Want an exclusive get started episode? Go here - wovenenergy.com/start-hereSat, 06 May 2017 - 72 - The Bedrock of Shamanism - Understanding Chalicity and its importance in Real Shamanic Technique
Pursuing real, practical shamanism is NOT easy.
Navigating through the nonsense. The mystical. The delusion. The incoherence with reality is like wading through a swamp, uphill, in the fog.
Has it ever felt like shamanism is a fascinating subject? One that calls to you?
But when you look into it,, you read some books, you join a few groups... something doesn't feel right? Something doesn't sit with you and what you know to be real.
There is a disconnect there and you don't know what it is.
The truth is, shamanism is not nice. Its not mystical in the slightest and there is no room for imagination or belief. It requires discipline, dedication and true experience rooted in reality.
This is hard path to follow!
So it's not hard to understand why there is so much bullsh*t surrounding Shamanism. Its easy to fall into the imagination trap. To take drugs and think you are performing shamanic technique. To imagine floating to the upperworld on a unicorn, falling down a hole to the underworld. Or even, having a chat with the animal spirits.
All these things play right into the hands of those who want to believe. Those that sincerely fall right into the imagination trap.
You wouldn't buy a piano, play a few scales and believe you are a concert pianist right?
Don't be like everybody else...
Start learning shamanism the right way
The foundation of shamanism is Chalicity. You could call it stage 1 if you like, but achieving Chalicity will ensure your shamanism is real. That it means something.
It's what will separate you from the navel gazers and the believers in magic and unicorns. Good Chalicity will expose the falseness. It will open you up to reality and experience.
Before you listen to the episode, a quick recap on the three components of chalicity.
Bhatt - The discipline, the strength. The eyes of the eagle.
Tor-Shil-Teen - Be playful. Retain the child-like qualities of experimentation
Gookharch - The results of the hard work. The experience.
This episode takes a closer look at the importance of chalicity.
In short. How chalicity is your bedrock that all your future shamanic technique will rest on.Sat, 25 Mar 2017 - 71 - Episode 18 - Continuing Stage 2 of Learning Shamanism with our Second Practical Technique (Delgekh)
Delgekh is a powerful shamanic technique that is like a powerful wave, providing insights into the world of energy.
Sat, 18 Mar 2017 - 70 - Episode 17 - Introducing the Shaman's Drum and our First Technique (Bohkhgeen Hengreg)
This week we introduce the our first "real" shamanic technique, Boekhgeen Khengreg. This technique uses a drum, so we also go into some of the background to drum use in Shamanism in general, including how to hold the drum in the Havtas position.

In this episode we provide a gentle lead into the second major stage of learning Shamanism, Amsgar. This is preparation for the introduction of the first real shamanistic technique (rather than exercise), which will be introduced in the next episode.
Fri, 03 Mar 2017 - 68 - Episode 15 - How to Overcome the Miasma and Pursue Real Shamanism (The Miasma Part 3)
In the last of our series of three episodes on the Miasma, we look at ways in which shamans use the chalicity techniques to overcome or mitigate the Miasma. The purpose of this mitigation is to allow shamanic technique to be firmly grounded in reality.
Fri, 24 Feb 2017 - 67 - Episode 14 - Reality Driven Shamanism vs. Religion and Culture (The Miasma Part 2)
Continuing our look at the Miasma, in this episode we discuss its traits and characteristics, and its role in hindering the progress of the shaman.
Fri, 17 Feb 2017 - 66 - Episode 13 - The Effects of the Miasma on Real Shamanism (The Miasma Part 1)
So we want to learn shamanism. Shamanic technique.
We want to make sure our shamanism is real and not delusional.
We want to make sure the knowledge, the understanding, we gain through shamanic technique comes into us from outside. From nature. And not from within us.
So why are we dedicating the next few episodes to what we call 'the miasma'?
Well the miasma plays a huge part in diluting our connection to nature. It's a veil. A haze which sits in front of us obscuring truth and convincing us of falseness.
It's a tool which can be used to leverage control over people. Its effects have tremendous ripples on all of our lives as civilised human beings.
"The miasma is a falseness which comes to sit between you and the natural world" - Damon Smith
The concept of the miasma is built into the societies of more animistic peoples. In fact, they have words, many words which describe the different effects of the miasma on us.
In Mongol we have 'Teeren'
In Japanese we have 'Ashiki'
In Siberian we have 'Uha' and 'Ehru'
In Aboriginal we have 'Ilhwa'
In Manchu we have 'Ehe'
The list goes on and on and on.
It's just that English, the language of a settled and civilized people is a bad language for describing shamanism. Or trying to convey a shamanistic/animistic understanding of the world.
Why is this important for learning shamanism
We have to be aware of its effects on us.
Shamanism at its very foundation are a set of techniques used to derive knowledge and understanding directly from nature.
Think of the miasma as a huge mist which hangs in front of you stifling this knowledge. Obscuring it and diluting it. Infecting our perceptions of nature and to the outside world. Colouring our imaginations.
In short, we need to know if our knowledge, our feedback is coming from nature or from the miasma.
The next three episodes are dedicated to the concept of the miasma. The science behind it. How its been used to influence whole cultures and societies.
This is a fascinating and deep look at what underlies the fabric of our civilisation. Its side effects and ultimately our own participation in the destruction of shamanism.
Listeners to this podcast will know our position of the use of psychoactive substances. They are a tool. They require a lot of discipline and experience in shamanic technique without them first.
There is no greater fuel for the miasma than an inexperienced person with a very active imagination taking psychoactive drugs.
Included in this episode is a look at how psychoactive substances work and affect the brain. Its a great look at the how and why behind the use of drugs and genuine shamanic technique.Fri, 10 Feb 2017 - 65 - Episode 12 - A look at the INCREDIBLE lives and shamanism of the Evenki people
This week i am so excited to bring you another episode on the topic on animism.
We explore none other than the Evenki people of northern Asia. They are a facsinating look at Animism in play.
So we take a lot of the topics we talked about last episode and look at how it applies to the Evenki people.
"Everything you hear about shamanism, well... The Evenks have it in abundance" - Damon Smith
There is a lot in this episode specifically on the Evenks and their Shamanism aswell.
Animistic peoples are mistreated to the extreme. The Evenks had to endure tremendous hardships at the hands of invaders. Its especially interesting to see how cunning the Evenks were in evading the Christian forces for as long as possible.
All of this and more is covered in this weeks episode of the Woven Energy podcast on Shamanism

How Animism moves from being a hook into the natural world towards faith and belief
Hierarchy and what this means in animistic societiesFri, 03 Feb 2017 - 64 - Episode 11 - Animism and our hook into the natural world
Let me guess...
You've read or heard a little bit about Animism.
And there is something about what you've read that doesn't quite sit with you.
For me... The concept of Animism never made sense. I have a hard time accepting anything that requires me to believe something that, on the surface, is complete nonsense.
Maybe you've read that Animism is 'The belief that spirits inhabit rocks and trees etc.'
Or even worse... 'the belief in a supernatural power that organizes and animates the material universe.'
Does this mean it is a religion?
After all, thats what google says... right?
"Animism is only a belief system to people who think belief systems are important" - Damon Smith
What is Animism?
Imagine you are a anthropologist. You approach animist societies wanting to find out what they believe. You make the assumption that Animism societies have beliefs to begin with.
We have beliefs so why shouldn't they?
In fact we place so much emphasis on our beliefs and our belief systems that perhaps... We view other cultures and societies through the lenses of our own cultural baggage.
And here lies the problem.
A fundamental problem in trying to understand what Animism is. Or rather, the natural, 'no belief necessary' explanation of what Animism is.
Its not that Animist societies believe in this crazy 'animism' thing. Its that on a fundamental level, we asked the wrong questions due to our cultural biases.
All this is covered in the episode.
Things covered in this episode
A good look at animistic societies
The three main activities of animists
How animist societies moved towards pastoral and agricultural societies
The effects of religion on animism and why spreading faith and belief among the people kept the powers that be at the top.
We also discuss what Animism actually is.
What it represents as a real phenomena in the real world. You will not need to believe anything and you certainly won't need to have faith.
Its a real thing... a tangible thing that's the same thing wherever you find it.
Listen to the episode to find out exactly what Animism is.
At the end of the episode, I ask Damon for one simple piece of solid advice. Advice he could give to people just venturing into the world of Shamanism and Animism so you don't mess up.
His response is quite simple... profound so stick around to hear it.Fri, 27 Jan 2017 - 63 - Episode 10 - The origins of Shamanism and the domestication of the dog
This week we take a step back from the practical stuff and look at a few concepts rarely talked about in Shamanism.
Where did Shamanism come from?
Why do we have Shamanism in the first place?
What does it mean to be the wild animals we once were?
Shamanism and Animism were absolutely essential for survival. Without them, we would not be here.
Shamanism protected the group as a whole, Animism protected us on an individual level.
In this episode we explore the relationship between shamanism and evolution. The origins of primates and shamanism's role when we came down from the trees.
We take a look at human evolution and the origins of canids.
The most intriguing part of the episode is a closer look at the relationship between us and dogs. The domestication of the dog and perhaps... the dogs domestication of us?

The first stage of learning Shamanism. The foundation. The supporting pillar.
We call it Chalicity. Mongolian Shamans call it 'Bak Tam Stay Saub'
Your absolute protection against "The Miasma" (Social Conditioning)
Its about learning discipline and developing your hook into the natural world.
You need to be sure that your Shamanism is real or you will end up falling into the trap that 90% of people fall into when learning Shamanism.
The second component of Chalicity
In episode 7 we revealed the first component of Chalicity. Bhatt. If you haven't listened to this episode yet, you can listen right here.
In this episode we discuss Bhatt a little bit more and then move onto the second component of chalicity. Tor-Shil-Teel.
Whilst Bhatt is about learning discipline, tor-shil-teen is about retaining those child-like, playful characteristics. That experimental quality children have (and wild animals) to the outside world.
Its about gaining that feedback from the natural world, and importantly, learning from it.
It's so important to test and gain feedback from reality. We need to recognize and dismiss 'learned' behaviors that are detrimental to our Shamanism.
This episode has some practical exercises for you so be sure to have a listen.
