Why footballers suffer hamstring injuries Factors influencing injury risk Reducing injury risk How he works in the gym to strengthen hamstringsAbout Eric :
"My name is Eric Gorman, and I am currently the Strength and Conditioning Coach with the New York Red Bulls' First Team. I have been with the club for 4 seasons now, and this is my third with the First Team. I spent 1 year with the second team and prior to that, I spent 5 years with the Philadelphia Union Academy. Football is my passion but more than just football, training and coaching footballers is even more of a passion. I have been training athletes for the past 15 years and watching young athletes, and professional athletes' development their technical and physical skills is something that I enjoy doing. In the last 9 years, I have been dedicating my time learning and developing my craft in the rehab/reconditioning process. Blending performance and rehab is a important process in what I do and what I love. I think one of the best things about sport is watching a player go through their reconditioning process, then transition back to team training, then watching them perform in matches. Seeing that process through and the excitement it brings to the athlete is awesome to be a part of. I am married to the most amazing wife who supports me and my career. I wouldn't be able to do what I love without her love and support. We have two amazing sons, both who are thriving in their own ways. Football is important, but family is everything."

The importance of physical activity for children School performance and physical activity How to integrate S&C into physical education What S&C Coaches can learn from TeachersAbout Giles:
"My passion for S&C has always been an area I have found exciting, whether to improve my own performance or for the teams and individuals I have been lucky enough to work with. Graduating with a Sport Science Degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, which led to training as Physical Education Teacher and working in St. Peter’s R.C High School, Gloucester. I joined the school that has a legacy for producing top performers, yet not reaching its potential at a national level, so I set about creating a positive culture around S&C with all young athletes. Since then more expertise was employed, until currently where we have an incredible programme led tremendously by our S&C Coach, and consistently performing at a national level. We have developed a curriculum that identifies talent and sets about making them highly literate athletes, whilst giving opportunity to the majority to develop themselves into competent performers. We are serious about education and passionate about unlocking potential where students are not afraid to make mistakes."

Apple Podcasts Google Podcasts Spotify StitcherMon, 09 Oct 2023 - 17min - 184 - 183: How Goalkeepers Can Change The Game With Elite Level Physical Performance
In episode 183 Julia West, Goalkeeper Coack and Tutor of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Worcester, joins us.
Specifically Julia will be looking at:
Why goalkeepers are unique How goalkeepers differ between sports How goalkeepers in football can improve their physical performanceAbout Julia:
"Dr Julia West is a goalkeeper coach and a tutor in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Worcester. Julia is proud to have played for England Universities and achieved a high level of performance in the women’s game. This experience has laid the foundation for Julia’s coaching interest in all things goalkeeping. Early on, Julia realised there was little information specifically relating to the goalkeeper, their performance or their training. Many outfield coaches have bemoaned the lack of literature or guidance around coaching the goalkeeper and this has lead to a lack of specific goalkeeper coaching in many clubs. Therefore, through her coaching, research and dissemination, Julia has set out to redress this with a ‘something is better than nothing’ philosophy. However, if you are going to do ‘something’, then you might as well do a goalkeeper specific something."

Why footballers should train in the gym How the gym impacts field based performance How to use activation sessions to improve football performanceAbout Terry:
"I worked with the Olympic Committee in Holland, I worked with a variety of sports including Table Tennis, Track Cycling and Volleyball, and I realised I would prefer to work in an environment where I would get to work every day with the same athletes, to get a become more process oriented, rather than being focused on tasks. Then Vitesse Arnhem was at the same location as the Olympic Committee, so I moved there for around 7 years, and met some really good coaches over there. One of them took me to Dubai to work with a team there as a Strength & Conditioning coach, and then I came back to work with Heerenveen in the same role. Then Peter Bosz, who I worked with at Vitesse called me, and asked whether I wanted to come and work at Bayer Leverkusen. I worked at Bayer 04 Leverkusen for 2 seasons before moving for just over a season to Olympique Lyon. Currently i’ve my got own company, TP Performance Coaching, and recently did consultancy work for Jumbo-Visma Roadcycling and a Premier League team. I'm currently waiting for the next big project."

Apple Podcasts Google Podcasts Spotify StitcherMon, 06 Feb 2023 - 28min - 149 - 148: How Speciality Bars Help Create World-Record Strength Levels
In episode 148, Chris Duffin, , joins us.
Specifically Chris will be looking at:
What speciality bars are How they improve strength and performance Chris' favourite bars*About Chris
"Using his engineering degree and MBA, he spent nearly 20 years becoming a sought-after turnaround expert in the aerospace, automotive, and industrial equipment manufacturing sectors. But most people know him for his work after moving on from that career, founding his own Education and Manufacturing companies focused on biomechanics, human movement, and personal development. As an award-winning expert in these fields, he holds patents and has been recognized for scientific innovation, and is a desired keynote speaker.
In the sports performance world, Chris’s work is everywhere. His game-changing products are used in nearly every professional sports team in North America, all the big-name colleges and a thousand others, all military branches (white house included), and so many more. His concepts have changed the landscape of strength training in improving performance and the systemized approaches to assessing and correcting human movement dysfunctions.
With extremes again, Chris is not just a recognized thought leader but has held numerous all-time world records and become one of the strongest pound-for-pound powerlifters in the world. He holds the Guinness World Record for the heaviest sumo deadlift of all time, with 1001 pounds for almost three repetitions. He also completed the same feat with a 1001lbs squat making him the only human in history to have Squatted and Deadlifted 1000+lbs for reps. He used these feats of strength to raise money and awareness for charities related to his upbringing."
