Host Wyatt Cox brings the best of radio classics back to life with both the passion of a long time (as in more than half a century) fan and the heart of a forty year news man. But more than just “playing the hits”, Wyatt supplements the first hour of each day’s show with historical information on the day and date in history including audio that takes you back to World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. FDR, Eisenhower, JFK, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, LBJ. It’s a true slice of life from not just radio’s past, but America’s past.
Wyatt produces 21 hours a week of freshly minted Classic Radio Theater presentations each week, and each day’s broadcast is timely and entertaining!

    Then The Great Gildersleeve starring Harold Peary, originally broadcast May 27, 1945, 79 years ago,  Bessie Quits. Gildy finally fires Bessie, and is very sorry he's done so!  Maybe he should have hired My Friend Irma Peterson!

    Followed by Fibber McGee and Molly, originally broadcast May 27, 1947, 77 years ago, Shrimps McGee. No, McGee isn’t short.   Fibber's in the kitchen, cooking up his recipe for "Shrimps McGee." 

    Then The Joan Davis Show, originally broadcast May 27, 1946, 78 years ago, Last Show of the Season.   Joan is planning to go on vacation. Will she visit a ranch, Moon Mountain or the sea shore?  No audience for this rehearsal recording. 

    Followed by Jack Benny, originally broadcast May 27, 1951, 73 years ago.  Jack goes to the doctor, and meets "Speedy" Riggs getting his eyes examined. Fascinating listening as Riggs gets to do more than just "chant," he even sings!

    Finally Claudia, originally broadcast May 27, 1948, 76 years ago, Mr. Reynolds.  A stranger wanders onto the farm curious about the remodeling.

    Followed by My Friend Irma starring Marie Wilson, originally broadcast May 26, 1953, 71 years ago, Free Trip to Europe.    Irma has won an all-expense-paid trip to England. 

    Then Jimmy Durante, originally broadcast May 26, 1948, 76 years ago.   Jimmy and guest Victor Moore take another of their musical political trips around the country. 

    Followed by Amos ‘n’ Andy, originally broadcast May 26, 1944, 80 years ago, Andy the Fugitive.   Andy has fallen for Mabel Green, a girl with a tough sailor for a boyfriend. When the sailor comes looking for Andy, The Kingfish tries to get him thrown in jail for safekeeping.

    Finally Superman, originally broadcast May 26, 1941, 83 years ago,  Mr. Deutch and the Radium Mine.  "Dr. Deutch" sets a trap for Clark Kent, and a second trap for Lois Lane and Perry White. There's a bomb hidden in a typewriter!

    Then Suspense, originally broadcast May 25, 1943, 81 years ago, Sorry Wrong Number starring Agnes Moorehead. The first broadcast of this thriller classic. Possibly the best-remembered program of the series. An invalid woman battles the frustrations of the telephone system after she overhears a plot to murder someone!  The show would be produced seven more times between 1943 and 1960.

    Followed by another episode of Suspense, originally broadcast May 25, 1958, 66 years ago, Like, Man, Somebody Dig Me starring Ted (Elliot) Reid.   The adventures of a beatnik, so cool that not even his own lynching blows his wig. 

    Then a quick look at some headlines from 66 years ago, then Yours Truly Johnny Dollar starring Bob Bailey, originally broadcast May 25, 1958, 66 years ago, The Midnight Sun Matter. Johnny's flying in a cargo plane over Alaska with a load of dynamite...when the pilot gets appendicitis!

    Followed by another episode of Yours Truly Johnny Dollar starring John Lund, originally broadcast May 25, 1954, 70 years ago,  The Punctilious Firebug Matter.  A firebug strikes promptly on Tuesday nights, and only at those with new fire insurance policies! 

    Finally Claudia, originally broadcast May 25, 1948, 76 years ago, A Mysterious Trip.  A walk in New York City. Will actress Claudia stage a comeback?

    Then Suspense, originally broadcast May 24, 1954, 70 years ago, Weekend Special: Death starring Agnes Moorehead.  A tangle with a telephone operator when she finds herself trapped in a supermarket with two safecrackers. 

    Followed by Mr. District Attorney starring David Brian, originally broadcast May 24, 1953, 71 years ago, The Case of the Moving Van Murders. A man surprises two house thieves while they are stealing his furniture, which leads to a death in the park.  

    Finally Claudia, originally broadcast May 24, 1948, 76 years ago, A Letter at Breakfast.  Claudia's not around and Claudia's cheerful. Claudia's secret letter.

    Then Counterspy starring Don MacLaughlin and Mandel Kramer, originally broadcast May 23, 1948, 76 years ago, The Case of the Housing Racket.   A crooked home builder post World War II sold substandard houses to returning GI’s.  The counterspies get called in to investigate. 

    Followed by The Lives of Harry Lime starring Orson Welles, originally broadcast May 23, 1952, 72 years ago, Murder on the Riviera. Harry's smuggling cigarettes in postwar France and meets a young a girl called "Stupid" with a corpse and 15 million francs. 

    Finally Superman, originally broadcast May 23, 1941, 83 years ago, The Grayson Submarine. . "Dr. Deutch" and Hans make it safely to their new hideout. There is a traitor on the naval base!
