- 87 - How many Manchester United players get in the Arsenal team?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for another Weekend Preview!
In the latest episode, Ian and Chris begin by reflecting on Real Madrid's dramatic Champions League semi-final win over Bayern Munich. No trophy for Harry Kane this season - is he cursed?
The lads also look ahead to a huge game in the Premier League between Manchester United and Arsenal. The gunners need to win to maintain the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table. It feels like this could be the final hurdle of their title ambitions, but is it even a hurdle?
David Moyes is leaving West Ham at the end of the season. Chris asks whether he has been disrespected by the Hammers.
And in the Scottish Premiership, it's set up for one of the biggest Old Firm derbies in years. If Celtic win they'll be having a celebratory Player of the Season award ceremony later on that evening; if they lose, it'll be a much more gloomy affair. Either way, Chris is going!

Tue, 07 May 2024 - 19min - 85 - Is Darwin Nunez eyeing the Anfield exit?
Welcome to another instalment of 'It's All Kicking Off!' beaming to you this Bank Holiday Monday.
In this episode, we start by questioning whether the jury is out on Ange Postecoglou - whose Tottenham side have now lost four consecutive games. Chris defends the former Celtic manager, though, suggesting that Spurs have been a victim of their huge overachievement at the beginning of the season. Plus, we question whether James Maddison will board the plane to Germany having struggled to emulate his form before picking up an injury.
The lads analyse Darwin Nunez's cryptic social media behaviour after the Uruguayan deleted a series of Liverpool photos after he came off the bench to little affect in the win over Spurs. What do you reckon, does this spell the end for 'Darling' Darwin?
Next up, a feisty debate between the pair who question whether Kai Havertz should have been awarded a penalty after tumbling in the box v Bournemouth.
AND we respond to Emma Hayes' bash of the media after Chelsea's 8-0 win over Bristol City.

Mon, 06 May 2024 - 48min - 84 - Who are the top 5 Premier League players this season?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for its Weekend Preview edition!
In the latest episode, Ian and Chris begin by dissecting Jude Bellingham's Allianz antics, where he seemingly attempted to put off his England captain, Harry Kane, before the Bayern man took a vital Champions League penalty. What do you reckon? Do you admire this attempt to distract someone to gain advantage for their team... or do you prefer sportsmanship in the biggest moments?
Ian questions whether Nottingham Forest will relish the opportunity to play already-relegated Sheffield United, with Forest's top-flight status hanging in the balance, as Chris says he sees this as the perfect game for the side.
The lads give their top 5 Premier League players of the season so far... with some interesting calls offered up by them both.
AND we offer praise for Kai Havertz - the Arsenal man was doubted by many but has emphatically turned at a corner at the Emirates, proving his worth time after time in the second half of the season.

Thu, 02 May 2024 - 27min - 83 - Does Mo Salah regret NOT leaving Liverpool?
'It's All Kicking Off!' (aka your favourite football podcast) returns for its Monday edition.
First up, Ian and Chris question whether Pep Guardiola was talking nonsense when claiming that the dryness of the pitch at the City Ground impacted Chris Wood's ability to put the ball in the back of the net, as his Manchester City side survived a few scares vs Nottingham Forest.
We then talk all things North London Derby: how Arsenal have learnt from their errors last season, whether Spurs are up for the fight and why Ben White played with Guglielmo Vicario's gloves right before the Gunners took a decisive corner.
The lads question whether Mo Salah risks tarnishing his Liverpool legacy after having a touchline spat with manager Jurgen Klopp, and ask themselves whether the Egyptian is frustrated after another nearly season on Merseyside.
AND we question whether Newcastle should embrace the chance to sell their stars and follow the lead set by Aston Villa, a side regenerated by the cash raised by Jack Grealish's exit.

Mon, 29 Apr 2024 - 47min - 82 - 'He's reaching De Bruyne levels' Is Martin Odegaard amongst the Premier League elite?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for its Weekend Preview show.
First on the agenda is Liverpool's trip to West Ham. The Reds have seen their title hopes shatter in recent weeks, losing to both Crystal Palace and - most recently - neighbours, Everton. Chris and Ian reckon Darwin Nunez' performance at Goodison Park summed up his season, letting favourable opportunities pass him by once more. Will Jurgen Klopp's side finish with on a high, with only 4 games left of his iconic tenure.
The North London Derby is next up, with both Arsenal and Tottenham still fighting until the death to secure both the title and a top four place, respectively. While Liverpool have struggled to pick themselves up after slipping in the race, Arsenal have powered on and catapulted themselves back into contention. Can Spurs torpedo the Gunners' title charge once and for all?
Finally, we turn our attention to Nottingham Forest v Manchester City. The noisy social media club versus the noisy neighbours… as we wait to see if Forest will be galvanised by the decisions, they feel harshly went against them.

Mon, 22 Apr 2024 - 46min - 79 - Can 'exhausted' City overcome 'egotistical' Chelsea in FA Cup showdown?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for its Weekend Preview edition.
This week, we start off by reflecting on the key talking points surrounding Manchester City and Chelsea, in the context of their FA Cup showdown at Wembley. Ian questions why it seems to be okay for managers to complain about fatigue, but players can’t, after City crashed out of the Champions League, while Chris voices his outrage at Chelsea's youngsters for squabbling over a somewhat meaningless penalty.
The lads look ahead to Manchester United's clash with Coventry City, where Ian reckons a goal from The Sky Blues would cause 'panic' amongst United's players. Would a win for Eric ten Hag's side be enough for the manager to keep his job? Let us know in the poll on Spotify.
Another team whose European dream came to an end this week is Arsenal, who face a couple of key games before City next feature. Wolves away is up next, but some of the Gunners faithful are starting to lose patience with one or two of their stars. Does Oleksandr Zinchenko deserve to be scapegoated, or should fans place more faith in those that have helped them get to where they are?

Thu, 18 Apr 2024 - 29min - 78 - OFFICIAL: Man City win the Premier League again!
'It's All Kicking Off!' is back once again for its Monday instalment.
In this episode, we reflect on defeats for both Arsenal and Liverpool, which have put Manchester City firmly in the driving seat for yet another Premier League title. Is there any way back for the - now - chasing pack, or will Pep Guardiola's side create history by winning four successive titles?
The lads discuss a truly mad Championship season where the title-hopefuls continue to trip themselves up with the finish line in sight.
We praise Bayer Leverkusen for claiming their first ever German title, with Xabi Alonso's side inflicting yet more trophy pain on Bayern Munich's Harry Kane. Will the England skipper actually regret the move as our hosts jokingly suggested he might at the beginning of the season.
Chris and Ian bicker over whether Ross County's victory over Rangers in the SPFL is akin to Manchester City losing to Nottingham Forest or Coventry.
AND Chris reveals, once and for all, just how many cathedrals there are in Norwich.

Mon, 15 Apr 2024 - 45min - 77 - Phil Foden a shoo-in for POTY?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for its Weekend Preview edition.
We start off by discussing Bukayo Saka's alleged dive versus Bayern Munich, questioning whether Arsenal's 'Starboy' will learn from his error and wondering whether fans would accept players from their side bending the rules if it meant they won the game.
The Gunners welcome Unai Emery's Aston Villa to the Emirates this Sunday, with the Spaniard making his Premier League return to the stadium he once called home. The lads question whether Emery is still the victim of his short stint in north London and discuss the challenges managers face when shaking off negative perceptions.
Ian and Chris have their say on the Premier League's player of the season, with Manchester City players inevitably in the conversation. Ian previously backed Kyle Walker for this particular accolade - does our host stand firm or has he reversed on this? City host Luton this weekend with Rob Edwards' side running out of games to maintain their Premier League status...
AND the pair question whether the quality at the bottom of the Premier League is strong enough, and if 40 points is still enough to keep teams in the league.

Thu, 11 Apr 2024 - 33min - 76 - Man United dent Liverpool's title challenge
Ian and Chris return to review the weekend of Premier League football and beyond…
First up is that epic Manchester United vs Liverpool draw. With no wins in 3 games against the Red Devils, we ask if Liverpool have a mental block against their struggling rivals.
With Liverpool dropping points, Arsenal move to the top of the league on goal difference, with the Gunners fresh off a 3-0 away win in Brighton. Chris picks out the Gabriel and Saliba centreback partnership for praise - could they go down in history as all-time greats?
The race for top 4 saw Spurs surge ahead of Aston Villa, but why does Ange Postecoglu maintain that he doesn’t care about his side's place in the table? Chris and Ian debate whether it's the right approach.
And finally, Sunday saw an Old Firm derby for the ages, finishing 3-3 with late goals from both sides. Off the pitch though, Ian bemoans the banning of away fans for recent matchups between the Scottish heavyweights.

Mon, 08 Apr 2024 - 51min - 75 - 'He's got the eye of the tiger!' Is a farewell title Klopp's destiny?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for its Weekend Preview show...
With Ian Ladyman (once again) on holiday, Merseyside expert, Dominic King, steps into the hot-seat alongside Chris Sutton. First up this week it's Jurgen Klopp's final trip to Old Trafford as Liverpool boss. Dom explains the mindset of the man heading into yet another nail-biting run-in, and recounts a story which includes the Liverpool boss, sharing a pint with Steven Gerrard during a dog walk just days before a crunch fixture.
Can Manchester United repeat the feat which saw them knock their rivals out of the FA Cup? Well, Dom and Chris don't seem to think so...
Switching over to the bottom half of the table now and we look ahead to Everton vs Burnley. Do Everton have enough in the locker to get over the line or will Burnley complete an almighty great escape with the games rapidly running out?
Next up and we preview two derbies OUTSIDE of the Premier League...
Norwich v Ipswich is first on the agenda, as Dom and Chris discuss the significance of this particular Old Farm Derby, with both East Anglia clubs pushing for promotion. Can Norwich dampen their rivals' title-dreams, or will the Tractor Boys springboard their push for the Premier League in their enemy's back garden?
FINALLY, we discuss the Old Firm. Rangers have shown real signs of improvement under Philipe Clement, but Celtic won't give up yet another title without a fight...

Thu, 04 Apr 2024 - 28min - 74 - Have Arsenal FINALLY grown up?
Welcome back to 'It's All Kicking Off!' - your one-stop shop for all things football! (Apologies that this instalment is late, IAKO HQ ran into some technical difficulties this bank holiday Monday)
In the latest episode we start by discussing the borefest which was Manchester City vs Arsenal as Ian suggests that the Gunners have finally grown up, almost a year to the day since they showed their inexperience in a 4-1 Etihad drubbing. The pair analyse Roy Keane's brutal Erling Haaland analysis, describing the record-shattering striker as 'League 2' quality with regards to his all-round play and they question why Pep Guardiola gave Jack Grealish some animated on-the-field coaching after the final whistle.
Moving on to their title-rivals and Chris suggests that it's Liverpool who will be most delighted by the outcome, while Ian reckons they still have work to do with several tricky away games still on the horizon. What do you reckon? With the three giants still in the equation... who blinks first?
The pair question if Roberto De Zerbi has one eye on the exit AMEX exit door, following a series of open-ended answers to questions regarding his future... with Chris reckoning that Brighton fans may well feel aggrieved by the way he handled the situation.
We question whether there is yet life in the relegation battle with Brighton sitting 4 points from safety and with some favourable fixtures still to play.
AND we find out the best EVER April Fool's gags in football?

Mon, 01 Apr 2024 - 49min - 73 - Can Arsenal steal a win at City?
On our weekend preview show, a title clash takes top billing, with Arsenal heading to Man City. Will the potential injuries to Walker, Ederson, Stones and Akanji move the needle in Arsenal's favour?
Elsewhere Nottingham Forest are newly in the relegation zone after their points deduction. They face Crystal Palace hoping to immediately break clear of it. But off the pitch, Forest assistant manager Steven Reid has been fined for comments made to the referee after their controversial last-minute loss to Liverpool. Ian and Chris take a look at those comments and ask how Reid has got away with them so lightly.
Chelsea welcome Burnley to Stamford Bridge, a game with several subplots. Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku impressed in internationals midweek, highlighting the centre forward gap at Chelsea. Meanwhile injury to Sam Johnstone has opened up a goalkeeper spot in the England camp - but should Burnley man James Trafford be the one to take it?
And finally, Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield, in what could be an audition for Roberto De Zerbi, with a vacant manager position at Liverpool this summer...

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 - 27min - 72 - Was England's loss to Brazil actually a good thing?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for the Monday instalment of your favourite football podcast.
This week, Ian and Chris start with a post-mortem of England's 1-0 loss to Brazil. Ian takes the view that it actually might be a goodthing - Chris disagrees.
Next it's a review of Wales and Scotland's international fortunes. Wales are only one playoff win away from Euro 2024 qualification, but should they even be in with a shout after both a terrible qualifying and Nations League campaign? Scotland meanwhile have lost 6 on the bounce.
And finally, Jay Bothroyd joins the podcast after he revealed this week that he hid his epilepsy for his entire playing career. We hear about how it impacted his career and why he's now decided to speak out.

Mon, 25 Mar 2024 - 49min - 71 - 'That's NOT the flag of St George!' What were Nike thinking?
This week on 'It's All Kicking Off!', we're talking all things England, as preparations for Euro 2024 get firmly underway.
We take on numerous pressing questions in this week's Weekend Preview edition. Can the Three Lions finally bring some silverware? Is the current crop of stars better than the famed golden-generation? Does Gareth Southgate deserve more respect?
The lads question whether the Brazil side at Wembley will be a far-cry from the icons of the past...not least because of their attire on the nihght.
Speaking of clothing, we discuss the controversial new England kit. Ian questions why a purple kit's been manufactured for the tournament as opposed to the traditional colours, and voices his frustration at the small fortune needed to purchase said trailblazing shirt.
AND we tackle the row over Nike's decision to add numerous colours to the traditionally red flag of St George. Will this symbol 'unite and inspire' the country, or is this decision a load of nonsense and an unnecessary distraction for the FA and Gareth Southgate ahead of the summer?

Thu, 21 Mar 2024 - 29min - 70 - Have United derailed Liverpool's season?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for the Monday instalment of your favourite football podcast.
This week, Ian and Chris start off by dissecting Manchester United's dramatic last-minute winner against arch rivals Liverpool, suggesting that - while Erik ten Hag's days may be numbered - the United gaffer will always have the memories of this weekend to look back on. Meanwhile, Ian argues that Liverpool lacked the sort of killer instinct Manchester City would have had in a game like this.
Next up, we break down 'O'Neil vs Robins' as last-gasp celebrations spilled over with the Wolves manager brandishing his Coventry counterparts' behaviour as 'disgusting'...should ball-boys be accountable for their actions or should coaches keep their emotions under control when dealing with youngsters?
With England set for Euro 2024 warmup matches during the international break, Ian and Chris reflect on Ben White's decision to turn down approaches from Gareth Southgate and debate whether the Arsenal defender will rue his decision in the months to come...
AND we analyse (complain about) the excruciating length of the VAR check at the London Stadium, which saw West Ham and Aston Villa fans left in the lurch for over 5 minutes.

Mon, 18 Mar 2024 - 46min - 69 - Why Scottish football should be better than 'embarrassing' Warnock saga
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns for its Weekend Preview edition.
Our attention turns to the FA Cup this time around with Manchester United versus Liverpool being the stand-out fixture. Ian suggests Jurgen Klopp's side could become unstuck by United, while Chris suggests that, while a win against Liverpool could paper over the cracks, the damage has already been done for Erik ten Hag. Nothing can save him.
From one manager under pressure, to another...the lads discuss Newcastle's trip to the Etihad as Eddie Howe aims to steady the ship during a turbulent season on Tyneside, posing the question as to whether he will still be at the helm by the time the new season rolls around.
AND we analyse what on earth happened at Aberdeen as Neil Warnock waves goodbye to the northeast of Scotland. Does his appointment reflect poorly on Scottish football? Is the rest of the country sniggering at this high-profile failure?

Thu, 14 Mar 2024 - 25min - 68 - Why Jurgen Klopp is irreplaceable
'It's All Kicking Off!' is back for its latest instalment.
This week, the lads start by breaking down Liverpool vs Manchester City. They question whether it is an impossible task to replacesomeone of Jurgen Klopp's stature, debate whether the next manager will be eaten alive and marvel at how Anfield revels at the never-say-die team he's created. Ian and Chris also break down whether Liverpool should have been offered a penalty in the dying seconds of the enthralling clash.
Title-rivals, Arsenal, are also in the spotlight. Beating Brentford in dramatic fashion and continuing their perfect league start to 2024, Ian questions whether we are entering a golden period for English football. Oh, and Chris gives his take on whether Saturday's hero, Kai Havertz should have been on the pitch to score the winner...
Meanwhile, Ian takes on this week's '5 aside' - putting forward his list for the top 5 divers of all time.
AND Chris dishes the dirt on his favourite birthday presents (wish him a Happy Birthday in the comments!)

Mon, 11 Mar 2024 - 52min - 67 - Pep vs Klopp: The end of an era
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns to your ears for its Weekend Preview instalment.
This week, Ian and Chris start by....well, talking about World Book Day. But after that, all eyes are on Liverpool v Manchester City, as two of the title-chasers go head-to-head, with Jurgen Klopp waving goodbye to the rivalry that’s defined his tenure on Merseyside.
Next up on the show is the clash between Arsenal and Brentford. Under the lights, with the chance to go top, the Gunners have the chance to seize the day and stamp their authority on the title-race. All eyes will once again be on Aaron Ramsdale, Mikel Arteta's forgotten man, who's set to start in the league for the first time since November.
Fresh from their drubbing at the hands of the Gunners, Sheffield United are back in action, this time against Bournemouth. Can Chris Wilder pick his side back up? Do they have any hope of staying in the top-flight?
Finally, Aston Villa will meet Spurs on Sunday, looking to make it four straight wins versus the north London outfit. Ollie Watkins is the topic of conversation here, with Ian suggesting England FINALLY have an able deputy to Harry Kane.

Thu, 07 Mar 2024 - 33min - 66 - Why the Manchester Derby is like an F1 procession
Welcome to the latest instalment of 'It's All Kicking Off!'
This week...Ian flies out of the traps, asking Chris whether Erik ten Hag is 'deluded' for suggesting that United could have won the Manchester Derby. The pair debate whether Marcus Rashford did enough to silence his critics and suggest that the competitive nature of the clash has gone out the window, with it being likened to an F1 procession.
Also on the derby, Chris takes on this week's 5 aside... revealing his list of the top 5 worst ever misses after Erling Haaland's sitter.
Outside of Manchester, we talk about Nottingham Forest v Liverpool, a dramatic win for the Reds, marred by Paul Tierney's controversial refereeing towards the end. Chris, however, has little sympathy for the incensed Forest fans and explains why they have no right to moan...
AND...we go north of the border to analyse an eventful weekend in Scotland, with both Rangers and Celtic losing key games in the title-race - posing questions among some regarding the objectivity of referees...

Mon, 04 Mar 2024 - 49min - 65 - Why Bruno Fernandes would NOT get in the Man City team

A - Remarkably, the 'It's All Kicking Off!' Podcast
Yes, back once again to tackle all the biggest questions in football (and some of the daftest outside of it) are Ian and Chris for another Weekend Preview show.
In the latest episode, the lads begin by discussing the merits of Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, questioning whether the criticism he gets is harsh, before debating whether he's good enough for the Manchester City team...if only on the bench.
The pair consider whether they prefer players to be outwardly confident or modest in the wake of Kevin de Bruyne's recent comments, where his impressive return from injury had surprised even himself!
AND Chris gets uppity about Ian daring to suggest that Ange Postecoglou's first season at Spurs may not end quite as triumphantly as one had first imagined.

Thu, 29 Feb 2024 - 28min - 64 - Klopp's kids show courage as Chelsea choke at the death
Ian and Chris are reunited for the latest instalment of 'It's All Kicking Off!'
Fresh from Liverpool's victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final, the lads pay tribute to the guts and courage shown by the Reds' youngsters during that extra time period, while we question whether the billion pound Blues were gutless to play for pens.
Ian criticises Sir Jim Ratcliffe for suggesting that handouts may be the best way for Manchester to play home to a 'Wembley of the North', instead saying that if the billionaire wants a brand-spanking new stadium...he ought to buy it and build it himself.
AND amidst the minor bust-up between two Sheffield United players over the weekend, Chris explains some of the dressing room fallings out he saw, as Ian recalls a clash he had with another journalist...in the Nou Camp.

Mon, 26 Feb 2024 - 55min - 63 - 'The League Cup final is like a World Cup final for Poch!'
Dominic King and Chris Sutton return to your ears for the latest episode of 'It's All Kicking Off!'
We start off by discussing the League Cup final at Wembley, with Chris claiming that the magnitude of the game can be likened to that of the World Cup final for Mauricio Pochettino. Posing the question, is the Argentine still firmly under the microscope at Chelsea, despite a strong run of results?
The lads suggest Mikel Arteta may not fully trust his squad, having only brought on one sub in the defeat to Porto and making fewer starting XI changes this season than both Liverpool and Manchester City. Will this hesitation to freshen things up impact Arsenal's run-in...both domestically and on the European stage?
AND Dom claims Xabi Alonso will choose with his head over his heart this summer, as Liverpool and Bayern Munich look set to go toe-to-toe for the Spaniard.

Thu, 22 Feb 2024 - 25min - 62 - Fluke or finesse? Where do YOU stand on Hojlund's goal?
'It's All Kicking Off!' returns, with Dominic King stepping in to fill the void left by our regular host, Ian Ladyman, who's probably skiing down an Italian mountain at time of writing.
We discuss whether Rasmus Hojlund's winner versus Luton was intentional, or a slice of luck for a man with a golden touch at the moment, and we debate whether sporting directors are the new rockstars of football, as Dan Ashworth tells Newcastle he wants to join United.
The lads dissect the title race and Dom explains why he thinks Liverpool will finish second despite them being his third favourites for the title.... (Ian, when do you get back?) and Chris says he would have never attempted the finish Darwin Nunez finished expertly versus Brentford.
AND Chris explains why he turned down the chance to join Liverpool.

Thu, 15 Feb 2024 - 28min - 60 - Why David Moyes should LEAVE West Ham
Ian and Chris return to dissect the latest news in the world of football...but this edition's been recorded from the comfort of their own homes, due to the hectic lives our hosts live (and the netball tournaments that have to attend)
We start by analysing West Ham's mauling at the hands of Arsenal, questioning whether Declan Rice has taken onboard advice from the wider public, muting his joy, so as not to alert the celebration police.
Meanwhile, Ian suggests David Moyes should leave the Hammers on his own accord this summer with his head held high, as discussion over his future continues to rumble on.
Dominic King returns to the show to give the lowdown on Harry Kane, Bayer Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso as the German champions stumbled in their top of the table clash...posing the question as to whether Harry Kane has dropped a career clanger in moving to Bayern.

Mon, 12 Feb 2024 - 51min - 59 - Is Erik ten Hag 'on trial' as Manchester United manager?
Is Belize a country? What 'sledging' did Chris get up to on the pitch? Who's unplugged Ian's mic?
The answer to most of these questions will be revealed in the latest episode of 'It's All Kicking Off!' as Ian and Chris preview the biggest games of the weekend.
First on the agenda is Aston Villa versus Manchester United, where Chris suggests that Erik ten Hag is still on trial as Manchester United manager, despite a recent upturn in form.

Thu, 08 Feb 2024 - 30min - 58 - Is Arteta in control of his theatrics?
It's time to celebrate as 'It's All Kicking Off!' is back! Actually...saying that, probably safer to show your delight by sitting quietly and showing no emotion whatsoever.

The lads discuss Chelsea's latest defeat and question whether Mauricio Pochettino staying at the helm is the best move for the club, looking to end their two-year rot.
We ask ourselves whether you can really be a true fan if you leave the ground early.
AND Ian lets out his immense frustration at having to pay a service charge whilst sat in a restaurant!
