On a day when Forest were confirmed as "all but safe", the Reds failed to rubber stamp their Premier League status as they conceded two late goals to money bags Chelsea. In truth, Forest didn't look like a worse team than their wealthy counterparts, until the subs were made, which strengthened the visitors and weakened the hosts. The key fact is that Forest lost a relegation six-pointer, to two long range goals. The underlying facts are that there were three clear penalty shouts waved away, including (at least) one where the ref clearly got it wrong but VAR chose not to correct him. The headlines go to the club's tweet on the full-time whistle, which accuses PGMOL of bias and suggests that the club will explore their options, whatever that means. It definitely felt like two points dropped, despite the Reds actually scoring from a corner, and fighting back from conceding a poor goal to take the lead. 45 minutes of heaven, followed by 45 minutes of hell - however, Forest scored three goals in the first period and withstood the Fulham offensive in the second half, to earn a welcome three points and make up for the points deducted due to the PSR breach. A draw wasn't the result that we wanted, but was enough to pull the Reds out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Well, that felt good didn't it? Losing one home match feels unlucky, losing two in a row feels like something else. The sporting weekend was overshadowed by the sudden and tragic death of Panthers forward Adam Johnson, and all of us here at 1865 send our condolences to Adam's nearest and dearest. On the pitch, Forest were very much second best and were never in danger of getting their first win at Anfield since 1969. The circumstances of this defeat felt particularly damaging as Brentford scored two late goals, the second of which came after Danilo had to come off due to injury, leaving the Reds with ten men. A stoppage-time penalty from Alexander Isak saw the Reds fall to their first home defeat since October, and record consecutive Premier League defeats.
