- 926 - Seahawks Fans Are Feeling Playoff Vibes This Season
A recent poll by SB Nation says that around 70% of Seahawks fans have expectations for the team to make the playoffs in 2024. As a first year head coach, is that a reasonable expectation for Mike Macdonald? What are some of the wild card factors that are playing into a potential Wild Card match? We also take a look at one of the reasons why fans should be excited -- because there aren't a lot of teams who should be considered a "playoff lock." It's such an open playing field that even the Chicago Bears with a rookie quarterback are favorite to make the playoffs.

Mon, 20 May 2024 - 40min - 925 - Breaking down the Seattle Seahawks 2024 Schedule
The 2024 NFL Schedule is out and that means we have at least 18 weeks of Seahawks football planned out for the fall. We give a mini preview of each week's slate of matchups before getting into what everyone really wants to know -- how the NFL is out to ensure our Seahawks get buried in the standings. While the schedule is front-loaded with a lot of home matchups, Seattle's opponents are getting consistently more days to prepare for their games. We also discuss which games should be circled on the calendar and where we want to see our throwback uniforms highlighted.

Sun, 12 May 2024 - 29min - 923 - 433: The 2024 Seahawks Draft Class - By the Numbers
As the dust settles on the 2024 NFL Draft, we dissect the Seahawks' draft strategy and the potential impact of the new recruits. A post draft show means draft calls! We hear the players' reactions and we talk about the numbers they'll be playing in. What does each player need to do to become the greatest Seahawks player to wear that number. Can they do it?
In the second half of the show, we talk about our Rookie Minicamp takeaways and why Mike Macdonald might be acting like Pete Carroll's age when it comes to running a practice. Austin Rivers made some waves this week talking about how NFL players would fare in the NBA and vice versa. But which sport would be the most difficult for any professional athlete to transition to and which athletes have the best chance to make it in all other sports?
Do Better call outs go toward any writers still trying to trade the Seahawks best players and to a Niners Nation writer for hyping an odd signing for the 49ers. Tune in to hear why Better at Life honors go to John Schneider and to our listeners for helping us reach a big milestone.

Thu, 09 May 2024 - 1h 27min - 922 - Do the Seahawks have a Top 5 Draft and UDFA Class?
EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football returns to the show to break down the Seahawks draft class from his perspective. Did the Seahawks have any other choice but to draft Byron Murphy with their first round pick? EJ reveals where he had Christian Haynes graded out as a "true guard" among his list of draftable guards. Tyrice Knight may have been a head scratcher for some, but it was not a surprise for EJ based on the types of things he was asked to do in college. We go through the Seahawks draft class including the undrafted free agent (UDFA) class and talk about some of the players we see as most likely able to make the team and if they may be a better fit at a different position from college.

Fri, 03 May 2024 - 54min - 921 - Seahawks Draft for Need and Versatility with the 2024 Class
The Seahawks 2024 Draft Class is set and there were a few common themes that jumped out from their draft strategy. First, this may have been the most need-based draft the Seahawks have produced in recent years. They picked guards that play guard, they addressed the defensive line and linebacker all within their first few picks. Second, with many of these picks, they talked about their versatility. Does it give us some clues about what they may have planned for the offense and defense? We run through each of the day 3 picks and talk about some of our overall thoughts on this year's class.

Mon, 29 Apr 2024 - 55min - 920 - Christian Haynes, Round 3 Guard Who Played Guard, Joins the Seahawks
It's a lot easier to project where a player will play in the NFL when they start at one position their entire college career. Christian Haynes is simply a right guard who was a four-year starter at the University of Connecticut. We discuss his athleticism that stood out in his workouts as well as on the field and how his play could provide an immediate upgrade for the Seahawks in the screen game. Will he supplant Anthony Bradford immediately this year? Plus, we discuss a couple names we're going to watch for with the Seahawks next two picks in the fourth round.

Sat, 27 Apr 2024 - 21min - 919 - Byron Murphy II, the top iDL of the 2024 NFL Draft, joins the Seahawks
The top half of the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft skewed heavily toward the offense. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and offensive tackles made up the top 12 picks. Seattle stayed put as Byron Murphy II, the top interior defender in the draft, fell to them with the 16th overall pick. After taking Devon Witherspoon last year, the Seahawks have now taken the second defensive player off the board in back-to-back drafts. How will Murphy fit into a rotation that already includes Jarran Reed, Leonard Williams, Dre'Mont Jones, Johnathan Hankins, Cam Young, Mike Morris and Myles Adams?

Fri, 26 Apr 2024 - 18min - 918 - 2024 NFL Draft Quarterback Class: Where Should the Seahawks Jump In?
Through the first three parts of our 2024 quarterback draft series, we've evaluated the top late-round picks all the way up to the QBs at the top of the draft. But where should the Seahawks get involved? It's possible at least four quarterbacks come off the board in the top 10. It could be even more, based on the number of QB-needy teams and the talent available. What would it take for the Seahawks to get into the top 10? If that's too spicy, would it be worth it to jump ahead of the Denver Broncos? Of course, John Schneider could just wait and see what shakes out -- then take one of the biggest sleepers among our top seven quarterbacks.

Wed, 24 Apr 2024 - 30min - 917 - Top 3 QBs in the 2024 NFL Draft
In the third part of our look at the quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL draft, we get into Adam's top three. With the focus primarily toward a QB's floor than his ceiling, the list ranks out differently than many might expect. While others are focused on playing off schedule, the ability to change arm angles and some of the 'wow' moments--we focus more on the things that make solid pro quarterbacks. How do Bo Nix, Jaden Daniels, and Drake Maye rank out? We discuss their strengths, weaknesses and potential in the NFL.

We get into the upside and downside of four different quarterbacks in the second part of our series detailing this year's draft picks. And while we rank out JJ McCarthy, Caleb Williams, Michael Penix and Jordan Travis, some will need time or coaching to have the best opportunity to succeed.

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 - 1h 05min - 914 - 2024 NFL Draft Quarterback Evaluations: The Outsiders (Part 1)
Throughout the years, even if the Seahawks have needed a quarterback or not, we like to go through the latest crop of NFL quarterback candidates and pick out our favorites. Adam's track record has been solid and rather than bury it in one of our flagship episodes, we're giving it it's own series. In part, because of the amount of depth in this year's 2024 class. We talk about the methodology for evaluating a quarterback, a couple of quarterbacks who may go late or undrafted, and where some of the other QBs may fit. This group fell outside of the Top 7 quarterbacks we'll be talking about on future episodes.

Mon, 08 Apr 2024 - 31min - 913 - Draft month begins! Versatility may be the Seahawks theme
The Seahawks signed a veteran receiver Laviska Shenault to the roster this past week. Should we read into the signing as to what may be in store for the Seahawks offense, or is he some insurance in case another receiver doesn't work out? John Schneider was on the radio this week and talked in generalities about the draft and based on his comments, we aren't likely to see any drastic changes in draft strategy. It's clear to fans the team could use a versatile offensive lineman early in the draft, but will the Seahawks general manager follow that same line of thought?

Mon, 01 Apr 2024 - 39min - 911 - NFL Rule Changes, Latest Seahawks News and Rumors
The NFL passed some new rules this week around bringing the kickoff back into the game and taking out swivel hip drop tackles. Seems like a fair trade off. We're getting closer to having a sky judge with another rule change that, if it goes well, most of us won't even notice that it's working. General Manager John Schneider says the offensive line is a work in progress, but there isn't much that can be done to improve it apart from the draft. But the draft won't be able to fix the amount of inexperience on the line heading into the 2024 season. Coach Mike Macdonald says the defense needs a solid spine. That could be another area that could continue to be improved through the draft. Finally, the waffles versus pancakes debate should be over. But is it time to introduce a new entrant into the mix?

Fri, 29 Mar 2024 - 56min - 910 - 432: Grading the NFC West in Free Agency
Now that the NFC West has passed through the first couple waves of free agency, we run down some of the biggest moves by the Seattle Seahawks competitors. Did the Los Angeles Rams win free agency by spending on the offensive line? Or are they the biggest losers because their Hall of Fame defender decided to pack up his locker and call it a career? The Arizona Cardinals have four new starters in the trenches. It would be bigger news if they were players you've actually heard of. Plus, they may have made the most boneheaded trade in the entire conference. Then there's the San Francisco 49ers. They're making some key moves, but they didn't do the one thing that could help them overcome a devastating Super Bowl loss.
We take a look at a few areas the Seahawks still need to address through free agency and the draft. Plus, we clear any confusion surrounding the role of Pete Carroll and the Seahawks organization moving forward. Mike Macdonald and John Schneider are working to clear up any confusion around which player is the starting quarterback between Geno Smith and Sam Howell.
In the second half of the show, the take a look at the proposed rule against hip drop tackles and some language that is important to identifying the types of tackles the NFL is trying to get out of the game. A Rams fan who doesn't understand the position of nose tackle and the Seahawks front office both land in this week's Do Better segment. We profile a Missouri-based company as well as a Montana-based organization for their Better at Life worthy actions.

Tue, 26 Mar 2024 - 1h 28min - 909 - 2024 Seahawks Free Agency - What Holes are Left to Fill?
In the past week the Seahawks made a move to fill a large hole in the defensive line. The addition of Johnathan Hankins adds some beef, but have the Seahawks done enough yet to satisfy all aspects of the trenches? They also added another linebacker and some safety depth. What do those additions mean to the overall strength of the team and their ability to improve the defense in 2024. Which signing has been our least favorite of free agency so far and what narrative around Sam Howell coming to the Seahawks has us concerned?

Thu, 21 Mar 2024 - 53min - 908 - Seahawks trade for a QB, sign multiple free agents
Days into free agency, the Seattle Seahawks have worked to try and fill holes at positions of need. They needed a backup quarterback with Drew Lock heading to New York, and now they have Sam Howell after swapping picks with Washington. George Fant is returning to the Seahawks, but will he be able to find his way into a starting role? Seattle signed a center/guard, a safety and a linebacker. Are they clear improvements or a sign of the franchise rebuilding? Plus they made moves to bring back Artie Burns, Darrell Taylor and D'Wayne Eskridge.

Tue, 12 Mar 2024 - 42min - 906 - Rating the Seahawks 'Cupboards' Ahead of Free Agency
We are days away from the start of the NFL's new league year and the beginning of free agency. Where do the Seahawks currently stand with players currently under contract? Seattle has depth at running back, wide receiver and cornerback. However, it's quite the opposite when it comes to tight end, interior offensive line and linebacker. Based on the areas where they're deficient, it should make it clear where they'll attack free agency and potentially the draft.

Dan Viens of the Seahawks Forever podcast joins the show to look ahead at this week's NFL Combine. Which position groups is he most interested in for Seattle as we head into draft season? Considering the coaching change, have we seen the last of Bobby Wagner for the Seahawks? Saturday is generally the best day to watch in terms of offensive players, but the team needs for quarterback, running back and wide receiver are relatively low. Michael Penix is expected to throw, which is exciting considering the condition we saw him in following the National Championship. Finally, Dan thinks the Seahawks should take Mike Holmgren's advice on how to balance age vs experience when building a team.

Sat, 24 Feb 2024 - 20min - 898 - 431: Niners lose Super Bowl, Seahawks fill their coordinator spots
A week after the Super Bowl and we're still celebrating a 49ers loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. For a third time, Kyle Shanahan has been involved in a game where he's been up 10+ points and lost. Despite reports of players not knowing the overtime rules and whether or not the 49ers took the ball first, does it even really matter? Did it even matter that the overtime rules have changed? It seemed like the 49ers were simply destined to lose that game based on several second half misfires.
The Seahawks new coaching staff is taking shape and we heard from Ryan Grubb, Aden Durde and Jay Harbaugh this past week. Which hire represents the biggest risk among the group and what are some common themes now that we see the leadership of the staff coming together? Geno Smith continues to be under contract, but is he here to stay for the long term? We discuss why we may be in for a couple months of Geno Smith trade talk leading up to the draft.
There are two former Seahawks entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame after last week's announcements. There are a couple members of the Legion of Boom who look to be a lock and one who could get snubbed based on how we've seen voting go historically. Plus, we announce this year's pick'em league champion! Pro Football Focus gets called out along with a list of the best Super Bowl halftimes in the Do Better segment. While Better at Life honors go out to a Bay Area headline writer and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Mike Macdonald held his first press conference as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks along with General Manager John Schneider on Thursday. We talk about the moments that stood out from his opening remarks, his thoughts on what he wants to bring to continue to build on the team's culture, and how he plans to continue calling plays. Do his words suggest that he has a plan for what the Seahawks could do at the quarterback spot? And what was behind the wardrobe choice? Plus we summarize some of his radio show appearances that gave us a bit more information we didn't hear from the press conference.

Only two head coaching positions remain open in the NFL. Are the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders waiting to see the final results of the playoffs before selecting their candidate? Raheem Morris was a candidate for a second interview, but is now the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. A pair of top coaching candidates may come with offensive coordinators who are less than idea. Fri, 26 Jan 2024 - 1h 17min - 888 - 430: Potential new Seahawks coaches -- Thank you Pete Carroll!
The Seahawks organization is searching for a head coach for the first time since 2010. We take a look at several names who have interviewed with the team and a couple other coaches who are linked to the team. We talk about what intrigues us, and what we don't like about: Cowboys Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn (03:00), Rams DC Raheem Morris (03:13), Texans Offensive Coordinator Bobby Slowik (13:08), Lions OC Ben Johnson (18:00), Panthers DC Ejiro Evero (22:18), Raiders DC Patrick Graham (25:39), Dolphins OC Frank Smith (30:19), Giants OC Mike Kafka (33:13), Former Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel (37:48), Ravens DC Mike Macdonald (41:02), and Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh (56:32).
In the second half of the show, we talk about Geno Smith's contract and what it means for coming back to the Seahawks in 2024. We take some emails and comments about Pete Carroll and what he meant for fans. Has the culture he developed become a "comfortable old shoe" in need of replacement? We talk playoffs and how the Detroit Lions need to 'Do Better' and how Sports Illustrated's website is now a pop-up ad farm. We close with Better at Life honors going out to the winningest head coach in Seahawks history.

Wed, 10 Jan 2024 - 1h 07min - 881 - Live & UnCatfished: The End of the 2023 Season
The Seahawks closed out their 2023 season with a victory against the Arizona Cardinals. It was a game that played out like most games this season as the defense gave up a lot on the ground, and the offense was able to pull out a late game-winning drive. Because it was so much like every other game, it bridged toward a lot of discussion about how to move forward in the offseason and changes that need to be made in the offseason.

As the great Yogi Berra famously said... It's Deja Vu all over again. And our Seahawks are once again in need of a Week 18 win and help from the visitors to historic Lambeau Field to get into the playoff dance. We're examining the potential to "fix" the run defense, what Waldron can do to maximize our top offensive weapons, and will we be able to get Kenneth Walker enough attempts so we can once again play Pete Carroll football? A lot of possibilities to consider in what could be the final 'What If' of the season.

Sat, 06 Jan 2024 - 52min - 878 - 429: Your Word of the Day - Jellied
There's a crude joke from many years ago that led to a word often used on the show for a dominant run performance. The Seahawks were 'jellied' by the Steelers this past Sunday and on top of ruining a potential playoff berth, it's also one of the worst ways to lose a football game. The loss highlights an issue that has continued to show up on defense throughout Clint Hurtt's time as the defensive coordinator. Is it a coordinator issue or is it a problem that goes all the way to the top?
Fortunately (or unfortunately) the Seahawks will be tested by a similar running game this week in the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC West rival is coming off a win over last year's conference champion and it offers an opportunity to highlight the difference in coaching versus player performance. Can the Seahawks bounce back after a loss and put the team in a similar position as last year? Will we be cheering on the Bears to victory in hopes our Seahawks can make the playoffs?
After the break we talk about a popular name expected to re-enter the NFL coaching ranks and how unlikely of a fit it would be for the Seahawks. We discuss the potential of a civil war brewing within the show. Which side gets the best caterer? We call out the Seahawks general manager for a missed opportunity recently and to the writer of a Seahawks blog. Better at life honors go out to an elite comment from a Browns player and to the Washington Huskies for their title run.

Wed, 03 Jan 2024 - 59min - 876 - Live & UnCatfished: Steelers build using the Titans blueprint
For the last three weeks of Seahawks football, it was apparent to anyone watching that they were struggling in the trenches. Just last week the Titans nearly got the win by being able to dominate Seattle in the run game. The Pittsburgh Steelers saw that and took full advantage of it in their 30-23 victory over Seattle in Week 17. The Steelers secured another winning season for their head coach Mike Tomlin and it puts into question whether or not Pete Carroll will be able to lead Seattle to a winning season. The blueprint is out on the Seahawks defense and the Cardinals have the capability to use it coming up in Week 18. 3

Mon, 01 Jan 2024 - 22min - 875 - PNW Prop Stars: Seahawks Props to Ring in the New Year
The last few Seahawks and Steelers games have been low scoring affairs. Will the trend continue as the two teams face off? The guys stay away from the receiving props this week for the most part and stick to more of the ground-based milestones. Is there a major discrepancy in the prediction for how many carries the Steelers top running back should get? We did into some of the primary matchups and how we expect the game to play out as the Seahawks look toward a potential playoff berth. Happy New Year to all!

Sat, 30 Dec 2023 - 37min - 874 - What If?... Seahawks Fans get a New Year's Wish
Our Seahawks take on a hard-nosed team that wants to run the ball and attack the quarterback. Will the Steelers be able to get Najee Harris going? Will T.J. Watt have his way vs. Abe Lucas and company? We ask, "What if we make a wish for the New Year?" What would this game look like? We talk about players we would like to succeed (and perhaps get some revenge on their former steelers team) as well as the opposing playmakers who our Seahawks need to stop.

Fri, 29 Dec 2023 - 52min - 873 - Could we see a Russell Wilson reunion in 2024?
Russell Wilson appears to be on his way out of Denver. Is there anything that could make a reunion in Seattle possible? Based on some commentary about Wilson's 2024 contract, the relative cost could be appealing, but would it be worth it? Is Russell Wilson still a starting quarterback or a high level backup. We discuss what it would take for a reunion to be possible in Seattle and if it's something that we would even want.

Fri, 29 Dec 2023 - 20min - 872 - 428: The Consequences of Inconsistency
In the 20-17 win against the Tennessee Titans, we saw some of the inconsistencies of the season continue. Fortunately, it still allowed for the Seahawks to get the win and part of that was attributed this past week to the amount of time Pete Carroll focuses on the two-minute offense. There's one aspect of the late-game offense that is different and Pete was asked this week why the team leads the league in throws to the sidelines. The answer was not satisfactory.
There are two big matchups to watch coming up against the Steelers on Sunday. Mike Tomlin is also looking to continue a career milestone that is coming down to the final two games of the season. Mason Rudolph is set to get the start in place of Kenny Pickett after putting up 30+ against the Bengals. We discuss what went into the Steelers success last week.
The Seahawks do have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot this Sunday. Even though it only involved the outcome in one game apart from the Seahawks, it's not a very likely outcome. Plus, should we be lobbying for the Niners to get the top seed? We talk about the latest Russell Wilson news in the Do Better segment along with some frustrations with a Mac update. Better at life honors go out to one of the FCS Championship teams and to the Seahawks for coming out way ahead on one of the biggest front office moves in team history.

Wed, 27 Dec 2023 - 55min - 870 - Live & UnCatfished: Colby Parkinson Saves Christmas!
Both the Seahawks offensive and defensive lines struggled against a more physical opposition for most of the game. Derrick Henry reminded us that he could still be the same guy who was as tough to bring down as in previous matchups. Fortunately, the Seahawks reminded us that if they have a shot to win the game in the fourth quarter that they're going to take it. After being knocked back from the goal line on a second down run, Geno Smith found Colby Parkinson in the end zone. Despite being mugged, Parkinson came down with the go-ahead touchdown. Finally, with the Titans able to take one last shot to get into field goal range, Riq Woolen made a heads up tackle to run out the final seconds of the clock.

Sun, 24 Dec 2023 - 37min - 868 - 427: Amazing Won't Do It Justice
The Seahawks win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football was one of their most important wins of the season. Not only did it keep them in the race for the playoffs, they showed some level of physical football that we hadn't seen in previous weeks. There was also a question of whether Coach Pete Carroll may not have the support of the locker room as the losses continued to pile up. Even if the Seahawks didn't pull out the win - that question had been answered through the first three quarters of the game.
Drew Lock answered some questions in this game by driving the length of the field in the final two minutes of the game. His post game press conference was an all-timer. However, it sounds like Geno Smith will be ready to come back against the Titans. He finally has a chance to enjoy a full game with Charles Cross and Abe Lucas at the tackle spots. But the Titans are significantly better than the Seahawks in two particular defensive stat lines. Will that be a difference maker when it comes down to which team comes away with the victory?
Will the focus of replacing Pete Carroll shift following the win over the Eagles? Do we need to start looking for a new head coach anyway based on some of the rumors about Dan Quinn? What does a successful head coach even look like? Our pick'em league overlord is pleased this week and we give a shoutout to 9L as requested. Eagles fans need to 'do better' even as one of our own feels as though he can do better. Better at life honors go out to a media member who has Pete's back and to one of the biggest names in national media for avoiding a biased approach at covering Monday Night Football.

Sat, 23 Dec 2023 - 1h 36min - 867 - What If?… We're on the Eve of Success
On the eve of Christmas we're searching for a bit of that holiday magic that can take our Seahawks that much closer to the edge of a successful regular season. Can Seattle take down a beaten-up Titans team? Can DK and JSN go back-to-back after the week they had on Monday night? Will K9 get the volume? Clinton, Brandan and Phil talk about some of the things they'd like to see from the team at this point that would lead us all to believe that the playoffs continue to be a possibility for Pete Carroll and the Seahawks.

With Jamal Adams out due to 'injury,' Seahawks fans got to see Julian Love go up against a quarterback he got to play twice a year during his time with the Giants. Love's two interceptions helped keep the Eagles from putting up points in the fourth quarter and allowed Drew Lock the opportunity to pick up a stat. Ken Walker helped lead the way on a touchdown drive where Seattle just kept running and running, while Lock aired it out to DK and JSN to close out an emotional comeback.

Sat, 16 Dec 2023 - 45min - 862 - 426: The Coach's Attitude Has Shifted
Just one month ago the Seahawks were 6-3 and looking like a relative lock for the playoffs, and considering the Niners had also lost three games to that point it looked like the division title was also within range. One month later, the division title is out of reach, Seattle has a losing record and the playoffs are in question. A week ago, Pete was on the radio talking as if the playoffs were a certainty and this week he's blowing off questions about whether or not his message is getting through to players. What will it take for this team to take a turn?
How the Seahawks play against Philadelphia may well determine how the rest of the season plays out. Can they cut out the 'easy' mistakes from some of the previous weeks? The Eagles defensive line may be a formidable force, but a former Seahawks defensive coach is struggling with a similar problem that Coach Hurtt has been concerned with this year.
Let's say things work out over these next few weeks. Is there one thing to possibly look forward to that a playoff berth can provide? We believe there is. Part of the reason is because Kyle Shanahan needs to Do Better along with a Bay Area reporter who seemingly couldn't wait to pile on DK Metcalf rather than approach the end of the game with any kind of objectivity about the role of one Niners player at the end of the game. Better at life honors go out to a PNW company for bringing us into the future and to a Seahawks player who was honored for his work in the community.

Thu, 14 Dec 2023 - 1h 22min - 861 - 3 IN, 3 OUT: All is Not Lost
Clinton and Brandan discuss the latest loss to the 49ers, the big blow ups and the micro-moments of hope that have Clinton screaming that this season is NOT over and to not lose faith in our Seahawks. However, there are some significant issues to overcome that showed up in the loss to the Niners. Can Pete Carroll shake up his guys on defense, or sit down the guys who aren't getting the job done?

Wed, 13 Dec 2023 - 57min - 860 - Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks vs 49ers Postgame Reaction
Heading into the second game against the 49ers, there was a sense of impending doom, especially when the word went out that Geno may not play. Early on in the game Drew Lock rallied the Seahawks offense and even had Seattle up by 3 points on the Niners. Between the Seahawks defense getting exposed and continued struggles on the offense on third down, it made it difficult to come back once they fell behind. What were some of the biggest areas of concern coming out of this game, and is there still an opportunity to cheer for a possible playoff run? We react following the Seahawks 28-16 loss to the 49ers.

Mon, 11 Dec 2023 - 44min - 859 - PNW Prop Stars: The JSN Progression
Feeling emboldened from last week's offensive showing, Wilson, Adam, and Clinton all lean into some more favorable Seahawks bets and props... but is it a trap? While Adam and Wilson continue to bet on our kicker, Clinton seeks overs and for the progression of JSN to keep on keeping on. And for the first time in PNW history, all three Fail Mary's come in at exactly +1200 ... that's gotta be a sign, right?

Sat, 09 Dec 2023 - 32min - 858 - What If?... The Seahawks Avoid the Re-Pete
Can we avoid the Re-Pete of Thanksgiving? Our Seahawks best be much more prepared for this rematch vs. our storming rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. They're coming in HOT and we are on a big losing streak. Can Christmas come early in Santa Clara for our Seahawks? We traverse all the possibilities and ask 'What if' our Seahawks can avoid the Re-Pete?

Sat, 09 Dec 2023 - 48min - 857 - 425: History is on the line for the Seahawks
The Seahawks have a couple of major milestones on the line and history is on the Seahawks side. Considering the way the San Francisco 49ers have been playing, it would make a victory that much sweeter if past trends hold true. However, if we can't count on historical trends, what would need to change for the Seahawks to be able to compete at the 49ers current level? Is coaching or personnel more of the problem, particularly when we focus on the defense?
We take a look back at the Cowboys game and talk about some of the moments that still stick with us a week later. NFL officiating as a whole continues to be a topic of conversation, especially after a big call went against the Chiefs in a game that helped the Packers join the playoff picture. A Seahawks blog can do better for suggesting that it's time to move on from one of the Seahawks most prolific players and Rich Eisen left a key team out of the playoff conversation this past week. Better at life honors go out to a legendary rock band and a podcast that provided some insight into some of Washington state lore.

Thu, 07 Dec 2023 - 1h 06min - 856 - 3 IN, 3 OUT: S.O.S.S. - Save Our Seahawks Season
In this week's recap of the Cowboys game, we discuss what it might take to keep the great, ditch the lame, and save our Seahawks season. Who gets the out for the final play of the game? Who put Seattle in position to get the victory when they were up by 8 points in the third quarter? Or the more important question, what kind of preventive maintenance needs to be done on the 3D printer, while we go through a drought of MVC trophy creation? Tune in as we run through some of the positives and negatives from last week's game in Dallas.

Tue, 05 Dec 2023 - 1h 01min - 855 - Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Dallas Postgame Reaction
As one area of the team seems to improve and play well, another one takes a step back or fails to make plays in key moments. It's a story of nearly all the losses from this season. The officials made us all know that they were there on the field, too. For a good stretch of the game, we expected to see a flag on the field after every play. Maybe, in part, due to the two most heavily penalized teams playing one another. Were the improvements on offense enough to hold out hope the Seahawks can close out the seasons strong, or did this game tell us all we need to know about who this team is this season?

Maybe we can relax our eyes and enjoy a more complete game on both side of the football. What will it take for our Seahawks to get our groove back and capture a W in Jerry World? Wed, 29 Nov 2023 - 48min - 852 - 424: The NFL's best are good at ONE thing the Seahawks are avoiding
Fans are frustrated and looking for answers after back-to-back losses to division rivals. With the prospects of a playoff push now dimming, should the Seahawks start the firing spree? With that type of move unlikely to happen, we dig into some of the statistics of the NFL's best offensive teams and look at some of the ways the best offenses in the league are scoring the most points, leading in DVOA and also creating explosive plays. Plus, it's something the Seahawks might actually be good at if they just choose to do more of it.
If the Seahawks are going to maintain their playoff hopes, one win over the next three games should keep them in the running. The matchup against the Dallas Cowboys may present their best opportunity. The downside is that Dallas has been one of the NFL's best teams playing at home this season. They've been destroying bad teams on their home turf. If the Seahawks truly are bad, this Thursday's game should tell the story.
The Arizona Cardinals didn't do anything to help our Seahawks with the Rams spot in the NFC West standings. We also may be seeing why they were ok with moving on from Josh Dobbs who had a disaster of a performance against the Chicago Bears. A pair of writers from the Athletic and a legendary actor find themselves in the crosshairs to Do Better. We close with a discussion on why both society and YouTube Premium are better at life than Skip Bayless.

Mon, 27 Nov 2023 - 55min - 850 - Live & UnCatfished: Stewing in Waldron's Cauldron
Earlier in the season, we were overlooking some of offensive coordinator Shane Waldron's play calling issues in the game. In part, it was because the Seahawks were doing well on their scripted plays earlier in the game. With that no longer working, we're left with an offense that continually stalls because they abandon the run game in favor of passing to the perimeter. Are the Seahawks a bad team? We talk about how we'll know for sure after facing the Cowboys this coming Thursday.

Wed, 22 Nov 2023 - 36min - 847 - 423: A Thanksgiving feast…and the NFC West lead
It's a short week, which means there isn't a lot of time to dwell over a loss to the Rams. And why are we dwelling on a loss to the Rams anyway? It's not like we haven't experienced multiple losses to stupid inferior Rams teams in a season before anyway. Even though the Seahawks defense held Stafford and the Rams to just 17 points, is there some blame to be shared by that position group? Shane Waldron seems to struggle situationally, but does it mean he should be fired? We talk about our preferred alternatives.
Even with the loss, the Seahawks are in prime position to take over the NFC West with two matchups against the division rival San Francisco 49ers in the next three weeks. This will be a big challenge and there are similar concerns in this matchup as we saw with the game against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this year. We get into the areas of the game the Seahawks are going to have to improve if they're going to come out ahead versus Frisco.
After the game this week, Geno Smith talked about not getting a play in via his headset. It was part of the reason they chose to run the football in the final seconds. Was there really an issue? Did a play get called or not? One Seahawks defender in particular gets called out to Do Better for a major penalty and Better at Life honors go to a pair of Seahawks for some exceptional moments in Sunday's game against the Rams.

Tue, 21 Nov 2023 - 1h 12min - 846 - Live & UnCatfished: Yet another annoying one
Another game against the Rams, and Pete Carroll and the Seahawks find yet another annoying way to lose. It had set up for a storybook ending. Geno Smith, after taking a hit from Aaron Donald in the third quarter, shed the tape and ice from around his elbow to come in for the final drive of the game. He dealt strikes to Tyler and DK to put the team in position for a great ending (despite a dismal second half of football). Unfortunately, it didn't work out. We react to the loss and there are a lot of catfishes.

Mon, 20 Nov 2023 - 26min - 845 - PNW Prop Stars: Betting on a DK Metcalf explosion
A healthy-ish Stafford, a fully healed Cooper Kupp... and the boys just want to talk DK, K9 and a man named Mafe! Sure McVay has had our number, but you can imagine if he hadn't! This week on PNW Prop Stars we're laying out our favorite nine bets, props, and parlays for Seahawks at Rams and many of us are feeling these DK Metcalf props! Wilson thinks a certain sack streak continues, while Adam taps a namesake to have a big defensive day. Clinton is just smitten with DK so we'll see how that works out! Come enjoy the analysis from a different angle and raise the collective Hawrka as we try to help make you some money while we watch our favorite team go toe-to-toe versus the stupid Rams.

Sat, 18 Nov 2023 - 29min - 844 - 422: Whose House? The Communal House!
The Seahawks got the win against the Washington Commanders, but did they get "back to basics" like players and coaches said the team would? What do we think the team meant by basics? The running backs combined for about 30 touches, but Geno Smith also threw nearly 50 passes. Maybe getting back to basics is winning the turnover battle and really taking care of the ball on offense. Because those things were also true.
Will they be able to keep it going as they travel to LA to take on the Rams? Matthew Stafford is back after being sidelined with a thumb injury. Will the Seahawks defense make an adjustment if the Rams QB isn't able to push the ball down field? Or will McVay continue to have his way against Pete Carroll and the Seahawks defense? With the way Pete was stewing about the loss, it feels like it's time that he'll dig deep to get this win.
The Arizona Cardinals got a win in Kyler Murray's return to the team, but did they give away the better quarterback option for next to nothing in the trade with the Vikings? NFL and their All-22 deserve a call out for Do Better along with an anonymous sports betting site. Better at Life honors go to DK Metcalf and to a group of Flockers.

Last time Stafford was on fire and the world met a boy named Puka. But this Seahawks team is quite different than what the Rams saw Week 1. Will it matter or will McVay continue to best Carroll regardless of who has the superior roster? It's a huge one for our Seahawks with big playoff and division ramifications on the line!

Who were the Seahawks hidden heroes from Sunday's win against the Washington Commanders? Clinton and Adam break down the micro moments from the game and discuss some of their overall feelings after going back through and watching the game again. Of course, "it wasn't all roses" as Clinton often says -- we get into some of those moments, too. How was the screen game a factor versus Washington, and did it come at a cost or compliment the run game? Damien Lewis finds his way onto the highlight reel. Lastly, we answer the question about which running back on the team needs more touches.

Tue, 14 Nov 2023 - 1h 05min - 841 - Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks Lack Consistency Against Commanders
The Seahawks defense played well for at least a half. The Seahawks offence played well for about a half. But neither played well togehter at the same points during the game. It was a wierd one. So even though the team came out ahead, there are still some questions and criticisms about Geno Smith, Shane Waldron, and what is missing on defense. Adam and Clinton reacted to all of it, immediate following the game against the Seahawks and Commanders.

Game 9 and we've got 9 top bets, parlays, and props for Seahawks vs. Commanders just for you... and you. While Clinton believes in a 2nd year wideout from Penn St., Brandan goes with a "scarier" WR option. The boy prince, Wilson, sees bounce back and back to basics meaning it's time for K9 to re-wind to earlier season success. And some how, some way, we've got 2 Fail Mary bets starring 1 Seahawks TE. The Seahawks world is on FIRE and as the "Geno Debate" rages on, Phil, Brandan, and Clinton dive into what will it take for this team to fix what feels like a broken system? Fri, 10 Nov 2023 - 40min - 838 - 421: The Geno Smith Apology Tour
Win or loss (even when we get mullered), this show has been about coming on each and every week to talk about what we saw from the previous week. Even a few days out, a loss like this is frustrating. We discuss the frustration, because one team clearly had a plan for what they wanted to do and the other didn't. Or maybe they did have a plan, but it was completely out of order. Why does the rest of the team owe Geno Smith an apology? Adam breaks down, drive-by-drive, where the fault lies in how each drive got killed.
One of our long-time listeners calls in to ask what we'd need to see from Geno Smith to know when it is time to move on in the middle of the season. There is a distinction between elite, very good, and everyone else and the pieces around the player that can have an impact.
With the Commanders up next, it's a get-right game and Seattle needs to show they can get the run game going. With Geno among the top quarterbacks when running play action, the best opportunity for the Seahawks to finish strong is to do it with Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet sharing the workload. But Washington could apply pressure to this Seattle defense based on the number of offensive weapons they have.
The Seahawks weren't the only NFC West team with a limited amount of offensive production this week. With their backup quarterbacks playing, the Cardinals and Rams struggled to score points. Can Sean McVay get Carson Wentz to return to his former MVP form? A curse wheel and the ex-wife of Earl Thomas need to do better. Better at life honors go out to a team for closing out an historic rivalry in a fun way and for all the 12s hanging in there after a rough game.

Thu, 09 Nov 2023 - 1h 22min - 837 - 3 IN, 3 OUT: 99 Problems and Geno Ain't One
Three positive moments from the Seahawks loss to the Ravens? Is it possible? It may be hard to believe, but we've dug into the nooks and crannies and found enough positive moments to balance out the negative. K9 joined the left side of the line in giving up a 3-on-1 sack. But that wasn't the only time that Charles Cross was on the OUT side. Boye Mafe and Jordyn Brooks were a couple standouts on an otherwise rough defensive day.

Wed, 08 Nov 2023 - 37min - 836 - Live & UnCatfished: Make It Stop!
By the end of a game like this one, the only thing you really want to say is, "make it stop!" The national feed even cut away with around 10 minutes left on the game clock because they wanted to take pity on viewers. Yet, here we re-live some of the moments as we stuck around for the end of the game and stuck around for the aftermath to talk about where things went so badly. We also have some key people to blame for this loss. On the positive side, this loss only counts for one loss in the standings.

Fri, 03 Nov 2023 - 49min - 833 - 420: Seahawks boost the defense at the trade deadline
The Seahawks made a move at the trade deadline to acquire interior defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Did they give up too much considering some of the other moves made around the league for defensive line? We contrast the move with the 49ers acquisition of Chase Young. The move may have come at the perfect time after watching the Browns attack the middle of the field in both the run and the screen game. The defense came up big when they needed to though thanks to the (intentional?) head assist from Jamal Adams.
Which Baltimore Ravens team will the Seahawks face this week? One that dominated the Lions just a couple weeks ago? The one that looked like they barely needed to try hard on offense against the Cardinals? Or will they finally be worn down after multiple road trips in the last few weeks? It's going to be another big test for the defense to face off against Lamar, Gus Edwards and tight end Mark Andrews.
The Rams are continuing to make their way to the bottom of the NFC West after a big loss to the Cowboys and there is uncertainty around Matt Stafford moving forward with a thumb injury. But even with those concerns, Adam still likes the Rams to beat the Packers this upcoming weekend in our picks segment. A couple of national reporters need to do better based on a couple of articles written this past week. Better at life honors go out to a group for continuing to operate as usual and an NFL player giving the stiff arm to his former team.

Plus, we cover the big trade news at the top of the show. What does the addition of Leonard Williams mean for Seattle? Of course we get into the INs, OUTs, and the BrandIN along with what YOU said in the Discord. All that plus of course our very real 3D printed MVC - most valuable cranny will be dished out!

Tue, 31 Oct 2023 - 1h 03min - 831 - Live & UnCatfished: Another Geno Smith Stat
The Seahawks put points up early against the NFL's best defense so far this season. It looked like they could've run away with the game early. However, the offense slowed, DK Metcalf and Geno Smith failed to connect on nine different passes, and penalties killed multiple drives. Some fourth quarter heroics helped put the game away, though. A Seahawks header from Jamal Adams to Julian Love helped set up Geno for a fourth quarter comeback and the defense closed it out. We discuss whether the Seahawks run defense was exposed, and the Seahawks clear offensive approach against Cleveland.

Mon, 30 Oct 2023 - 42min - 830 - PNW Prop Stars: Can Geno Outperform Vs. Browns?
After going 8 out of 9 last week with our "regular" bets and props the boys are back in town and we're throwing down the throwback gauntlet vs. this stingy, yet sporadic(???), Browns defense. Adam wears the crown this week and leads us out this week predicting a fast start for our offense. Wilson is convinced a Browns star is gonna eat, at least a little, and Clinton is still fan-boying over Noah Fant props that have proven to make him some cheddar!

Fri, 27 Oct 2023 - 17min - 828 - What If?... The Seahawks Throw It Back!
The 1990s called and they want ... more Bobo??? We go back in time with six rad categories that help us preview this show in a truly unique way. What "Late Fees" must we avoid? Can Clint Hurtt "Dial Up" the heat on PJ Walker? And what kind of "Alternative Grunge" sounds can our offense create to mitigate the Myles and his monsters along with the Browns defensive line?

Fri, 27 Oct 2023 - 50min - 827 - 419: Boye Mafe Needs to Stay on His Feet
Despite three turnovers against the Arizona Cardinals, the Seahawks were able to pull off a 20-10 victory over their division rivals. Pete Carroll didn't sound as concerned about the turnovers as he did about the one play of the game that Boye Mafe couldn’t run down the quarterback. He made sure to mention it in front of the media multiple times. The Seahawks are going to need Mafe with Nwosu going down to injury (we found out after recording that Frank Clark is returning to Seattle).
A pair of rookie receivers each had a touchdown against the Cards, but does it mean that it is time to consider shopping DK near the trade deadline? With the Cleveland Browns coming into town, Geno Smith is going to be watching out for Myles Garrett. Seattle will need to find an answer to the Browns pass rush to help avoid turning the ball over. The Browns offense has been counting on those defensive plays to help out backup QB P.J. Walker.
In the second half of the show, we talk more about the Seahawks offense. Adam offers up his picks for the week after hitting a total of four games last week. The Dolphins and a random 49ers fan need to do better for their antics. Finally, better at life honors go out to a long-time Eagles defensive lineman and to the story behind this week's 12 flag raiser.
