- 18 - Year 2020 : Week 27 : Gino
"My name is Alex Gaggino, I make art and DJ as Gino. I host a happy hour called Snack Time at TV Lounge focused on artistry, community, and deliciousness. I've been educating and mentoring youth in Detroit for 10 years. I started DJing in Ann Arbor, inspired by Movement. I was an intern for Soul Clap Records which gave me an intro to the industry. I'm thankful to work with TV Lounge and Rocksteady Disco which has a parallel to the range of music I like to mix." "Detroit is where the best music in the world is heard. Between the DJs, producers, rappers, musicians, AND visual artists it's a wicked creative force. Taste becomes refined among listeners and talent. People dance to great dance music here. Also, they are my friends, my mentors, my employers, my peers, my love, it's my job, it's my escape." On being a Detroit DJ "Do it right. Do it for the love. Do it with knowledge of the foundation.” About this mix “I started playing some ambient to accompany the glorious storm tonight and it turned into something expressive of the experience we've been through so far this year. Programmed as a narrative, the mix includes moments of being built up and let down, moments of exhausted confusion, moments of pain and anxiety, along with a single burst of determination and justice via a Peter Croce edit. It may not be my most 'fun' mix ever but it is a thoughtful one keeping in mind the weight of the events happening in our country and being true to how it affects our spirit. May it heal.” ~Gino (June 27, 2020) Gino's Links Gino's Linktree → Listen on Apple Podcasts → Listen on Google Play → Listen on Soundcloud →

“Hey y’all, I’m Alex. I was born in Texas, and I’ve moved around a lot. I make music, and run a record label/YouTube channel called RESPONSE. I’ve got two EP’s coming out very soon - one is up for pre-sale now with DJ Holographic, and the other one is solo and will be a RESPONSE release. These go live on July 10th, and end of August/early September respectively." "I love how the Detroit scene has a very “homegrown” feel and very often feels genuine. I appreciate the fact that the people of Detroit seem to have a certain toughness to them. I love the diversity of the city and how that has shaped my perspective." On being a Detroit DJ "It means a place where I’ve been able to get my feet wet in terms of DJing. The warm and welcoming scene of Detroit has been great for my growth as a musician since being able to spin informs my production process.” Track List Sleep Paralysis : Alex Wilcox HI. Tue, 30 Jun 2020 - 55min - 16 - Year 2020 : Week 25 : Gustav Brovold
Gustav Brovold was born in 1991, grew up in Royal Oak, and then in his later teens bounced between upstate New York and New Mexico. He moved back to Detroit when he was 18 and never left. He has been a fixture in Detroit’s bar and restaurant scene slinging drinks and managing. He played in Deastro with Randy Chabot, Thor Brovold, and Marty Roy. Later played in Ter(r)a with Ben Christensen. He is one of the founders of Adult Contemporary with Drew Roberts, Randy Chabot, Thor Brovold, Chad Silbert, and many others. He helped with Pure Rave along side Bryan Dulaney and Nick George. He produces with tons of synths and stuff under his own name, Gustav Brovold, as well as under the alias Radio Brovold. You can find his releases on Don’t Be Afraid out of UK, Detroit Electronic Quarterly, and Portage Garage Sounds. "We’re all nerds. Nerds who like good music and can party. We all geek out over new synthesizers, equipment and midi routing, or weird b-sides imported from Japan. The ‘nerddom’ of it all brings a purity to it. It's not watered down, everyone seems to be pure in their ventures through the scene. People very rarely do it for praise or acceptance, but rather for...selfish obsession? Geeking out? Love? I can’t find the word. The people in the scene would still continue making these jams if there never was a show in the city again." "The history is also important. The pioneers of the music are still around, and kicking just as hard as they ever were. It’s nice to see them around the city, living their life and participating in the scene. It’s inspiring and gives you the power to continue on, seeing our idols living in the same space as we are." On being a Detroit DJ "Man, haven’t really figured that out yet. It seems that it’s an amorphous thing. Changing all the time. Every set is different. Everyone you play with is different. Shows usually aren’t just 6 hours of acid or a whole night of techno, but rather a whole spectrum of genres. Nights can start with boogie and slow jams, then end on some 150bpm ghetto tech shit. Nights at Detroit parties can take you on a journey, every turn going somewhere completely unexpected. It’s nice to be a part of that. It’s a blessing to both get lost in the crowd, as well as see your self as a small part of the whole.” Gustav Brovold's Links Northwinds Sample Packs → Listen on Apple Podcasts → Listen on Google Play → Listen on Soundcloud →
Wed, 24 Jun 2020 - 1h 05min - 15 - Year 2020 : Week 24 : Ryan McCray
"I'm a music lover and creator in my core. Creating music in some capacity has defined me for most of my life. I've made house, techno, hip-hop beats, R&B beats for Bevlove, metal, etc. I find influences in many genres and I bring it all back in to see what I can come up with." Ryan was born on Detroit's Eastside, where his musical journey began with cello in elementary school. In middle school he and his friends started a rock/metal band, where he played bass. In high school he met Sean Riddell, who was a rapper and made his own beats. Ryan got a copy of Sean's software and began making beats as well. In college, he started getting into House, then Techno, and started to produce it. After college, he moved back to Detroit and linked up with Ryan Thomas (Bale Defoe). They started Choose Better Friends Records with Jessica and Phil Mnnick and have been kicking it ever since. "I'm forever in debt to many producers and DJs in Detroit that have taught me a thing or two. Detroit is a place where the hustle is real and the community tight. A wealth of talent, skills, and wisdom that people are open to share. A Detroit DJ is how I identify myself and I am proud to say that." On being a Detroit DJ "Detroit is where it all started for me and is where I grew into a DJ. Being a DJ in Detroit is a badge of honor that any DJ is and should be proud to wear. With so much history, culture, and talent, Detroit is a city that is respected within the industry. On that same note, I find it important to represent the city and show the great things that are happening here.” Ryan McCray's Links Facebook → Soundcloud → Bandcamp → Resident Advisor → Track List What It Is : Ryan McCray African Power : DASCO The Tribute : Sebb Junior Soulfood : Maxx Mortimer Tropicana : Demuir, Josh Butler Lotta Bounce : WAAJEED Memor1e5 : Adryiano Submarwhip : Ryan McCray Don't Change It Up : Pontchartrain The Future : TRP Quinn : Alex Siedel Little Talks : Carlo featuring Nikoss Boogie Nocturno : Carlo La Belle : Tom Jay Listen on Apple Podcasts → Listen on Google Play → Listen on Soundcloud →

Thu, 21 May 2020 - 58min - 13 - Year 2020 : Week 19 : Alan Bogl
“Hi! I’m Alan. When I was in grade school the youth group DJs were my babysitters, as a result I was exposed not only to great music at a young age, but also event production, which if you know me, is my true love. I produced my 1st shows with some schoolmates; punk rock shows at St. Dominick's gym when I was 16. I discovered techno on Easter break from my first year at CMU in ’92. I never went back to CMU, but instead found myself working the door at Industry in Pontiac. That's how I met Steven R. and Marke B. and started producing shows with Voom, then later with Sam Fotias under Bent Fabric. A lot of things happened...so many things...then I met Johnny Saco when we DJ'd at a Hardware party - we hit it off and started DJing together, making music, and throwing parties under the Motor City Macks moniker. We made tracks on our MPC, 808, and a Korg Triton. We played a few live shows, doing our best to piss Mike off when we would drop bass bombs! Those glory day memories always make me smile. I still love buying and playing vinyl - I pick up all kinds of different records, but have a love for 90's records in particular, and on this mix you'll hear a few of those. These days I'm partners with Mike Fotias at Audio Rescue Team where we drop proper rigs all around town, catering to the needs of Detroit and the world's best DJs. Honestly nothing gives me more pleasure than working with all the great talent the city has to offer; I'm truly blessed - thanks for listening!" "I love Detroit because of the People! Detroit is where my tribe decided to reincarnate this time around, and I think we can all agree it's turned out to be pretty special. Detroit is extraordinarily magical and full of so much creative energy it's truly mind blowing as well as soul filling. The creative energy combined with the grit and determination make for a highly catalytic environment. I've been blessed to work alongside so many talented Detroiters producing so many cool shows. I feel spoiled rotten. I'm excited to continue doing my part to add to Detroit's greatness alongside all of you.” On being a Detroit DJ “DJing in Detroit is so special because first; the people that come out usually want to boogie so you're going to have a great time in the booth, so long as you fill that bag with quality tracks. Second, this town has so many amazing DJs that it's an honor just to get on the decks...also a lot of those great, even legendary DJs will potentially be at any given show, and you want to represent, and you will...so long as you fill that bag up tight and right. All jokes aside, it's truly humbling to be a citizen of such an amazing city and to be a part of its scene.” Track List Good Lies (A Good Christian edit) : Tom Trago You : Sex-O-Sonique Soul Grabber Pt. 3 : Paul Jacobs Out of Hand : Bass Bin Twins Sorry I'm Late : KollekLIV Turmstrasse Benediction : Lxury Remix This is the United States Calling : Valley of the Big Bass & Big Bass Drum Plumpy Chunks : Plump DJs Brown Acid : Bootasaurus U Got the Hook : Pirate Breaks The Lick : 2 Inda Bush Dirty Loop Lightning : DJ Icey Untitled : Bass Bin Twins I Can Do It Faster : DJ Huda Hudia Untitled : Bass Bin Twins Don't Stop Me Know : Queen Listen on Apple Podcasts → Listen on Google Play → Listen on Soundcloud →

Bileebob creates sexy electronic music featuring vocals, soft & hard synths, handmade instruments, and life sounds. He has been involved with the Detroit and Midwest electronic music scene since the mid 90s. He has performed internationally in Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Scotland and Nova Scotia as a member of the Detroit Grand Pubahs and Underground Resistance. As a DJ, he blends a seamless mix of all genres, including techno and house, electro, new wave and rock, twisting knobs and tweaking the EQ to the crowd’s anticipant delight. Bileebob loves Detroit because “we have a great mix of heads that have been around for a very long time and new kids being introduced all the time. People come, go and often return. We see a lot of reinvention here, interpersonally and obviously as a city. We go through an ever changing rebirth that is very refreshing.” On being a Detroit DJ “Artists in this city create outside of the box. I approach DJing this way, basically no rules. Love bandit, music-deviant, late night party hero – Jerry Downey is the mind behind Sexual Tension Detroit and an enigmatic force in Detroit’s party scene. Downey cut his teeth DJing at after-hours parties in Detroit during the late ‘00’s. He regularly throws underground parties and has licensed music to household names such as Atlantic Records and Warner while artfully balancing life as an elected public official. His crucial role in the now-defunct Warehouse 1018, local residency track record, and studio efforts keep him busy with a frequent event schedule piloted by a mindful understanding of contemporary dance environments which has resulted in club appearances at nearly every major proving ground in the United States. On being a Detroit DJ “In regard to playing dance music, there’s no denying that Detroit is an international proving ground with a deep-rooted history and rich culture. As a resident, it truly is a privilege to have access to our local record shops, incredible venues, mentors, and diverse and supportive community. These elements, in conjunction, are crucial to the health of any underground dance scene and I couldn’t be more grateful for the access to opportunity and information that the city of Detroit is able to provide. Detroit’s talent pool is world-class, often playing to more informed audiences. When you step into the booth of an intimate dancefloor here, you better come correct.” Track List Feeling Love : L.E.B. Wed, 29 Apr 2020 - 1h 01min - 10 - Year 2020 : Week 16 : Stacey Hotwaxx Hale
For as long as there is music and those who faithfully dance, there will always be a need for the Godmother of House Music, DJ Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale. Detroit’s first female of house music plays dance floor bangers and orchestral melodies with live music fusions. Hotwaxx Hale has made a massive impact in the American music culture, whether it’s playing in famous theaters like the Apollo, or legendary underground dance music clubs like ‘Studio 54,’ and ‘The Warehouse.’ She also has an international presence, which includes past performances in London, Ibiza, Berlin, Amsterdam, Toronto, and across the USA. Hotwaxx Hale is the first female DJ who played house music on the radio in Detroit in the late 80s, and continues as a DJ to play a major role in curating the soundtrack of our lives for several decades. Thriving in the city that started techno, she somehow maintains a perfect flow by tastefully blending house and techno with funk, hip hop and Motown soul, which is why she continues to have a diverse, multi aged devoted following. Stacey loves Detroit “because through the many challenges this city has had, we are strong and survive. The love of music is more than anywhere else. Jazz, Techno, R&B, House, Salsa, Reggae and all of it’s derivatives we love it and will dance to it. I’ve been blessed to have seen the multitude of people here really enjoy and dance to it. As a DJ I LOVE to see people dance.” On being a Detroit DJ “Detroit love is like nowhere else. The people of all ages, colors, orientation have embraced me as I’ve embraced them. Wed, 22 Apr 2020 - 1h 09min - 9 - Year 2020 : Week 15 : Peter Croce
Peter Croce is a Detroit-based deejay, producer, and the head of the label/party Rocksteady Disco. In his short and rising career he’s been asked by Ron Trent to play alongside him and François K, and was asked to open for the legendary Grace Jones. A true personality deejay, Peter's musical mind focuses more on soul and spirit than genres and rules, putting him straight in heart of the next generation of deeply rooted American selectors and label bosses. His debut release "Revival" quickly sold out worldwide, earning organic support from Mr. Scruff, Soul Clap, Jamie 3:26, Ben Westbeech, and even Kanye West; and continues to be heard on dance floors around the world. He's also a jazz-trained bassist and prolific re-editor (usually under his Mr. PC alias), artfully tailoring classics and future gems for his dance floors. In addition to his own imprint his releases can be found on Razor-N-Tape, Soundway, On The Corner, and Kampana. When there isn't a global pandemic happening Peter maintains a busy gig schedule between residencies in Detroit and Chicago, as well as appearances in Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City, New York, London, Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., and more. “Detroit perseveres and supports one another more than any city I've ever seen. You can carve your own lane out in this city, musically or otherwise. Most people who move here want to live here, and didn't move here for just "a job". There's also a spirituality and political consciousness here that is often hard to find. The people really are the best, and I'm grateful to call it home.” On being a Detroit DJ “Being a DJ in Detroit means that you come correct-- you can't fake it here, and you gotta carve out your own niche. There's a deep DJ history here and if you're just biting others it's pretty apparent. And there's a decent chance that legendary DJs are hanging out at your parties, which raises the bar a little bit.” Track List Breaking & Entering (Jean-Claude Gavri Edit) [Coco Bin] : Dee Dee Sharp Gamble You Know Too Much [MBT] : MBT Reach'n Search (Rework) [If It Ain't Jazz] : Aroop Roy Only The Strong Survive (Magick Edit All-Stars "The Music's Getting Stronger" Edit) [Magick Edit] : Billy Paul The Gift (Joaquin Joe Claussell Edit) [Circuit T Promo] : Hassan Hakmoun & Adam Rudolph featuring Don Cherry Sunday Palaver [Rocksteady Disco] : Eddie Logix Keep Rising All Night Long (Sunday Service Mix) [GAMM] : Ukokos & Jabco Baianá (Wolf Müller's Drum Drop) [Selvadiscos] : Barbatuques Baianá (Pablo Fierro Edit) [MoBlack] : Barbatuques Catch Me [Shake] : Dirty Channels Baby Girl [Rocksteady Disco] : Eddie Logix Agape [Rocksteady Disco] : Peter Croce Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Google Play Photo : Chris Long

DJ Mean Dean (Dean Young) is actually a nice guy. 15 years in the game and he can rock any party. He is equally passionate for sound quality as well as musical programming. As General Manager of Audio Rescue Team, he is known for his extended sound checks. When a Detroit party sounds good, Dean and his cohorts from Audio Rescue Team are the ones to thank. Most recent accomplishment includes the third year of his Mean Dean Winter Welcome To Wednesday Tour. On being a Detroit DJ “Detroit is the quintessential culmination of American culture. Sports, music, history, socioeconomic inequality, we’ve got it all, and there is no shortage of DJs. The special part about being a DJ for me is the juxtaposition, putting two things together to create that 'new' third thing. Sometimes it’s a transition or a mashup, sometimes it's an energy, a feeling, a certain kind of magic. I think the indicator of a ‘good DJ’ is intentions. If your in it to share your craft, it shows. If your in it for money or fame, it shows too. Thu, 09 Apr 2020 - 58min - 7 - Year 2020 : Week 13 : Walter Glasshouse
Walter Glasshouse is a curator of underground Detroit music scene with over a decade of events produced and played. Owner of Open Eye Detroit, creative partner with Charivari Music Festival, Treasurer for The Detroit-Berlin Connection Non-Profit Organization, and content creator for Deep Space Radio. In addition to being a DJ, Producer, and Event Organizer, Walter also shares his love for Hip Hop Music as an emcee under the moniker AudioLogical. Walter also holds a Bachelors Degree in Business, and a Masters Degree in Accounting, particularly specializing in assisting artists and small businesses with navigating the tax system. “The largest reason I love this city and this scene, is the community. The PEOPLE. Sure, the music is amazing, but the hearts here are so pure. Regardless of where you go in this city, you walk in and there’s a hug being offered, a smile being shined, and a welcoming embrace that I’ve never known outside of this city. Perhaps I am a bit biased because this is my hometown, and I have been fortunate enough to create lasting relationships with many members of this community, but from my travels abroad, there’s truly no place like Detroit. Small enough to feel like a family, big enough to get lost in all the best ways… Another thing I love, is the diversity, and the acceptance… There’s every kind of person here, and we exist together. Sure, there’s different circles of people, and that’s natural… But there’s a mutual respect for the tapestry of energy that makes up the mandala of Detroit… And every single part of this community is needed to complete that circle… And deep down, I think we all get that. The soul of this city is in everything we do, especially the music, and I believe we are united by the artistic expression this region so effortlessly exudes. We are a little rough around the edges, and I absolutely love that… We don’t sugar coat, we don’t play games, but we embrace our human experience with every ounce of our existence, and to me that’s pure fucking magic. I say it all the time… I am so thankful to have woken up in this body, in this city, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.“ On being a Detroit DJ “To me, being a DJ in Detroit is sacred. It’s a place where this craft is truly a foundational element of the culture. The birth of Techno, the advancement of electronic music, and the fostering of real community through musical gatherings… All this brought me to a palpable state of humility for deciding to drop that first needle on a record many years ago. But it’s just in our blood… To me, being a DJ in Detroit means respecting the path that was blazed before me, honoring those that created the space Detroit now holds in this world, and building upon that energy with as much unique creative expression that could possibly flow through my soul. It’s a bit of a responsibility, honestly, to come as correct as you can… To do your homework, to become adept at your skillset, and to be as genuine as possible. The DJ scene here in Detroit is so beautifully saturated with unbelievable talent, that you need look no further than any dance floor to find 10 DJ’s currently better than any Top DJ blog list floating around the internet. Only thing here is, there’s a thousand more just like ‘em, at another party in Detroit… Doing what we do, appreciating the music, and supporting those who are fortunate enough to find a voice within this cacophony of beautiful noise.” Track List Tribute To A Hero : Damiano von Erckert Baby Girl : Eddie Logix No Q. DJ Venmo (Jakob Harris) has been digging his grubby hands into the pockets of Detroit’s nightlife for the last five years in an effort to pay his rent as well as fulfill his life’s purpose of owning every single private pressing ever made. “It’s enthralling to live in a city where you can really challenge other people’s ears as well as your own. Lots of bars have a sound system and some gear, so if you are really itching to wreak havoc on people it’s not hard. It’s fun finding the balance between what people are trying to hear on their night out versus whatever disjointed noise I’ve been splurging on at the time. I’ve also learned to not take it so seriously. It's all just dance parties, right? People complain that there's too many DJs but there's a reason for it. Think outside the club!“ On being a Detroit DJ “The artistic culture sprawling through so many blocks and veins really binds the city together. Tue, 24 Mar 2020 - 1h 09min - 5 - Year 2020 : Week 11 : Jaco Matthews
Born and raised an hour north of Detroit in a small country town, Jaco grew up immersed in the sounds of Motown, blues and funk. As a teenager heavily involved in DIY skate culture, he joined a band and taught himself to play bass and guitar, but was drawn to the electronic side of music. In his early twenties, he began producing solo and moved to Detroit to learn from the city’s rich musical legacy. His productions are distinctly jazzy and deep—clear nods to hometown influences Moodymann and Rick Wade—with a tribal edge, while his DJ selections range from 160+ BPM jit records to the dreamiest disco and deep house. True to his roots in the live music scene, he approaches every set with the intention of using the unfamiliar and the unexpected to lead the audience to particular emotional states. “When I first moved from a small country town to Detroit, living in a city and the club scene was entirely new to me. I didn’t know anyone but within a week, I’d met dozens of people, a number of which are now some of my closest friends. The support and camaraderie within the scene here in Detroit is truly incomparable.“ On being a Detroit DJ “Honestly at first, being a part of Detroit’s music scene can be a bit intimidating. You got Aretha, Dilla, Kenny Dixon, Jack White and countless other legendary musicians that crafted their sound in this city. So when I first moved here, it was hard not being intimidated by a list like that. But once you start getting involved with other musicians, producers and DJs in the city, you can’t help but notice this affinity between Detroit artists. Where people will praise your individuality and creative expression within your craft rather than see how you measure up to our distinguished history. So for me, being a part of Detroit’s music scene is all about keeping that feeling of having a loving, supportive and encouraging community alive.” Track List Baby : Torpedo Fred Feel like makin love : D’angelo Afterglo : Benedek Love is Real : Loods & Mallgrab Shemotions (Griessmuehle Mix) : Paradiso Rhythm Back Down : Subjoi Coming Home : A-Trak Don’t Wanna Stop : 1-800 GIRLS Frequencies (Detroit Mix) : Jaco Matthews Cubafro (Peppe Citarella World Latin Mix) : Lokkhi Terra High For Heads : Sweetestcape Whisper : Locked Club Tribal Train : Silvano Del Gado Love Is Madness (The Friends & Lovers Dub) : Pontchartrain VIP : Subjoi Respek Thang : Jaco Matthews Weak (Maurice Joshua Original Mix) : Jamie Woods Cyanide : Daniel Caesar Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Google Play

Ill Fusion (David Kloosterman) was interested in a wide range of live music genres from jazz and classical to metalcore early on. His cerebral blend of Techno, Tech House, and breaks draws people onto the dance floor and keeps them moving in a guided meditation. “Without Detroit and the dance music community here, I would very likely not be among the living. Implicitly, the scene here is designed to give partygoers a place to feel welcome and be themselves; to have others see them for who they truly are and be accepted. Love it or hate it, good & bad, this scene is honest, real, and full of love. The genuine nature of this city is what I originally fell in love with, and I have yet to be anywhere else that feels anything quite like Detroit.“ On being a Detroit DJ “Being a part of this community is the unlikely culmination of a lifetime of passion. Not for techno, specifically, but for technology, futurism, artistry, and music. To be among the history and innovation is priceless; it is an honor to be a part of something that continues to be internationally influential. I would have never predicted I would be here doing what I do, but it is beyond a perfect fit. I only hope my small part to play does justice to this great city and more so the people that inhabit it.” Track List Shine on You Crazy Diamond pt. 1 : Pink Floyd Masked Ball : Kattan Black Sea : Drexciya Unknown : Unknown Hell on Earth : KAS:ST Silver (Science Live Mix) : Hunter/Game Hold Me to the Light (Tale of Us Remix) : KAS:ST featuring Be No Rain Cyclo : Traumer The Emotion Machine : Laval Do U Like Me? : Death’s Dynamic Shroud Dybbuk : Yotam Avni Fumer Out Jouer Du Hautbois, Il Faut Choisir : Luron Premier & Pépé Elle Unknown : Unknown Devi : Paperkraft Acid Jazz : Herr Frank Let's Get it On (Nephews Edit) : Marvin Gaye Samthing Soweto : Akulaleki featuring Sha Sha, DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Google Play Photo : BABOO Photography

Dr. Poppers (Ricardo Leos) has been emerging as a DJ known for vocal infused, dance floor filling sets in Detroit’s gay clubs as well as underground parties. Rico is the consummate host having establishing himself DJing, bartending, promoting, and managing at Detroit’s legendary Grenadier Club. Next time you see Dr. Poppers on a bill, do yourself a favor and check him out. On being a Detroit DJ “Being a DJ in Detroit is a special thing. There are many talented DJs around the world, but there's a uniqueness to the artists that make up the Detroit sound. The cool part is getting to know, learn, and grow from some of those other artists. And the best part is dancing... sometimes till the sun comes up...to the variety of Electronic DJs in our scene. ” Track List Miracle : JazzyFunk My Lovin (Mat.Joe Remix) : Milk and Sugar Live Your Life (Roger Sanchez Remix) : Federico Scavo and Barbara Tucker Sure Thing! Since arriving in Detroit, TYLR_ (Tyler Yglesias) has not only become one of the defining DJs in Detroit’s modern electronic music scene, but has also been an integral part of promoting underground events that have resurrected the feeling of Detroit’s seminal parties of the nineties. His sets incorporate soulful house sounds and techno rhythms that span generations, force your body to move, and your mind to get lost in dance floor memories. On being a Detroit DJ “DJs inspire and support each other in Detroit unlike any other city I know. I have gotten so much encouragement from established DJs and in turn try to pass that same energy to other new and upcoming DJs. Everyone has something unique to contribute to our scene here and are encouraged to do so in a very supportive way.” Track List Solivagant : WhiteSquare Underverse featuring Mandel Turner : Terranova Nonsense (Daniel Meister Remix) : Pedro Costa Mars Attacks Again : Acid Klowns From Outer Space Number One : Gramophonedz Mother Acid Land : Toto Chiavetta Love Feeling : Difitaria + Denney Grey's Discourse : Doomwork Can You Feel It (Metodi Hristov Remix) : Tommyboy Turning Point (ANNA Remix) : Wehbba System : Dubman F Beat That Bitch Problem : Tim Ba Tarareando : Aki Bergen & Pezzner featuring Terry Grant Algoreal : Gary Beck The Machine : Prunk and Chris Stussy Tigerlilly : Stitxhes Lake : Kiwi El Chamal : Agus Monteverde Turn It Up (Honey Dijon Remix) : Jazzy Eyewear + Spettro Moving Together : Carlos Caballero Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Google Play Photo : BABOO Photography
Mon, 24 Feb 2020 - 1h 05min - 1 - Year 2020 : Week 07 : Deeper Waters
Danielle Biggers and Brandon Redoute are Deeper Waters. They met on a dance floor in Detroit and according to them they never left. They love the spirit of the underground as well as the community that keeps it alive year after year. They came to Detroit to help advance a purely Detroit agenda. The scene here has allowed them to find like-minded individuals, some who have been lifting up the community for years. “You won’t find a better backroom, hot-box, underground party than in Detroit. If you look even deeper, you won’t find a more diverse, supportive, group of people who are eager to lift each other up and are so fiercely protective of their community and city.” On being Detroit DJs “As a DJ, when you find your “sound” or your genre, you become a little obsessed but in a good way. You just want to know everything about it. It’s kind of like love in that sense. You spend so much time surrounding yourself with that style of music. You trace it back to where it all came from, and at the heart of techno is Detroit. So, being able to call ourselves “Detroit DJs” is an honor that we are grateful to have everyday.” Track List This Ain’t Freedom (Yolanda Be Cool Remix) : Roland Clark, Liife Give Me Luv (Nicole Moudeber Remix) : Alcatraz Same Man : Franky Rizardo Conjure Balearia : Maceo Plex Breaking News : Metodi Hristov I’ll Provide : Moodyman Misbehave : Eli Brown Broken City : Shelley Johansson Extasia : Several Definitions Bodythang : DJ Le Roi Move Out Of My Way : Dennis Quin and Sherman Set U Free (Deeper Waters Remix) : Planet Soul So Many Promises (Bantan Remix) : Louis Proud Freakin’ : Marc Romboy Grace : Après Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Google Play Photo : BABOO Photography
