    Gary Neville meets Eddie in his office at the Newcastle United training ground where the boss gives a fascinating insight into his tactics and playing-style which has brought so much success to his career.


    Regarded as one of the finest English managers of the past decade, Howe achieved the near impossible at AFC Bournemouth, taking the club from the bottom end of League 2 to the Premier League in the space of 8 years over two spells in charge.


    The former Cherries man talks about how he established his former side as a top-tier outfit before the toll of relegation, plus the lessons he has learnt along the way.


    Finally, after a stand-out first full season at St James’ Park where he guided the Magpies back to the Champions League and reached a cup final, Howe talks about the current campaign and his plan to establish Newcastle back in and amongst the elite English clubs.

    On this week’s episode on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Newcastle United and England winger Anthony Gordon.


    Gary Neville meets Gordon along Whitley Bay beach. He starts with the first part of quick-fire questions, where the Liverpudlian opens up about the importance of psychology and meditation on his game.


    Gordon made a huge decision to move to Newcastle from Everton in January 2022 and talks about life at St James Park under Eddie Howe, his ambitions and the club's goals as he enjoys his most prolific spell in professional football to date.


    With the upcoming Euros and having made his senior England debut in March’s international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, the 23-year-old will be looking to replicate last summer's achievements that saw him named player of the tournament as England lifted the under-21 European trophy.


    Lastly, Quick-Fire Questions resume where Gordon reveals his best goal, who he’d want to take a last-minute penalty to save his life and which former-teammate Gordon reminds Gary of in terms of self-confidence.

  • 62 - Schweinsteiger On United & Mourinho: "They Kicked Me Out.”

    On this week’s episode on the Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Bayern Munich legend and German World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger.


    We join Schweinsteiger in Munich, where he won eight Bundesliga’s, to reminisce on his impressive playing career, including his move to Manchester United where he was reunited with former coach Louis Van Gaal and how things took a turn for the worse under Jose Mourinho.


    The German international reveals what piece was missing in the puzzle of that 2016/17 Manchester United team, and which rivals they could have learnt from. Plus, would a move away from Old Trafford be best for former teammate Marcus Rashford?

  • 61 - Trent Alexander-Arnold: "I Owe Everything To Klopp."

    On this week’s episode on the Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Liverpool and England star Trent Alexander-Arnold.


    We join Trent as he returns from injury in the closing stages of the 23/24 season that has already seen Liverpool win the League Cup and in contention to win the Premier League and Europa League in Jurgen Klopp’s final season.


    The boyhood Liverpool star reveals what the dressing room was like when Klopp announced his departure, the influence the German boss has had on his career and how much a title would mean to him, the club and city.


    At just 25 years-old Trent has established himself as one of the world’s best players and has won every major trophy he’s competed in and following a disappointing 22/23 season he tells how his mindset changed over the summer through the help of a psychologist. 


    Trent also takes on Gary at darts whilst answering quick-fire questions before finally talking about his After Academy, a charity he set up to help academy footballers who didn’t make it to the professional game.
