On the morning of July 20, 2020, Grant Solomon lost his life in what appeared to be a tragic accident, where he was reportedly struck by his own truck. According to Grant’s father, Aaron Solomon, the only confirmed witness to the incident, Grant was retrieving baseball equipment from the bed of his truck when the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into reverse, and pulled him into a rock filled ditch. In 1971, Philip Zimbardo recruited participants to take on the roles of “prisoners” and “guards” to investigate the psychological effects of perceived power; Zimbardo's primary reason for conducting the experiment was to focus on the power of roles, rules, symbols, group identity and situational validation of behavior that generally would repulse ordinary individuals. But the experiment had to be terminated over a week earlier than expected due to how the participants began to act. On September 14, 2007, 14-year-old Andrew Gosden inexplicably disappearance. Andrew, who was from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, made the decision to skip school, he withdrew £200 from his bank account, and purchased a one-way train ticket to London. CCTV footage captured Andrew's final known moments at King's Cross Station in London, showing him exiting the station alone. On May 24th, 2019, Jennifer Farber Dulos, a mom of five from Connecticut, disappeared while in the midst of a contentious divorce with her husband, Fotis Dulos. In January 2020, Fotis and his then-girlfirned Michelle Troconis were arrested and charged in connection with Jennifer’s murder, but before Fotis Dulos could face justice, he took his life. This year (2024), Michelle Troconis finally faced trial on the charges of conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence, and hindering the prosecution. While her conviction was a small form of justice, Jennifer’s family and friends are still hopeful that one day her body will be found and they will be able to lay her to rest. Karlie Gusé was last seen on October 13, 2018 walking towards Highway 6 after leaving her residence in the White Mountain Estates area of Chalfant, California. She was asleep in the same room as her stepmother when at some point between 5 am and 7:30 a.m. her stepmother awoke and realized Karlie was gone. Karlie was spotted by 3 witnesses walking down the road towards U.S. 6 and seemed to be disoriented. After this, Karlie was never seen again. On April 26th, 2010, Ali Lowitzer, texted her mother right after she stepped off her school bus. She was letting her mother know that she planned to walk to Burger Barn, the restaurant where she worked, to collect her paycheck and hopefully pick up an extra shift. Despite the close proximity of Burger Barn to her house, less than a half-mile away, Ali had never walked there previously. Ali  failed to reach Burger Barn, never returning home later that evening. There has been no trace of Ali since that day. On May 18, 1989, 2-year-old Christopher Dansby was playing with his mother at the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers playground in Harlem, New York. His mother, Allison Dansby, needed to run an errand and left Christopher in the care of her own mother. Upon Allison's return, Christopher was nowhere to be found, vanishing without a trace. Then, nearly three months later on August 10, 1989, one-year-old Shane Anthony Walker was also at the same playground in Harlem with his mother, Rosa Glover, when Rosa was momentarily distracted, Shane disappeared. The circumstances of these disappearances raise questions, was there a potential connection in these cases or was this an inexplicable coincidence? Leah Roberts seemingly took off on a spontaneous cross-country trip to see the beautiful mountains in Washington that her favorite author, Jack Kerouac, had once described. She had been through several tragedies and was living her “second chance” at life, but 9 days after she left her home in North Carolina, her car was found crashed and abandoned. And Leah has never been seen since.  Leah Roberts is currently classified as endangered missing. At the time of her disappearance, she had blonde hair and blue eyes and was about 5’6” and 130lbs. She has a surgical scar on her right hip and a metal rod in her leg. She has pierced ears and dimples. She would be 47 years old today. Twenty-three-year-old Alonzo Brooks attended a party in April of 2004, despite being a homebody, he decided to accompany a few friends to La Cynge, Kansas. Throughout the evening, Alonzo's friends gradually departed, leaving him stranded with no means of getting back home. The next day, Alonzo had not returned, triggering immediate concern from his family. Nearly a month later, his body was discovered under highly suspicious circumstances. To this day, Alonzo's mysterious death remains unsolved. Yvonne Menke was heading to warm up her car outside her apartment in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin on December 12, 1985 when she was fatally shot 3 times. Two sisters, 15 year old Barbara and 12 year old Patricia Grimes, disappeared after watching a movie at the Brighton Park Movie Theater in Chicago on December 28, 1956. Less than a month later their nude bodies were found on the side of a highway, covered in snow. There were no fatal wounds to either sister, which baffled investigators. Shemika Cosey was 16-years-old girl when she vanished from Berkeley, Missouri on December 28, 2008, between 1:30 and 8:30 a.m. It was at her aunt's residence, where she had spent the night with her cousin, that she was last seen. Despite the absence of evident foul play, Shemika’s family is convinced that someone is responsible for her disappearance. They firmly believe that something must have happened to her, as she would not have stayed missing for such an extended period without some kind of issue arising. On June 13, 2001, 19 year old Jason Jolkowski received a call from his boss at Fazoli’s, an Italian American chain restaurant, asking if he could come into work early. Jason’s car was in the shop, so he planned for his coworker to pick him up instead. They arranged to meet at Benson High School as it was only about a half mile from his house. Somewhere between 11:15 and 11:30 a.m., Jason’s coworker called his house to see where he was. Jason never made it to Benson High School, in fact he has never been seen or heard from again. On October 30, 1998, 16 year old Kimberly Arrington walked down to her local CVS to pick up some candy and a soda. After about an hour, when Kim hadn’t returned home, her parents grew concerned and reported her missing. She has never been seen again. It’s been over 27 years since 64-year-old Abe Lebewohl was gunned down in front of the NatWest Bank in East Village, NY. On March 4, 1996, Abe was at the bank dropping off a $12,000 deposit from his place of business, the Second Avenue Deli, when he was robbed and killed. On March 21, 1979, 18-year-old Carol Lannen was found tied up and nude in the Templeton Woods in Dundee, Scotland. She had been strangled to death. Almost exactly a year later, on February 26, 1980, the partially nude body of 20-year-old Elizabeth McCabe was found less than 150 yards away from where Carol had been discovered. Matthew Rattlesnake Grant's body was found on the evening of December 31, 2016, in an alley between the College Homes and South Glacier Homes neighborhoods on the Blackfeet Nation Reservation in Browning, Montana. As of 2023, there have been no arrests made in his murder. On September 22, 1986, 23 year old Beth Barnard was brutally murdered in her home on Phillip Island, Australia. Beth was left with an “A” carved into her chest in reference to The Scarlet Letter, an 1850 novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne in which the main character is marked as an adulterer by being forced to wear an A on her chest. Beth had been having an affair with Fergus Cameron, a well-known member of the community who was married to a woman named Vivienne. Vivienne Cameron is Beth’s alleged killer, but she went missing after the murder and still has never been seen or heard from again… and some of the evidence doesn’t add up. On June 6th, 1985, 3-year-old Alisha Smiley went missing. She had been sitting on a bench outside the Omni International Hotel  in Atlanta, Georgia. Alisha is a black female with brown eyes and dark brown or black hair (which was braided and tied with lilac-colored ribbons). At the time of her disappearance, Alisha stood 3 feet tall and weighed about 30 pounds. She had her ears pierced and a little gap between her lower front teeth. Alisha was last seen wearing a red and white checkered sundress, white sandals with silver buttons, and gold earrings. At the time of her disappearance Elyssa was 12 years old, 5'1 and 117 pounds. She has brown hair, hazel eyes and is bi-racial (Latina and Black). She has one scar below her chin where she had four stitches and another round scar on her right shoulder. Elyssa also has pierced ears. She was last seen wearing a blue ski jacket with a white stripe down the center, dark blue jeans and white sneakers. Elyssa would also answer to her nicknames Lee Lee or Lisa. Today Elyssa would be 33 years old. 19 year old Cheryl Anne Scherer went missing from the Rhodes Pump-Ur-Own-Service Station in Scott City Missouri on April 17, 1979. An off-duty attendant who was at the service station described seeing Cheryl there working around 11:30 am. The attendant left and when she returned, Cheryl had vanished. Cheryl's car was still parked outside and her purse had also been left behind the service station counter. Soon it was discovered that $480 was missing from the cash register. To this day, Cheryl's case remains unsolved. Is she still alive or did someone do the unthinkable? Investigators continue to work on Cheryl's case and hopefully one day soon Cheryl and her family will get some answers and have closure. Kenneka Jenkins was a 19-year-old nursing student from Chicago, Illinois who was found deceased in September of 2017 inside a latched freezer in the Crowne Plaza hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, where she attended a party with some friends.
