This week's episode is all about Marketing SaaS Companies. I'm joined by Adam O'Leary, co-founder of Trustscout, a video testimonial capture tool originally developed for agency white-label, eCommerce, and SMBs.
Testimonials are so important today, especially when there is so much choice in the market. These are really what sets you aside from the competition. But you shouldn't be afraid of negative reviews. This gives you a chance to understand what problems your customers are facing.
Adam would always try to get on the phone with someone who left a bad review and understand why the person felt that way. This is a great method of understanding their perspective and you talk them through further steps. This also allows you to make improvements from finding out these problems that people are having so you can make sure they don't reoccur.
We go on to speak about the two main aspects of a business being traffic and sales. As business owners, it's easy to get caught up with the tasks that don't move you forward. At the end of the day, there's nothing more important than how many people saw your message and how many people bought into it.

This week's episode is all about how to market e-commerce. I'm joined by Chloë Thomas, Author and host of both the Award-winning eCommerce MasterPlan Podcast and Keep Optimising Podcast. Having been in e-commerce since 2003, Chloë’s speciality is solving e-commerce Marketing Problems.
Stating an e-commerce business has never been easier than it is today. There are multiple systems (Squarespace, Shopify & Wix) that allow you to set up an e-commerce shop in a short period of time. But it's still not as easy as it may seem. There are a lot of things you need to consider in the early stages.
You shouldn't start an e-commerce business for the sake of it. In order to be successful, you have to start up because you have an amazing product idea, are identifying a problem you want to solve, or have a customer group that you will serve. It will be incredibly hard to start if you don't fall into one of these categories.
We go on to speak about the importance of having an initial research stage, as this will help you design your product and brand. Feedback is so important. You need to be getting your product or service informant of people and asking questions such as, would you buy it, their thoughts and cost. These opinions will help when it comes to marketing your brand as you will have a clear strategy.

This week's episode is all about social media. I'm joined by Gerard Murnaghan, General Manager & Vice President of Sprout Social, a business that offers a suite of social media solutions that supports organisations and agencies in extending their reach, amplifying their brands and creating real connections with their audiences.
Social media channels are now essential to a businesses digital profile. The pandemic has fuelled the online presence of businesses, causing everyone to adapt so they would be left behind.
We go on to speak about there being a lack of appreciation for how much effort that goes into it and the perception of finding the job done faster and at a cheaper price. Time is a key element when it comes to content creation as this gives you the opportunity to get creative.
Think outside the box and create authentic content that resonates with your audience. This is what will set you aside from your competitors generic content.
Your audience will know if you're not putting any effort into your social media. It will come across to them that you as a business don't care. When they get this impression they will be more likely to shop around.
If you really want to make it a success you should be putting as much attention, awareness, results and money as you can.

This week's episode is all about email marketing. I'm joined by Vira Sadlak, Account Manager at Flowium and Alissa Taggart, Client Services Director at Flowium.
Flowium is a Full-Service eCommerce Email Marketing Agency built to grow online retail revenue and connect clients to their customers. They are also the hosts of the Email Einstein podcast.
Email marketing isn't dead. Used effectively, it can be a huge tool that can drive revenue for your business. This is because it is your audience, of people who signed up because they wanted to hear more. Therefore you have direct communication and engagement with your email subscribers.
By using email marketing, you are able to get detailed, relevant information about your customers and then apply it to your strategy in a very substantial and impactful way. You are able to see the behaviour of your customers directly. From how they visit your website, to what they interact with, to which forms they've used, in order to give you more information.
In this episode we go on to speak about the real key basics that SMEs should be doing in order to get that process started and start collecting email addresses. We talk about how businesses can use email marketing effectively. Some great ways to do this are having an opt-in form at the very bottom of your website, a pop up on that website offering value to the visitor for in exchange for their email and last, but not least, post-purchase.

This week's episode is all about growing a community. I'm joined by Genecia Alluora, Founder of Soul Rich Woman, the #1 Leading Female Entrepreneur Network in South East Asia Connecting 200,000 Women Across The Region.
Growing a community is an essential part of any business today. Whether you're big or small, online or on the high street, your community are an integral part of your business. They're the ones that buy from you regular, that rave about you online and that support your business when you need it the most.
What does it take to grow a community? Well, that's where Genecia's experience really shines. Starting by working with the people you know, the people around you, and continuing to consistently show up. The expression "if you build it, they will come" should probably be updated for the digital marketing world to something like; "if you consistently build it, they will come".
We talk about the wealth of different experiences Genecia has had in the past, that all led her to be able to do what she does now. How she wants to empower women to come back to the workplace on their terms, to make sure they're living their best life.

This week's episode is all about marketing automation & AI. I'm joined by Andrew Stockwell, Chief Commercial Officer at RedEye, a business specialising in multi-channel marketing automation specifically designed for retailers, travel and financial, B2C lifecycle marketing.
Marketing Automation has developed a huge amount in recent years. There's now so much you can automate. With that being said, you want to start simple and don't try to automate every single task. It's important to think about your objective and what you want to achieve before doing so.
We speak about the tasks you can automate as an SME straight away such as a welcome campaign, basket abandonment campaigns and specialised messages through identifying key customer groups. These three marketing automation tasks will help you get ahead of your marketing.
Once you have marketing automation tasks in place you can see how they're performing and run tests. This will give you data that you can analyse. You now have a platform to start developing from where you can see what is working and what's not. From this, you can determine where you invest your time.

This week's episode is all about branding for businesses. I'm joined by Nadim Sadek, CEO of ProQuo AI, a business that is revolutionising brand management by offering real-time AI-powered guidance that arms brand managers with the tools they need to optimise campaigns and make decisions in real-time.
Everyone has a brand. This is what sets you aside from the crowd. You want to identify who your target audience is and make sure your values align with them. There will be a promise and a need to maintain this commitment, which is known as proof. By demonstrating empathy to your customer base, you are more likely to get traction.
We go on to speak about how we can use AI to help us achieve our business goals. Through analysis and action AI the ProQuo tool will give you solutions depending on your situation.

This week's episode is all about adding educational courses to your business. I'm joined by Molly Keyser, Founder of Profitable Courses, the business that's on a mission to help people turn their passion into an online course that's profitable from day 1. Molly now helps service-based business owners add a profitable online course to their business so they can scale without trading more of their time for dollars.
With more businesses moving online than ever before, you are missing out if you aren't online. By taking the knowledge you already know and moving this online into a digital product, you can leverage the power of being online to educate others who share the same passions.
We go on to speak about how you can find ideas on what you want to base your course on. Creating a list of all of the areas in which you are knowledgeable about, and have a passion for, will help you to get that visibility. Your story on how you have got to where you are is also a key driver as you will be able to teach through your experience.
Once you've got your ideas you need to research them. Have a look and see if your course idea already exists and is selling. This is very important because if you can see the idea's selling you know that yours can sell too. By beta testing, or as Molly would refer to, kick-starting, you can get a sense of what people are interested in and more importantly, if they are going to buy your course. This is selling it before it's created.

This week's episode is all about telling stories through video. I’m joined by Dan Bennett the Founder of 1 Minute Media, a company that empowers individuals to tell their stories with great video through coursework and private membership. He is also a digital media freelancer who offers direct consultation for companies, as well as having decades of experience in video production, video editing, motion graphics, sound design, graphic design and digital content development.
Having a story in your video is crucial. The story is the most important part and the video is the vehicle that takes that story where it's going. This is so important because from storytelling you will gain trust from your audience and have that human connection and relatability.
We speak about how you can use your smartphone and some inexpensive equipment to transform the way we capture video and take the quality to another level. You want to ensure that your video is steady, as this portrays professionalism, and you can do this by getting a cheap and very effective GorillaPod.
The next piece of equipment is equally as important and will really help to elevate you above everyone else's content who don't know about it. A directional mic that plugs straight into your smartphone will give you crisp clear audio so your viewers will be able to hear exactly what you're saying.

This week’s episode is all about content creation strategy. I’m joined by Ashley J. Saunders, founder of AJS Digital Group, a media company with over a decade of experience in digital marketing. AJ has also launched an eBook publishing company, a global e-commerce shop, and started the current brands in the AJS Digital Group’s portfolio.
We speak about the basic foundations for a good content creation strategy and some tips that people can start implementing right away. One simple idea is to think about the common questions that your customers ask you and then create content based on these questions. This could easily give you up to a year's worth of content. Think also about your business processes and the steps you take in delivering your product or service. Each step could be a piece of content too.
When creating content, it is important that you use a variety of media and not rely heavily on text. Your content shouldn't look like an essay for school, otherwise, readers will lose interest. A good way to mix this up is by using images and short videos.
It's important to be active, especially for those that haven't done tasks such as podcasting or blogging before. Those who are nervous about these activities should realize they will improve with time and practice. The key is consistency.

This week’s episode is all about Marketing Technology. I’m joined by Dan McGaw, CEO & Founder at McGaw.io and UTM.io. McGaw.io is a marketing technology and marketing analytics consulting company that works on building brands' marketing tech stack and analytics stack. UTM.io is a SaaS product that does campaign link management to ensure your analytics are clean and you are using the correct UTM. Dan also finds time to be a 500 Startups Mentor and previously started the first business accelerator in Orlando.
With the rapid development of technology over the past few years, we are seeing more innovative tools and technologies coming into marketing than ever before. This is great because that means we are able to automate and orchestrate as much as possible, saving us time to focus on what matters.
We go on to speak about some of the key tools for SMEs that are trying to improve their digital footprint and the challenges they might face when it comes to looking at marketing automation. Some of these tools can get pretty technical, pretty quickly, but there are ways you can get around this and get the most out of the tool.
Managing your expectations very early on and giving yourself a reasonable amount of time where you can research the tools that will help you to stay on track. Having this understanding of the tools and taking your time will have huge long term benefits. You should be constantly experimenting and playing with the tools to find out what is working and what's not. As long as you're consistent with it, you will see results.

This week’s episode is all about creating content with AI. I’m joined by Ryo Chiba, Co-Founder at Topic, an AI writing assistant that optimises your content to drive more organic traffic. Ryo has taken all his experience and knowledge and built Topic so that marketers could take advantage and create content in a scalable way that actually has a chance of ranking.
When creating content, SEO is a huge component to think about. It is a complicated process that is constantly evolving and involves a huge amount of research which most marketers don't end up doing. It should be thought of as a long term battle, there are no quick wins.
Some of the key points you should be focusing on in order to help your content rank and generate traffic are to compare your content with the top-ranked articles, identifying how competitive your keyword is, your ability to target that search intent and the amount of content you're able to create.
We go on to speak about how we can use Artificial intelligence (AI) to know what content to create. AI is integrated in many of the tools we use on a daily basis but we don't realise this. It helps to make sure you have a starting point when creating content, so as you're not just staring at a blank screen, it helps speeds up the workflow. The Topic tool helps massively with the content research and the brief creation aspect of your content creation.

This week’s episode is all about local business marketing. I’m joined by Neel Parekh, Founder & CEO at MaidThis Franchise, a business that helps homeowners and short-term rental hosts (Airbnb, VRBO, etc) with their cleanings. Neel is now on a mission to help others achieve running a fully remote local business.
Remote working has become more popular now than ever with businesses adapting to a more efficient way of working even in a local environment. As most businesses are now online, having an understanding of digital marketing is essential.
Knowing the basic marketing principles for SEO, email marketing, Google Adwords and landing pages will give you an edge over your competitors, as they might not necessarily be using these features.
We go on to speak about the importance of having a Google My Business Page as this means you can appear on page one of Google, without having to battle for organic results, through SERP features. Another big aspect is the reviews section. People are always looking for social proof. By adding these reviews to your website, you help to paint a better picture about your business. You should always be responding to these reviews no matter how good or bad they are as this shows a human element.

This week's episode is all about smartphone video marketing. I'm joined by Daryl Cygler, founder of Smartphone Video Marketing, the business that teaches SMB owners how to start and scale their video marketing efforts without the need for video production companies and expensive film equipment.
Stabilising your shots through using a tripodMaking sure your audio is clear by using a micEnsuring that there is enough light behind the camera facing the subject being recorded
As technology is evolving our capability to create content has increased massively. All you need is a smartphone nowadays. When filming, you should always be giving the perception of professionalism meaning that your videos should be high quality. This does mean that you will have to invest in some affordable equipment and keep some factors in mind.
Some of the ways you can raise your smartphone video marketing production to the next level:
You need to make sure your shots are as stable as they can possibly be. The second element is audio. This is just as important as the quality of the video. Using a mic will mean that everything you say will be picked up clearly and there should be limited background noise. Lighting is so important when it comes to filming. Having either natural light or artificial light in front of the subject, behind the camera, will ensure that everything shows up clearly when recording. Understanding these layers of perception and quality, and combining those two together, will mean you should have a really slick production.
We go on to speak about some of the starting points and ideas for SMB's that want to create video content. You want to tell a visual story in a professional way. This means keeping things simple and creating authentic content that resonates with your audience.

This week's episode is all about taking sales online. I'm joined by Bill Murphy, Founder and CEO of Solar Cheat Code and Cheat Code For Sales Pros, a consulting marketing firm that helps salespeople create sales opportunities using online marketing to build their personal brands.
With everything being moved online there are new ways to sell your products. Through the powers of social media, you can impose your will on an existing marketplace and reach different people at different times.
Social media gives you the opportunity to engage with your community instead of purely optimising for conversions. You need to be building relationships. We go on to speak about looking at marketing as a three-piece funnel where at the top of the funnel, you have your awareness, the middle you have credibility and finally, at the bottom, you have the call to action.
Creating content helps massively to build awareness for the top of the funnel. Think about what your customer is interested in. How does your product help them achieve their desired outcomes? An easy way to think about this would be to base your content on a list of all the features and how they ultimately benefit the customer. We want to create authentic content that resonates with our target market. Testimonials, case studies and before and afters will help you to build credibility.

This weeks episode is all about loyalty marketing. I'm joined by Paula Thomas, creator & host of the Let’s Talk Loyalty podcast. Paula is a loyalty marketing expert with over twenty years of experience delivering tangible results for some of the world's top brands. The show is targeted at industry professionals who specialise in creating, running and optimising marketing programmes that drive customer loyalty.
Loyalty, when it comes to customers, is often thought about as gift cards or stamps to get a free product. It is a lot more than that. It's all about how you look after your customers. For online businesses, this can be a challenge as you aren't always in front of them, but there are ways you can add value. Email marketing is still a well-proven tool to build this relationship with your customers and adding new formats of content such as video or audio can set you apart from the competitors.
You need to be making a connection with your customers. This is easily achieved when there is flexibility. Another proven loyalty scheme are reward points. The flexibility offered by the points system depends on the provider. Some business have had to adapt during the pandemic, for example, airlines. They are now offering other products, in addition to the flights, where you can spend your points. Another form of flexibility is partnering with brands. This will allow the customers to transfer their benefits over and use them in a different way.
Community is a really big opportunity to drive loyalty. It's all about the mindset of giving something to the people that you value, who support your business, and in doing so, making them feel like they are part of something bigger. You should always be trying to do your best for your customers and doing it in a way that makes sense to them, not just what makes sense to you financially.

This weeks episode is all about the power of podcasting. I'm joined by David Pérez, a Podcast Producer and the host of the Audience Coach podcast. His podcast helps coaches and entrepreneurs in the health and wellness industry create audiences for their businesses. David also works with health and wellness coaches so they can spread messages of improvement, positivity and growth through podcasting. David and his team have accompanied podcasters through the production and release of over a thousand episodes.
Everyone has a community online. Creating a podcast is a great way to develop and build this community and also find more of your ideal clients. A lot of people start podcasts for the wrong reasons as they're thinking about the revenue side. A podcast is meant for relationships, it's a long term strategy. It's an opportunity to meet and connect with people and businesses that you normally wouldn't have worked with. Another eye-opening feature of podcasts is that you get to have conversations with specialists and discover new perspectives about topics that you wouldn't normally.
We then go on to speak about the key things to keep in mind when starting your podcast. One of the most important being the need to define your audience. The better you get to understand your target audience, the more value you can offer them.
You don't have to be constantly thinking of new ideas for your podcast. There are a few ways you can find this content that people online are specifically looking for. Many people forget about this. Creating content that the audience needs and that solves their problems is very valuable as you know you've got an audience for it. The same questions that keep being asked are the same problems that more people are facing.
How do we find these questions? By scanning the comments section of social media, YouTube and similar platforms, you can gauge what people online are looking for. From looking at this you can extract the common issues and base your ideas on these suggestions and questions. Another resource for your content is answering the questions that your clients and customers have around your business.

This week's episode is all about SERP features. I'm joined by Diana Richardson, Social Media Manager at SEMrush. Diana has a wealth of experience in digital marketing from her previous roles. She learned SEO and PPC from the ground alongside Google and Bing as they evolved. Diana used SEMrush in her previous roles and has been a huge advocate of the tool.
SEMrush is an all-in-one suite of tools for improving online visibility and discovering marketing insights. The tool is suitable for marketers that work in the following services: SEO, PPC, SMM, Keyword Research, Competitive Research, PR, Content Marketing, Marketing Insights, Campaign Management and Social Media. Basically everyone. A key feature that sets it apart from other tools thought is its data visualisation.
The acronym SERP stands for Search Engine Results Page. A SERP feature is everything on the search results page except the organic links and the paid ads. They are the enhancements you see when using Google. Search engines will continually test and update the features on these pages to make sure they are providing the best user experience.
SERP features also give you a great opportunity to be present on the first page without having to battle for organic results. The way search engines work is that they crawl the internet and pull through content that is the most relevant. You need to make sure that you have content in the first place with the most relevant keywords. So if your content and keywords aren't, then you're not going to be present.
We go on to speak about the things you can do to make sure that your content is being found. By including engaging multimedia and making sure you're answering questions, you can gain more interaction and help appear higher up on search engines. Another tip would be to make your content and website as clean and accessible as possible so that both people and search engines can recognise this. User experience plays a huge part in how long people spend on a website and where it will rank.

This week's episode is all about how event planning has gone virtual. I'm joined by Erica Maurer, a veteran event planner and partner at EMRG Media, a leading full service event planning and digital marketing company. She is also a partner and producer of The Event Planning Expo, New York City’s largest events and hospitality industry trade show.
Erica is now dedicated to helping her clients adjust from in-person events to virtual event experiences. In December, she successfully produced 65 virtual events. Her client roster includes BuzzFeed, Columbia Records, The Robin Hood Foundation, Smile Train, Pitchbook, Twitter, Google, and many more.
The pandemic has caused a shift in the way we live our lives causing us to adapt to the new normal. The Events industry was heavily affected. In-person events always used to be an exciting experience that could extend your network of contacts or entice you to sample food and drinks. There was always an engaging factor.
The whole process of how we host events has changed. We have had to reevaluate the purpose and objectives of the event. It's more important than ever to have the audience's attention by showcasing value. This way you can get everyone involved and make them feel like they're part of something bigger. Hosting virtually can initially be challenging but there are so many ways you can do this.
A few different suggestions for virtual events that we found effective included coffee meetings, dinners and live entertainment. It doesn't matter if you're a startup business or a major corporation, all these things are easy to set up. By sending vouchers for food or drinks it's possible to meet up virtually over a coffee, drink or meal. By using courier services the meeting can be in the comfort of your home or workplace. For team building activities you can be more adventurous by hosting quizzes, karaoke or magic tricks.
There are so many tools and platforms available that can be used for events in order to create a better experience. The reality is with some of these platforms there's a learning curve so people tend to stick to the most popular choice, Zoom, since it is easy to use. It also has the advantage to be customised so this can suit your event.

The All About Digital Marketing Podcast is brought to you by Social INK, a digital marketing consultancy on a mission to put the social back into social media.Tue, 08 Jun 2021 - 140 - Episode 140 - LinkedIn, Employee Advocacy and More with Jonathan Baldock
Today's episode is all about employee advocacy on LinkedIn and more with Jonathan Baldock. Jonathan works in an advisory role for SocialHP. In his previous role, 9 years at LinkedIn, he served customers like Accenture, JPMorgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson, PespsiCo, Hershey's and IBM. He is highly skilled in sharing best practices and an expert in social media recruitment, sales and marketing strategies.
We speak about encouraging employee engagement on social media as this can be very powerful. It can be a challenge to get employees to "buy-in" and actually share your content. You will need to explain the reasons why their support will benefit the company and also themselves. Sharing will help the company by increasing reach, creating new leads and more sales opportunities. For the employees, it will raise their professional profile and by sharing thought leadership, industry news, and company content, you can become an expert within your network.
We then go on to speak about LinkedIn's owned, earned and paid audiences and the difference between each one. Owned audience is your channel (company or personal) and organic reach. You will not have to pay for these as it's part of your ecosystem. Earned is the most valuable audience. If you earn it, you didn't have to pay for it. This is your network and the networks of employees. The employees are connected to your customers and prospects. They're the assets of the company. Paid is when you put ads in front of specific people getting them to take a specific action for a chosen duration of time. The platform will give you information on the size of the audience and how much it's going to cost you.
When posting content, we need to be adding value. It's about keeping the conversation going with the people that matter most. This is called evergreen marketing, or an evergreen channel, which is always on, that's why it's evergreen. Posting and sharing content that is of value from your company will appeal more to your audience because employees content is twice as trusted as the brand. This will be shared with their network and more importantly, people they know and trust.

Today's episode is all about what, and how, to measure your Digital Marketing. I'm joined by Chris Mercer, the Co-founder of MeasurementMarketing.io. Mercer (as he’s known) is a sought after measurement marketing expert and has been helping marketers, marketing teams, and agencies know, trust, and grow their numbers.
It is so important for all businesses, especially SMEs, to know their numbers and how they're getting results. Most people don't fully understand this, but once you understand it, you will have more clarity. You can then start to plan ahead and be more certain of what's going to happen.
Tools such as Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are hugely powerful when it comes to measuring your marketing. With all this power, comes a lot of complexity. When you're not 100% sure where to gather the right information, it can be a real challenge. It's worth investing some time so that you understand the basics and have them set up for use.
We go on to speak about using the source medium report in Google Analytics as this has everything you need right away all in one report. When you learn this one report and understand how to use it to tell a story, the rest of the platform should be a lot easier to navigate.
All our marketing efforts should be objective-driven. You need to make sure that you've got a goal in mind. You should only be sending traffic to your site with a purpose in mind. You need to be able to measure it if it's achieving its purpose. This enables you to see the process and understand where you need to adjust what you're doing if it's not going to plan. Without knowing this data, you don't know what is and what isn't working.

Today's episode is all about contact management on steroids. I'm joined by Jon Ferrara, CEO of Nimble and a renowned pioneer in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) field, serial entrepreneur and marketing and sales expert.
Jon believes the more people you can help to grow, the more you grow. It’s one of the reasons he pioneered contact management and CRM with GoldMine in the '90s, a company he sold for $125 million. He re-entered the workforce in 2010 and then launched the first social CRM, Nimble. Jon’s core values are building products that help others achieve their passion, plan, and purpose. It's what drives his success.
We go on to discuss how should we be using CRM to really understand the benefits of a relationship with a customer or supplier. "You need to think about the contacts that you already have as your gold, and the more investment you make in those contacts, the more gold you get out of the mine." A good way to start would be to organise your existing contacts, prioritise them and then begin to nurture and engage with them. This doesn't have to be all via email. People tend to get higher engagement on social media.
We should all have our own personal contact management solution, in addition to our networks and our brands. Most people don't really do a good job of nurturing their brand or their network. Unifying your contacts into a singular place enables you to engage them on a regular basis and to manage your contacts more effectively. This will help you form better relationships and connections.

Today's episode is all about self-serve ads. I'm joined by Lisen Zethraeus, Chief Marketing Officer at DanAds, who has a wealth of experience with brands including Mars Inc, M&Ms, Snickers, Orbit, Whiskers, and Pedigree. All of these brands have huge marketing budgets and many levels of approval when running campaigns.
Lisen was curious about brands at the other end of the spectrum that don't have large budgets. That's what lead her to DanAds. DanAds is on a mission to democratise ad buying for SMEs all over the world through building self-serve advertising platforms.
Self-serve ads are a great way for smaller businesses to advertise as anyone is able to use them and you don't need assistance from a sales representative. Your options when you don't have the biggest budget are normally Facebook or Google. It's very easy to spend your budget quickly on these platforms especially when you don't know all the settings. You need to invest a little time to understand them. Paying an expert who understands these platforms will eat into your budget.
We go on to discuss the DanAds platform that enables you to set up self-serve ads on a variety of big publishers that might be more suitable for your business. One of the main advantages of advertising through a publisher is the ability to reach target audiences that are more relevant. These publishers will have large daily viewers giving a potentially huge reach.
Understanding your audience and what platforms they use is important for the success of any campaign. By knowing this you will attract the right audience when creating self-serve ads.

Today's episode is all about the concept of "2 weeks ahead is good for your head". We never want to be rushing around and desperately trying to create content. This is a big No. When content is done quickly at the last minute, it usually has mistakes or other issues. It won't be thought out properly and is not actually going to take us towards our objectives.
Think about the effect on you, your brand, and most importantly, your audience.
Another issue is when you go on to a business's social media page and try to find information and notice that they haven't posted for a month or more. This creates confusion, especially now with everything that's happened over the last year with a lot of businesses, unfortunately, having closed. It doesn't look good for the business.
To make sure that we're never on the back-foot we like to plan to be 2 weeks ahead. That's going to help your brand get recognised. When people see your content they will form links to your business and know what you're about. That is the key.
That's why we should be posting consistently. By planning and always being two weeks ahead, you take away the pressure for you and the chance that your audience will forget who you are.
Having that baseline content and adding on top of that is going to be far more powerful than having no content planned and trying to add things on the day. How planned is your content? Let us know.
I hope you all stay safe. Enjoy the episode!

Today's episode is all about People First Digital Marketing with Mike Krass. Mike is the CEO of MKG Marketing, a digital marketing agency that gets tech and healthcare brands found online through transparent, measurable digital marketing.
Over the last ten years, Mike has grown MKG Marketing into a 7 figure business not only by specialising in data and analytics but by embracing a “people first” philosophy that promotes a strong work-life balance while systematically holding employees as well as clients accountable.
The Healthcare industry is highly regulated and this includes communications. There is a lot you can not say. When it comes to Life Science and Pharmaceutical marketing you have to be very careful. The general rule of thumb is that you can talk about yourself but making comparisons is a real issue. This can get you in trouble with the regulators or even worse, a federal organisation.
There's often a misconception that you need someone to do marketing and to make sure that you're posting on social media. Many small business owners fall into this trap. We go on to speak about small businesses choosing between hiring somebody in-house as the first and only marketing employee or choosing an agency that is suited to your requirements.
We also discuss some of the benefits and challenges of both approaches. When it comes to hiring there are other costs in addition to the salary, experience and demands on the individual that need to be understood. When going with an agency, you won't have the response time compared to that of in-house. Don't get caught up in the need of having the perfect system. You just need a system that works for you.

Today's episode is all about content calendars. There are a couple of schools of thought on why they are a phenomenal tool and every small business should be using one.
You've probably heard all about them, but what exactly are they and how should you be using them?
1. It's an advanced plan for your content creation.Content Calendars, also known as editorial calendars, give you the ability to be on top of things and plan your content so that you don't miss anything. They enable you to view a schedule of when and where you are posting content. Key dates can be easily forgotten so using this method really helps you identify the dates. You can maximise key days, for example, Mothers day, Black Friday, anniversaries, for your business, and work anniversaries for your team.
2. Content themes.Having the ability to plan and forward think your content gives you the chance to create content themes either weekly or monthly. An example of this is spending a whole week talking about a specific product or service. Using a content calendar is a great way to create niche content for a specific amount of time.
So how complex a content calendar should you create?
We would advise you to use the KISS acronym:
Keep It Simple, Stupid!
The simpler it is the more likely you are to use it. This can be an Excel file or a Google Sheet to get you started. All you would need to do is add in your relevant dates and start creating content so you can get it scheduled well in advance of the publish date. This will keep you on top of your content creation, scheduling and posting.
If you want a simple to use content calendar, head over to Socialink.co and grab yours free today.

Today's episode is all about generating leads online through Google Ads. I'm joined by George Copeland, Co-Founder & CEO of Laborem Edge.
George is a Google Ads specialist that has created software to hone and optimise ads. Having a background in marketing and promotion, George was intrigued by how to generate leads online. He got into Google Ads as a mentor of his built and sold a multimillion-dollar company realising that there's something special there. He now uses this knowledge to help businesses complete their marketing goals.
Google is one of the most popular search engines and has so much data available. As business owners, this information comes in very handy. We are able to use it in order to understand what people are searching for and how they behave online.
When it comes to SEO and keywords, it's very easy to get into the old methodology of keyword stuffing. A lot of people don't know or understand what the implications of this can be. Also, negative keyword lists are so important and you should research this for your industry.
We also talk about the importance of having a journey mapped out for your potential customer. If you are trying to drive people to your website for a specific reason, you shouldn't be sending them to the homepage or an overview page. You should be sending them to a page that is specifically about the one thing they are currently looking for. This means that you will have to create relevant landing pages, sales pages, or squeeze pages if you haven't done so already.

Today's episode is all about creating content. We talk about it all the time. You've no doubt heard "content is king". Gary Vee even talks about creating 100 pieces of content every day.
The reality for most of us is that it's just not possible. It's hard enough to create a couple of pieces of content per week let alone per day. So when it comes to creating content, what should you be doing?
Here's something to think about.
Would you prefer to have one piece of content, that people really engage with, that they watch, share, like and comment on, or would you rather post 5 times a day without any real purpose?
Our marketing efforts should always be objective-driven, although most people forget about this when it comes to social media content. Posting on social media for the sake of it is a waste of time.
You should be trying to provide real value or insight to your target audience through your content.
Once you understand the 3 fundamental points below, you can set about planning what content you want to create.
- Where does your ideal audience hang out? (Which platforms?)What sort of content do they like to consume? (Types of media?)What are their issues/problems that your company is trying to solve? (Your purpose?)
If you've listened to this episode, and you'll still not sure what you should be creating content about, I'd love to have a chat and help point you in the right direction. You can book in a FREE session with us, using the following link:

I’m joined by Jose Quiroz, a serial entrepreneur and digital sales system designer who helps companies maximize their online sales with minimal effort. He is the owner and CEO of Quiroz, the company helping experienced business owners shift their perspective and experience those pivotal AHA! moments when they realize they can add a heck of a lot to their bottom line without having to hustle harder.
We see so many businesses joining new platforms they aren't knowledgeable about. There are more platforms available today than ever before and so choosing the right medium is critical for success. Platforms that are on upward trends may not be the best suited. You may need to go back to basics. Understand the platform and what it is you want to achieve, then you'll get better results.
Set aside time to work ON your business. To look at the bigger picture. Identify your target audience. Determine your objectives, not revenue. Your overall strategy needs to be consistent with the platform choices you are considering for your business. You are more likely to achieve exponential growth by doing it this way.

Thu, 15 Apr 2021 - 129 - Episode 129 - Engagement Security with Kathleen Booth
Today’s episode is all about engagement security. Making sure we are secure when being online is so important, especially when more people than ever are working from home.
I'm joined by Kathleen Booth, the VP of Marketing at clean.io, the market leader in digital engagement security solutions. They are used by businesses looking to optimize their revenue and buyer experience by taking back control over third-party code on their websites. Before joining clean.io, she spent 13 years in the digital marketing agency world, first as Owner and CEO of Quintain Marketing and then as VP of Marketing at IMPACT.
Kathleen is the host of the long-running Inbound Success Podcast and was named by TopRank as one of the 50 Top B2B Marketing Influencers of 2019.
We talk about the fact that as marketers we're not taught about cybersecurity. We need to be aware of the issues and the risks that are associated with an online presence. A safer social experience can be provided through websites as there is more control over this platform.
Social Media can suffer from the same vulnerabilities but more so since we don't have control over these platforms. An example is you don't have control of a platform getting hacked, but you can implement 2 Factor Authentication. These are just the basics.
One of the risks we can encounter is social engineering, a malicious activity designed to trick people online into giving away sensitive information such as passwords. There are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself such as cybersecurity training and implementing policies internally.

Tue, 13 Apr 2021 - 128 - Episode 128 - How To Format Graphic Posts For Different Platforms
Today’s episode is all about formatting graphic posts for social media. With a wide range of social platforms, keeping up with the formats can be a challenge.
Understanding the platform your target audience are using will provide a better social experience. Each platform has many features, new ways to post, share and create content. All of these can be leveraged by repurposing content to other formats and platforms.
Once you know what platform you’re going to use, you can then start to focus on the content. How you format graphics is different for each platform. This means that the format you post on one platform may not be suitable for another.
Here’s a quick cheat sheet to help you out.
A quick win, when you don’t have a lot of time to create multiple variations of one image, is to use square graphics. This format works on pretty much all the platforms. It’s a quick win if you haven’t got the time to create multiple versions of the same graphics.Stay safe and enjoy the episode.

We take it for granted when posting on social media, or sending emails, or even when we’re writing that new blog post. We all communicate in the same way, right? Well, wrong! We all have different ways of being understood, and understanding too.
So, ask yourself this question. How effective a communicator are you?

Stuff We Mentioned/Links:Tue, 30 Mar 2021 - 124 - Episode 124 - A Slight Disruption To Our Usual Program
Today's episode is a little bit different. Yep, "again?" I hear you say. But it really is.
You've probably noticed a bit of disruption to the podcast recently. Fewer episodes going live, not our usual cadence of 2 episodes per week, and maybe even I've been sounding a little under the weather for lack of a better description.
Well, all of that comes down to feeling pretty much fed up with the current situation. Lockdown here in the UK is now well into week 9 (I think - I can't even remember) and along the way, it's become harder and harder to stay energised, to look after myself and continue to produce more and more content.
So I've decided to take a step back. Take a little time away. Refocus my attention, and try to make sure that I give myself some time to re-energise.
If you've been feeling like this, I hope you now know that you are not alone. In a large number of conversations I've had recently, A LOT of people are feeling the same way. But it's as if we're not really supposed to talk about it. Like it's some kind of taboo subject. Or that if you tell your audience you're struggling, they'll simply run away from you and never come back.
I disagree.
Rather than trying to cover up what's going on, I wanted to talk about it. Instead of pretending I'm too busy, or that life is too awesome, I'd prefer to share the reality with you.
These last 9 weeks have been brutal. The monotony, and repetition of a daily routine, without much interaction, have proven very hard. I've done my best to look after myself and along the way, I've experienced ups and downs.
Well, I've reached that point now where I just need to take some time away from everything. Re-assess my goals, objectives and where I want to focus. Take some time to build up my energy stores and be able to come back with a new focus and energy. So that's what I'm doing.
Hopefully, all of you will understand, and in 10 days or so when we come back, you'll be here ready to check out the new episodes and to continue to listen, learn and enjoy the podcast. If not, that's ok too.
If you don't look after yourself, you definitely can't look after anyone else. And that's the position I'm now in.
If you're feeling the same way, I'm happy to chat. You can hit us up on any of our social channels, links below, and I'd be happy to talk to you about it too.
in the meantime, look after yourself, those around you and stay strong. We'll see you soon.
Stay safe everybody.

Today's episode is all about trusting your gut. Well, your intuition at least. For many people, it comes in the form of that sensation that something's not right. But did you know there is a developing science around what we call intuition?
I'm joined by Sunil Godse from Intuitionlogy. He's spent years, interviewing hundreds of business leaders, to better understand what intuition really is, and just how big a part it can play in running and marketing our businesses.
Sunil is passionate about helping people understand their intuition better. Most of us can remember at least one time we've gone against our gut and it hasn't worked out well. But what if you could take some time to figure out those good intuitions that landed you that amazing new client, or that helped you open a new opportunity?
How powerful could it be to start listening to maximise the opportunities that appear in front of you?
How much of a difference could that make to your business?

Today's episode is all about making better video content. We're all looked down here in Europe, and especially in the UK. LoFi video (video content that you can make yourself) has become stock in trade for a lot of us. In our previous episode, we talked about what LoFi video is, today we're talking about how you can improve the quality of your videos.
I started off only wanting to detail 3 things that we use on a regular basis to create content. In the end, I covered 4.
1. BigVu - it's an app and it's very simply a teleprompter for your iPhone. It's the perfect app if you don't feel confident to just talk to the camera, and you prefer to work off a script.
2. Phone holder and ring light clamp - this is a cheap and effective way of improving the quality of your video 10 fold (notice I didn't say 10X).
3. EpocCam - by El Gato - This is a tiny piece of software that you can install on Mac and PC - and an app that you can install on your phone. Together, they allow you to use your smartphone as a webcam. Most iPhones today are far better quality than even the best webcams.
4. Rode VideoMic Me-L - This is an iPhone (lightning connector) directional microphone. This will upgrade the quality of your sound massively. (apologies, it's £66, not £40-something).
That's it for today. If you're creating video content, we'd love to hear what you're up to, and if you're not sure how to get started, simply reach out to us on social media and ask. We're always here to help.

Today's episode is all about LoFi video. If you're not sure what that means, don't worry, that's what we're here to help with today. LoFi video is simply video content that can be created simply, cheaply and very easily.
The Superbowl happened last week. That's the perfect example of big-budget video creation for brands. The Superbowl ads are a BIG thing every year. Brands compete to come up with the best idea possible, and they then throw MILLIONS of dollars at agencies, stars and production studios to make it possible.
Lo-Fi video is the complete opposite of that. It's clever and insightful content that can be created by you, at home or at work, using simple tools like your phone or your laptop. For example, have you noticed how Sky News relies pretty much exclusively now on Zoom or Skype calls to run interviews?
You can use LoFi video to do the exact same thing for your business. You can create simple, but effective content about who you are and what you're business does, simply by recording yourself talking about it.
Check out today's episode and if you're stuck coming up with ideas contact us on social media and we'll share some of the videos we've helped create for businesses around the UK.

Thu, 11 Feb 2021 - 120 - Episode 120 - Partnerships & Rebranding with Adam King
Today's episode is all about partnerships. How can your business develop partnerships that are not only profitable for both parties, but also for your customers and audience? We're joined by Adam King, the first of our guests to return to the podcast.
Partnership is a term that's often bound around without understanding the true potential it provides us all with. From affiliate deals to co-authored content, introductions to referrals partnerships come in all shapes and sizes. The best partnerships you'll build are the ones that symbiotically help everyone involved.
It's not just about partnerships today. I asked Adam to come back on the podcast for another reason too. He recently made some bold decisions for his business and most importantly his podcast. After more than one hundred episodes, he rebranded. Now that's something a lot of people would be scared to do. I strongly recommend you check out The B2B Growth Think Tank.
Why did he rebrand? That's exactly why I brought him on. To tell his story, and to remind you that it's ok to pivot your business. In fact, it's healthy to do it when the time is right.
His new podcast has a whole new framework and purpose, and it's directly focusing on tackling the problems that B2B businesses are currently having.
I hope you all stay safe.

Today's episode is all about understanding a fundamental principle for success in marketing, and anything else for that matter. You see, trying something once, and saying it doesn't work simply isn't a good strategy.
As with most things in life you need to consistently show up. Doing something, again and again, to make sure that it has a fair chance of actually getting some results. And then, and this is the really hard part for most of us, you need patience.
Guess what? It's not going to happen overnight. There are no overnight success stories that don't start with years of effort and hard work. At least none that I know of.
And all of this was inspired by a recent article I read by Seth Godin titled Chasing The Cool Kids.

Today's episode is all about Louie Torres. Yes, he's the founder of Unleashed Marketing and yes he helps dog trainers secure more business through digital marketing. But the episode is about MUCH more than that.
You see, for Louie, this is the space he's chosen to work in. But the reason why Louie is so successful in the space is that he really understands his clients, their problems and their needs. And that's what's important about this episode.
Way too many of us try to be all things to all men, and as a result, it ends badly. It doesn't end up working out. Because of how Louie understands his customers, he's also incredibly good at understanding their customers (he was one at one point).
We talk about automation, saving time, find more effective ways to communicate and maximising what would otherwise be dead time for dog trainers, and guess what, no matter what you do, you'll find that this is applicable to you and your small business too.
I hope you all stay safe.

Today's episode is all about looking at what the future of digital marketing might in fact look like in the next couple of years. Now, we definitely don't have a crystal ball over at Social INK, and technology evolves at an increasingly fast rate, but some "future" things, might already be out there.
We know for sure that cookies and tracking are changing. With new laws set to come into effect, and Apple making bold moves for user privacy (like annoying Facebook recently) the endlessly tacking people around the net is going to be a thing of the past.
But what about AI and how that's helping to create content, or more importantly - simple messaging bots that automatically respond to your messages and questions?
Who knows, but I'm going to be looking to get some guests on over the next couple of months to talk about what we all think will likely happen. In the meantime, here are just some of my thoughts. And some things you should probably check out if you didn't know they were a thing.

Today's episode is all about SERPs. Not sure what SERPs are? It stands for Search Engine Results Page. Basically, it's what you see when you type something into Google (or Bing if you're one of the 5%).
Jason Barnard has been fascinated with SERP for a long time now. Over the past 8 years, he's been pulling together a database of brand SERPs and looking for those key factors that make it all-important and powerful for brands.
Join us today as Jason explains the ins and outs that are often forgotten, especially when it comes to brand searches. That's right, we all think people searching for our brand already know all about us and can find us easily, but even I learnt a thing or two during this conversation.

Today's episode is all about experimenting. Yes, I know what you're all thinking, "he's talking about experimenting AGAIN!" But that's what digital marketing is all about. It's about constantly trying new things to see what works and what doesn't.
In this episode, James O'Donnell and I (Chris Bruno) are trying something new. An experiment of sorts. We recorded this episode of the podcast LIVE on the Social INK channels. We want everyone to try different things. Use the word experiment - so everyone else knows that you're simply trying something out.
What's the worse that could happen? No one listens, watches, or engages? No worries, move on to the next experiment.
But don't let "fear" stop you. Don't let other people's opinions influence you. You're doing great, and most people won't even try.

Today's episode is all about public relations - also known as PR. What we think of as PR might be antiquated. The thoughts of meeting journalists for drinks or dinners and building a relationship certainly no longer fit the times we've been living for the last 12 months or so.
But in reality, it changed long before social distancing came into play. Victoria Kennedy, CEO of Victorious PR joins us on the podcast today. She understands what it's like to try to get your name out there. As an opera singer, she was constantly trying to get her name out there.
Today she helps a wide range of business owners get their story and message out into the world. The press is online more than ever, and that's where people consume content.
So whether you've always wanted to publish a thought leadership piece on Forbes, or you're trying to announce your latest product launch, you'll want to hear what Victoria has to say.

Today's episode is all about looking after yourself. 2021 is off to a strange start. Feels a little like we never really left 2020. There have been a ton of memes and gifs expressing how people are feeling so far this year. And I guess it's completely understandable.
Today I wanted to share that it's ok not to feel great. Heck, I know that I don't always feel great. In fact, so far this year (yes, all 2 weeks of it) I've had 2 days of feeling like I just wanted to sit in a corner, in the dark and do nothing for a hours on end.
It's normal to have ups and downs in life, but at the moment, life almost feels FLAT. Like there are no ups or downs to speak of, it's almost worse. The lack of variety in our surroundings, environments, activities, etc makes things even more challenging.
Well, I just wanted to say that when it comes to you, your business, or your marketing, right now, don't be too hard on yourself. Do things that make you smile. Try new things you've never done, or simply take a break away from it all for a while and then come back to it when you're ready.
Either way - if you need it, we're here too. Feeling down - get in touch. Want to chat - get in touch. Not sure what to do next - get in touch. Fancy a game of FIFA - get in touch.
Seriously - this is who we are - you can find us live every day on Social INK's YouTube channel - or simply reach out to us directly on any of the All About Digital Marketing Channels.
One way or the other we will reply and we will be here to help out.

Today's episode is all about local search, but more importantly, it's about finding your happy in your business with John Vuong, Owner of Local SEO Search. That sounds a bit "hippy-ish", but it's far more important than you may have realised.
Now, this isn't about positive thinking, or breathing techniques to get through the day. It's about how to make sure that you're building a productive and happy business, that actually fits in with the goals you had when you first started.
Of course, we also talk about search, and what really are the basics every small business should be focusing on. Like Google My Business. Are you using that to help build your business?

Today’s episode is all about wishing you happy New Year. Or is it? As lockdown Version 3.0 has begun here in the UK, it’s easy to think of 20201 starting as bad as 2020 finished.
But I don’t think that’s the case. It’s another reminder that we’re not quite out of the woods yet, but that definitely doesn’t mean things aren’t getting better.
What does it mean for your business though? Well, things aren’t looking like they’ll be back to business as usual, at least not for the foreseeable future. So the importance of digital once again is imperative for your business.
Take this time to find ways to communicate and engage with your community, your customers, your suppliers. You might be surprised at just how responsive people will be.

Today's episode is all about taking a holistic and empathetic approach to your marketing. Joined by Janet Mesh, CEO and Co-Founder of Aimtal, we're talking about how businesses can sometimes overlook some of the key components required for successful marketing.
When we talk about empathy, it's important for everyone to understand that we're talking about it in the same way. Yes, that's right, the definition of a word can sometimes be lost in translation and ends up being used a buzzword as opposed to how it should be.
Truly putting yourself in your customers' shoes is one of the most powerful ways you can understand where they are at and how you can engage and interact with them. Once you truly know them, then you can start to focus on creating content that's really right for them.

Today's episode is all about brand messaging. Yep, that sounds very high level but hold on a moment. My guests today are Emily Soccorsy and Justin Foster, Co-Founders of Root and River. They specialise in guiding brands to scale around their mission.
For years, this dynamic duo, have been helping brands get out of the comfort zone by really examining and understanding who they really are. It's easy to get lost in the buzzwords and jargon of marketing, but a truly powerful story has an emotional, even spiritual, experience behind it.
Join us as we dive into intrinsic branding and how it can sometimes be painful, to tell the truth, especially to ourselves, as those who own or manage the business. We talk about the importance of language and truly understanding who you are as part of your brand.
They don't always agree as Co-Founders, but that's a good thing. They compliment each other perfectly, as with all great teams.

Today's episode is all about telling brand stories, with Sarah Braud from Braud Creative. All companies start with a story. We often forget about that story, but we really shouldn't. Why did we start the company, how did we start the company? It's a whole hero's story.
With Sarah, we're discussing how important it is to bring that story to the forefront of your marketing. We want you to tell your tale. And just like any amazing story, it starts with a Hero.
In your story, the HERO is your customer. They're the ones you're taking on a journey. By understanding them, who they are, what they're struggling with, you can guide them on this journey.
It all begins with making sure your message is clear and focused, just like the story, on your hero!

Today's episode is all about planning next year's digital marketing efforts for your business. Yep, that's right, the year is nearly over and for most of us, we're probably quite happy to see the back end of 2020 at this point.
I've always found that the Christmas to New Year break is a great time for some reflection (about the past year) and planning (for the year to come).
It's the perfect time where most clients are busy enjoying their time with friends and family, and I do the same. But the business is like a friend or family member, so I like to check in and think about what's gone well, what I learnt from and what I want to focus on next year.
So, what's on your to-do list for 2021? I'll let you in on a secret, for me, it's streaming. Next year I'll be doing more and more with live video, and I can't wait to get started.

Today's episode is all about podcasting, but more importantly, it's actually about being smarter when it comes to creating content. Yes, that's right, if I can find a way to work smart instead of just hard I want to implement it.
Michael Greenberg, the Gentleman of Tech (the OG - Original Gentleman), and the Chief Strategist at Call For Content, has been working in the podcasting space for years. He's developed systems and methodologies to help turn a podcast in to so much more. We've spoken about repurposing content on this show before, but Michael's real superpower is operations and automation.
In the episode, we'll talk about the tools Michael uses, and how he creates smart workflows that allow him to develop, create and publish more content than you ever thought possible.
I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did. There are some pearls in here that you're bound to love.

The All About Digital Marketing Podcast is brought to you by Social INK, a digital marketing consultancy on a mission to put the social back into social media.Tue, 15 Dec 2020 - 103 - Episode 103 - Running A Podcast For 100+ Episodes
Today's episode is all about starting a podcast and publishing more than 100 episodes. What does that take? What does it look like? What sort of results can you expect? Wow - that's a lot of questions. Let's take a quick look at it and see what our journey was like.
Before we get started, I want to set the scene. The very first episode we recorded was with the team at Social INK. We didn't have a name for the podcast. No Website. No domain URL. NOTHING.
The only thing we knew was that we wanted to start, record and publish a podcast within 30 days. Yep, that's right. That's how we started. If you've followed Social INK over the past couple of years, you'll have seen some of our crazy internal challenges. This was no different.
The reason I'm being a bit nostalgic and going back to this is simply to reinforce this."Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can!"
Arthur Ashe
I love this quote. And we live by it! Sure, since then we've moved the needle. The podcast audience is growing, slowly but surely. The production quality is getting better. It's all about small incremental improvements.
So, if you're thinking of starting a podcast, I'll leave you with what Eugene Kan said to me in Episode 10.
"If you weren't getting paid for it, would you want to keep doing it?"
Eugene Kan
If the answer is yes, then you know what you need to do. Whether it's a YouTube channel, a podcast or blog posts, it doesn't matter. You'll be amazed how quickly a year will pass, and suddenly you'll be hitting milestones too.
I hope you all stay safe.

Today’s episode is all about influencer marketing. We’re joined by Derren Ohanian from Social Sensei. Derren knows what it takes to make an influencer marketing campaign for your business.
Something that’s important to remember is to be a human being online. Yes, it sounds so simple, but way too many people seem to forget that once they’re online and in front of their keyboard. Being human and authentic is how we create real relationships.
We talk about the different levels of influencer campaigns, looking at the opportunities for micro-influencers and even nano-influencers. What’s a nano-influencer? Someone that has a small audience (sub-1000 subscribers), but is hyper niche and has an engaged audience.
If you’ve been thinking about, or you’ve been trying influencer marketing, you’ll want to listen to this episode. Derren’s experience and insights will help you understand where you should focus your efforts.

Today's episode is taken from The Social INK Show. James O'Donnell, Commercial Director and Chris Bruno, CEO, are talking about only working with people that bring you joy. Sounds like a simple concept and in reality, it is.
We've realised something this year, especially this year in fact. Life is short, and the vast majority of it is spent working and sleeping. Right now, with lockdowns and restrictions, we're doing less than ever before. So it's becoming more and more apparent that it's imperative to work with people that bring you joy.
What do we mean by that? Well, life's too short and we spend too many hours working to work with a team or a boss that makes us miserable. As entrepreneurs, we spend WAY too much time working to be doing it for clients that don't make us smile. And what about that supplier that we think is crucial to our business' success? You can replace them too.
You see, toxic relationships, in any aspect of our life, are just NOT WORTH IT. It's time to see the value in who you are and what you do. Take control of one part of your life that takes up about a third of your life. YES, a third. On average we'll each work 90,000 hours. Only other thing that matches that? Our sleep!
So, remember, it's time to only work with people that bring you joy!

Today's episode is all about creating content for YOUR audience. It sounds really simple, right? But what does that actually mean? Well, let's start by defining who your audience is and what would help them.
That's right, your content should be all about your audience. It should be created with them in mind. For every piece of content you create, you should stop and ask yourself, would my ideal client "Susan" find this useful on her journey right now?
By asking, and answering that question, you'll start to figure out whether or not the content your creating is really for your audience, or if it's just because you wanted to create it. We all want to offer value to our audience. But what I value, or what you value, might be very different from what your audience will value.
Another trick, when creating content for your ideal customer, think back to your sales calls with people that became clients. What were the questions they asked? What were the questions that kept coming up? If you can answer those in your content, you're going to be a superstar for your audience. You'll be answering their questions before they even ask them.

Today's episode is all about repurposing content like a pro. Shaina Weisinger from Repurpose House knows her stuff. For years she's been making content really work for companies and clients, simply by repurposing.
We've all heard the term, "repurposing" content, but what does that actually look like for a small business. Well, in simple terms, if you're currently creating content, publishing it and sharing it once, you're doing it wrong.
One piece of content can become so much more. From creating quotes out of blog articles, sharing shorter clips of longer format videos, or podcasts, there's so much that you can do with every single piece of content that you're currently producing.
So what are you waiting for? Get into the episode and learn how and why you should be repurposing your content as much as possible. You'll be amazed at the results, as well as just how much content you can really produce easily and effectively through repurposing.

Today's episode is all about planning your marketing for 2021. Yep, let's face it 2020 is nearly over (and good riddance). It's time to start thinking about what comes next. For some organisations, this is a yearly ritual. A time to reflect on what has and hasn't worked and a time to think about what comes next.
But just like with any marketing, having a plan is crucial. Yes, we all know the Mike Tyson quote "everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face". But having no plan in marketing is a sure-fire way to allow procrastination to get in the way.
It's time to take the bull by the horns. We are all hoping for a better year next year. Maybe one with a little less drama. That's where planning your marketing for 2021 comes into play. This year may have been good, or bad, for your business. Either way, it's over. It's time to look forward and plan what comes next.

Today's episode is from The Social INK Show. James O'Donnell, Commercial Director and Chris Bruno, Founder of Social INK, are talking all about how small independent retailers can use e-commerce to help interact with their local customers.
Localising e-commerce is a great way during these uncertain times to remain connected with your local customers. Lots of people want to support their local stores, but it's hard to do when you're locked down in your house. They turn to Amazon, or the big chains, as it's easy.
But what if it was as easy to buy from a local independent retailer?

Today's episode is all about building a website that really works for you and your business. Chris Thomas, Founder of Yonder Agency, has been building websites for years. From small businesses to large agency life, his experience has seen it all.
Chris describes himself as 40% creative, 40% strategic and 20% BBQ. He's down to earth, approachable and understands his craft intimately. The important aspects for small businesses, when it comes to their website, it's about creating and building something that will actually generate leads or sales.
But it's important to be able to identify what you sell in under 15 seconds. That's right. Those first 15 seconds on your website should clearly identify exactly who you are and what you do. Help people to understand that.
As Chris says "Be clear over cute" on your website!
I hope you all stay safe.

Today's episode is all about lead magnets. What are lead magnets? The premise is simple enough. It's something that you can offer to your audience in return for their email address. Yes, it really is that simple.
You've seen tons of different styles of lead magnets over the years, even if you weren't aware of them. From ebooks to tools, checklists to webinars. Any time you're offered something that you then need to give your email address to access is in fact a lead magnet.
So, should you have a lead magnet? Well, there are a lot of different schools of thoughts on this. We believe it's an effective way to be able to offer real value to your audience, whilst also generating your mail list. So what sort of lead magnet can you create easily? Well, you'll have to listen to the episode to find that out.
Join the host of the All About Digital Marketing podcast, Chris Bruno, as he talks all about how you can easily create a lead magnet.

Today's episode is all about consistency. Yep, that's right, people like consistency. Take this podcast for example. We started with a commitment to release a new episode every week. People get used to that, and the consistency proves an important element in letting people know that you're invested in them before they invest in you.
When it comes to social media marketing, the same is true. It's happened to all of us, right? We put off posting till tomorrow. Then something comes up at work, then it's the weekend. I'll do it on Monday. Etc Etc... Until suddenly it's been weeks since your last post was published.
There's nothing worse for a brand, and more importantly for your prospective customers than coming to a website or a social media channel, and realising that it's inactive. When that happens, people start to wonder if the company or brand is inactive too.
So, the name of the game is consistency. Consistently posting on the channels you've chosen. Keep that conversation alive and show your audience that you're invested just as much as they should be.
I hope you all stay safe.

Today's episode is all about avoiding shiny new toys. By this, I'm talking about the shiny new MARKETING toys. Not telling you not to treat yourself in your life.
Way too many people spend time trying to figure out the best way to set something up. It ultimately becomes a great way to procrastinate and ultimately not do what they should be doing.
Whether it be setting up email automation, or write a blog, or start a podcast, or run ads. Whatever it is, it's easy to put it off telling yourself you need X to make that work. The truth is you don't.
When we decided to start the All About Digital Marketing podcast, we start where we were, with what we had, and that was it. There was no initial investment. We simply used Apple headphones and a Zoom connection. Today, 81 episodes later, we have a couple of microphones. But a lot of our guests don't.
Don't procrastinate by focusing on shiny new toys. Want to set up a funnel? Do it with what you have. Want to collect email addresses? Create a giveaway with what you have. Want to start a podcast? Focus on the content, not the shiny new toys you think you need.
I hope you all stay safe.

Today's episode is a little bit different. Aren't they all experiments, we hear you ask? Well yes, but today we're talking to Malcolm Hill, a professional surf instructor currently living in Costa Rica. You can check out his Instagram (we did, we were instantly jealous). The real question is why?
Malcolm reached out to us after listening to a few episodes of the show. He's a surf instructor and in 2020 his main occupation became a wipeout (see what we did there). tourists were no longer flocking to Costa Rica. Hotels weren't packed. And as a result, there were no surf lessons to be given.
So he decided to start focusing on how local businesses could use digital marketing as a way to improve their current situation. He decided to reach out to us, and we decided to make a crazy new type of episode. One where we would help answer his questions about digital marketing and what he's working on.
This is definitely another one of our experiments, but we loved making this one. Chris personally really enjoyed the conversation and it was great to meet Malcolm from the other side of the world. A new connection, all thanks to this podcast.
So check out the episode, let us know what you think about the format, and don't be scared to reach out if you have some questions you'd like answered on the podcast.

Today's episode is all about whether or not you should start a podcast. So many people out there are doing it, so should you start one as well?
Some people are going to tell you NOT to do it. You'll get lost in a sea of other podcasts that are started and that never go anywhere. Others, however, will tell you that it's a great way to build your network and increase your visibility.
We're going to say this. If you love the process as much as we do, then starting a podcast and most importantly, continuing to create a podcast is incredible. 77 Episodes in, and we can honestly say, this is one of the highlights of our days.
Just remember this. If you're going to create a podcast, you need to love doing it, and most importantly you need to do it for a specific audience.

Today's episode is all about why you should have a content calendar to help you run your digital marketing. Yep, that's right, having planned content going forward will make your life a lot easier. Most importantly it will make sure you never miss those important dates and opportunities.
Far too many small businesses are simply posting on social media because they think they "have to be on social media".
There's no benefit to simply posting from time to time when you remember. Your content should be planned, with purpose, and then scheduled and ready to go out. That starts with a content calendar.
You can find a free content calendar template thanks to the team at Social INK.

Today's episode is all about marketing failures. Just like in business and in life, we all have failures. But it's not about the failures themselves. As cliché as it sounds, it's about what you learn from those mistakes.
Here's the thing, we don't know any marketers that have no failures. We know marketers who are too interested in their ego to admit to their failures, but we all have them. In fact, digital marketing is basically built on failures and lessons learnt.
It's how we test, experiment, learn and improve. Every day, it's about optimising, finding ways to make things better. But it all usually starts with finding out what works and what doesn't. Each of our failures of what doesn't work, simply helps us figure out exactly what does.

Today's episode is all about increasing your engagement on social media. We've been helping brands online since 2008 at Social INK, so as you can imagine, we've seen a thing or two along the way.
One of the biggest complaints we hear is brands complaining that the engagement levels on social media are terrible-to-non-existent.
But usually, we dig a little deeper than that. And one of our questions to brands is, when was the last time you asked your audience to engage?
It sounds so simple, but here it is, why would anyone engage with your brand if they don't feel like welcome to do so. You're trying to build a community online, right? So, let's invite everyone in. Let's make it welcoming, let's encourage conversation, debate, or sharing.

Today's episode is all about how your customers should be at the forefront of what you're doing. It doesn't matter if it's for your marketing, your product development or your company in general. Putting your customer at the heart of everything you do always pays dividends.
Dionysia McPherson, from PaperForm, and her husband, Dean, know how important this is. In fact, Dionysia has spent many hours, days and weeks, running 1-2-1 sessions with their clients just to make sure she really understands them.
This isn't just as simple as checking the support tickets, although she does believe that all their employees should spend some time on customer support (to really understand who they're working for in the first place). She's even had to wake up in the middle of the night, just to take 1-2-1 calls to better understand her customers on the other side of the planet.
Now, that's dedication. What can you learn from this? Simple! It's all about getting to know, and understanding, your customers intimately.
