joined by the MissFits4Life team, a group of real-life superheroes and volunteers who raised $25,000 for charity this summer, took on and conquered the Warrior Dash in Tennessee, and delivered a very large check to some very brave kids! We're joined by professional body-builder Miss Fit, Warrior Dash captain White Scorpion and a host of other team-mates, who will be sharing tales of training, fund-raising and, most of all, the amazing kids of the St Jude's Children's Hospital.

You may think casual sexism is harmless, or that gender equality is more prevalent than inequality. But there's a dark reality behind it that you may not be aware of, involving human trafficking and involuntary prostitution, which you could find shocking in this modern society. As with any force of darkness, there is a heroic group battling against it every day. This week, Rock and Spectre are joined by Lisa Do Hofflich from a New York chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) to talk about casual sexism, the damage it does to our society, and how this manifests in dangerous situations which could affect any of us, regardless of gender.

Why should you care about Marc MacYoung?  He grew up in LA among (and has spend 40+ years dealing with) people who don't hesitate to use violence to get what they want, on a whim.  He has studied multiple styles of martial arts singe age 10, and has broken down and reworked the most street-effective elements into a system he and his equally-badass wife Dianna ("There's a reason the toilet seat is put down in our house," Marc says) teach, called Dango Jiro ("Mulligan Stew"). He was first shot at when he was 15, and since survived more than one attempt on his life - including professional contracts - some work-related, some personal.  He's worked as the director of a correctional institute, a bodyguard, a bouncer, and worked security at multiple-day events with tens of thousands of people in attendance.  He is considered a leading expert on surviving high-risk situations, and has written multiple books on the subject, used by academies, schools, police departments, and military academies world-wide. As an authority on how violence happens, he is often called upon as a professional, expert witness in both criminal and civil cases. So... we're not 100% sure we want him to have our home address.  But we ARE 500% certain we'll have a great chat with the guy, and it seems likely we can get a few good, bloody stories out of him - we get the feeling he's at least as funny as he is knowledgable and skilled.
