Gay Breakfast is THE most important gay meal of your day. This is an LGBT-themed geeky podcast, and we're your hosts! Our names are Judith and Natalie, and we're a married pair of ladies who LOVE to talk about LGBT representation in our entertainment, and what it means to us all. We will spend a lot of time talking about our favorite LGBT cartoon, Steven Universe, but we'll also be covering other TV shows, movies, anime, LGBT current events, LGBT history, and the personal identity experiences of ourselves, and our listeners. We'll be open to questions!
- 40 - Episode 1 Remaster!
The team at Gay Breakfast is still having issues with making space in our schedules as well as finding new recording software, so for now get nostalgic with us! Even if you weren't around when we initially recorded episode 1, you can still feel some nostalgia for the topic of Steven Universe. Thanks for being patient with us. We're working on getting new content out soon!
Mon, 19 Apr 2021 - 37min - 39 - Non-Binary, Not Neutral
Last year Natalie was exploring what it meant to be a non-binary person who presents more femme than androgynous. After a big year of struggle, transformation, and discovery, it's time to talk about gender identity with more confidence and certainty. A good listen for anyone who doesn't belong to either binary and doesn't fit everyone's expectations.
Mon, 01 Mar 2021 - 47min - 38 - Top Surgery - One Year Later
Very personal episode ahead, Judith looks back on their top surgery from a year ago and the changes it's brought to their life. Discussion includes transforming gender, non-binary validation, and the experience of the surgery itself. If you've ever been curious about non-binary top surgery or need something to relate to, we hope this episode can be a help!
Mon, 15 Feb 2021 - 59min - 37 - Into the Dystopian Lesbian Wilds
Have you heard about that TV show The Wilds on amazon? The one that's like Lost, but better and gayer? Neither had we until we stumbled across it while browsing one night. This one is definitely worth talking about, so please join us!
Spoiler-free first half, full spoilers second half because this is a show full of surprises! Warnings are in appropriate places.
Thu, 04 Feb 2021 - 32min - 36 - The Prom: Gay Musicals for the Straights?
Sorry for the late upload everyone! Today we dive deep into queer nostalgia as we talk about a classic fav: MUSICAAAAALS! Broadway's been dark for a year, but Netflix has us covered with their own adaptation of 2018's "The Prom". How does it measure up as a movie-musical, and as a queer story? We just wanna dance and lay our all our opinions on this one!
Thu, 28 Jan 2021 - 45min - 35 - Adachi & Shimamura - Reliving the "Just Friends" Years
Today we discuss a recent anime of the yuri genre, about a pair of high school girls who are good friends. BEST friends. Gal pals, you might even say. Adachi & Shimamura is low-key and relaxed in pace, but we think it provides a truly relatable look back at when you're first starting to realize certain things about yourself and your relationships. Come listen and look back with us!
Sun, 17 Jan 2021 - 26min - 34 - Happiest Season, but Not Really
BEEN A WHILE, hello there! Is this an X-mas movie review in MY January? You bet it is, because me and Natalie live by our own rules. We talk about Happiest Season, more famously known as "That Gay Kristen Stewart Christmas Movie".
We have a little bit of catching up to do before we start talking about our main topic, but if you just want to hear about the movie we happily provide you with a timestamp to skip to at the start of the episode. Happy 3 weeks after christmas everyone!
Mon, 11 Jan 2021 - 43min - 33 - Bury Your Queerbaiting and SuperLock Your Gays
Today we discuss three different shows that have stirred up controversy due to the choices they made while representing (or not representing) MLM characters. Supernatural, Sherlock, and Voltron have all flirted with some harmful tropes that have divided their queer viewers. We can't discuss queerbaiting & the like without examining the tropes themselves, so let's dive in!
Mon, 21 Dec 2020 - 1h 02min - 32 - Gay Throwback: Lapis Lazuli
Hey everyone, Natalie had a bunch of diagnostics done this week (she's ok), so our lovely editor refurbished one of our earliest episodes to fill this week since we were short on time.
Original description: "Today our main topic is the Steven Universe character Lapis Lazuli, and how her depiction and story can easily relate to the experience of many LGBT viewers. We also let you know about our adorable gay-cation to Harry Potter World and Disney World last month, and introduce a new miniature segment on queer history. Enjoy!"

Hope everyone had a good, responsible, and safe holiday! Today we're discussing the new LGBTQ documentary on HBO max, Transhood. This documentary shows that trans children are finally starting to get the recognition and attention from family that they deserve, but we're still here to discuss the incredibly rocky road ahead. Tune in for our thoughts on this compassionate and hopeful look at trans youth.
Mon, 30 Nov 2020 - 41min - 29 - It's Never Too Late
Today we discuss an element of queer life, and something that's personal to a lot of us - the feeling that you've waited "too long" to come out or be true to yourself. Any of us who feel this way are much less alone than we might think, so let's talk about it. It's never too late to be true to yourself and we've all got each other's backs!
Sun, 22 Nov 2020 - 33min - 28 - Half-Gender Princess Yashahime
We get a little nostalgic today as we discuss the new sequel/spinoff to our old standby Inuyasha, Half-Demon Princess Yashahime. Stories by author Rumiko Takahashi have had some issues when it comes to portrayals of queer characters or themes, but we think this new endeavor might just break away from that a little bit. Just a bit. ;) It's time we had more queer perspectives on the Inuyasha franchise anyway.

Today we're revisiting our panel from Crunchyroll Expo, Queer New Animal. This is a more polished version of our own episode on Brand New Animal and it's easily-interpretable queer themes. This is our first time bringing back a convention show as an episode, so we'll see how it goes from here. Stay tuned next week for another regularly scheduled recording and HALLOWEEN episode!
Mon, 26 Oct 2020 - 1h 01min - 24 - Her Tale of Shim Cheong: Making the Past Gayer
We dive into the webcomics world today and discuss Her Tale of Shim Cheong, a sapphic retelling of an old Korean morality tale (spoilers: this version is better). This is a largely SPOILER-FREE review because we want you all to go read it yourselves and also Judith hasn't finished yet.

Does it have plainly visible queer themes? YES! Even if you haven't seen it, give us a listen because we're not spoiling and we're hoping to hype you for this movie!
Mon, 21 Sep 2020 - 43min - 21 - Mulan's Rainbow Reflection
Today we discuss Disney's 1998 animated film, Mulan, and what it meant to each of us as queer teens watching it for the first time. For all its flaws, this is much more of a film worth fighting for than any version Disney has tried to follow it with.
CW: Later in the podcast we discuss cancer treatment, unwanted pregnancy tests, and gender dysphoria. If any of these topics make you feel uncomfortable, please skip the last few minutes of the podcast.

- 19 - The Gay Witches of The Owl House
Sorry to get this to y'all late, but we wanted to watch ALL of season 1 of the Owl House before we did our episode. This horror-comedy for kids is the first disney TV show to have a queer main character, but there's a lot more gay magic to be discovered here. Judith and Natalie are always happy to talk about witches, because witches are always queer. Come join us in the coven.
Please be aware of the CW message at the beginning of our episode, and give it a quick listen if you want to skip directly to Owl House content!

- 15 - She-Ra & The Princesses of Power: Part 3Mon, 03 Aug 2020 - 47min
- 14 - She-Ra & The Princesses of Power: Part 2
We continue our look back at Noelle Stevenson's She-Ra by covering seasons 2 & 3 (which are actually just season 2 sliced up). Scorpia, Huntara, and a desert full of furries are definitely enough to get us excited. But we talk about the heavier side too, and all the feelings that went into throwing that switch. Tune in and rewatch along with us!

- 11 - Brand New Animal & Queer Theory
Studio Trigger's BNA (Brand New Animal) was just released from Netflix jail, and what better way to celebrate than to go 100% queer theory on the whole damn thing? Put on your rainbow thinking caps (or maybe just a pair of wolf ears) and come night running with us as we give our personal gay interpretation of Trigger's latest anime project.

- 8 - The Gay Animation Renaissance - Part 2
Are you ready for MORE of one of our most popular panels at conventions, brought to you in long format for Pride month since y'know, conventions aren't really a thing anymore?? I thought so.
Part 2 continues queer animation history up until the 2010's, with a healthy bonus dose of ripping apart dedicated TERF JK Rowling.
Sun, 14 Jun 2020 - 44min - 7 - The Gay Animation Renaissance - Part 1
We're back! Happy Pride everyone!
This is one of our most popular panels at conventions, and we've decided to bring it to you in long format for Pride month since y'know, conventions aren't really a thing anymore.
Part 1 covers some of the history of film and animation and its relationship to queerness, from the 1920's to the 1990's.
Sun, 07 Jun 2020 - 56min - 6 - The Personal Gender Spectrum
Today's episode does get quite personal. Influenced by the ever-expanding conversation about non-binary identities, Judith and Natalie discuss what gender has meant to them throughout their lives, how it has harmed and helped the shaping of their identities, and how their views on it are continuing to evolve even now.
Fri, 27 Jul 2018 - 48min - 5 - Steven Universe - Reunited
After MANY, MANY technical difficulties, our last episode covering the "Heart of the Crystal Gems" Steven bomb is here!
Just FYI, this episode was supposed to be up about 3 days ago. The first half was recorded and the second half was deleted by our recording program...twice! But now it finally exists, and is as seamless as I could manage.
I don't know how to express our excitement over THE FIRST GAY WEDDING/KISS ON A KID'S CARTOON SHOW in HISTORY, so you'll just have to listen to all we have to say about it. ;)
Wed, 11 Jul 2018 - 1h 26min - 4 - Steven Universe: Made of Honor
We're still gearing up for the FIRST GAY WEDDING ON A CHILDREN'S CARTOON SHOW IN HISTORY and it looks like we'll have to wait one more episode for that, but in the meantime we've got some really adorable Crystal Gem wedding prep, and an in-depth queer look at the new addition to Ruby and Sapphire's guest list. Judith and Natalie talk about weddings, relationships, infighting, and community, and what they all mean in the lives of LGBT+ people according to this wonderful little Steven Universe episode.
Stevenbomb continues!
Fri, 06 Jul 2018 - 31min - 3 - Steven Universe: The Question
Howdy pardners. I reckon part 3 of our week-long Steven bomb podcast blitz is here. Seems we're on a steady gay incline with each new episode, and Brokeback Mountain: Ruby Edition is the next step up. There's a lot of queer analysis to be had here, including a historic first for a kid's cartoon. So kick your boots off for a while and gather 'round the fire to talk with us gays about it. Yeehaw!
Fri, 06 Jul 2018 - 32min - 2 - Steven Universe - What's Your Problem?
Part 2 in our 5-part podcast bomb covering the "Heart of the Crystal Gems" Steven-bomb is here! We discuss "What's Your Problem" and how we think it can relate to the POV of young LGBT+ folks in our own real day and age. Plus, we go on a little about how Amethyst is awesome and SELF-CARE IS IMPORTANT.
Please remember this episode contains Steven Universe SPOILERS so don't listen yet if you care about things like that.
Wed, 04 Jul 2018 - 29min - 1 - Steven Universe -Now We're Only Falling Apart
We're back after a SUPER long hiatus with a new show, full of gayness and Steven Universe analysis. Today we're looking at the newest episode to air, "Now We're Only Falling Apart". If you don't want to be spoiled, please don't listen to us until you've seen it for yourself. Normally I'd have a longer description than that, but I'm keeping information limited ;)
Looks like there's going to be a lot of Garnet this week, so you can expect a new episode from us for EACH ONE OF THEM as they come out Monday-Friday! (We might skip July 4th and pack 2 Steven eps into one podcast the next day)
