- 299 - Episode 286: Myles Anderson v. Tony Robbins
Myles Anderson (comedian) returns to the show after a 5-year layoff (our fault) to show us what happens when you talk about Tony Robbins on your YouTube channel that analyzes stand-up comedians. Hint: it's not good! We get into a lot of knife talk on the pod, as Myles gets stopped by airport security and we remember some our fondest memories with knives. We also discuss some of our favorite early Flash games, Leisure Suit Larry, BMX XXX, Dan introduces us to Stroker for the Commodore 64, and we check in on the new menu at our ol' top Wisconsin haunt, Every Buddy's Bar and Grill. Plus, Myles fights with a Norwegian, the Edmonton Oilers release a heinous playoff rap, and IMC loves what Grok AI has to offer him with regards to the Drake/Kendrick beef. If you don't want to have a beef with us, support the show by heading on over to our Patreon at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Actor Party triumphantly returns, as Mark Chavez runs the Blocked Boys through a Harold Pinter script, complete with British accents. That goes as well as you think. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and more, so check it out! Myles Anderson is a comedian whose new special, Myles Per Hour, is out this week through 800 Pound Gorilla Records. You can also watch his breakdowns of stand-up comedy specials at the Bachelors of Music YouTube page, and you can find his tour dates and other stuff by following him on Instagram at @myles.banderson. Mon, 13 May 2024 - 298 - Broomgate: A Curling Scandal, Episode 1: The Mystery Broom
It's a feed drop! John here. As you may (or may not) know, over the past two years, I have been working on a curling podcast about our sport's biggest ever scandal, Broomgate. (Yes, it's actually called that). It's a cool story filled with niche sports drama, amazing personalities, and narration/writing/producing by me. And as I write this, it is the #1 podcast in Canada. Actually. We have never posted an episode of anything else in the BP feed, and I respect that this may be a bit weird for some of you, but I just really wanted you to hear this series. I hope you enjoy it. This is the only episode we'll be doing this with, so don't fear that the BP feed will be overrun with curling content. The feed goes back to normal next Monday and will stay that way. If you like the episode, please head on over to the Broomgate: A Curling Scandal feed and follow/subscribe. Episode 2 is already out, and then it'll be a new episode every Monday until the conclusion of the podcast's sixth episode. You can get there by clicking here: https://link.chtbl.com/6rO6FUAd. Wed, 08 May 2024 - 297 - Episode 285: Mike Rugnetta v. Trump Merch
Mike Rugnetta (podcaster) joins the show for the first time to tell us about the weirdly specific subset of products that his Twitter feed is currently being dominated by: Donald Trump merch. We go over the entire insane product line, and update Mike on the dumb Twitter ads we are getting up here in Canada. It's a big week over on Bluesky, as they've added gifs, and we discuss Taco Bell, the Filet O'Fish, Long John Silver's, the Scorpion Bar at Foxboro Stadium, and we listen in to what DJ Jon Gosselin has been laying down lately. Plus, Mike's TikTok algorithm is overrun by the Chinese Industrial Complex, Rod Black gets a heartwarming baseball moment with his son, and we check in on our good friend Tito Ortiz. If you want to provide us with some heartwarming feelings, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Pat Gill joined us to break down Canada's insane 90s video gaming show, Video and Arcade Top 10, and it was a true delight. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and over 150 episodes in the back catalogue, so don't miss out! Mike Rugnetta is a podcaster whose latest podcast, Never Post, is available now wherever you get your pods. You can follow him on Twitter at @mikerugnetta. Mon, 06 May 2024 - 296 - Episode 284: Maddy Kelly v. Stand-Up Haters
Maddy Kelly (comedian/writer) returns to the show to discuss her newest hobby: finding people who reply weirdly or negatively to women who do stand-up online, and telling them to f off. It's working well, and she's getting blocked. It's a snack-heavy episode as Maddy has moved back to LA and pines for the days of Canadian junk food. We also discuss In-n-Out, potato chip rotations, burger tourism, and first dates. Plus, Maddy is only logging onto Instagram from her desktop, Stefan hits us with a Naomi Wolf update, and Drew Carey lands on a different astral plane at the Phish concert at the Sphere. If you want to hit a different astral plane, may we suggest listening to Blocked Party bonus content? Over at patreon.com/blockedparty, $5/month gets you THREE bonus episodes every damn month. Dropping TODAY is our latest Canadian Education Programme episode, as Mr. Pizza Suplex himself, Pat Gill, joins us to discuss a Canadian institution: Video and Arcade Top 10. We also have a new Cameo episode up with Gianmarco Soresi, ad-free episodes, an exclusive Discord, and MORE! Maddy Kelly is a comedian whose latest podcast, "Let's Make a Horror" is out now wherever you get your pods. You can follow her on Instagram (on her desktop) at @itsmaddykelly. Mon, 29 Apr 2024 - 295 - Episode 283: Erin Wood v. Mr. Clean
Erin Wood (comedian) joins the show to tell us about getting banned from the Facebook group of Mr. Clean...for telling "him" about a dream she had? Involving him? Shirtless? It's a good time. And so is the episode, as we discuss our word games habit, John doing the new lamest thing he's ever done, our teenage party experiences, cartoons, and Erin takes umbrage with something Stefan and John enjoy. Plus, Erin deleted all her social media, Stefan shows us some rejected vanity license plates, and John introduces Stefan and Erin to scenic pisses. If you don't want to piss us off, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you THREE bonus episodes every month! Last week, Gianmarco Soresi rejoined the show to watch some horrible Cameos with us, and we discovered our new favorite guy on Cameo: UFC fighter Nick Diaz. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and more, so check it out! Erin Wood is a comedian who does not have social media, but if you live in Calgary, you can go to her weekly open mic Ratboy (it's great! Maybe you'll see John!), which is at Vern's Pub every Wednesday at 8:30 pm. This show is also available in video format on our YouTube. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mon, 22 Apr 2024 - 294 - Episode 282: Adam Christie v. Becca
Adam Christie (comedian) returns to the show for his first main episode in over 4 years! Part of the reason he hadn't returned to the show is because no one had blocked him. But then Becca volunteers...and hilarity ensues. Hilarity also ensues the entire episode as Stefan shows us an insane picture (what else is new?), Adam attends an eclipse party, Mr. Beast has a new chocolate bar, and we go long on micropenises. Plus, Keith Lee visits Toronto, a Zoom presentation goes wildly wrong, and Elon Musk goes to court, though he isn't exactly sure who sued him. If you want to avoid being sued by us, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Bobby Warrener joined the show for a delightful mailbag episode, and this week, it's the return of "Word Up!", our Cameo-based bonus series we have now returned to doing bi-monthly, where we find the absolute worst in celebrity shout-outs. We also have ad-free episodes if you hate the damn ads, a massive back catalogue, a Discord, and more! Adam Christie is a comedian who will be on tour with Randy Feltface this fall, and has lots of fun dates coming up before that as well. You can find out everything you need to know on his Instagram at @adamchristiecomedian. This episode is also available in video format on our YouTube. Learn more about your ad choices. Mon, 15 Apr 2024 - 293 - Episode 281: Donovan Eyre v. John McAfee
Yes, that John McAfee. Donovan Eyre (Radio-Free Tote Bag) joins the show to tell us about weirdly getting the late John McAfee on their podcast (before he died, obv), getting the follow, and then getting unfollowed after his passing. It's a strange sequence of events, and we break it all down here. We also break down CBD seltzers, the A&W Burger Family, Hawkins Cheezies, and Stefan and John make a horrible pitch: Canada Juice II. Plus, Dono's algorithm is full of dead fish, the Cybertruck gets compared to a prom dress (?) in a very strange tweet, and we find out just how stupid parents are over on r/teachers. If you want to support this show's own r/teacher, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you THREE bonus episodes every single month! We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and I guess we might do Canada Juice II? Who knows. Donovan Eyre is a podcaster whose show, Radio-Free Tote Bag, is available wherever you get your pods. You can follow them on Instagram at @rftb.dono. Mon, 08 Apr 2024 - 292 - Episode 280: Will Sennett & Helena v. Matt Rife
It's another classic pairs episode on Blocked Party, as we just couldn't resist having the two hosts of the new hit podcast 197424 on, Will Sennett and Helena! Helena catches a block from America's favorite comedian, and we dive into his truly cringeworthy Twitter page in this memorable episode. Off the top, we immediately discuss their strange new podcast name and then Stefan pesters the two of them with more parody songs (which costs John and the show more money). We also chat about a confusing Long Island Iced Tea that Helena drank at the movies, John seeing some baffling anti-mayor signs, and we learn Dan has every Amiibo ever made. Plus, pretend psychologists on Instagram, alpha male camps, Dragon's Dogma II, and Ilia Malinin lands a quadruple axel. If you want to feel as good as a figure skater landing the hardest jump known to man, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Raptors and Jays analyst Blake Murphy joined us to discuss his career as a sports journalist and working your way into a difficult profession, and it was a real blast. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and exclusive Discord, and much more! Together, Will and Helena host the 197424 podcast, which is available wherever you get your pods. Will is also a standup comedian, and you can find his dates and everything else on his Instagram at @will_sennett. Helena is on Instagram as well, at @bugsizechihuahua. Mon, 01 Apr 2024 - 291 - Episode 279: Becca v. A Broken Man
Becca rejoins the show for the first time since we moved to Calgary, and tells us about some very strange DMs she got about her ex that were connected to a profile that had some very weird posts about her ex. It no longer exists, but is one of the weirder blocks we've ever seen on the show. The episode gets weird too, as we reminisce on our old apartment and talk toilet seats, new video games, cycling in the snow, and chess. In the social media updates, Becca brings back a very popular segment in the show's history: unearthing old social media posts of John's for the listener's enjoyment (and his embarrassment). This time, she goes to Facebook, and there are some doozies. And finally, Stefan finds a weird Bandy video and John watches a guy sprain his ankle. You know what's better than spraining your ankle? Becoming a donor to the show! For just $5/month, you'll get access to THREE bonus episodes every month over at patreon.com/blockedparty. Last week, Lance St. Laurent returned to discuss the Avro Arrow, and this week, our friend and sports analyst Blake Murphy joins us for a Heck/Cullen episode where we get the lowdown on how to get into covering sports professionally. We also have tiers with ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and a whole lot more! So check it out! Becca's art can be viewed on Instagram at @coldhandshake. Mon, 25 Mar 2024 - 290 - Episode 278: Austin Lonneberg v. A Redditor
Austin Lonneberg (comedian) joins the show for the first time to tell us about a time he had to block a Redditor after the Reddit guy made fun of Austin's comedy and then when Austin went to check out his profile, he revealed...well, he took us to a very interesting sub-Reddit. We learned a lot. And that's not the only thing we learned a lot about on this episode, as Austin tells us about going to the gym late at night and this somehow leads to us diving WAY too deep into Steven Seagal's history, from his legendarily bad SNL performance to his horrendous recent movies. It's a wild rabbithole. Plus, Austin gets fooled on TikTok into watching Andrew Tate clips, Stefan checks in on Darren Rovell, and John sparks some funny text messages after Drake goes viral for a strange DM slide. If you want to slide into our DMs (sort of), you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Jacob Samuel joined us for one of the truly stupidest mailbags of all-time, where we spend 20 minutes answering a question in the dumbest way possible. This week, it's the return of the Canadian Education Programme as Lance St. Laurent returns to watch a beloved Canadian miniseries with us. We also have ad-free episodes and a whole lot more, so check it out! Austin Lonneberg is a comedian and you can follow him on social media for clips and tour dates at @austinlonneberg. This episode is also available in video format on our YouTube. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mon, 18 Mar 2024 - 289 - Episode 277: Luke Taylor v. Mr. Peanut
Luke Taylor (comedian) joins the show for the first time to give us his first-hand experience of what it feels like to be the main character of Twitter for a day, after his run-ins with Mr. Peanut online turn into a Vice article, some attention from Bhad Bhabie, and a whole lot of people angry at him. But we could never stay mad at Luke, as he tries his best to be a great guest despite not receiving the John email. And he succeeds, as we discuss English accents, inflatable Michael Jacksons, the "Blanket" incident, and Balloon Boy. Plus, Luke lets us know that the best social media right now is Facebook Stories, Elon Musk writes a tweet about "Woke Jeopardy!" that's as good as you think it is, and Joey reviews the new KFC Chizza. If you want something that'll certainly go down a lot easier than a Chizza, how about the entire Blocked Party bonus episode back catalogue? It totals over 150 episodes, and you get access to it immediately if you support the Blocked Boys at patreon.com/blockedparty. Just $5/month for that AND three new bonus episodes every damn month. Plus, we have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and lots of other fun stuff. So support the show and your podcasting habit today! Luke Taylor is a Twitch streamer who you can find on Twitch most days at twitch.tv/thelukeman. You can also follow Luke on Instagram at @lukewithoutlimits. Mon, 11 Mar 2024 - 288 - Episode 276: Lane Moore v. Facebook Marketplace
We are back to our regularly scheduled program after Freaky February, and who better to join us than Lane Moore (author, podcaster) to discuss how she is at odds with--but also in love with--Facebook's online marketplace. There's no contention on the rest of the episode though, as we discuss podcast theme songs, the downfall of Twitter and now TikTok, Stefan's new gaming laptop, and how almost every online parody song is about COVID. Plus, girlbossing your way through mental health, Trapt gets denied by a venue, and Stefan walks us through the terrifying "Willy Wonka Experience". If you want to live in a world of pure imagination, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty and donate to our show! $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, it was the amazing conclusion of our BPD&D Season 3 with Jesse and db from YKS, and this week, Jacob Samuel returns to the show for an in-person mailbag. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and much more, so check it out today! Lane Moore is a podcaster and author whose latest book, "You're Not the Only One F*cking Up" is available now. Mon, 04 Mar 2024 - 287 - Episode 275: John and Stefan's Fast Track
It's the final episode of Freaky February and it's time to take the ultimate challenge: an episode of Howell Dawdy's Fast Track, where we have to write a song in 30 minutes or less. Now, we aren't the musical genius that Howell is, so we decided to write a parody song instead of an actual, "we play the instruments" song, but look...we aren't very good at that either. After canvassing people to find out what the most annoying song at karaoke is, we settled on a parody of "Sweet Caroline", a song we both hate, and of course...we make it about needing to poop really bad. If you have an urge to do something else, why not head on over to our Patreon and support the Blocked Boys doing what they love? It's just $5/month at patreon.com/blockedparty for THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Ivan Decker joined us for the triumphant return of "Word Up!", our Cameo-themed bonus episodes, and this week, it's the thrilling conclusion of Blocked Party D&D: Season 3, with our good friends Mike and Jesse from Your Kickstarter Sucks. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and more, so check it out! Howell Dawdy's Fast Track is available wherever you get your pods. You can follow him on Twitter at @howelldawdy and you can donate to his Patreon at patreon.com/howelldawdy. This episode is also available in video format on our YouTube. Mon, 26 Feb 2024 - 286 - Episode 274: Dudes w/ Tony Boswell
It's Freaky February and we continue on with an episode of "Dudes", a send-off on our good friend Bryan's podcast "Guys", which is about, well, guys. This week, we have Tony Boswell (Minion Death Cult) joining us to discuss a Dude near and dear to our hearts: the Nu-Metal Dude. We dig into the weird politics around the nu-metal sub-reddit and find a treasure trove of great Ticketmaster reviews of some of your favorite nu-metal bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, and Slipknot. Most of the reviews are about parking at the venue. Dudes, as they say, rock. If you wanna rock, you can help support the show by heading over to patreon.com/blockedparty and donating $5/month to help the Blocked Boys. For that $5, you'll also get THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Raft joined us for a mailbag episode, and this week, our famous "Word Up!" bonus episode returns, as we dig into the horrible, terrible, no good world of Cameo [dot] com. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, an exclusive Discord, and more, so check it out! Tony Boswell is one of the hosts of Minion Death Cult, which is available wherever you get your pods. You can follow him on Instagram at @wordisbondtv. "Guys" is a podcast hosted every week by Murder Bryan and Chris James, and is also available wherever you get your pods. You can donate to their Patreon at patreon.com/murderxbryan. This episode is also available in video format on our YouTube. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mon, 19 Feb 2024 - 285 - Episode 273: Stop Blockcasting Yourself
Freaky February continues as we do an episode of one of our very favourite podcasts, and in fact, the first podcast John ever listened to, Stop Podcasting Yourself! We are very pleased to be joined by one of SPY's own hosts, Dave Shumka, as we discuss "Mean Girls: The Musical", the time that Yahoo! hired Snow (yes, the Canadian white rapper Snow) to do its hold music, and John working out too hard and being unable to move for a week. Plus, we dive into your Overheards and Overseens and don't worry, when BP does SPY...it IS that kind of show. If you want more of this kind of show, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month! This week, Raft rejoins the show for our first-ever mailbag with them, and it was, predictably, a real delight. Plus, we couldn't just let Sweeps Month go by without doing something special, so next week, our Cameo series, "Word Up!" makes its triumphant return to the bonus feed. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and much more, so head on over there and support the show today! Dave Shumka is one of the two hosts of Stop Podcasting Yourself, which is available wherever you get your podcasts. You can also hear his work as a producer as part of the "Let's Make A..." series and "This Sounds Serious". You can follow him on Twitter at @daveshumka. Mon, 12 Feb 2024 - 284 - Episode 272: Your Kickstarter's Blocked
It's Freaky February! For the first time ever, Blocked Party is celebrating its Sweeps Month by doing episodes of our favourite podcasts. First on the docket: Your Kickstarter Sucks. We've got all your favourite YKS segments in here from voicemails to an update on a previous Kickstarter to the famous SIX-PACK. Stefan and John break down the worst of the worst on Kickstarter, from a Christian television network/streaming service that managed $25 towards its $5.3m goal to a handheld vacuum that absolutely looks like a vibrator. That's right, we're still doing these. If you wanna do even more Blocked Party, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every month. This month, it's the thrilling conclusion of BPD&D3 with YKS' very own Mike and JF, and we have a few more fun things planned with beloved guests for the rest of Sweeps Month. You won't wanna miss it! Plus there's ad-free episodes, a Discord, merch discounts, and lots more. Get on over there! Your Kickstarter Sucks is a weekly podcast about bad kickstarters and you can follow them over at twitter.com/yourkickstarter. You can donate to their Patreon at patreon.com/yourkickstartersucks. Mon, 05 Feb 2024 - 283 - Episode 271: Amy Walsh v. Her Co-Worker's Boyfriend's Brother's Girlfriend
Amy Walsh (comedian) joins us for the first time with one of the more tangential Blocks in the show's history, as she lied on a job application about taking a holiday and really, really didn't want her boss to find out. Thankfully she's less secretive on the show as John gets some advice about his upcoming trip to her homeland of Ireland and we discuss Kevin Hart's NFT TV show (yes, that's real), poor eyesight, and we revisit the sexual rules of the pandemic including the infamous Government of BC notice that encouraged the use of gloryholes. Plus, Amy goes viral for a simple (but funny) TikTok, a Nets reporter gets into a cartoon-sounding car crash during a post-game Twitter Space, and a very bizarre quote tweet leads to a little guessing game. Luckily, you don't have to guess at the best way to support this show: it's our Patreon! Over at patreon.com/blockedparty, $5/month will get you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, our latest D&D episode with Jesse and db from YKS went up, and it was the usual chaotic good time. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, an exclusive Discord, and the new $100 Club perks were just announced for this year, so join today! Amy Walsh is a comedian who is 1/3 of the podcast Soft for Us, which you can find wherever you get your pods. She also hosts a monthly dog-friendly comedy show in Vancouver, which you can find info about on Instagram at @bigdogenergycomedy. You can also follow Amy while you're there at @amywalshcomedy. Mon, 29 Jan 2024 - 282 - Episode 270: HCJustin v. The Sims Online
HCJustin (Twitch streamer) joins the show for the first time to tell us about being a beta tester for the Sims Online as a teenager....and immediately getting banned from the game. We also relive our teenage days with some deep talk about Spencer's Gifts (there's still over 600 locations!), Justin explains his insane sub-a-thons, and we chat about birth certificates, taxes, and while explaining "normal mode" on Go Off Kings, we learn what the most common sound alerts are on Twitch. Guess what? They all suck! Plus, Justin introduces us to TikTok's "Mine Lady", Peep This Out starts a Rumble account, and John goes viral with his tweet about Emma Stone and Jeopardy!. And for $5/month, you also get THREE bonus episodes every month! Mon, 22 Jan 2024 - 281 - Episode 269: Beth McColl v. Joyce Carol Oates
Beth McColl (writer) returns to the program to discuss how she got blocked by one of Twitter's renowned weirdos, author Joyce Carol Oates, but for not really doing anything weird or offensive. She just faved a partly disparaging tweet reply! That's it! Sad that she has to miss out on disgusting keyboards and deranged foot pics, but here we are. After John messes up the intro, we get into a great episode as we discuss Jackson Galaxy, Cat Bin Lady, John's upcoming trip to London, we finally introduce the $100 Club perks for 2024, and Beth tells us about being THAT girl at a wedding. Plus, Beth falls in love with the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid and the recent incident there, Stefan gets us deep into some bog talk, and we discuss Jo Koy throwing his writers under the bus at the Golden Globes. If you want to pull us out from under the bus, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Robin Hatch joined us for a Blocked Bag episode, and this week, BPD&D Episode 4 comes out, with our good friends from YKS. Mon, 15 Jan 2024 - 280 - Episode 268: Katie Burrell v. Two Ski Brands
Katie Burrell (comedian/actor) joins the show for the first time for a double dip of Block Tales, as she sets out to make a video for two ski brands and neither of them like it. Don't worry, it's 100% the brands' fault, and Katie gets into it here as she teaches us a lot about skiing on this one. We discuss Katie's history with stand-up comedy and skiing and how that led her into becoming the world's foremost "Leisure Athlete", awkward high school reading aloud experiences, the worst things we've eaten, and bombing down black diamonds. Plus, Katie describes trying to promote her debut feature film, Stefan plays us a clip from Reacher, and John runs into a heartwarming "Old Twitter"-style moment over on his timeline. If you want some more heartwarming moments, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Robin Hatch returns to the show for a mailbag episode, and of course, our D&D series with Jesse and db continues apace with our fourth episode in the coming weeks. Mon, 08 Jan 2024 - 279 - Episode 267: The 2024 Blocked Party Enemies List
It's our first-ever New Year's Day episode, and we are celebrating the dawn of 2024 the right way: by declaring the people and things we will direct the most negative energy towards for the next 366 days (leap year!). But first, we discuss our respective Christmases including Stefan's Lethal Company marathon, John's trip to Ontario and big gift from Becca, and Dan discovering that since his recent sobriety, he has lost his tolerance for marijuana. Plus, we discuss Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Fanatics, Bryan's Christmas Lego run, and the Go Off Kings gift one listener a new toilet. Mon, 01 Jan 2024 - 278 - Episode 266: K.C. Novak v. Her Therapist
It's Christmas! Our first-ever on-Christmas episode brings a return from favorite guest K.C. Novak, who is buoyed by Racquel Belmonte's recent Block Tale about being blocked by a therapist to discuss how K.C. was blocked by her therapist as well. It was time. It's a Cincinnati Christmas on this episode as K.C. tells us all about the traditions of her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, as she heads back there for Christmas, and we get into the chili, the ice cream, and the goetta (?) of it all. We also talk egg bags, holiday plans, and hockey. Plus, K.C. DMs the host of a Vanderpump Rules podcast, people get very weird about outdoor cats, and we look back on a year of horrendous Elon Musk jokes. If you want to access over five years of great jokes, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to our entire back catalogue of over 100 bonus episodes! If you're a shark like K.C. and you just need to keep swimming, we've got you covered. And if that's not enough, we release 3 new ones every month! We're crazy! Last week, Joe Kwaczala rejoined the show to discuss Michael Bublé's "Christmas" album, and next week, it's the third instalment of BPD&D3 with Jesse and db from Your Kickstarter Sucks. Wow! We also have ad-free episodes, an awesome Discord, and a bunch more stuff. It makes a great Christmas gift! K.C. Novak is a comedian whose debut album, "Burger, She Wrote" is out NOW wherever you get your albums. You can follow her on Instagram at @k.c.novak. Mon, 25 Dec 2023 - 277 - Episode 265: Libby Watson v. A Donut
Lucky us! When a guest had to cancel 20 minutes before recording due to a sudden illness, we couldn't have asked for a better last-minute replacement, as our good friend and one of our faves Libby Watson (writer/streamer) stepped up and answered the call. And what a call it is, as Libby regales us of the time some power-hungry loser at TwitchCon tried to prevent her from eating a donut 3 minutes early. We also talk about knife sharpening, farmer's markets, and onion goggles, before going heavy on Christmas talk as we discuss our favourite ornaments, Christmas memories, and Christmas carols. Plus, Libby finds a harrowing Christmas Yoda at Home Depot, Yoda plays Lethal Company, and Twitter got a new main character this week and he absolutely rocks. If you want more stuff that absolutely rocks, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month will make a great Christmas/Hanukkah gift and will get you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month! Last week, Rory Uphold returned to the show to review the Season 2 finale of "...And Just Like That" with us, and this week, Joe Kwaczala returns for a Canadian Education episode about Michael Bublé's Christmas album. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and a ton more, so head on over and check the damn thing out! Mon, 18 Dec 2023 - 276 - Episode 264: Dead Blossom Jesse v. A Stranger
Dead Blossom Jesse (Twitch streamer) joins the show for the first time to promise us that they don't generally engage with strangers online, but they couldn't resist in this one instance (just the one) and go WAY down the rabbit-hole of convincing this stranger that they have a medical condition and he shouldn't be trifling with DBJ. We do a lot of trifling with DBJ on this episode though, as we ponder what would happen if John died, lancing boils, smashing pennies, smoking an entire pack of cigarettes at once, which Shakespeare characters we would be, and we try to find a new impression for Stefan. Plus, DBJ is getting really into GameDev Twitter, Elon and IMC lie about their enjoyment of the Grand Theft Auto series, and John finds a POD Kast comment on Reddit underneath a headline you would never imagine devolving into POD Kast discussion. If you want something to impress all your pals on Reddit with, you can donate to our damn show! Help support the Blocked Boys and get THREE new bonus episodes every single month over at patreon.com/blockedparty. Last week, we continued our D&D series with Jesse and db from Your Kickstarter Sucks and this week, Rory Uphold returns after her legendary first appearance on the show to help us wrap up our Season 2 review of "...And Just Like That", as we watch the season finale. You also get access to our entire back catalogue of over 100 episodes, you get merch discounts, you get access to our Discord, and you can get ad-free episodes. Plus! The BP Lotto makes its first-ever appearance in one week's time on December 17th, as one BP $100 Club member will win their subscription for free! So don't miss out! Mon, 11 Dec 2023 - 275 - Episode 263: Racquel Belmonte v. Her Therapist
Racquel Belmonte (comedian) is back for her first regular episode in nearly 1.5 years, and it's no time too soon as we learn the story of how she finds a therapist after being diagnosed with ADHD, and things don't really work out. As you might remember, the last time Racquel was on the podcast, she was single, and now...she is married! We run through her whirlwind courtship, engagement, and recent small wedding to an old friend who is now her husband! It's a wonderful tale with lots of laughs. And speaking of weddings, this is the first recording since Stefan got back from Tom and Demi's wedding in Australia, so we get the low-down on their wild ceremony, seeing koalas, Hungry Jack's, and we learn the wild backstory behind the whole "a dingo ate my baby!" thing. If you want plenty more backstories, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty and support the show! A donation of $5/month gets you THREE brand-new bonus episodes every month AND access to our entire back catalogue of over 100 episodes. It's a great deal! Mon, 04 Dec 2023 - 274 - Episode 262: Michael Balazo v. Graham Linehan
Michael Balazo (comedian, Evil Men) returns to the show for a block that may not be surprising in nature given the person in question, but it might be surprising that Michael displays a great amount of valiance and support for a loved one after Graham and his followers chase after her in a weird way online. This episode displays a great amount of valiance as well, as we discuss fighting each other, Grey Cup halftime shows, betting on Green Day, shaving in public, weird hockey teammates, and Stefan prepares to fly to Australia. Plus, Michael has a tweet go viral that gets us talking Benny Hill, Stefan deletes his Twitter account, and John sees a Twitter joke that is so rooted in Twitter's old days that it gets us nostalgic. If you want to get nostalgic for the early days of this podcast, supporting the show over at patreon.com/blockedparty for $5/month will get you access to our ENTIRE back catalogue of bonus episodes! That's over 100! Wowee! Plus, we're still releasing three new ones every damn month! Mon, 27 Nov 2023 - 273 - Episode 261: Gavin Matts v. O.J. Simpson
Gavin Matts (comedian) returns to the show and catches a block that realistically we should all aspire to catch: he gets blocked by O.J. Simpson. You remember, the football player who also did some other stuff. It was a COVID-era block but Gavin doesn't catch it for a reason you'd think, but rather for a well-timed joke. And there are lots of well-timed jokes on this episode as discussion of bodegas leads us down a strange rabbit hole into the world of pitbull breeding and the very strange posters that accompany said breeding. We also chat about the YouTube comments on Gavin's new special, speaking Italian, and we revisit the classic "dog condoms" bit. Plus, we learn a lot about the Pixel Fold: Hip Hop 50th Anniversary Edition, Ludacris' stage name, and Stefan shows us a dog that poops on a window, because of course he does. If you want more of Stefan's hilarious hijinks, head on over to our Patreon page and donate to the show! Support your favorite fellas! $5/month at patreon.com/blockedparty gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every month. Last week, Adam Christie joined us for a Cullen the Herd episode where John talks about a Curling Twitter block, and this week, Charlie Demers returns to the show for a delightful mailbag. We also have ad-free episodes, access to our Discord, merch discounts, and more, so get on over there! Gavin Matts' new special is called "Progression" and it's out on YouTube now. Mon, 20 Nov 2023 - 272 - Episode 260: Alistair Ogden v. A Neighborhood Sign Guy
Alistair Ogden (comedian) returns to the show to take us on a journey into the psyche of one man, who posts numerous signs around his neighborhood looking for engagement from locals, from offering manicures and pedicures with no studio to needing help with Microsoft Excel. We learn probably more than we would want to, but it's fascinating. Also on the episode we are fascinated by Alistair going viral for pissing off small town Alberta, the Nerds candy universe (Rope/Dweebs/Punkies), old-school Halloween candies, and talk of beans leads to discussing our favorite Mr. Bean memories. Plus, Alistair introduces us to his TikTok comments section, Bob Hoskins talks about playing Super Mario, and the Bored Apes people blind a bunch of their fans. If you want to be blinded by the sheer amount of bonus content we have available, then head over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, fan fave Adam Christie joins the show for a Cullen the Herd episode, and later this month, BPD&D 3 with db and Jesse continues onward. Mon, 13 Nov 2023 - 271 - Episode 259: Brittany Lyseng v. Producer Dan
Brittany Lyseng (comedian) joins the show for the first time and it's the first in-studio guest in John's new home studio in Calgary. Unfortunately, Brittany is too nice online and so she is forced to do the one thing she never dreamed of doing: blocking Producer Dan. This is a Producer Dan-heavy episode as we spend a lot of time discussing his newfound fascination with pinball and that leads into talk of Godzilla, poetry, luxury kombucha, Halloween, and firecrackers. Plus, Brittany learns a lot about hobby horses, Stefan introduces us to the town of Skidmore, and we get a good reminder from our local elementary school teachers for Halloween. If you want to hear from some real characters, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, as just last week, Episode 1 of the third season of BPD&D dropped, and our guests this time around: Jesse and Mike from Your Kickstarter Sucks. It's a very stupid show, as you can imagine, but it's also a lot of fun. We also have ad-free episodes if you hate those damn ads, merch discounts, an exclusive Discord, and more! Mon, 06 Nov 2023 - 270 - Episode 258: Connor Ratliff v. John Heilemann
Connor Ratliff (Dead Eyes) joins the show and it's a classic, as Connor runs us through a multi-year bit that culminated in a satire Twitter account he ran getting blocked by the well-known author of "Game Change", John Heilemann. We try to get to the bottom of that as we discuss what got people upset about Dead Eyes, weird new candies, and talk of the George Lucas Talk Show takes us down a deep Star Wars rabbit hole as John reveals that Limp Bizkit got to see the premiere of Phantom Menace at Skywalker Ranch and somehow this also leads Stefan to reveal (again) that he ate dry cat food as a child. Plus, Connor starts making online comics to cope with the general state of online, Stefan goes to TwitchCon in Vegas, and Ice-T drops some more wonderful knowledge on Twitter. If you want more wonderful knowledge for your own beautiful brain, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. Mon, 30 Oct 2023 - 269 - Episode 257: Rory Uphold v. The New Girl
Rory Uphold (Crimes of the Heart) joins the show for one of the most tangled Block Tales of all-time, as an ex of hers cheats on her and then repeats the pattern, forcing a cadre of women to team up against him....until the new girl steps in. It's one of the best Block Tales in the show's history and the episode is wonderful too, as we discuss 5G zombies, last-minute episode recordings, and discussions of Rory's Calgary family members leads to a long discussion about the Canadian Football League including some amazing vintage merch and that cursed version of the Canadian national anthem. Plus, we learn about the dancing chickens, penis injury headlines, and divorce. If you never wanna divorce us, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Mon, 23 Oct 2023 - 268 - Episode 256: Kiki Andersen v. Twitter
Kiki Andersen (comedian) joins the show to tell us about catching the ultimate block: a permanent ban from Twitter for doing a single-word quote tweet. Now, was that single word a weapon that perhaps insinuated what Kiki wanted to happen to the person in question? You'll have to listen to find out! Obviously, right off the top of the show Stefan introduces Kiki to, well, Kiki, and then we discuss monitor lizards, new phones, the time John's dad played with his band, post-sex moves, and the new Coca-Cola flavors. Plus, Kiki is getting a lot of huge AI boobs on her algo, Stefan gives us an update on the Speaker of the House situation, and Spencer Strider has a weird suggestion for what he'd change about baseball. Sequoia Holmes (Black People Love Paramore) joins the show for the first time to tell us that teenagers really shouldn't be allowed to tweet, as she catches a block for tweeting about Keyshia Cole's singing ability when she was 19 years old. And look, she really wants to be unblocked, so maybe we can help her reunite with a singer she really loves, actually. And we love this episode, as Sequoia tells us about landing Hayley Williams on her podcast, Disturbed's new tour, surface piercings, and we go really deep on the Hollywood Vampires. Mon, 09 Oct 2023 - 266 - Episode 254: Dan Ozzi v. Eric Alper
What's the craziest interaction you've ever had with someone online that led to you being blocked? We answer that question and more as Dan Ozzi (writer) joins the show for the first time to give us the scoop on being blocked by everyone's least favourite Twitter question-asker, Eric Alper. We start the show by talking about UFC's preeminent crazy person, Bryce Mitchell, and then we move on from there to commiserate with Dan about the state of online, as he told us before the episode he was grateful to finally have people to talk about it with. So of course, we touch on Bluesky's emerging prominence, Elon's stupid tweet reply to Taylor Swift, his potential decision to make everyone pay to use the site, TikTok stickers, and comedy club menus. Plus, Dan is mad at the "20 songs" tweet, John brings up some rough content from Jimmy Carr and Andre Iguodala, and Stefan finds the Naked Lego subreddit. What is your favourite podcast to help support, while also getting access to bonus episodes, ad-free episodes, an exclusive Discord, and merch discounts? Well that must be Blocked Party! And you can support the show by heading over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month will get you THREE of those bonus episodes PLUS access to the whole damn back catalogue, over 100 episodes worth! Rot your brain! Which music writer is the one that you would say most reminds you of riding in the backseat of your dad's car through the woods at Christmastime? It's gotta be Dan Ozzi, who wrote the wonderful book Sellout, about punk and emo's major-label feeding frenzy in the late 90s and early 00s. It's available wherever you get your books. Mon, 02 Oct 2023 - 265 - Episode 253: Juniper v. Scott Adams
Juniper (Western Kabuki) joins the show for the first time to regale us of the time she was blocked by someone who is definitely not appearing on the show for the first time, it's Scott Adams! The creator of Dilbert gets ratio'ed to hell thanks to Juniper's reply to his tweet, and we love to see another soldier fighting the good fight against that weird freak. Remembrances of our appearance on Western Kabuki leads us into a discussion about just how many "main characters" there are on Twitter now, the recent developments regarding Twitter Circles and a potential full subscription model, and talk of getting DMCA'ed leads us to finding some truly horrible parody songs about it. I'm sure you can guess which song they're parodying. Plus, Juniper finds a woman who is getting her freak on with uhh, rollercoasters, our friend Demi Lardner sends Stefan an upsetting video that he forces us all to watch, and John's friend makes the right move with a jerk driving a Tesla. If you want to see the upsetting video in question, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you all of our episodes in video format UNCENSORED. Mon, 25 Sep 2023 - 264 - Episode 252: Django Gold v. God
Django Gold (comedian, writer) joins the show to discuss a block from on high, from the Almighty Wonder himself, from the very person who created the entire planet we call "home"...that's right, Django got blocked by God. Fortunately, God could not block us from doing this episode, as an early "New York Story" from Django turns into a very long discussion about getting pooped on by birds, and we also have just enough time left in the opening of the show to introduce Django to the Venus for Men. God bless indeed. Plus, Django gets tricked into downloading a mobile game from a Twitter ad, Stefan finds a truly unhinged Donald Trump AI pic, and John checks in on a free beer promotion at a Green Bay bar. If you want free beer**, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month! Mon, 18 Sep 2023 - 263 - Episode 251: Ike Barinholtz v. Producer Dan
Ike Barinholtz (actor) returns to the show and not a moment too soon, as he arrives without a Block Tale and leaves with about 50, as he insults Producer Dan and also remembers when he went off on a bunch of Trump people in his Instagram replies on Election Night. We also went off on this episode, as we discuss sending poop pics, how to behave at parent-teacher meetings, AI pictures of Yoda and Elon Musk, voice mods, and Stefan and Ike compare notes on their "guys", and of course, their guys are YouTube fast food reviewers and competitive eaters. Plus, Ike is getting deep into Turkish celebrity chefs, Tito Ortiz opens a restaurant in Florida to predictably bad results, and, as you'd expect, Stefan walks us through the whole Delta diarrhea disaster. If you want Stefan to walk you through many more disasters, head on over to our Patreon and support the dang show! $5/month at patreon.com/blockedparty gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Mon, 11 Sep 2023 - 262 - Episode 250: Jamie Loftus v. Joey Chestnut
Jamie Loftus (comedian, writer) returns to the show for a monumental 250th trip around the BP solar system, and perhaps unsurprisingly, we delve into her recent past in the world of hot dogs, as she gets extremely worried she's going to get blocked by hot dog eating legend Joey Chestnut after writing about him in her great book, "Raw Dog". It's a beautiful story that she's so eager to tell, she tells it during the social media update portion of the show. But who cares! It's a great episode that John is forced to record at a "podcast bar" in Calgary as he completed his move but his house does not yet have internet. We spend an awful lot of time discussing that situation, as well as Brockton, Massachusetts' own Rocky Marciano and the 24-foot statue devoted to him in his (and Jamie's) hometown, prompting a brief guest appearance from Jamie's dad, sportswriter Mike Loftus, in the form of a note to help place his career among the boxing greats. Plus, Stefan finally gets a great promoted post and we discuss vitamin overdoses and Mario Kart. If you want to overdose on Vitamin BP (Blocked Party), you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month. Coming out this week, Stefan made his triumphant return to the stand-up stage after a 13-year absence, and Dan captured the whole thing on video for your enjoyment. John's set will be on there too. Plus, Stefan Takes an L returns this month, and a donation gets you merch discounts, access to our Discord, and access to our entire back catalogue, which is over 100 episodes. Overdose indeed! Jamie Loftus is a comedian, writer, and podcaster, whose bestselling book, Raw Dog, is out now. You can also listen to her weekly on the Bechdel Cast, or listen to any one of her critically-acclaimed podcast series, the most recent of which was Ghost Church. Mon, 04 Sep 2023 - 261 - Episode 249: Erica Sigurdson v. A Facebook Friend
Erica Sigurdson (comedian) joins the show for the first time to tell us about something a lot of us went through during COVID: the former co-worker who re-appeared on the TL to get mad at you for something positive you said about the difficult time we are all going through. Luckily this episode was not a difficult time at all, as we get into Vancouver real estate, building "amenities", grocery delivery, the Australian horse movie Phar Lap, and Stefan and Erica try to convince John to smoke. Plus, grooms shove cakes into brides' faces for clout, Vivek Ramaswamy uses an insane hashtag, the Little League World Series child names are out of control, and in an episode recorded several weeks before Bob Barker's passing, we get into some Price is Right content in the Top 3. You know where else the Price is Right? Over on the Blocked Party Patreon! If you head over to patreon.com/blockedparty, just $5/month will get you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This past week, John and Stefan returned to the Actor's Studio with past guest Mack Gordon, as he led them through a reading of two David Ives plays in the second edition of Actor Party. Your donation also gets you the entire BP back catalogue (over 100 episodes!), access to our Discord, merch discounts, and more! We also have an ad-free tier, and the $100 Club for the most exclusive content you can imagine! Get on over there! Mon, 28 Aug 2023 - 260 - Episode 248: Niki Mohrdar v. Panago
Niki Mohrdar (comedian) joins the show for the first time to discuss a block that truly no person wants to ever pick up: one from a local pizza company. After a delivery gone wrong, Niki complains and when they refuse to follow through on a gift card, things get heated. And that's not the only fast food we discuss, as we get into the best fast food sides in our Top 3. Niki also lets us in on the weird YouTube commenters that are already pervading her new podcast, Stefan shows her Dewayne, Niki tells us about her new tattoo, and we discuss smoking, Wife Guys, and trophies. Plus, Niki realizes that the stuff she got made fun of for in high school is cool now on TikTok, Mikey Miles pretends his Amazon brand of shoes is good, and John finds perhaps the first-ever good Blue Check reply. If you want to visit the first-ever good Patreon and support the first-ever good podcast, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. Mon, 21 Aug 2023 - 259 - Episode 247: Gianmarco Soresi v. A Texting Fan
Gianmarco Soresi (comedian, The Downside) joins the show on a recent visit to Vancouver to tell us about the perils of having a texting service as a comedian, as one person texts him a bunch of times to tell him they'll be at a show and then...well, they ruin the vibe a bit. And it gets worse after, as they return to the texting service with some not great comments for Gianmarco. But we have LOTS of great comments for Gianmarco after this wonderful episode, as we discuss Canada and our silly money, weird teachers, networking, and talk of wrestling somehow leads to Gianmarco regaling us about the time he saw a live sex show in Amsterdam. Plus, Justin Trudeau's divorce, that wild Rudy Giuliani transcript, Ayo Edebiri reviewing Star Wars, and Stefan finally deletes the Twitter app off of his phone. If you want something you'll never delete off of your phone, join the BP Patreon today! Support the show, get access to over 100 bonus episodes in the back catalogue, plus 3 brand-new bonus episodes every month for just $5! What a deal! Mon, 14 Aug 2023 - 258 - Episode 246: Tom Walker v. ???
Tom Walker (comedian, bigsofttitty.png) returns to the show in-studio and for only the second time in show history, we don't reveal the blockee in the show's title, so as to keep the suspense intact. It's a great Block Tale though and involves a recent meeting gone awry. What does not go awry is this episode, as Tom teaches us all about the Gratitude Cafe in Los Angeles and we discuss bad cocktail names, Tom and John performing on a show together, Jar Jar Binks impressions, and we learn about Australia's worst reality show: Thorpie's Angels. Plus, Tom is sick of Twitter (but finds a very funny video from a Street Fighter tournament), Stefan is back on his Toyman BS, and John is still loving that EuroDance video parody. If you want John and Stefan's rhythm to be glad, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. Last week, Girl God joined the show to discuss the Canadian kids' game show "Uh Oh!" with us, and it was a real doozy. Plus you'll get access to our entire back catalogue of well over 100 episodes, merch discounts, access to our Discord, and lots more. Head on over and support your beautiful Blocked Boys today! Mon, 07 Aug 2023 - 257 - Episode 245: Kevin Banner's Block Brigade
Kevin Banner (comedian) returns to the show and he's discovered something about himself in the last year: he loves blocking people. Previously a self-described "mute man", Kevin figures he no longer cares if someone gets mild satisfaction from a block, and he wrote down every single person (or type of person) he's blocked over the last year to tell us all at once. It's a wild list, and one of the most memorable collection of Block Tales in the show's history. The rest of the show is also very memorable as Stefan tries his hand at the intro and Dan finally takes a poop in John's apartment. And we talk about stuff too, like rage comics, Jim Breuer, Twitter now being called "X", Elon's desire (and failing) to be a funny guy, and we go deep on Brian Bosworth puns. Plus, a new "Social Media Update" theme song from Dr. Jeb kicks off discussion of noproblemgambler's amazing TikTok, the insane PragerU clip that made the rounds this week, and our good friend Murder Bryan has an excellent dunk on Elon. If you want more amazing dunks, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month. Last week, Rachel Schaefer returned to discuss the season premiere of "...And Just Like That" with us, and this week, Girl God make their triumphant return to the program for another chaotic discussion, this time about iconic Canadian children's game show "Uh Oh!". It's a good one, and you won't wanna miss it. Speaking of not missing things, check out Kevin Banner's amazing new special, "Heavy Favourite" on YouTube. Hate looking at stuff? Mon, 31 Jul 2023 - 256 - Episode 244: Mark Chavez v. A Friend
Mark Chavez (comedian) joins the show to tell us about that one friend that just won't stop taking bad pictures of you or any pictures of your kid and posting them to the internet without permission. Sometimes, we just have to block that friend. Mark is blocking that friend. Thankfully we aren't blocking each other, so we can chat about VIP theatres, multi-part movies, Stefan's Sonic costume, CraveCon, and John correctly susses out that Mark might like to see some Peep This Out! Yes, John suggests it. His brain may finally have left him. Plus, we help Mark to make his first Thread, Stefan unearths an AOL live chat from MTV in 1995 and it disturbingly predicts the future of online, and we review DK Metcalf's insane diet. If you want to add more podcasting to YOUR insane diet, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. Last week, Jacob Balshin returned to answer YOUR listener questions in a mailbag episode, and this week, we return to "...And Just Like That", as we come up with a plan to only watch the S2 season premiere and season finale. Rachel Schaefer joins us for the premiere and it's good to know the show has not gotten any better with a season to think about it. Plus you'll get merch discounts, exclusive access to our Discord, and much more! Peep it out! Mark Chavez is a comedian who performs weekly with The Sunday Service in Vancouver, every Sunday at the Fox Cabaret. Mon, 24 Jul 2023 - 255 - Episode 243: Graham Clark v. Nicole Arbour
Graham Clark (comedian, Stop Podcasting Yourself) returns to the show for an extra-long, in-person episode and it wouldn't be complete without us watching Nicole Arbour's insane music video and talking about a Block that Graham admits he fully deserves. On this episode we go deep on New York Fries, seltzer, free stuff we get for doing podcasts, ad jingles, and as we get into some B-movies Graham loves, we learn an awful lot about the football and movie career of Brian Bosworth. Plus, we discuss the weird Ted Lasso fandom, Stefan starts to speedrun Gollum, and Tom Hanks' niece goes absolutely batshit crazy on a reality game show. If you want to go batshit crazy, consider signing up for even more of our insane content over at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month! Last week, Chris James joined us for a controversial bonus hangout episode where Stefan promised him that it was a main ep. But it wasn't. We discuss that and have a lot of laughs and you'll love it. This week, Jacob Balshin returns after his very memorable debut appearance a few months ago for a mailbag episode, where we answer YOUR listener questions. Plus you get merch discounts, access to our Discord, and lots more fun stuff. Don't miss it! Mon, 17 Jul 2023 - 254 - Episode 242: Danika Thibault v. A Twitter Account
Danika Thibault (comedian) joins the show to tell us about those few times she weirdly went viral for just...existing and being funny. We learn about one Twitter account in particular who compares Danika very unfavorably to one of history's worst humans, and then blocks Danika so she can't even respond. A real brave and powerful move! But it's a very brave and powerful episode as we discuss college dorm room posters, Danika getting to live out her dream of throwing a drink in a guy's face, what happens when the girls get food poisoning, bridesmaid's dresses, and John shows up on the cover of a newspaper in college underneath an embarrassing headline. Plus, we get a tour of Danika's mom's Facebook page, we talk about the submarine billionaire's blink-182 fan stepson, and a Jeopardy! contestant does very poorly with the funniest possible occupation to do poorly with. If you want to donate to the funniest possible cause, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Chris James joins us for a classic "hangout" episode that features one of the biggest laughs in BP history, and you won't wanna miss it. Mon, 10 Jul 2023 - 253 - Episode 241: Danielle Florence v. An Ex
Danielle Florence (comedian) joins the show for a Block Tale that is a first in the show's history. While having an ex be the subject of a block is not new, what IS new is that Danielle got broken up with and then HE requested SHE block him so that he wouldn't be tempted to look at her profile. It's a new level of odd! And this episode is our usual bit of oddness as we recorded it before the official status of the Oceangate sub was in, but we felt pretty confident discussing the eventual aftermath. Then, we debate whether or not ultimate frisbee is a bro/rich guy sport, we wonder whether or not Titanic was the first naked breast our parents gave us permission to see, and John tells a story of an infamous incident he was involved in at a pool party when he was a kid. Plus, we teach Danielle how to adjust her algo, a lot of blue check guys have some pitches for Kevin O'Leary, and the founder of Squidoo and Yoyodyne has some words of wisdom for those in business. If you want to get into business with us, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. We ended off last month with the first guest appearance from oft-requested hockey writer and podcaster Ryan Lambert, who joined us to talk about Stefan and John getting blocked by the same Vancouver sports radio guy. It was a great time, and so is all the other stuff we have for you, like an exclusive Discord, merch discounts, and much MORE! Support the boys and get a bunch of bonus stuff today. Mon, 03 Jul 2023 - 252 - Episode 240: Becca v. An Ex
Becca joins the show in-person for possibly the last time before her big move to Calgary, and her Block Tale is a doozy, as we travel all the way back to the MySpace era as Becca notices that she starts to fall down the ranks of her boyfriend's Top 8...and then it gets pretty weird. How weird? You'll have to listen as we discuss that and burping, BlueSky, the Gollum game and their German-ass developers, The Idol, we ponder going to Hedonism II as a joke, and we celebrate Dan's birthday with a McCain Deep 'n' Delicious cake. Plus, Becca discovers an insane game show on TikTok, John unearths a great Nikola Jokic soundbite, and Stefan forgets to do a social media update so he calls Demi and Jesse on WhatsApp. If you want to discover more great soundbites of your own, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Stefan and John did their own one-man play, as Ryan Beil led them in a reading of Edward Albee's "Zoo Story", and this week, Ryan Lambert joins the fellas to talk puck, as Stefan and John get blocked by the same Vancouver sports radio guy. You also get merch discounts, live show discounts, access to the Discord and MORE! So head on over there and check it out! Mon, 26 Jun 2023 - 251 - Episode 239: Dave Harris vs. SkipTheDishes
Dave Harris (comedian) returns to the show and yes, we do have a mobile delivery app in Canada called SkipTheDishes. It's based in Winnipeg, because...of course it is. It's a rare Block Tale where the blockee admits they're at fault, as Dave takes one on the chin here after getting upset with Skip for not delivering his six-pack of beer on time. Dave is at fault for a few other things too, as he tells us about changing the backgrounds on his colleague's computers to illicit images and we learn an awful lot about a website we probably wish we hadn't. We also discuss Bud Nitro, Call of Duty, and verified accounts. Plus, we try to get to the bottom of why Dave's YouTube show is getting episodes pulled randomly, Stefan tricks spam bots into making an insane T-shirt, and we learn a lot about those weird boot camps where adult men pay money to be screamed at incessantly for 4 days about how they're super weak, or whatever. If you want to make a very strong choice, you can support the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month! Last week, John and Stefan released an audio and video episode of their performance of "Zoo Story", with direction from Ryan Beil, and this week will see a rare "Hell Block the Herd" ep, as both John and Stefan get blocked by the same hockey guy for the same reason. Plus you get merch discounts, access to the Discord, and MORE, so check it out! Dave Harris is a comedian whose album "Pointless" is out now. Mon, 19 Jun 2023 - 250 - Episode 238: Randee Neumeyer v. A Facebook Marketplace Guy
It's the second episode in a row we have a guest returning after a long layoff, as Randee Neumeyer (comedian) returns to the show and folks...it's an all-timer. Randee has a very strange interaction on Facebook Marketplace where she gets blocked by a potential customer, so she does what anyone else would do in this situation: she takes it to Instagram. It's a great Block Tale buoyed by a great episode as we go ALL the way off the rails discussing flipping TV channels as a kid, potentially entering our Chris Gaines' eras, solving religion, getting standing ovations, and Randee introduces us to a site we were not at all prepared for as we officially enter our "Sketchy Sex" era. Plus, Randee introduces us to the world of Hinge and the concept of "rose jail", we check in on some guys who think the algorithm is against them, and a PGA Tour executive gives an insanely baffling interview. If you want some more insanely baffling content, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month! Last week, our good friend Libby Watson joined us to answer your questions in our Blocked Bag, and this week, Ryan Beil returns to the show to complete what we threatened to do on his most recent episode: Stefan and John perform Edward Albee's one-act play Zoo Story. Video was also made, and it was...well, it was insane. Plus: merch discounts, access to our Discord, and MORE! Randee Neumeyer is a comedian whose debut album, Bad Baby, is available wherever you get your comedy albums. You can follow her on Twitter and Instagram at @randeenoodle. Mon, 12 Jun 2023 - 249 - Episode 237: Ivan Decker v. Microwave Experts
Ivan Decker (comedian) returns to the show after a 230-episode absence to help explain one of the dangers of having a joke go viral online: idiots will try to tell you that the very hyperbolic facts you're offering in the joke about microwaves are wrong. It's Dutchposting gone wild in the comments, and Ivan's block finger gets itchy. We start the episode off on the right foot by discussing Ron DeSantis' insane lack of human emotion and feeling before getting into PoliSci guys, Stefan's return to being mean on Twitter, parenting TikTok, "Targeted Individuals", and Shohei Ohtani. Plus, Ivan introduces us to the concept of "baby-led weaning", and we go deep on TrumpBucks and Azealia Banks' advice for Taylor Swift regarding dating Matty Healy. Here's some great advice: support the show on Patreon! For just $5/month, you'll get access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Zach Cherry rejoined the show for our "serious" interview series Heck/Cullen, and this week, Libby Watson returns to answer YOUR questions in a mailbag episode. Mon, 05 Jun 2023 - 248 - Episode 236: Christine Bortolin v. A Scammer
Christine Bortolin (comedian) joins the esteemed Four-Timers Club as she appears on a main episode of the show for a fourth time to tell us the tale of running a music venue's social media account and how that makes you responsible for destroying the attempts of various, obvious scammers trying to sell "tickets" to sold out shows. If this pod was live, it would definitely be sold out as we have a blast dipping into the Cameo well and visiting our friends the C*ck Destroyers, Christine discusses Everton's triumphant win and their avoidance of relegation, and we touch on seltzers, Pilates, horrific injuries, Michelle Pfeiffer, and uhh...acidic ejaculate. Plus, we learn there aren't a ton of people eating money online, Markelle Fultz gets himself into trouble for following a suspect account, and Stefan shows us one of the worst things AI has come up with so far. If you want to follow a suspect account, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month! This week, Zach Cherry makes his return to the show on our brand-new interview series "Heck/Cullen". Zach is very patient with us as we attempt to ask him serious questions about his acting and comedy career in one of the funniest episodes we've ever done. You won't wanna miss it. Plus we've got merch discounts, an exclusive Discord channel, and MORE! So stop on by. Mon, 29 May 2023 - 247 - Episode 235: Joe Kwaczala v. Summoning Salt
Joe Kwaczala (comedian) joins the show to tell us about how creating something as a loving tribute doesn't always have its intended result, as Joe's comedy tribute to video game speedrunning documentarian Summoning Salt leads to a block. However, it seems mostly innocent and Joe has come to plead his case as to why the BP Community should help him get unblocked. Meanwhile, Stefan is back from Taiwan and it's our first main episode recorded in-person in nearly a month and it shows as we get a little loopy talking about sucking on coffee beans, getting too high, substitute teaching, and separating the wheat from the chaff. It's also been a minute and Twitter is crumbling by the day so it's a SUPER SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATE as we discuss Nick Adams, the Pepe Deluxe guy, Facebook fan pages, the stupid AI Ryan Reynolds Tesla "ad", and David Draiman of Disturbed continuing to be the most divorced man alive. If you want to make a commitment to us that you'll never want a divorce from, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This past week, we dropped a Canadian Education episode where we taught our friend Johnny Pemberton about Barenaked Ladies and this week coming up, it's the possible return of our interview series Heck/Cullen (we haven't decided yet. But it'll be cool). Plus you get merch discounts, access to our Discord, and much more. So check it out! Joe Kwaczala is a comedian with TWO comedy albums on the way, so be sure to follow him on social media to get all the details once it's happening. Mon, 22 May 2023 - 246 - Episode 234: Dakota Ray Hebert v. Her Mom
Dakota Ray Hebert (comedian) makes her debut on the show the day after Mother's Day by talking about, well, blocking her mom. Playing "Block Tag" for the last decade, Dakota tells us a great story of seeing her mom after a show, and finds the topic of various social media blocks an awkward topic of conversation among her family. But this episode is anything but awkward! In the last of the episodes we recorded before Stefan went to Taiwan, we discuss the Canadian Screen Awards, Love is Blind, the Food Disgust Test, and John desperately tries to remember the only horror movie he's ever seen. Plus, we discuss Indigenous bead work, a truly disgusting "CEO Update" from the CEO of Herman Miller after she refused to give employees bonuses, and Stefan buys a camera and microphone to communicate with Kiki while he is away. If you want to communicate with us in between our regular episodes, you can support the show by heading over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month! Last week, Dino Archie joined us for a mailbag episode, which was our first recording since Stefan got back from Taiwan and we were RUSTY (it was fun), and this week, Johnny Pemberton returns for a Canadian Education episode on one of Canada's most polarizing (and annoying) bands. Who is it? You'll have to donate to find out! (or just wait until we tweet about it). Dakota Ray Hebert is a comedian whose album "I'll Show You An Indian Act" is available now. Mon, 15 May 2023 - 245 - Episode 233: Jacob Samuel v. A Showrunner
Jacob Samuel (comedian) tells us about the time that he was preparing for an album taping for Just for Laughs and got into it with a local showrunner who didn't want to give Jacob stage time for some reason and caught the block. Luckily, there are lots of great reasons to give Jacob mic time on our show, as something pretty big happened since last time Jacob was here: he won a damn Juno! We discuss what it means to win a "Canadian Grammy" in Covid times and we go deep on rec league sports: coming back after a long layoff, getting injured, bad players, picking the right division, and the craziness that is rec league ball hockey. We also find time for Stalin and data collection too. Plus! Jacob tells us about RV Instagram, Stefan finds out that Tony Posnanski referenced us in a blog post, and John gets a nice greeting from the people who repaired his blender. If you want to feel like you've repaired your life (and ours), you can help support the show by heading over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month. Last month, Stefan finally got behind the wheel for the first time in over a decade and we filmed the whole thing! Plus you get merch discounts, access to our Discord, and our entire back catalogue of bonus episodes! So head on over and help us out! Mon, 08 May 2023 - 244 - Episode 232: Raft v. A Catfish
Raft (comedian, writer) returns to the show for the THIRD time to regale us about a time they had to block a catfish after realizing they were not the porn star they were pretending to be. But hey, the gangbang probably would've been pretty cool. You know what else is cool? The rest of this episode, as we discuss the angel emoji, dirty sodas, Raft's recent trip to Canada, Cindy Margolis, and we stumble upon yet another revelation that could only happen on a Raft episode: the eyes are the balls of the face. Plus, we chat Instagram life coaches, the soft drink brand Olipop, and we take a peek at some pretty unhinged candle smells. You know where it always smells great? Over at the Blocked Party Patreon! Supporting the show has never felt and smelled better and you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty to take it all in! $5/month will get you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month, including this past week where Stefan got behind the wheel for the first time in a decade and we caught it all on tape! It's Episode 2 of "Stefan Takes an L" and you won't wanna miss it! Plus we've got merch discounts, a great Discord, and lots more fun stuff, so get over there! Mon, 01 May 2023 - 243 - Episode 231: Sasha Mark v. A Grindr Guy
Sasha Mark (comedian) joins the show for the first time to tell us about a Grindr match that he hooked up with pre-pandemic who went a little wild during COVID: anti-vax, anti-woke, etc...and then still wanted to hook up with Sasha again after blocking him on every social media app. It's a wild ride and a great Block Tale for Sasha's first appearance on BP. And that's not all the gay dating app stuff we get into, as Sasha takes us on a deep--and we mean DEEP--dive into the world of Sniffies, a dating app that really cuts to the chase, even faster than Grindr, which we did not think was possible. We also chat about grilled cheese, gas station bathrooms, and chugging beer. Plus, we also get into social media birthdays, AI weirdos, Israel Adesanya, and we all learn that Spencer Rice is 60 and we do not like it. If you want to feel much younger again, throw $5 into the fountain of youth, which you can only find at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Or FOUR, if you wanna donate at $8/month or above. And if you did, last week we released a special hangout episode with our very funny friends from Evil Men that you won't wanna miss only for those bourgeois enough to donate at that level. And coming this week for all our donors, it finally happened: Stefan drove for the first time in over a decade. It went...well, you'll see how it went as we videotaped it all. Plus we got merch discounts, a great Discord, and more, so check it out! Mon, 24 Apr 2023 - 242 - Episode 230: Bridget Todd v. Neil deGrasse Tyson
Bridget Todd (podcaster) joins the show to tell us about how she acted on a feeling many of us have had: frustration with Neil deGrasse Tyson's lame posts to the point where she needed to block him. Thankfully there's no frustration to be had with the great content on this episode, as we discuss the various ad reads we've had to undertake for our respective shows, Gamer Goo's lame-ass rebrand, how fast food hits different in different areas and countries, and John and Stefan finally recount their long-anticipated hockey pool trip. Plus, Bridget introduces us to #WaterTok and pisses us all off in the process, John sees a good golf tweet (they exist!) and Stefan shows us the wonderful Miami Marlins song written by none other than Creed's Scott Stapp. If you want this podcast to take you higher, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, our pal Jesse Farrar joined us for a look at the bleak celebrity shout-out website Memmo, and coming this week, if you're an $8/month donor or above, you'll get the special bimonthly bonus episode which this time takes the shape of a hangout episode with our friends from Evil Men. You won't wanna miss it! Bridget Todd is a podcaster whose two shows, "Beef" and "There Are No Girls on the Internet" can be found where you get your pods. Mon, 17 Apr 2023 - 241 - Episode 229: Ryan Beil v. A&W Canada
Ryan Beil (comedian) joins the show and it's a long way from being our first-ever bonus episode guest, as he tells us the story of how A&W commercials changed his life...until he was fired from them. And then until he was rehired by them. And then fired again. It's a story that will resonate for Canadians and actors everywhere, and ends with Ryan forced to block the account of the beloved fast food chain. There are many great things that will resonate with the listeners this week, as we discuss dogs, Old Guys, old tweets, KFC's Oopee, and even though John and Stefan are now back from their vacation together, this episode was recorded before we left, so you're gonna hear all about it. Plus, Ryan tells of how his algorithm changed after spending a month in Regina, we ponder about our blue check futures, John watches Mancow get "waterboarded", and the Blocked Boys agree to perform a one-act play together. And once we do that one-act play? Well, it'll be over on our Patreon! For that, and more great bonus content, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty. You'll get three fun bonuses every month, including last week, as we had Maddy Kelly on for a mailbag episode that was a great time and this week, Jesse Farrar returns to the show for the second-ever episode of "Did You Get the Memmo?", our look at Canada's answer to Cameo. Plus you get merch discounts, access to our Discord, and more. Check it out. Jackie Pirico (comedian) joins the show for the first time to tell us about an ex who didn't treat her very well, and so she had to result to some very intoxicated commenting on his Instagram that led to a big-time block. Whomst among us has not committed such an action? Thankfully we are sober for this episode, as we learn an awful lot about salt licks and raccoon dogs, Stefan tries to get John to reveal where they're going on their surprise hockey pool trip this week, and Jackie and John compare notes about being caked up. Plus, Jackie reveals her frustration with on-stage photos, Stefan talks about his excitement for The Pope's Exorcist, and John finds the best MMA fighter tweet of all-time, courtesy of the UFC's biggest himbo, Paulo Costa. If you want some more himbo content, check out all the bonus content from your two favourite himbos, the Blocked Boys. Mon, 03 Apr 2023 - 239 - Episode 227: Jacob Balshin v. Barb
Jacob Balshin (comedian) joins the show with what may be the best Block Tale in show history, a 15-minute epic saga in where Jacob plays a memorial show for a fellow comedian at a gas station run by "Barb", a wild, 60 year-old showrunner who doesn't like how the show goes and makes Jacob pay with a block. It's a tale that truly has to be heard to be believed. As for what you'll hear on the rest of the show, we get into KFC Double Downs, cotton candy, gaslighting, and an extended meditation on Ontario's finest bulk food chain, Bulk Barn. Plus, we discuss Jacob showing up to a show and discovering someone he matched with on Tinder was also on the bill, a famous Lady Gaga interview, and Stefan brings us a big Joey update. Mon, 27 Mar 2023 - 238 - Episode 226: Ben Fawcett v. A FIFA Opponent
It's been 226 episodes and we somehow have only just now arrived at our first-ever online gaming block, as Ben Fawcett (Popcorn for Dinner, Not Even a Show) joins us to detail how he broke the "unwritten rules" of FIFA online and ended up having to block a guy for pestering him about it. After Producer Dan's vacation, it's our first episode in 2.5 weeks and we shake off the rust by getting into university newspapers, Cards Against Humanity, mythical birds, and Dan gives us all the details about his vacation and by that we mean, he tells about his really bad farts when he got back. Plus, we chat about NBA player Josh Hart's social media presence, weird guys on Capitalism Twitter, and Hugh Grant's memorable Oscars' red carpet performance. If you want us to roll out the red carpet for you, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, our friend Rachel Feltman returns to the show to dissect the Canadian kids' show Popular Mechanics for Kids, and we've got a very special Cullen the Herd coming up next week you're gonna love. Mon, 20 Mar 2023 - 237 - Episode 225: Bobby Warrener v. Will Hannigan
Bobby Warrener (comedian) joins the show to tell us about a real-life block courtesy of living with fellow comedian Will Hannigan. It turns out drinking, drugs, and comedians living together is a bad combination, as Bobby learns the hard way when he gets kicked out of his house after being very stupid one night. The story isn't all bad though, as it is a stepping stone to Bobby's (and Will's) eventual sobriety and they are back to being great friends. And we make great friends with Bobby on this episode as well, as we chat about teacher fashion, the newest in WHL names, Mr. Hands, underground rappers, and Stefan cannot resist showing Joey to Bobby. Plus, Bobby has gamed his algorithm to only show him nice things, Stefan brings a crazy Jordan Peterson quote to the show, and John finds a woman online who makes people pay her to come up with deranged baby names for them. If you want your algorithm to also have some nice things, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Brandon Ash Mohammed joined us in-studio for a fantastic mailbag episode, and with Stefan having a license in hand, John is now going to have to actually teach him what to do behind the wheel. Plus! We just launched some brand-new merch thanks to our friend Graydon Speace, and he made four absolutely killer designs for us you won't wanna miss. Every Patreon sub comes with a merch discount, so don't miss out! Hit up merch.blockedparty.com for all the stuff. Bobby Warrener is a comedian whose debut album is set to come out later this spring. Mon, 13 Mar 2023 - 236 - Episode 224: Caitlin Durante v. A Bumble Match
Caitlin Durante (comedian) joins the show IN-STUDIO, as they were up the coast for a Bechdel Cast tour and decided to continue on to Vancouver for a few beautiful days in February. Lucky us! This episode is a weird time-warp, recorded a few weeks ago as Producer Dan is now on vacation, but what a time warp it is, as Caitlin describes a time that they were "frothing" with horniness and ended up in a weird Bumble situation with a guy who was very unstimulating conversationally, but was hot. So it is what it is. And it doesn't stop there, as we get into Roseanne's doomed comedy set, mullets, Heathcliff's "sexy" girlfriend, and we try to bet on the Puppy Bowl. Plus, landlords with weird solutions, a very sexy "overseen" text at a New York Islanders game, and Caitlin tells us about their new social media activity, which is stitching "I'm a Believer" by Smash Mouth into dramatic movie scenes. If you want something to believe in, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Plus our whole damn back catalogue, which is nearly 150 episodes deep. Wowza! This week, it's another out-of-town friend joining us in studio, as Brandon Ash Mohammed returns to the show for a mailbag episode and we answer your burning questions. We also have merch discounts, an awesome discord, and the vaunted $100 Club, so get into it! Caitlin Durante is a comedian whose podcast, The Bechdel Cast, is available wherever you get your pods. Mon, 06 Mar 2023 - 235 - Episode 223: Emily Heller v. A Comedian
Emily Heller (comedian, writer) gets blocked by a comedian who took a turn for the worse at some point and ended up at January 6th. Whether Emily was blocked pre-January 6th or not, an inflammatory tweet on the fateful day sealed it, and she lived to tell the Tale. She also lives to tell us a bunch more stuff, as we chat about pull-out couches, doormats, writing jokes in our dreams, and we learn an awful lot about hot peppers. Elsewhere, we also chat about Tarot TikTok, our friend dril has a great tweet about the state of Twitter, and Stefan shows us a truly cursed promoted tweet reply. And if that's not enough, John and Emily's recent friendship over Jeopardy! explodes in the Top 3 and we decide that we may have to start an entire podcast about it. If you want more and varied episodes of this podcast, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we posted two great episodes, one for our $8 and above donors where John watched Goodfellas for the first time and dissected it with our friend Dan O'Sullivan, and another which was the first in a new series we're calling Heck/Cullen, where John and Stefan do a bit more of a serious-style interview with one of our more interesting friends. Episode 1 featured Steve Sladkowski from PUP, and it was a blast! We've also got merch discounts, a great Discord, and more, so check it out! Emily Heller is primarily a writer who you can follow on Twitter at @mremilyheller and you can listen to her podcast, Baby Geniuses, wherever you get your pods. You can also save $5 per square foot if you live in Los Angeles County and get rid of your lawns, apparently. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mon, 27 Feb 2023 - 234 - Episode 222: Alex Schmidt v. the "Today I Learned" Subreddit
Alex Schmidt (Secretly Incredibly Fascinating) is most likely our nicest guest ever and comes down into the internet trenches with the Blocked Boys to tell the tale of how he was blocked by the "Today I Learned" subreddit for having the audacity to have his listeners cite his podcast when posting facts on their subreddit. It's truly one of the more baffling blocks in show history, but makes for a great Tale. And Alex makes for a great guest as we discuss time zones, Alex leaving Twitter, and a conversation about the Grammys leads to the fellas deciding they're going to try and win one. Also not to be missed is Stefan putting in a virtuoso performance on the Learned League "Iconic Tweets" quiz and it's John behind the wheel of "Real or Fake" as he puts Stefan and Alex to the test with a taco restaurant's insane menu that our friend Bryan Quinby showed us a few weeks ago. If you want something real, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Yesterday, we released the first video episode of "Stefan Takes an L", the soon-to-be recurring series where Stefan learns how to drive, and John teaches him. In this episode, Stefan takes his written test...does he pass? Or will the nerves get to him, knowing that if he fails, the entire internet will laugh at him? You'll have to donate to find out! Alex Schmidt is a former multi-day Jeopardy! champion and the host of Secretly Incredibly Fascinating, a great podcast about facts. Mon, 20 Feb 2023 - 233 - Episode 221: Debra DiGiovanni v. A Comedian
Debra DiGiovanni (comedian) keeps us rolling on our "First-Timers Club" Sweeps Month, as she makes her show debut with a very strange PRE-block, as she discovers a comedian who went after fat people had blocked her without Deb ever interacting with her or saying anything about the routine at all. It's a fitting block for a wild episode, as we talk Tim Horton's, insane American "coffees", Trader Joe's, visas, and mean border guards. Plus, Deb tells us about her "Fake Boyfriend Fridays", Stefan gives us an update on the whole Twitter API fiasco, and John receives an unhinged message from a patron over on the POD Kast Patreon. If you want to donate to OUR Patreon, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we wrapped up our "...And Just Like That" S1 review with Alison Rosen, and later this month we have lots of fun stuff coming, including the first episode of "Stefan Takes an L", the series where John teaches Stefan to drive, and in keeping with the first-time theme, John will be watching Goodfellas for the first time and we'll be dissecting it with Dan O'Sullivan. Debra DiGiovanni is a comedian who is about to head out on a big tour including some dates in Canada and the US, which you can check out at her website, debradigiovanni.com. Mon, 13 Feb 2023 - 232 - Episode 220: Nathan Macintosh v. A Lazy Follower
Sweeps Month is BACK baby, and this year, the theme is "First-Timers Club"! It's all guests making their first appearance on the show, and we are thrilled to have Nathan Macintosh (comedian) join us for the first episode of our biggest month of the year. Despite being a First-Timer, Nathan immediately gets into the vibe of the show as we go after zombies as villains, saying no to things, the Rocky movies, and we go very heavy on the video game content, touching on games both old and new. He also gets disappointed when a follower makes a promise that he gets nowhere near following through on. Elsewhere, Nathan has a bunch of pilots following him after a joke of his goes viral in pilot world, Stefan gives us the latest update on the continuing train of bad decisions Elon Musk is making with regards to Twitter, and John's issues with Mr. Beast's curing of the blind sparks a whole discussion about YouTube content creation. If you want more of the content we create, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every month. Continuing with the First-Timers theme, this month will see the first episode in the new video series where John teaches Stefan how to drive called "Stefan Takes An L" and the first episode in our new interview series, Heck/Cullen. Mon, 06 Feb 2023 - 231 - Episode 219: Alexander Edward v. A Facebook Guy
Alexander Edward (Minion Death Cult) finally guests on a main episode and it may not surprise you that the guy who has a podcast about Weird Facebook Guys was blocked by a Weird Facebook Guy. Go figure! It's a strange episode (even moreso than usual) as John is suffering from a fever and Stefan and Alex had unfortunate BMs just before recording, but we persevere and dig into the weird lore behind Betty Boop, go over some of our favourite Dumb Guy Facts, and John recounts the time he drank 5.2 litres of pop in one night. Plus, Alex gives us the scoop on Diamond's funeral, Stefan shows us the most poorly-cooked steak he's ever seen, and John shows the fellas the grumpy side of Curling Twitter. If you want to be on our good side, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Bryan Quinby joined us to weigh in on the penultimate episode of "...And Just Like That", and this week, it's a big showdown as Trivia Party returns! Meg is away on holidays so John takes over as Quizmaster for a battle between the Go Off Kings and bigsofttitty.png. It goes about as well as you'd expect. PLUS! Sweeps Month is coming up with a lot of great content, we've got merch discounts, a lovely Discord, and way more! So get into it! Mon, 30 Jan 2023 - 230 - Episode 218: Darcy Michael v. 10,000 People
Darcy Michael (comedian) returns to the show after a nearly 4-year hiatus from being an in-studio guest to tell us about a right-wing website getting ahold of his and his husband's YouTube and firebombing the comments, leading to a collaboration with YouTube to block over 10,000 accounts at once. It's a bad-ass move and Darcy wastes no time getting re-acquainted with Stefan as we discuss Stefan's bidet, Connor Bedard, our hockey pool, the sorry state of the Vancouver Canucks, Darcy tells us about him and Jer touring America last year, and Darcy weighs in on whether or not Stefan is a power bottom. Plus, Darcy tells us about Drag Queen Storytime, Stefan breaks down the very fake "got her number" tweet, and John talks about his dislike of a recent Jeopardy! champion. If you want to be a champion, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Mon, 23 Jan 2023 - 229 - Episode 217: Girl God v. Each Other
We are 217 episodes into Blocked Party but Girl God prove that history can still be made, as this is the first time in show history that the two guests on the program have blocked EACH OTHER, and they do it LIVE on the air! Grace Freud and April Clark join us for the mutual blocking as well as to promote their upcoming Vancouver show, where they insist they will need an Air Marshal present. We also discuss tote bags, receiving mild criticism, bumper pool, lawn bowling, summer school, Stefan is back with an I Was Poisoned update, and John finds the most cursed gym ever on TikTok. Plus, a top 3 goes off the rails for both John and Stefan to the point where they need to record one of the few (maybe the first?) addendums in show history. If you want an addendum to this episode that's a back catalogue with over 150 bonus episodes, then head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month. As you heard on the episode, we are trying to get to 150 $100 Club patrons so John can teach Stefan's broke ass how to drive, and you'll also get tons of other goodies if you join the $100 Club today! Mon, 16 Jan 2023 - 228 - Episode 216: Erika Gajda v. Tinder
Erika Gajda (Swipes4Daddy) joins the show to talk about the trials and tribulations of running a very popular Instagram account that requires the use of Tinder, particularly once the folks over at Tinder HQ figure out exactly what Erika is up to and try to make her life that much more difficult. We discover Erika's insane number of burner phones, her attempts to dodge facial recognition software, and how to put the right photos on Tinder so the bots can't figure out exactly who you are. It's a wild ride, and we love every second of it. On this ride, Erika also tells us about the food poisoning bout that led to her cancelling her first appearance and the movies she watched, as John reveals he had a strangely busy movie-watching holiday season also. We also talk That 70s Show, 90-Day Fiancé, reprogramming the algorithm, France's Miss World representative, and Stefan is once again on his "I Was Poisoned" BS. If you want a lot less BS and a lot more BP, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. This week, Clare Belford joins us for a mailbag as we begin our quest to get to 150 $100 Club patrons so John is forced to teach Stefan to drive (which we will then film for your enjoyment). And the $100 Club (it's $100/year, not per month) is a great time as you get merch discounts, free live show tickets, every bonus episode, ad-free episodes, and access to the year-end BP Lottery, with exclusive prizes and other fun stuff. Mon, 09 Jan 2023 - 227 - Episode 215: Dino Archie v. Himself
Dino Archie (comedian) returns to the show to teach us all about taking the low road, and how a group of impostors pretended to be 90s R&B singer Tony Terry and managed to separate Dino from his own personal Facebook fan page. So take your shoes off and settle in to a great episode where we discuss Stefan and Dan's eventual fight, breaking up fights, our Subway orders, and we debate which fast food employees make the best fighters (public fights were sorta the theme of this one). Plus, Dino shows us a great clip from an open mic where a guy busts a guitar over someone's head, Stefan has a beef with the Sportsnet Plays of the Year, and John's dad draws a potato. If you want to draw something much better, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to the greatest art imaginable: Blocked Party bonus content. You'll get THREE bonus episodes every month, and if you donate at $8 or more, you'll get even MORE bonuses like the one we did last week where our friend Joshua Custodio came on the show to show us some of professional wrestling's wildest clips. You also get merch discounts, access to our Discord, ad-free episodes, and more, so check it out! Mon, 02 Jan 2023 - 226 - Episode 214: The 2023 Blocked Party Enemies List
It's the 4th Annual Blocked Party Enemies List, and it's the first time we've recorded this episode before Christmas, as the folks at the damn calendar office wouldn't co-operate. So while you don't get the usual Christmas rundown from the fellas, what you DO get is our annual look at who we want to be mortal enemies with for the upcoming year. Before that, we go over our 2022 Enemies List, where Stefan finds out that he didn't really have an effective vendetta against most of his 2022 Enemies but John actually managed to get a business shut down (probably). And before ALL that, we talk the best Mario game ever, weed drinks, moving to Calgary, Stefan gives his Avatar review, John gets Stefan to agree to organize the 2023 Top Three Weekend, and Dan joins us in doing the Enemies List for the first time ever. FIFTEEN ENEMIES! It's the day after Christmas: no better time to get hatin'. Also, if you'd like to support the show, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty. We got lots of cool stuff over there. Bonus episodes. Merch Discounts. Discord Access. It's cool (as I said previously). Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mon, 26 Dec 2022 - 225 - Episode 213: Stefan v. NORAD Santa Tracker w/ Mark Little
It's a historic day at Blocked Party, as we do a Stefan block on a main episode and Mark Little (comedian) sets the record for the fastest return by a guest, coming back only 8 episodes after Appearance #1. Why? Well, our scheduled guest came down with the stomach flu a few hours before recording. Then, John came down with a migraine. With John knowing he barely had an hour before his body gave in, we switched Mark from bonus episode duty to regular episode duty, and John ended up with his "flu game", leaving the pod several times throughout but returning just in time to do an Andrew Dice Clay impression and according to Mark, reveal a more "cool, chill" version of himself. Of course, with John out of the picture, Stefan immediately introduces Mark to Rule 34 and Dewayne, and tries to figure out how he managed to get blocked by the NORAD Santa Tracker. Elsewhere, Producer Dan wears a dress shirt, Stefan reveals he can't read, Elon makes a new and bizarre rule for Twitter, and we wax poetic about the World Cup and 90s reboots. If you want to be a part of more history, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every month, plus a truly insane back catalogue totalling over 100 episodes. You get it all! 5 bucks! What a deal! Last week, we released the VOD of our live call-in show from November, and Chris James joined us to talk about "...And Just Like That". Plus we've got merch discounts, a discord, ad-free episodes, and more, so be a part of history! Mark Little is a comedian whose new podcast, "How Can We Help?" with Jackie Pirico comes out this January. Mon, 19 Dec 2022 - 224 - Episode 212: James Hartnett v. Jeff Blair
James Hartnett (comedian, Evil Men) joins us to reveal his shameful truth to the BP audience: he has a sports burner account. And it turns out that you can still be a victim of name searching on a harmless burner account, which James finds out when he gets blocked by Sportsnet's own Jeff Blair for a comment that wasn't even directed at him. This episode also sees Stefan revealing a shameful truth, which is that he knows what Bad Dragon [dot] com is, and now, very, very unfortunately, so do you. We spend a good amount of time reviewing the contents of that site as well as bidets, poutine, 90s video games, dessert tables, and John makes friends with a cat. Plus, James has a friend who uses Facebook like Twitter, John asks the guys to weigh in on fudge, and Stefan graces us with the news that the Krassensteins are back on Twitter. If you want more Krassenstein content (quite literally--we interviewed them a few years back), you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, KC Novak joined for a great mailbag and this week, the VOD from last month's call-in show will finally grace the airwaves now that John and Dan are back from vacation. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, a great Discord, and more. So check it out! James Hartnett is a comedian whose album "Get Bent!" is available wherever you get your albums. Mon, 12 Dec 2022 - 223 - Episode 211: Annie Rauwerda v. A Nose Guy
Annie Rauwerda (Depths of Wikipedia) joins the show to tell us about a thing we didn't know existed: a guy who is really into noses. After a guy is in her mentions telling her how much he loves her nose, Annie has a bunch of her friends telling her to block him, but the story takes a few turns from there and ends up being one of the nicer Block Tales we've ever had on the show. And the whole show is nice in general, as we find out we're recording the show on Annie's birthday, the first time a guest has been willing to spend their birthday with us! What a birthday it is, too, as we learn about her new boyfriend, the Wikipedia editing community, and various Wikipedia hoaxes, including the teenager who almost killed an entire language with their Wikipedia posts. Plus, Stefan shows us a bunch of posts from guys who want Elon to invent stuff, John gets outed as a guy who looks like he might own a Tesla, and Annie shows us a piece of underwater fibre-optic cable. If you want to go underwater with us, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month! This week, KC Novak returns to the show for a mailbag episode where we answer your listener questions, and we are nearing the conclusion of the Sex and the City episodes, plus other fun stuff is on the way. You can also get ad-free episodes, merch discounts, access to our Discord, and more. So check it out! Alyssa Limperis (comedian, actor) joins the show to give us the heads up that even if you post about your recently deceased father, the bots will still hunt and find you. In this case, it's "RyloStackz" who finds an Alyssa Instagram post about her dad and promises an herbal cure (?) for HPV (???). Thank goodness for that. And thank goodness for the rest of the episode, as we chat about old cell phones and other technologies, Alyssa's high school track career, John's abysmal high school Athletic Director, and the various mispronunciations of our names. Plus, Alyssa shows us her high school photos which causes some reminiscing about late 90s/early 00s "cool" fashion, Stefan gets laid off from his job, and dril gets interviewed in the Washington Post, which causes some commenters to lose their minds. If you wanna further lose your mind, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we had Caitlin Durante on the show to discuss the Canadian children's show Polka Dot Door, and we've got a bunch of other fun stuff up there like merch discounts, access to an exclusive Discord, ad-free episodes, and the $100 Club, which gets you lots of nice goodies. So check it out! Alyssa Limperis is a comedian and actor whose special, "No Bad Days", is available now on Peacock. Mon, 28 Nov 2022 - 221 - Episode 209: Producer Dan v. BigBearGrizzly
When your scheduled guest doesn't show up, sometimes you have no choice but to resort to your next best option: a very stoned, just-woke-up, groggy Producer Dan. We try to wake Dan up by talking about G Fuel right off the top of the show, and that leads into a discussion about Dan's brand-new kittens (one of whom is named after piss) and his block, which sees him catch an instant block from an online wrestler (the real kind of wrestling). We also dive into Twitter's recent turn to collapse, trading card shows, Stefan learning to drive, and John's excitement for the documentary about the Pepsi contest Harrier Jet turns into a discovery mission for other people who have exploited mail-in contests for their own gain. Elsewhere, Dan buys a blue checkmark, Stefan shares an old Russell Crowe post, and John gives us an update on last week: Dan did indeed show us his single nut. If you don't want to buy a blue checkmark, how about spending that money on our show instead? We love your support and if you become a patron of the show over at patreon.com/blockedparty, $5/month will get you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. This week, it's a Canadian Education episode as we review Polka Dot Door, and we have our first-ever CALL-IN SHOW this Friday, live on Zoom. It's your chance to chat with the Blocked Boys and you have to be a patron to get the link, so join today! Dan is the producer of this show and some other great ones (I Hate This Team, Your Kickstarter Sucks) and you can follow him on Twitter and Instagram at @early90spants. Mon, 21 Nov 2022 - 220 - Episode 208: Ola Dada v. 4 Words
Ola Dada (comedian) joins the show to demonstrate one of the greatest displays of control we've seen in a Block Tale, as someone commenting on his viral joke starts their reply with four words and those four words are enough to earn that person the block without Ola even reading the rest of what they said. What are the words? You'll have to tune in to find out! When you tune in, you'll hear way more than four words from us, as we talk gift wrap, desserts, cheese, curling, Dan's dead nut, adult circumcision, and Stefan receives some "constructive criticism" on his hockey podcast. Plus, we dive into the online presence of alpha males, Twitter's insane last 10 days, and the world grants John the music festival of his dreams. If you want the bonus content of your dreams, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Becca made her return to the show for a mailbag episode in where she got high beforehand and we all had a lovely time as a result. This week, our continuing look at "And Just Like That" continues, as Danika Thibault returns to give us that key millennial insight into the show. And, we've got our last Zoom live show of the year coming up November 25th for patrons only, so don't miss out! Mon, 14 Nov 2022 - 219 - Episode 207: Lizzy Cooperman v. An "Artist"
Lizzy Cooperman (comedian) plumbs the depths of her Facebook block list to find a weirdo who offered to draw her at a stand-up comedy show and then when he showed her the picture...well, let's just say it was problematic. How so? You'll have to listen to find out. And as you listen, you'll hear us discuss Lizzy's podcast, "In Your Hands", where she lets her listeners decide how to live her life, and John, spurred on by an old Eric Andre interview, thinks maybe that should include listening to some more Korn. We also get into assembling IKEA furniture, Crocs, journaling, Instagram verification, Eric Trump, and Buddhist movie reviews. If you want to bring some more zen into your life, donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, we've got a mailbag coming out where Becca makes her triumphant return to the show to answer YOUR questions. Plus, we get close to the end of Sex and the City, we've got a live Zoom show upcoming, and there's even more good stuff around the bend. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, an exclusive Discord and more, so get on over there and check it out. Mon, 07 Nov 2022 - 218 - Episode 206: Brandon Ash-Mohammed v. A Grindr Guy
Brandon Ash-Mohammed (comedian) joins us in-studio for the very first time to regale us with the tale of how he met up with someone who looked like "bootleg Eminem" off of Grindr and then had a very strange hook-up experience that led to a block. And that's not the only Grindr-type experience we get into, as Brandon updates where Stefan and John stand in the gay classification system now that he's met us in person, and he gives Stefan a compliment that Stefan believes is the highest he has received. And speaking of being high, Brandon tries BC weed for the first time and we chat about 90-Day Fiancé, hair loss treatment, Movie 43, Brandon's algorithm, 90s textbook covers, and Bob Costas has himself another weird broadcasting moment. If you want some more weird moments, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we finally released the video of us taking Jesse Farrar to Canadian Tire, and boy, is it ever fun. We've also got our last Zoom show of 2022 coming up near the end of November, our continuing Sex and the City series, and more great guests and bonus stuff coming down the pipe this month you won't wanna miss. Mon, 31 Oct 2022 - 217 - Episode 205: Mark Little v. A Bad Fella
Mark Little (actor/comedian) joins the show to, in his words, provide us with a "short, troubling anecdote" about how he was forced to block a guy after he sent Mark a very strange DM and turned out to be...well, not a good guy (a Nazi). Thankfully Mark was able to cut the conversation off before it got too bad and the rest of this episode is neither short nor troubling, as we chat about Mark creating one of the first viral videos ever, Powerthirst, and how that led to an appearance at a weird convention for people who made stuff that went viral (in 2009). In other news, we recorded this episode two weeks ago and Stefan says he's excited for the Canucks season (lol) and that leads to a discussion of hockey fans, EA NHL soundtracks, and Treble Charger. Plus! Hellraiser and other horror movies, the Super Mario movie, YouTube comments on classic rock videos, and John forgot that he already talked about Coyote Ugly last week. If you want to make sure you hear everything we talk about every week, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, it's a pair of video episodes as Aaron Warner from ChapoFYM and I Hate This Team joins us to watch some classic hockey highlights in the special $8 tier and above bonus, and finally, the video of us taking Jesse from Canadian Tire will see the light of day. You won't wanna miss it! Plus, you get merch discounts, access to the Discord, live show discounts, ad-free episodes, and MORE! Mon, 24 Oct 2022 - 216 - Episode 204: Zach Cherry v. John Legere
Zach Cherry (actor, Severance) joins the show to reveal two things about himself: one, that he is a big BP fan, and two, that he could no longer handle the promoted tweets of slow cooker expert and former T-Mobile CEO John Legere, and so he had to dole out the block. Luckily our John doesn't get blocked on this episode, as his viewing of Coyote Ugly sparks a movie conversation, Zach reveals that by listening to our show he has been Joey-pilled, and a look into the phrase origins of "taking the piss" leads us to talking about, well...drinking piss. Elsewhere, we talk about Zach's quest to get as many retweets as possible on a singular tweet, John once again goes viral for just reporting the latest sports happening, and Stefan is back from TwitchCon with the inside scoop on the dreaded foam pit. Luckily, if you want to consume even more wonderful Blocked Party content, you don't need to break your back! It's just a simple $5/month donation to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, and that'll snag you THREE bonus episodes every month. This week, Libby Watson joins us to discuss the latest "And Just Like That" episode, and of course coming very soon, we take Jesse from YKS to the danged Canadian Tire store! It's a video episode for the ages you won't wanna miss. Zach Cherry is a comedian and actor whose most recent work, the critically-acclaimed, Emmy-nominated sci-fi thriller, Severance, is available now on Apple TV+. Mon, 17 Oct 2022 - 215 - Episode 203: Demi Lardner and Tom Walker v. A Huge Fan
The guests who have travelled the furthest to be in studio and two of our absolute faves, Tom Walker and Demi Lardner (comedians, bigsofttitty.png) join the show all the way from Sydney, Australia to discuss how one of Tom's biggest fans just couldn't handle the fact he got COVID and had to cancel some comedy shows. We have no trouble handling the tough topics on this week's episode though, as we get into some heavy stuff like slot car racing message boards, losing our virginity, witches on Tumblr, cane toad purses, and we go down another Rule 34 rabbit hole that leads to discussion of Goofy's history and we find a truly insane (and hilarious) Looney Tunes drawing. If you want more insane (and hilarious) content, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we put out another very special in-studio episode as the YKS Boys, Jesse and db, joined us all the way from Nashville for a fun hangout. Later this month there will also be a special "Jesse Goes to the Store...in Canada" video bonus episode that you won't wanna miss. Plus we've got higher tiers for more bonuses, merch and live show discounts, a great Discord, and more! Mon, 10 Oct 2022 - 214 - Episode 202: Jesse Farrar v. Dewayne
And we....are....LIVE! On the very first live edition of Blocked Party, Jesse Farrar (YKS, Go Off Kings) joins the Blocked Boys in Vancouver for a show in front of 110 of the podcast's finest fans, and it turns out having a live audience there is an excuse to get wild, as Jesse doesn't know how to use TikTok and gets himself blocked by "one of his guys", causing him to delete his entire account and start anew. Elsewhere on the show, Jesse teaches us about "reps" through the infamous "Booty Jordans" and Stefan thinks the name "Top Three Weekend" is wrong. Plus! Jesse meets Kiki, and we discuss phone numbers, toilets, A&W Canada, Jeffrey Toobin, Stefan getting mean online again, and John gets Jesse a gift: a National Geographic for Kids book about 9/11. If you want to get yourself a gift, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you ACCESS to THREE bonus episodes every single month! As you may know, a lot of our friends descended on Vancouver this week and that means some great bonus episodes are coming your way, including a hangout ep with the YKS boys IN STUDIO, and John and Stefan take Jesse to Canadian Tire for a very special bonus video episode. Plus your sub comes with merch and live discounts, access to our Discord, and a lot of other very cool stuff. So get into it! Mon, 03 Oct 2022 - 213 - Episode 201: Dana Smith v. A WhatsApp Scammer
Dana Smith (comedian) makes her debut on the show, and so does our new opening bit, much to Producer Dan's consternation. The rest of the episode doesn't make him upset at all though, as Dana tells us about her and her husband (and past guest) Tim Gray's wedding, which happened live on CBC Radio, and their upcoming big move to Toronto. John also gives Stefan and Dan some grief for showing up to recording 3 hours early, we discuss some plans for the upcoming live shows, we learn about Winnipeg, and Dana and John encourage Stefan to sing more. Plus, Dana has us weigh in on a suspicious DM, Joe Biden has a strange way of complimenting Elton John, and we dig into the vault for Patrice O'Neal's take on Radiohead's "Creep". If you don't want to be a creep or a weirdo, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Dana returns along with Tim for one of our most chaotic mailbags ever, and we'll likely have some clips of the live show coming shortly after. Mon, 26 Sep 2022 - 212 - Episode 200: David J. Roth v. Republican Commenter Guys
IT'S EPISODE 200!!! A double century's worth of BP can only be celebrated in one way, and that's by getting Dave Roth (Defector) on the show to Remember Some Guys. It turns out that a unique way you can get blocked by Republican pests on Twitter is not to try and get in a flame war with them over politics, but by simply commenting which baseball player their ratio'ed stat line might be best compared to. It's a block that only Dave could pick up and he uses it to get blocked by such luminaries as Comfortably Smug. The rest of the episode is all comfort and perhaps not a lot of smug, as we go extra long and talk about some of our favourite topics like bidets, the weird guys on Twitter who show their junk to porno bots, carpeted bathrooms, our student meals, and we do indeed Remember Some Guys in our Top 3. Plus, Erick Erickson, Stefan's N64 hot takes, and John finally reveals the type of Wife Guy he is. If you want to be a Blocked Party Wife Guy, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Andrea Jin joined us in our continuing series where we review "And Just Like That", the new Sex and the City spin-off, and we've got a sweet $100 Club where you can get a Cameo from Stefan and John, all the bonus episodes plus an extra one every other month, merch discounts, ad-free episodes, and an exclusive Discord channel. No better way to celebrate episode 200 than with a $100 Club membership! David J. Roth is the co-founder of Defector Media and you can follow him on Twitter at @david_j_roth. Mon, 19 Sep 2022 - 211 - Episode 199: Ryan Williams v. Ryan Williams
Ryan Williams (comedian) returns to the show and tells us about the perils of having a very common first and last name combo, as he duels with a conservative politician on Twitter who is also named, well, Ryan Williams. Lucky for us, the Ryan Williams we love is the one who is guesting on our show, and he reveals himself to be a "John guy" and all that entails over the course of an episode where we touch on football, Farrah Fawcett, Queen Elizabeth, and we workshop what the new intro for the show should be with next week's new theme song and whether or not the show should add a soundboard. John also gets plagued with the news of a "Tim Allen drum kit" and Stefan pays tribute to us recording on 9/11 with an unfortunate podcast moment from last year. If you want some more fortunate podcast moments, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we posted a video episode with Alison Rosen where we watched Canadian Heritage Minutes, and this week, Andrea Jin rejoins the show to talk Sex and the City. Plus, we've got merch discounts, a great Discord, and joining our $100 Club means you get a Cameo from Stefan and John. So don't delay! Ryan Williams is a comedian whose new album, "Manual Labour of Love", is out now on all the streaming platforms and for purchase on iTunes. Mon, 12 Sep 2022 - 210 - Episode 198: Charlie Demers v. A Friend
Charlie Demers (comedian) returns to the show with the rare Block Tale that has a happy ending, as a weird text exchange with an old friend ends up turning out positively and cooler heads prevail. And speaking of cooler heads, us Blocked Boys and Charlie talk about some pretty cool stuff as Stefan gets sick from the fair, Charlie teaches us lessons about our urine, and John is almost through his first watching of The Sopranos. Plus, we chat about how Charlie actually followed through with more Peep This Out! content after his last appearance on the show, and we get into One Bone shirts, Rob Schneider's new movie, the Pizza Hut "oral history", and we receive perhaps our worst Jibbitz yet. If you want some more of this show's oral history, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month. Last week, Chris James joined us to talk about Stefan's block by Benny Johnson, and this week, Alison Rosen returns to the show for a Canadian Education video episode, the topic of which will be near and dear to many Canadians' hearts. Plus we've got merch discounts, an exclusive Discord, and a back catalogue of over 100 episodes to keep you company. Mon, 05 Sep 2022 - 209 - Episode 197: Racquel Belmonte v. The Pope
It's chaos, baby! And what more would you expect from one of our absolute faves, Racquel Belmonte (comedian), who returns to the show to drive the entire thing directly off the highway and into a rapidly flowing ravine. It starts almost immediately as discussion of The Sopranos devolves into a long segment about pegging, and never really recovers from there. Stefan buys a bidet live on the show after using John's for the first time in a while, while Racquel regales us about a particularly strong bidet in Hawaii that she uhh...used for other purposes. It's not all insane though, as John and Stefan discuss the wedding they went to over the weekend, Harry Styles waxes poetic about chicken nuggets, Twitter goes wild over student debt forgiveness, and we listen in on some Gaelic football commentary. Oh, and Racquel tries profusely to get blocked by The Pope and when she doesn't, agrees to commit a sin live on air. Which one? You'll have to listen to find out! If you want to commit a more tasteful sin, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Chris James returns to the show to discuss Stefan getting blocked by Benny Johnson, and last week saw the release of our second Secret Party episode, as Nathan Hare joined us to break down some listener secrets. Plus we've got merch discounts, a great Discord, and MORE. So get on over there, would'ja? Racquel Belmonte is an improviser and voice-over actress who can be heard on the upcoming fourth season of Dragon Prince on Netflix. Mon, 29 Aug 2022 - 208 - Episode 196: Mo Amir v. Sukh Dhaliwal
Mo Amir (This is Vancolour) joins the show and brings a little local Vancouver flavour to the podcast, as he gets blocked by a local Member of Parliament despite them never interacting, even after the block when Mo tried to sort it out through official channels. It's a great look into what it means to host a local politics-focused TV show, and how even our government can get down in the muck with us Twitter weirdos. We start out away from our familiar medium by getting into TikTok and paring down our algorithms, and move from there into our favourite older technology: Maxim Magazine. We also chat about casino bands, we get a listener update on Every Buddy's, John's dad gets into Young Sheldon, we read Ryan Giggs' love poems, and Stefan introduces us to Real or Fake: Peep This Out edition. If you wanna peep some more content out, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, our Sex and the City series continued with listener Molly, and this week, it's the triumphant return of SECRET PARTY, the special bonus episodes where we read your listener secrets. Check it out! Mo Amir is the host of This is Vancolour, a TV show on CHEK-TV here in British Columbia, and a podcast available wherever you get your pods. You can follow him on Twitter at @vancolour. Mon, 22 Aug 2022 - 207 - Episode 195: Joshua Custodio v. Ryback
It's a rare "BP Nights" version of the show as long-time bonus guest and first-time main episode guest Joshua Custodio (Wrestling Brain) joins the Blocked Boys to give us the inside scoop on why former WWE big man Ryback didn't just block Josh, but then immediately stole the meme he blocked him for. With all of us feeling the juice from the moon being in the sky, things descend quickly as Josh picks a tough opening for John and Stefan won't let John get the intro out, either. Once things finally do get rolling, we talk about the five-year anniversary of the Go Off Kings, John somehow talks his way into watching a Joey, and we get sent a truly cursed Jibbitz from a truly cursed Jibbitz dealer. Plus, we go deep on the odds on Kim Kardashian's new beau, Tony Jefferson, Antonio Brown, cops on Hinge, and John debuts a new impression. If you want to be our new beau, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month, This week, contest winner and listener Molly joins us in-studio all the way from London to discuss episode 4 of "And Just Like That" in our continuing bonus series, and we've got another Secret Party on the way very soon too. Plus we've got a Discord, merch discounts, and more. Joshua Custodio is a Twitch streamer whose show, Wrestling Brain, can be seen every Wednesday night and Saturday morning over at twitch.tv/wrestlingbrain. You can follow him on Twitter at @j0shc. Mon, 15 Aug 2022 - 206 - Episode 194: Robin Hatch v. Kanye West
Robin Hatch (musician) doesn't pick up the block from the man himself, but a tweet cheekily comparing her positive album review in the Guardian with a less-than-positive review of Kanye's album "Donda" in the same publication earns her a lot of unwanted attention from people who don't quite understand the joke, to the point where she even takes a phone call about it offline. This episode starts with some offline content too, as the Blocked Boys and Robin ponder stick families and Robin offers up yet another pronunciation of "decal" we bet you didn't see coming. From there, we get into Boston Pizza, Tim Hortons' weird "Dream" donuts, celebrity trading cards, the Trapt guy, and Robin gets into it with Selena Gomez's fanbase--which we learn are called "Selenators"--in an attempt to get blocked for the pod. If you want to be a part of our fanbase, you can donate to the show at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we posted a mailbag with our friend Derek, and we've got the continuation of our Sex and the City bonus series on the way. Plus! A new Secret Party episode this month for all of our $8 and above donors, which you won't wanna miss. You also get merch discounts, access to our Discord, and more. So check it out! Mon, 08 Aug 2022 - 205 - Episode 193: Sexual Jumanji v. Elon Musk
Sexual Jumanji (Trill Withers Show) makes his debut appearance on the program after we had originally booked him two years ago but some Disney Adults made his life increasingly difficult. We get into that and his block by the Twitter Purchaser himself, Elon Musk, which results in a happy ending when Joe Rogan gets involved to get SexJ (aka "John Musk", Elon's brother) unblocked. That energy permeates the whole episode as we get into angry sports parents, Rudy Giuliani trading cards, and Producer Dan takes a picture of himself pooping. Plus! We get a very good homemade Jibbitz, a Seattle Mariners prospect gets put on the spot, and SexJ tells us about his foray into the world of ventriloquism. If you want to foray further into the world of Blocked Party, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, it was a double dip as the VOD of our Minion Death Cult bonus went up as well as a great Hell Block episode with Will Weldon. We've got some more great stuff in store this month including the return of Secret Party, so head on over to our Patreon and check it out! Sexual Jumanji is a co-host of the YouTube stream The Trill Withers Show, and you can find his sports gambling takes and more over on his Twitter at @MostCrucified. Learn more about your ad choices. Mon, 01 Aug 2022 - 204 - Episode 192: Kelly Dwyer v. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Kelly Dwyer (basketball writer) fittingly gets blocked by one of the NBA's all-time leaders in blocks (both on the court and apparently off), for mostly just reporting that people were beefing with Kareem for one reason or another. If we seem a little off this episode, it's because we are forced to record early so Stefan can go on a picnic, which we break down in full detail here. We also get into full details on Canadian beers, upscale-casual restaurants, NHL draft picks, and there's an update on the poop in John's apartment building. Plus! Guitar tones, The Rehearsal, horrible viral tweets, and Kelly breaks down his terrible Twitter Likes situation. If you want a situation you'll definitely like, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. This week, Will Weldon returns to the show as we get into Stefan's famous KFC block, and the VOD from last Friday's live show where we broke down horrible Memmos with the boys from Minion Death Cult will also go up. Plus we've got a great Discord, a massive back catalogue, and more, so check it out! Kelly Dwyer is a basketball writer whose Substack, The Second Arrangement, is available at tsa.substack.com. Mon, 25 Jul 2022 - 203 - Episode 191: Stacey McLachlan v. Kelladactyl
Stacey McLachlan (comedian) returns after a too-long absence from the show to tell us about having to block an Instagram/TikTok dancer for moving in a weird way. Not in general, just weird to Stacey. And we pair that with a very grim listener block to really balance it all out. That's not all the listeners contribute this week, as we get a ton of new Jibbitz for the #JibbitzChallenge, from some more horrible Friends ones to a Yoda one Stefan seems to actually love unironically. We also get into virtual pets, Babygram, hot tubs, Alan Dershowitz's book feedback, the tasteless Fox Sports baseball promo, and Stacey regales us with the crazy story of how her and her husband used a professional wrestling event to name their baby. If you want to contribute to our baby (this show), you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, Rachel Schaefer joined us for a fun mailbag, and coming up this Friday, it's another Patrons-only Zoom show as our friends in Minion Death Cult are going to join us for a look at the very Canadian version of Cameo, Memmo. It's gonna be a time. Stacey McLachlan is a comedian whose musical comedy show will be live at the Biltmore in Vancouver on August 26th, and whose husband's wrestling promotion will make its debut on September 17th at the Commercial Drive Legion. Mon, 18 Jul 2022 - 202 - Episode 190: Malik Elassal v. A Friend's Ex
Malik Elassal (comedian) joins the show for the first time to tell us about a friend's ex who went rogue to start the pandemic and forced Malik into blocking her after some very strange comments regarding Malik getting COVID early in the pandemic. After we learn that Malik's day job is as a mattress delivery man, we discuss the logistics of delivering mattresses and Stefan and John dive into their days working as manual laborers. Then, a discussion of what restaurants had to deal with the "rats in the food" urban myths leads to a reappearance of Joey on the program, much to John's chagrin. Plus! Malik's Instagram feed is populated with gym guys, Maya Rudolph loses her mind on Hot Ones, and Stefan finds a wholesome, Megan Thee Stallion-appreciating TikTok. If you want to appreciate more of our wholesome content, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, we kept our new "And Just Like That" watchalong series going with a great guest appearance from Cait Raft, and this week, it's a mailbag with a returning Rachel Schaefer. Plus, we've got merch discounts and live show discounts which will come in handy very soon, as Blocked Party's Top 3 Weekend featuring live BP, Not Even a Show, and Go Off Kings comes to Vancouver this fall. More details to come! Malik Elassal is a comedian who promises to start doing the stand-up videos with the little captions very soon, and you can follow him on Twitter and Instagram at @malikelassal. Mon, 11 Jul 2022 - 201 - Episode 189: Jesse Thorn v. Merrill Markoe
Jesse Thorn (Jordan, Jesse, Go!, Bullseye) joins the show with a very original Block Tale, a first in show history, as he gets blocked by the former head writer of The Late Show with David Letterman for making her sit in traffic. It's a true California Block Tale and in true California fashion, we spend a great deal of the show talking about frozen treats, from Jesse's high-end home ice machine to the best selections to come from the ice cream truck. John also gets roasted for a horrendous analogy, Stefan bucks the trend by being the one to talk about nu-metal with the Alien Ant Farm discourse, and we learn about scromiting. Plus, dogs on roofs, Paul F. Tompkins, and Antiques Roadshow. Jesse Thorn is a podcaster who is the founder of Maximum Fun and can be heard on "Jordan, Jesse, Go!" and "Judge John Hodgman" on a weekly basis. You can also hear his show, "Bullseye", on NPR. You can follow him on Twitter at @jessethorn. Rest in Peace to our dear friend Nick Nemeroff. We love you, pal. In lieu of flowers, the Nemeroff family has asked that you make a donation to Planned Parenthood, which was one of the last things Nick did before he passed. Learn more about your ad choices. Mon, 04 Jul 2022 - 200 - Episode 188: Ginny Hogan v. Blake Masters
Ginny Hogan (writer/comedian) returns to the show in the midst of her "eat pray love" journey, a 3-week trip to Vancouver Island that ended up with her being too bored. So lucky for us, she decided to head to Vancouver for some standup shows and a visit to BPHQ, as she joins us in-studio and we learn all about her trip, from teaching herself to drive on some of Canada's gnarliest highways to an upcoming wedding in Alaska. And that's not all, as the Jibbitz Challenge begins in earnest with a 3-D printed homemade Jibbitz that may prove to be the best one we get, to a "scrunchie" one that absolutely looks like a butthole. Plus, we chat about Lucky Charms, scheduled tweets, District Fair bake-offs, group chat fails, and Ginny gets blocked by Senate candidate/ghoul Blake Masters for an innocuous foul. If you want more innocuous content (that is also somewhat foul) then head on over to our Patreon at patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last week, our video bonus episode with Dan O'Sullivan went live as we introduced him to some awful Dragon's Den and Bar Rescue content, and we go back to the awful well this week as Ben Flores returns for a Canadian Education episode about "Open Mike" with Mike Bullard. Plus we've got some special stuff coming up you won't wanna miss! Ginny Hogan is a writer whose new book, "I'm More Dateable Than a Plate of Refried Beans" is available wherever you get your books.
