Fri, 26 May 2023 - 24min - 123 - How Gerren Sprauve went from the Insurance Industry to Helping People Fuel Their Drive With Every Assignment Ep. 119
Gerren Sprauve is originally from the United States Virgin Islands.
For much of his life Gerren has been an ambassador for others, always looking out for those in need, less fortunate, etc. Gerren has always simply wanted to do good. Due to choices made, experiences had and the ultimate labels he placed on them in his mind, he struggled to value himself. And like many of us out there, Gerren decided to build a business to mask much of what was going on on the inside. The industry he chose. The name of his business. They all pointed to something he was experiencing and after, but he ran, hoping to do good vs find the good within.
Life has changed for Gerren, now that he's surrendered to doing the personal work necessary to help him experience the good that was always there.

Brandon Hatton began his career in the financial services industry, working tirelessly for one of the world's largest investment and wealth management firms, Merrill Lynch. However, he soon realized that his fixation on creating wealth had destroyed his health, relationships and sense of self. He knew that, for many like him, in the quest to have ‘enough’, people often fail to realize that they are enough. Brandon became determined to find a win-win approach to wealth management in order to help people thrive in the broader sense of the term. As such, he began to pivot from traditional wealth management to a more conscious approach. Brandon founded Conscious Wealth® to provide a framework around money that allows people to focus on what matters: a life of growth and fulfillment, rather than a life of endless desire and insecurity.

Tue, 28 Mar 2023 - 17min - 116 - Empowering Digital Creators with Craig Swanson Ep. 112
Craig Swanson can pull back the veil of wizardry on founding CreativeLive as well as partnering to push course creators like Sue Bryce, Susan Stripling, and Kaisa Keranen to the multi-million dollar mark, and even acquisition.
A couple particular anecdotes that he could cover:
Listening as a Superpower to Scale – with KaisaFit, Craig learned that listening is truly your biggest superpower to scale a business. When you implement a strategy that gathers massive amounts of feedback from your customers, they are essentially handing you the keys to growth. He could break down how he helped sell $1,135,812 of KaisaFits’ $29 Mobility Program in 18 months for your listeners; walking them through their aggressive review strategy, learnings from a 0.8% refund rate, and pricing considerations.
How to Scale Without Swelling – When Craig and the team at Sue Bryce Education underwent due diligence for acquisition, they failed (the first time). The standout criticism was that they weren't preparing the business to run without the flagship founder, Sue Bryce. Instead, they were adding complexity that required critical participation from her and leadership. Craig would love to help your listeners learn from this case, and his time growing CreativeLive, to share how entrepreneurs can scale without swelling, building a business that lifts weight from the original founder(s).

It’s this same love of food that he shares daily with the Los Angeles community - both with his customers at The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills and his vast network of top LA chefs that come to Dom for his pastas, sauces, tapenades, stuffed peppers, pestos and more, all sold under his Domenico’s Foods brand (named after his grandfather).
But his pathway to his current day success wasn’t a totally smooth one. After graduating from USC in the late 90s, Dom took a job as an assistant with a big LA public relations agency (a job he admittedly was not cut out for) while also working in the butcher department of Bristol Farms on weekends for minimum wage. After departing the agency, Dom eventually landed his first real food industry job at The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, one of the first bona fide cheese stores in the country, where he traveled to and from by bus (lacking the money for a car). Over the next 20 years working at the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills (which he now owns after purchasing it in 2022 from his mentor and the Store's previous owner of 44 years), Dom not only became one of the city’s foremost authorities on cheese; it’s also where he met and proposed to his wife and launched his successful Domenico’s Foods brand, which started with the sale of his sun-dried tomatoes, based on a family recipe handed down for generations, at the Cheese Store.
Dom is also the leading importer of Italian gourmet products in Los Angeles (he personally visits Italy to curate food products from small producers who make exceptional products not widely available in the United States). He consults and maintains relationships with some of the top food purveyors, restaurants and chefs in the world, continually creating and searching for new and interesting products to introduce to his customers.

Thu, 05 Jan 2023 - 21min - 105 - Susan Drumm Explores Neural Pathways and Music Ep. 101
Hi, I’m Susan, CEO and Leadership Coach
Change can be scary. Or it can be an opportunity. The enlightened leader capitalizes on opportunities in a way that serves humanity.
My mission is to help visionary leaders find their path to Enlightened Leadership – their unique leadership growth path and the blind spots that could get in the way.
Sometimes, that means making a radical, necessary change that others may view as “crazy.”
For me, this moment of radical change happened at age 30, when I decided to take a hiatus from my corporate career to get a Master’s degree in acting from the London School of Music and Dramatic Arts.
Here I was, a graduate from Harvard Law School, with a successful career in business, having worked for companies like GE/NBC, and I hit pause on my momentum to pursue… an advanced degree in acting?
I didn’t know what lay ahead of me, but I followed my gut anyway (despite plenty of people telling me I was crazy).
It turned out to be one of the best career moves I’ve ever made. Because it gave me the tools to help leaders make a meaningful difference in the world.
I learned fundamental lessons about authenticity, being present, connecting with others, and dealing with your inner critic.
Eventually, these lessons gave me a unique take on how to be an effective leader.
And as a result, these lessons led me to a coaching path, working with billionaire CEOs, prominent Fortune 50 executive teams, and incredible entrepreneurs who set out to disrupt their marketplace.
Bottom line?
My most radical decisions helped me become someone who can coach others to make their own gutsy (but crucial) decisions.

Tue, 29 Nov 2022 - 20min - 100 - How Edgar Blazona Disrupted The Furniture Industry with Benchmade Modern Ep. 96
Edgar Blazona is a modernist American furniture designer and founder of wildly popular DTC sofa brand BenchMade Modern. A high school dropout, turned graffiti artist, turned serial entrepreneur, Edgar got his start in the furniture industry because of need: he was young and broke, and his first apartment didn’t have any furniture. Thus, he taught himself how to build some.
Along with starting several (!) of his own companies, including Modular Dwellings – a prefab backyard shelter company, Edgar also sharpened his skills in the corporate world at Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. As he saw customers accustomed to waiting three months (and more!) for sofas and sectionals that realistically take only a few weeks to make, he realized there must be a better way and founded BenchMade Modern in 2015 to disrupt this norm.
BenchMade Modern offers sofas and sectionals in 5” increments and custom configurations, depths, fabrics and more. Custom furniture arrives at your doorstep within weeks, not months.

Tue, 11 Oct 2022 - 17min - 93 - How Alex Feldman Grew Their Small Family Optical Shop to A Luxury Eyewear Brand Ep. 89
As Founder and CEO of Alexander Daas, Alex Feldman drives the vision and growth of the brand, including its design and distribution, retail presence and ecommerce business. Feldman grew up in the business of opticianry, with his parents owning a small optical shop in San Francisco, California.
In 2006 Feldman bought out his parent’s small business and began growing the company. After over a decade of working on the sales floor and styling thousands of politicians, athletes, celebrities, locals and more, Feldman found a gap in high-end eyewear and launched his eyewear brand Alexander Daas. The collection focused on styles to fit narrow/petite faces––giving adults freedom from buying children’s frames––a huge unmet need in independent luxury eyewear. Since then, he has grown retail operations with storefronts in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, and recently online at AlexanderDaas.com.
Feldman continues to build on his vision of opening luxury shops in quaint neighborhoods that feature skilled eyewear stylists, representing a true intersection of the medical and fashion industries.
Feldman graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology. When he’s not designing and developing new eyewear styles or connecting with the luxury eyewear community, you can find him spending time with his wife and three boys (their so called in-house “basketball team”), watching Rocky and traveling.

Tue, 30 Aug 2022 - 18min - 87 - The Crossrope Story: From a One-Man Operation to a Leading Fitness Brand with David Hunt Ep. 83
In 2011, I suffered a severe injury. I tore a pectoral muscle while bench pressing. I was shocked and angry at myself. Why, 7 years after college sports, was I lifting heavy weights? Now, as an instructor pilot in the Navy, I couldn't fly, I couldn't workout, and I had a painful surgery and long recovery ahead. I was consumed with sadness and self-loathing.
Leading up to this incident, I was a skeptic. I'd roll my eyes at stories of silver linings and turning lemons to lemonade. Sure, there might be some good outcomes from a 'positive mental attitude,' but not in most cases. My first reaction was to dwell on my misery and irresponsibility.
But I had an entrepreneurial itch. Was this the best opportunity to take a shot at creating something with energy, inspiration, and purpose?
During my Naval career, jumping rope became my favorite fitness tool. It was portable for all my traveling and always a fun challenge compared to boring cardio routines.
Even better - I discovered weighted ropes. An amazing workout I didn't know existed. The ones I used broke due to terrible designs, but a seed was planted.
What about a Cross-training jump rope? Amazing quality with ropes that can be swapped to provide an awesome variety of jump rope fitness experiences ... 'Crossrope.'
I didn't have any business or fitness industry experience. Just a library card and determination. Many founders are touted as visionaries who saw the future and took bold action. I laugh because my experience has been the opposite. I began fearful of failure, but now Crossrope has far eclipsed what I could have imagined. That is a testament to the incredible team we've built that brings energy, talent, and purpose. Crossrope is definitely a different way to find joy in getting healthy and staying fit.
Though there are many influences shaping our culture, but I love our core value of striving for continuous improvement. We bring enthusiastic efforts to employee experience, customer experience, and product development, synthesizing internal innovative ideas with customer feedback. It's been incredible to see the life-changing experience shares of our customers, the successes of our team, and momentum of Crossrope. I'm filled with gratitude every day and excited for the path we're on.
If the idea of striving to become world-class at what you do in support of a mission to bring joy, confidence, and inspiration through jump rope fitness sounds interesting, take a look at our job openings or shoot me a note. We're excited to continue building an amazing team!

Tue, 12 Apr 2022 - 26min - 68 - How Robert Orion Sikes Built the Keto Brick Ep. 64
Robert Orion Sikes is a lifetime natural, competitive bodybuilder. He started training as a junior in high school weighing a whopping 115 pounds. In the beginning, he followed traditional, “bro-dieting” wisdom which consisted of eating 6 or 7 meals a day filled with carbohydrates and very high protein. This nutritional protocol led to a downward spiral of health issues and disordered eating.
After his third bodybuilding competition, Robert decided to try something new and began experimenting with a high fat, strict ketogenic approach to bodybuilding. He formulated his own approach to contest prep nutrition leveraging keto and earned his pro-status with bodybuilding in 2017.
He has since dedicated his life to learning and teaching others the benefits of following a well formulated, ketogenic lifestyle. The lessons learned led to his creation of the Keto Brick, a 1,000 calorie, ketogenic performance meal.
Robert now works alongside his wife Crystal and their amazing team to continually create content and add a ton of value within this community. His mission is, and will continue to be, empowering others to believe in themselves and truly tap into their full potential by optimizing their body and mind.

Tue, 18 Jan 2022 - 20min - 56 - What Inspired Liz Edlich To Start A Skincare Company Ep. 52
Liz Edlich is a self-made entrepreneur, published author, and philanthropist who splits her time between Little Exuma, Bahamas, and Malibu, CA.
She grew up on a farm in Virginia, the daughter of a world-renowned reconstructive surgeon who dedicated his life to helping others through his biomedical inventions such as Steri-Strips and dissolvable sutures. Inspired by her father’s work, Liz put herself through college while working odd jobs, and volunteering her time in the non-profit sector. After her father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and became paralyzed from the neck down, she saw her family come to the brink of financial ruin and was inspired to go into finance to help her family and protect others from a similar fate.
With no formal education in business or finance and through sheer determination and perseverance, she became a stockbroker and eventually a partner in an investment firm where she helped raise over $1 Billion dollars, before selling the firm to a bank and going into Venture Capital. Eventually, this led Liz and her sister Rachel to create One World Live, a consumer marketing company that developed and launched hundreds of products for celebrities and influencers in the Beauty and Wellness industries.
In 2009, Liz and Rachel were hit with a perfect storm when Rachel developed severe rosacea after her second child and Liz developed adult acne and signs of aging. Their search for a solution hit a dead end. Refusing to accept the unacceptable, Liz and Rachel, with the help of their father, went back to the lab with the goal of creating the most potent anti-aging skincare possible that could create visible results for Liz and heal and calm Rachel’s chronic rosacea. They developed a proprietary technology, Trylacel, that combined groundbreaking science with the power to deliver potent ingredients without irritation. They never intended to sell their healing youth elixir, but after seeing reactions to their unbelievable results, they knew it had to be shared with the world.
Having no experience in international sales or retail they brought together a dream team of chemists and talent from Clarins, Estee Lauder, Dior, and Clinique. In just three years Radical Skincare launched globally into 800 prestige retail stores across 17 countries including Harrods, Barneys NY, Saks 5th Avenue, and Sephora. Radical Skincare, a womenowned global powerhouse, enjoyed numerous awards and became a press darling, receiving accolades from Oprah Magazine, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Vanity Fair. But despite working with the best brand management and retail partners in the world, Liz and Rachel knew they needed more in order to make Radical a movement that would transform not just skin, but people’s lives. They knew that the best path forward wasn’t in retail, but to bring Radical into people’s homes and hearts so they could share their passion and profits with other emerging entrepreneurial women like themselves. They decided to risk everything, leave the establishment and follow the heartbeat of their mission by buying their company back and continue their journey of fulfilling their legacy of making a Radical difference.
Their goal is to merge skincare and self-care, so people can create a life-changing formula using Radical Skincare, Radical Rituals, and their book, Get Radical: Secrets to Living a Life You Love, as a guide that delivers Radical Results - in skincare and in life.

Tue, 28 Sep 2021 - 19min - 40 - How to start your own Co-Working Business with Felena Hanson Ep. 36
As women, we give so much of ourselves as we move through the many transitions in our lives – off to college, first job, marriage, children, career path, divorce, layoffs, business launch, business fail, empty nest, illness, etc. Because women are often the glue that holds everything together, it’s easy for us to push through each phase with a focus on others—forgetting who “WE” really are and what “WE” really want out of life.
The path to reinvention can take many forms—from listening to an inner voice, to recognizing an unexpected opportunity, to challenging and overcoming either self-doubt or the status quo. Reinventing doesn’t mean devaluing or eliminating all that came before you. In fact, all of the decisions, insights, struggles, triumphs, achievements, and disappointments have made you the valuable person you are—and are the building blocks for the person you are to become.
It can sometimes feel daunting to take, what can feel like, a big leap into the next phase of your life, so in this hands-on workshop Felena Hanson will help guide you through a simple process to match your experiences, talents, and passions with market opportunity— so that you may take that step into the next beautiful phase of your life!

Tue, 07 Sep 2021 - 37min - 37 - Tips on Navigating the Publishing Gauntlet with Kevin Anderson Ep. 33
Born and raised on a small farm in a remote area of northern Alberta, Canada. Though I grew up very blue-collar, eventually pursued a career in academia (always enjoyed critical thinking, learning, and teaching). Went to Harvard for grad school with plans to become a professor. Started a tutoring and editing company while there. That company took off, so left academia with my MA. Eventually split the company into a PhD-advisory company and a book-writing/editing/pub-navigation company: Kevin Anderson & Assoc. Wife, four kids aged 5-10. Loving every minute of it all.

Tue, 03 Aug 2021 - 31min - 32 - How to Get Media Attention Without a Publicist with Annie Scranton Ep. 28
Since Annie started Pace PR as a solopreneur in 2010 the company has grown out of her studio apartment with one employee (herself!) into a multi-million dollar business with more than 40 clients spanning the globe and ten employees in multiple office locations. She’s loved the journey and enjoys working with all of her colleagues and clients, even if it’s remotely for right now.
Prior to forming PPR, Annie worked for nearly a decade as a seasoned television producer, booking for major networks such as CNN, Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC & ABC. TV is definitely a specialty of Annie’s, combining her unique understanding of behind-the-scenes television producing, alongside her unparalleled list of contacts. Pace PR has multiple clients on national + local TV every single day, including CNBC, Fox News, HLN, MSNBC, Fox Business Network, Bloomberg TV, and many others.
Highlights of client work include working with travel company darling Away in its first two years of business, assisting with media relations efforts and landing numerous Tier 1 placements for the brand and its founders. One of her most interesting clients was Jeff Ashton, the prosecutor in the highly-publicized Casey Anthony trial. Annie secured him multiple, sought-after interviews upon the end of the trial and Ashton’s retirement, which ultimately resulted in a New York Times bestselling book, Imperfect Justice, which Annie coordinated with her good friend Lisa Sharkey at HarperCollins. They were all thrilled when Lifetime called to make it into a made-for-TV movie starring Rob Lowe.
Annie also spends time speaking on the topics of PR, women in business and the importance of personal branding. Recent conferences and events she has spoken at include Hopperx1 New York City 2019, DIG South Tech Summit 2019 and Startup Grind Global Conference 2020. She will also be speaking at INBOUND 2020 later this year.
In 2019, she also spoke at the Women Impact Tech Conference, where she honored and humbled to introduce keynote Arianna Huffington, who couldn’t have been lovelier and has left an indelible mark on Annie!
Annie has also had experience writing for various outlets, including the Asbury Park Press, Huffington Post, Law360, PR News and many others. She’s also recently been enjoying talking on different podcasts about her entrepreneurial journey.
Annie is a graduate of Smith College where she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the weekly newspaper, The Sophian. She also received her Masters in Public Relations from New York University in 2018 and taught Introduction to Media Relations for one year at Hofstra University. She has given numerous guest lectures at various universities in and around NYC. Annie also recently served on the Board of Directors for the New York Smith College Club and the Executive Committee for the Catholic Big Sisters & Big Brothers. She is also a member of the New York Women in Communications, The Step Up Network and Ladies who Launch.
Annie and her husband Michael live in Manhattan and are raising their adorable young daughter Rose. In her free time (which isn’t much) Annie enjoys puzzles, audio books and riding her Peloton.
