- 374 - Episode 361: 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, News Round-Up
Today the guys race against the clock as Sami gets locked in an air-tight room with enough oxygen for only 45 minutes of recording. During this time, the guys have to talk about the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport that Benjamin recently tested. Totally redesigned for this year, the Taco has a new engine, design and interior which all had an interesting impact on Benjamin during his test drive. The guys also talk about suspension, cargo preferences, and fake trim bits during this review of the mid-size truck.
Then the conversation shifts to the recently announced 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, which gets the look of the outgoing TRX but with a smaller engine. That news is followed up with the reveal of the 2025 Mercedes Benz G 580 With EQ Technology, an all-electric version of the beloved G-Wagon, and maybe the best looking EV at Mercedes. Then the guys chat about Ford's EV woes and their new strategy of making smaller, more affordable cars. Who'd've thunk it? Thanks for listening!

This week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, our hosts dive into the Land Rover Defender 130, but not just any Defender: this one is loaded with all the trimmings, including a side-mounted accessory box, a roof rack made for camping, a ladder to access that rack, and some sweet flat-black paint. Benjamin asks, are these things useful? Are they worth the money? Won't people in the city just be tempted to mess with your cool Land Rover stuff? And Sami has his thoughts on why he's right and wrong - not to mention how the rest of the car behaves on the road.
Then our hosts get dirty discussing the recently revealed 2025 Toyota 4Runner, which has finally recieved a significant redesign after being untouched for so long. While that's good news, the guys can't help but bring up the new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and how this news affects its standing in the Toyota truck lineup.
Finally, the guys bring up some news from Up North about the banning of cars with Level 3 hands-free driving systems. Thanks for listening, be sure to head to our website or get in touch with us if you have any questions or feedback!

Following a logistical and technical complication last week, the Unnamed Automotive Podcast is back to deliver the freshest and bestest takes in the automotive media. Or so we believe! This week's episode starts us off on a journey of Easter candies, before we quickly change lanes to discuss the 2024 Chevrolet Trax, the kissing cousin (eww) of the Buick Envista. This attractively priced crossover has quite a lot going for it, and very little fanfare, so is Benjamin impressed with this newly designed small car? Is it better than the rest, or even a better buy than a compact sedan? Hear Benjamin's thorough take on this interesting crossover.
Then the episode heads towards a different discussion, one where our hosts question value, audience and design as they talk about the 2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV R/T. With its gimmicky PowerShot feature, this electrified crossover can sprint from 0-60 in just over 5 seconds, but why? And how is that relevant to a pricey plug-in hatchback? Is this the new hot-hatch from the American automaker, or does it miss the mark entirely? Those are the burning questions of this weeks episode, but then the guys chat about some listener feedback and questions. Thanks for listening!

Benjamin details his recent experience in the 2024 Volvo V60 T8 Polestar Engineered PHEV. That may sound like a bunch of gibberish, but the reality is that Ben had a lot to say about this 455 horsepower, plug-in hybrid wagon. Is it fast enough? Big enough? Efficient enough? Fancy enough? Benjamin has all the answers and more!
Then Sami brings up all the news that popped up during the 2024 New York Auto Show, including the new Kicks, new G Class, new Defender and performance oriented Genesis vehicles (hot M A G M A!). Then the guys discuss some listener questions and feedback. Keep it coming! Thanks for listening!

Today's show starts with Benjamin's review of the 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric, an EV that could stand on its own in a vaccuum, but runs up against a few issues when you consider the rest of the EV world. Benjamin wonders if its worth it to spring for a homegrown rival electric vehicle for just a few thousand dollars more.
Then Sami continues his three-row review extravaganza with his take on the 2024 Honda Pilot TrailSport. Having undergone a thorough redesign last year, is the new Pilot a solid choice in this segment? What are its strengths and weaknesses in one of the most competitive arenas in this industry? Sami reveals his thoughts on these concerns and more!
Then the guys answer a unique listener question, involving two totally different cars, but with similar family-friendly goals. Thanks for listening!

It may be St Particks Day, but our hosts are driving anything but green rides. Benjamin starts this weeks show off with a discussion of the 2024 Lexus TX 350, an all new model in the Lexus lineup, but one that feels pretty familiar to anyone who's checked out the Toyota Grand Highlander. While this three-row is more competent than past offerings by Lexus, Benjamin shares his concerns about whether this is a worthy option in this class, and what to do about its troublesome user-interface and weird driver-facing-video recordings.
Then the guys talk about some weird fake heavy-duty trucks, and this history behind such a strange trend in the automotive industry. Who's heard of the Big 10, or Heavy Half before? It was certainly an eye-opener for our enthusiastic hosts. Thanks for listening!

Starting things off this week is the 2024 BMW i5 M60, a near-600 horsepower all-electric sedan that Benjamin seems impressed with, especially in comparison to the Mercedes-AMG EQE from last week. But every BMW comes with its hiccups and gimmicks, and Benjamin is more than eager to share his experience with this high-end German, and how the new executive sport sedan feels.
Then Sami gets his three-row on by talking about not just one, but two family oriented crossovers. The discussion starts with the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, which seems to be the default three-row for families looking to grow from their RAV4. Then the guys go on to talk about Sami's recently tested 2024 Subaru Ascent, and how the brand has recieved a lot of credit for its steady approach to the market. Thanks for listening!!

Building on earlier outlier efforts like the i3, a modern BMW EV eschews the drastic wind-tunnel concessions made by rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQ series, retaining an instantly-identifiable profile that is in some cases polarizing, and in others lifted directly from the internal combustion side of the showroom.Sun, 10 Mar 2024 - 47min - 367 - Episode 354: 2024 BMW X2, 2024 Mercedes-AMG EQE Sedan
Some high-tech luxury cars enter the Unnamed Automotive Podcast garage this week, as Sami finally shares his experience driving the totally redesigned 2024 BMW X2. Where the outgoing model was more of a hot hatch, this seems more like a sedan-ified crossover. And while that sounds kind of mundane, the sheer amount of weird technology help the X2 stand out in a way, or so Sami suggests.
Then Benjamin gets his hands on the 2024 Mercedes-AMG EQE Sedan, which promises the world, but only delivers under certain scenarios. Be sure to listen to this segment with a checklist to see if you can remember all the things that have to go right before you can access the full power of this speedy EV. Thanks for listening!

The Unnamed Automotive Podcasts goes dipstick deep (eww, no) into electrification this week with a discussion of every kind of electric car available these days. First Benjamin talks about the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV, and how the Japanese automaker adopts its new large three-row crossover to a (hopefully) more efficient model of transportation. Benjamin goes road tripping in his electron-enhanced Mazda, and finds a few hiccups that mar the overall experience.
Then Sami gets curious about all the award hype going on for the 2024 Toyota Prius AWD and checks it out himself. With more power, extroverted styling and a 'normal' looking cabin, the Toyota hybrid feels completely removed from the original example that came out nearly 25 years ago - but is it for the better?
Finally Benjamin takes the rear-wheel-drive 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 for a spin in the snow to see if the big battery and evenly distrubuted weight make for a confident drive in slippery conditions. Then he finds out a harsh truth about EVs in cold weather... Thanks for listening, and be sure to check in next week!

The guys have returned from their short hiatus to give you even more great content and car conversations. This weeks episode starts off following Benjamin's recent drive of the 2024 Jaguar F-Type R 75, a celebration of the British automaker's great history of sports cars. Benjamin takes a cruise down Memory Ln. to talk about the F-Type and its impact on the brand, as well as how the rest of the sports car world looked when it first debuted compared to where we are now. Plus we get some more insight into his personal, (or is that questionable?) automotive tastes.
Then Sami, noted Outback enthusiast and serial owner, talks about the 2024 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition, which he isn't recommending to new car shoppers. He lists why, and the guys go on their own journey to find acceptable Outback alternatives.
Finally the pair discuss some news from Ford about the brand cutting a much loved/maligned feature from their future cars. Be sure to reach out to us on social media or check out our website for more Unnamed Automotive Podcast news.

Our show starts with the 2024 Hyundai Tucson N-Line Hybrid, which looks cool and promises low fuel consumption, but Sami and Benjamin have a few contrasting thoughts about the design and effectiveness of that powertrain.
Then the guys bring on Thomas Hundal from The Autopian to discuss his recent drive of the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition. While a $50k Corolla sounds like a crazy idea, Thomas has a few arguments in its favor, without going overboard praising Toyota as some kind of Enthusiast Haven.
Finally, Thomas shares the details on one of his latest published features, discussing the Honda Civic Tour, which saw the Japanese automaker splash fancy and unique graphics on a bunch of cars for the latest and greatest (at the time) bands. This list of participating bands include Maroon 5, The Black Eyed Peas, Panic! At The Disco and Blink-182 though some cars have the works, while others are barely changed. Welcome to the New Year with the Unnamed Automotive Podcast! As we enter 2024, the guys have plenty to talk about starting with a paid of luxury three-row crossovers. Benjamin starts things off with his test drive of the 2024 BMW X7 M60i, which is loaded with a twin-turbo V8 and three-rows of luxurious seating. Who could've guessed this thing could do 0-60 in under 4 seconds? Beyond that little tidbit, Benjamin had plenty of frustrations about the Bimmer, but does that detract from the overall experience?
Then Sami chimes in about his time with the 2024 Infiniti QX60, another high-end three-row crossover. However, Sami has some concerns with the Infiniti which shares a lot with the Nissan Pathfinder, including its powertrain, platform and many of its features. Is the Infiniti badge worth $20K? What's with the one-way power folding third row? And the old-school infotainment screen? Is this really the best the Japanese automaker can do?

Then Benjamin brings up the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, a larger three-row crossover from the Japanese automaker, and one he wonders might kill the non-Grand Highlander altogether. With decent size, fuel efficiency and pricing, the Grand Highlander seems like a winning combination, but Benjamin's experience with the vehicle's safety systems gives him some pauses about recommending it.

As Spotify Wrapped comes flying into your inboxes, the Unnamed Automotive Podcast can hold off no longer with this weeks episode. The "No Procastination Special" shows up with roughly 40 minutes of focused car-talk, all centering around two (or maybe three) vehicles. Hey, if you listen carefully you may find real consumer advice here...
First up Benjamin has plenty to say about the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic SUV. Despite its wacky name, this all-electric SUV should be a highlight in the world of luxury EVs, but there are a few factors that stand in its way, including its price, performance and technology. It all has our hosts asking: "How much is that three-pointed star badge really worth?"
Then Sami chimes in with his experience in the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, and compares it to the recently reviewed 2024 Hyundai Kona. To make things extra-thorough, Benjamin discusses his time in the 2024 Crosstrek base model, and the two come to many of the same conclusions, which, given the long history of this podcast, is very rare.

This big bruiser of a pickup truck has a price that needs hauling, but is the equipment and experience worth it? Benjamin has plenty of stories from his time with the heavy duty truck as well as an important conclusion about these big ole pickups.
Then Sami tests out the 2024 Hyundai Kona N-Line which has undergone a complete transformation for this year. With 44 miles of all electric range, the Prius Prime is no longer the geeky favourite of Leonardo DiCaprio, but a surprisingly good looking, functional car that isn't too bad to drive, or so Benjamin says. Listen the whole segment to get his final say, not to mention a fun tangent about other phevs that disappeared over the years.
Then Sami brings up the 2024 Kia Carnival, which played dad van duties when his extended family dropped in. With tons of tech, space and cool powered second row seats, the Carnival should be a hit with families, but Sami says the Korean minivan has a fatal flaw which may make it fall out of favor with those looking for a three row superstar. On the other hand, Benjamin's recent moving experience with the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV suggests that you don't need a family to thoroughly test a van, especially one as efficient as this particular hybrid.
Thanks for listening! See you all next week!

Sami fills us in about all the changes for this years car along with what works and what doesn't (spoiler: its the infotainment system, it's ALWAYS the infotainment system.)
Then Benjamin talks about the 2023 Honda Passport Elite, and how it fits in the grand scheme of things as a mid-sized off-roader, especially compared to the rugged looking Trailsport model. Should buyers just get an Elite and kit it out? What's out there for Honda enthusiasts looking to get off road? Benjamin shares all, and also asks whats going on with the Passports future.

Typically you hear the Unnamed Automotive Podcast discuss the latest and greatest new cars, which are loaded to the brim with all the features you can think of. But this week, your hosts have their chance to drive some lesser equipped vehicles, which allow for some thorough testing. First up Sami talks about his time in the 2023 Mercedes Benz GLC 300, which has been updated to a level that should satisfy even the most skeptical Mercedes fan. But the GLC has a few fatal flaws, namely with its infotainment system that Sami says can ruin the whole experience.
Then Benjamin gets his hands on a relatively no frills version of the 2023 Ford F-250. Towing with the heavy duty truck proves to be no problem, but Benjamin has a few more notes to share about this truck and whether a HD will work for your load or not. He also gives a fun update on tracking his Datsun Z over at Watkins Glen raceway, which put a huge smile on his face. Is this a world class track? The sun's out and it's hot, so of course it's a perfect time to hear the latest episode of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, especially since we've got one of the few sub-$100k roadsters left on the market to discuss. To save you the trouble of guessing, we'll just say it's the drop top Toyota Supra, aka the 2023 BMW X4, which has been lightly refreshed ("kinda" according to Benjamin.) The Z4 has apparently gotten quicker thanks to the fusion of some some German and Japanese witchcraft, and Benjamin has more than a few things to share about his experience in one of the few luxury droptops available.
Then Sami chimes in to talk about the refreshed 2024 Kia Seltos X-Line, which gets a rugged new design, and an upscale looking interior. But Sami isn't convinced that this is the best Is can do, so be sure to hear what is making him tick about this Korean subcompact.
Finally the guys discussion subscription features, Corvettes and hot hatch resale values before closing out the show. Thanks for listening!

The boys are back in podcast form to give you some hot takes like you've never heard! Following his stint in the 2023 Nissan Z Sami has a lot of feelings about the new Japanese sports car. While it lacks involvement from another automaker, Sami says the new Z packs a ton of power but has a few drawbacks that makes it struggle to stand out. The whole ordeal has the guys asking "what's going on over over at Nissan?"
Then Benjamin gets his kicks in the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover, which now arrives with a seven seater configuration. Benjamin gets a go in this exact configuration and has plenty of ideas about what a luxury SUV is capable of and what it's measuring up against.

Expectations can be a confounding thing. This week our hosts get to talk about when expectations go awry, starting with the 2024 Mazda CX-90, a large, premium three-row SUV that plays the role of flagship vehicle for the small Japanese brand. Benjamin discusses why the new car has such high hopes, and whether it meets those lofty goals through the use of a turbo-inline-six cylinder engine, a rear-wheel-drive platform and an all new infotainment system. Can Mazda really leapfrog over the other mainstream competitors with this recipe?
Then the guys talk about the weird 2025 Acura ZDX, and whether or not it carries the quirky nature of the brand and the history of the ZDX nameplate. Now an EV engineered by GM, will Acura be taking the zero-emissions mandate seriously?
Finally the guys discuss some listener comments about annoying overly nanny-ish features. Thanks for listening!

What's good Unnamed Automotive Podcast listeners? We'll tell you what isn't: the two vehicles the guys are talking about this week. First up is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia, which Benjamin points out has some highs and lows, but mostly lows with a vehicle with a limited audience, even though it's been thoroughly redesigned. Packing three rows and a hybrid powertrain, the Sequoia has a small audience, and one that doesn't seem to be growing in any significant way, but wait till you hear Ben's description of the ride, cargo space and pricing which is the SUV's death toll.
Then Sami brings up the 2023 Ford Escape PHEV, which was recently refreshed with a new look and cabin, but has been overshadowed by the Bronco Sport. Is Ford giving up on its hybrid crossover? Based on Sami's experience, there are a few fatal flaws to the new Escape, and ones that are making it a hard sell compared to its rivals.

First up, Benjamin drives the 2023 BMW M2, which leaves him with a far different impression from when he first heard about the performance oriented coupe. Bigger, faster, and just over $60,000, our host thinks the M2 is making some other performance cars completely irrelevant, despite some claiming that it's missing the original M2 ethos.
Then Sami jumps in to complete his recent truck testing treasure trove by taking the smallest option on the market, the 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor. Notable the Tremor is off-road oriented, like other Ford trucks, but is it rugged enough for a unibody pickup that's not much more than a compact crossover with a bed? Sami certainly thinks so, but hear Benjamin poke a few holes in his theory.

A new pony car has arrived on the scene just as all of its competitors are departing. Sami tells us all about his time in the 2024 Ford Mustang, starting with the EcoBoost model and its auto-only setup and then the real-deal GT with its 5.0-liter V8 engine. While that's enough for most, the Mustang seems loaded gimmicky features like drift brake, remote rev, line-lock and retro-themed digital dashes. Is it even trying at this point as all of its rivals wave from the sidelines, or is this the best Mustang yet?
Then Benjamin has his time in the all-show, no-go version of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Estrema Edizione. Looking like the 505-hp Quadrifoglio, but packing a more modest powertrain, Ben flips between loving and hating this Italian sport sedan, and for good reason. Boring, uninspired, mediocre are words you wouldn't use to describe the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, but perhaps they're sprinked throughout this week's discussions as Benjamin dishes about his time with the 2023 Toyota bZ4X. Toyotas first mainstream all electic vehicle, the 'beezforks' (shout-out to Abigail Bassett) represents a whole new space for the Japanese automaker, but it seems like there are many things holding the car back from truly succeeding.

Don't say the guys at the helm of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast don't give you their all, as Benjamin records right through a storm to give you some fresh new content. First up Benjamin talks about the refreshed 2023 BMW M340i. The Bavarian automaker has a new strategy in mind for its future cars, and this 3 Series sees some interesting changes, especially in the cabin. As Benjamin goes on a long road trip, he experiences the highs and lows of the entry level sport sedan and bares all for you to hear about.
Then Sami chimes in about how he's been moving and going through the process with two distinctly different trucks. First he says some things about the 2033 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition, and then compares those thoughts to the 2023 Toyota Tundra SR5. Hear how these rides helped and hindered his move.
Then Ben had a chance encounter with the owner of the only (known) Brazilian Dodge Charger in North America. Hear what makes this such a cool find and how it came to find a home right outside of Montreal. Thanks for listening and chime in next week!

Luxury knows few bounds, and that lack of limits extends itself to the Unnamed Automotive Podcast this week. First up is the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali, a high-end version of a premium mid-sized pickup . As the Canyon is only available with a 2.7L turbo engine and with a specific cab and bed arrangement, it'll be interesting to hear how Benjamin feels about this so-called luxury truck—and of course, whether General Motors can get its build quality up to snuff.
Then Sami talks about electrification in the luxury world, as he recently had a go in the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre. A large, two door EV with an asking price north of $400,000, the Spectre goes against recent trends in the luxury EV space, and has several reasons to be so counter-culture. Its luxury experience comes from feeling special, and the Spectre has high hopes to make our esteemed hosts feel anything at all.

The automotive world doesn't revolve solely around crossovers, as the Unnamed Automotive Podcast dives into the world of NEW sedans, wagons and sportbacks in this episode. First Sami drives the amped up 2024 Audi RS6 Avant Performance and Audi RS7 Sportback Performance models. Featuring more power, more grip, better handling and a fancier cabin, these expensive luxury cars seem to be the total package, so long as you ignore the price that can net you multiple cars for the sum of one new Audi.
Then Benjamin chimes in with his experience in the unique looking 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 sedan. Featuring the same running gear as the popular IONIQ 5, the 6 has a completely different profile, catering more to sedan-savvy shoppers than the crossover-crazed consumers. Does this new look offer any more benefits over the 5?

Keep your guard up, as cool cars can come from any direction, this week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast. First up this week, the guys dive back into the world of GR, or Gazoo Racing, as Benjamin shares his thoughts on driving the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla. This all-wheel-drive, manual-only hot hatch features 300 horsepower and a rally-influenced design, but Benjamin comes away with some unique impressions as the Corolla may not be as refined or well-behaved as one might expect.
Then Sami jumps into the exotic world of Lamborghini. However this isn't just any Lambo he drove, but the 2024 Huracan Sterrato, an off-road oriented version of the supercar that's never been done before. Boasting meaty all terrain tires, extra ground clearance and a function-over-form approach to its air intake, this thing captured Sami's imagination in a completely unexpected way.

Compact cars galore this week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast as the guys riff about the 2024 Subaru Impreza that Sami recently tested. With no sedan or manual options, along with a "sporty" RS trim, this new Impreza seems a bit limited in terms of its appeal. Is this a better or worse buy than the very similar Crosstrek? Is Subaru just phoning in its hatchbacks? Listen to hear the final word!
Then Benjamin brings up the 2023 Acura Integra, something both of our hosts have tested and have many thoughts about. Ben raves about the manual transmission while diving deep into the sport-compact luxury market, as Sami says Honda and Acura are on a downward spiral, minimizing its enthusiast appeal by limiting and hiding features to different badges.

First up this week, Sami explains the theory behind the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, and whether Grand is a title that is earned through service and recognition, or just one that is bestowed due to size. This new Toyota boasts three rows of seats, three different powertrains and a cool new infotainment system, but Sami points out a few concerns he has with this pricey crossover.
Then Benjamin takes a tangent to talk about the 2023 Lexus RX 350h, one of the luxury brands most popular products that has recently been redesigned. Is this the same crossover with a new look, or has Lexus introduced any new wrinkles to its best seller?
Finally, the conversation pivots to one about towing with driver assistance, as Benjamin describes his recent experience hauling his track car while piloting a Cadillac Escalade with Super Cruise. And of course, just for fun, the guys talk about some weird BMW news.

The weather is warming up and that means its time to talk about some fun summer cars and topics! If you're asking "What does that mean?" then consider this week's episode as a primer. First up, Benjamin revisits the 2023 Toyota GR Supra, but this time its equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. After a lukewarm reception a few years ago, Benjamin finds out if the three-pedalled variant changes things for the better, and whether the Supra is in a precarious position due to its pricing and performance.
Then Sami chimes in with some sports-car stories of his own, describing his time in the 2024 Jaguar F-Type 75. A celebration of Jaguar's coupe and convertible, this model boasts plenty of power, but carries around the British brands legacy. Our hosts talk about what that means, and how the brand will continue without a two-door in the road map.

Can the Lightning power up a stranded EV? Sami begs Benjamin to tell us if the future of electric trucks bleak or promising.

The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is a bit less familiar, but has a few interesting changes compared to the similar Hyundai Tucson PHEV. When you've got over 300 episodes under your belt, you get the chance to see how things have changed in the industry, and this week at the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, the guys are applying a bit of hindsight to the cars they've been testing. First up Benjamin grabs the keys to the new 2023 Hyundai Palisade, and wonders if the industry has caught up to the standard set by the three-row back when it launched in 2019. Or is Hyundai just sitting back and waiting for its rivals to arrive? While discussing the latest updates to the crossover, Sami and Benjamin also reminisce about what the world was like when the SUV first dropped, whether things are any better in this segment, and shout out a few ideas about what automakers are following in Hyundai's footprints.
Then Sami brings up the high-performance 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. Having driven multiple EVs and even the standard Mach-E, the guys talk about whether the GT is special at all, and what it can do, if anything, that others can't. With so many EVs on the market boasting impressive straight-line speed, can the Mach-E still justify its $60k pricetag even with its lacking interior and frustrating user interface?

These guys went and did it again: an accidental "oops, all Toyota!" edition of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast flies out of the web and into your ears this week. First, Ben drives the 2023 Toyota Mirai so he can discuss the feasability of the hydrogen powered future that Toyota is harping on. With sleek styling, and harsh limitations and middling performance, is this really what Toyota sees as the future?
Then the guys talk about the brands unwavering position against ZEV mandates, and whether they're just sour about being on the wrong side of the "EVs vs everything" fight.
Finally, Sami talks about his recent experience in Europe and talks about the coolest Toyota vehicles he saw at their TWO museums in Cologne, Germany. Did you know: electrons are powering the latest cars tested on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, and also everything around you? We're slowly coming to terms with that as Benjamin and Sami try out some new EVs and hybrid vehicles. First up on the show, (beyond the food tangent that infrequently occurs on the podcast) is the 2023 Genesis GV60 and its oh so tempting BOOST button. Benjamin shares his thoughts on the Korean luxury EV, and why he hasn't gotten his E-GMP badge yet. To show that times are really changing, Benjamin even warms up to some of the biometric features found in the Genesis - a discussion you won't want to miss.
Then Sami jumps into action to talk about the recently updated 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. As large sedans lose their fun factor, Sami seems convinced that the Accord is managing the transition to comfy, family vehicle, with impressive fuel efficiency. At just over $30k this Honda should work for a lot of people, but time will tell if it maintains its popularity in this Crossover-crazy world.
Speaking of crazy, if you were worried about something, would being forced to go into an escape room help? Don't miss our wacky news analysis coming straight from VW's recently concerned employees. Listen, rate, subscribe and do all that fun stuff!

Off-roading or on-roading, the Unnamed Automotive Podcast is here to help you get through your week. First up this week, Sami talks about the 2023 Honda Passport Trailsport, a somewhat MORE off-road oriented version of an SUV Honda proclaimed was already capable off-road. The Trailsport gets rugged-style tires, fun badging, and skid-plates, as well as a higher price point, but is that enough to make it recommendable over other, more off-road oriented SUVs? Plus how many times in a segment can Sami say sport? You be the judge!
Then Benjamin brings up the 2023 Subaru Legacy XT, also known as the sedan counterpart of the popular and instantly recognizable Subaru Outback. Benjamin's time in the Legacy brought out many existential questions like 'is this car good?' 'why does this car matter?' and 'who is buying this car?' which could only be worked through on this week's episode of the podcast. Be sure to listen and chime in later.
Finally, the guys talk about armored and bullet-proof vehicles, , what's involved in building them, and who needs such a service. Be sure to listen, review, subscribe and reach out to us on social media or our website.

This week's episode also includes Benjamin's review of a 2023 BMW X3 M Competition, a luxury SUV with 503 horsepower, three-sport modes, a variety of transmission settings and the least winter-ready snow tires we've ever seen. At $80k, is this BMW X3 going to hit up a track on the way to the grocery store, or is it just drag racing everyone at the stop-light?
Then as the guys close the podcast, we get into a deep discussion about snacks and treats, so don't stop listening to the VERY END! Thanks and see you all next week!

We hope you have a surgeon on speed-dial because this weeks episode of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast is entirely DEEP CUTS! Especially if you're familiar with the concept of GROWING UP! It's fun times in minivans here starting with Benjamin's review of the 2023 Toyota Sienna, with its funky design, hybrid powertrain and approachable pricing. In-between jokes about old vans and weird names, Benjamin explains that his time in the Toyota wasn't without incident, so be sure to listen to his whole experience to get the entire picture.
Then Sami gets his fun captured by the CabinWatch camera found in the 2023 Honda Odyssey, which has lost its killer suction-related app but gained a few other weird gimmicks. With 280 VTEC ponies on tap, this minivan is a screamer, or at least its passengers were certainly making some noise! This week, the guys are talking off-road-oriented SUVs, with significant redesigns.
Right off the bat, Sami starts the episode by describing the all-new, totally different, completely redesigned 2023 Honda Pilot, much to Benjamin's skepticism. Sami jumps into the three-row crossover and its off-road TrailSport trim, and tells you all the ways Honda has made this family friendly vehicle more competitive and exciting. Plus they talk about Christian Slater a bit, and Benjamin admits Sami was right about one piece of obscure car history.
Then Benjamin chimes in to explain his time in the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport P400 SE. All new for this year, the Range Rover Sport has a lot of ground to make up in this cutthroat segment, and Benjamin has a lot of thoughts about how the European brand manages. While referencing the Defender he drove recently, Benjamin even forgets all about other pure-SUV brands like Jeep, so now we can point and laugh at him (but in a friendly way!)

With 300 or so episodes under their belt, it seems like the hosts of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast are taking things a bit more seriously... that is, after the unbelivable holiday break and other international shenanigans. While Sami keeps things light-hearted and entertaining, Benjamin dives into the new 2023 Land Rover Defender 130, which is billed as "the more family friendly rugged off-roader." After the new Defender gains a whole new standard row of seating, and 500 pounds of mass, Benjamin has plenty to say about the big SUV, and where it stands in the never-ending list of SUVs on the market.
Then the guys talk about the 2023 BMW M850i Coupe, a Grand Tourer that seemingly nails the execution and sticks the landing. Powerful, attractive, comfortable and high-tech, the guys wonder what the BMW can't do, and try to figure out which other vehicles simply check all the boxes they're supposed to without trying to be everything to everyone.
Finally, the guys talk about the latest news from General Motors regarding the Chevrolet C8 Corvette e-Ray. Don't forget to subscribe and review, and if you liked today's episode why not tip the team through Ko-Fi.

New year, new S-You-Vs! The the Unnamed Automotive Podcast returns with a pair of 'off-road inspired' SUVs to talk about. Benjamin gets plenty of time in the new 2023 Kia Sportage X-Line, and asks if ruggedness was standard in past iterations of the Kia cute-ute. The pair discuss the variety of options and features available in the Kia, and compare it to the recent Honda CR-V to determine which one is best destined for buyers driveways.
Then Sami chimes in about his experience with the 2023 Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition with the Apex Package. A stylish crossover with high-end, off-road aspirations, Sami and Benjamin seem a bit puzzled at its place in the lineup. Can it still be a success story despite awkward pricing, size, and infotainment?

If you want to spend your Christmas talking cars, your two favorite podcasts hosts are here for you. First Sami discusses his time in the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80, an all-electric version of the executive sedan that put the Korean luxury brand on the map. Hear Sami describe what compromises were made in this conversion, and whether the EV is a better buy over its gas-powered variant.
Then Benjamin chimes in with his experience of the 2023 Honda CR-V, a car that's been thoroughly redesigned and updated, but doesn't look or feel like it has. Benjamin compares the CR-V experience to a variety of drinkable, seemingly innocuous liquids, in order to make a point that Sami struggles to make work in an audio format.

Then Sami chimes in with a recap of the 2023 Subaru Ascent, and relates it to his experience in the recently refreshed 2023 model. Then Sami chimes in to talk about his recent expereince in the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and his journey to 10 different DC Fast Charging stations in his area. It's hatchback mania at the Unnamed Automotive Podcast—but these practical five-doors are more than a bit unusual. First Sami talks about the 2023 Honda Civic Type R, which has gotten a fairly substantial overhaul this year. Thanks to raised expectations from the more premium base Civic, the Type R feels more mature, yet Sami says this hasn't impacted the rowdiness of the hot hatch. After a few prodding and overly-personal questions, Benjamin and Sami decide whether the new Civic Type R is worth the $44k price tag it commands.
Then Benjamin chimes in about his experience in the all-electric 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic, which features a roof-hinged rear cargo area, making it a hatchback, or sportback, or notchback, or something other than a sedan. With 350 miles of range, and plenty of power, this green flagshipalso happens to look almost completely anonymous. Still, it features a ride worthy of the 'S' letter, and Benjamin goes on to note several highlights and lowlights about the many features and gadgets in this six-figure ride.

No sports cars were harmed in the making of this week's episode, as Benjamin and Sami talk about the brand new 2023 Nissan Z coupe, which features a unique blend of old and new. Benjamin managed to keep the Z for a whole week, and put it through its paces, testing out all aspects of the new coupe. With a twin-turbo V6 originally from Infiniti, a tweaked platform from the last gen 370Z, and exterior design cues borrowed from the Z's long history, there's plenty to talk about. Sami and Benjamin talk about the company, CVTs, driving feel and refinement before adding another experience to the mix.
Extra discussion arrives with the introduction of the 2022 VW Golf R, which is more expensive and more powerful than the WRX, but delivers a less authentic sport compact feel. Sami says it's high end and high tech, but the car has some significant issues, especially with its user interface.

With 550 ponies and an accompanying eight-cylinder soundtrack to boot, he has plenty to say about this European SUV while the rest of its rivals wave goodbye to high displacement engines for good.
Sami on the other hand is here to talk about the new 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid, and is amazed at how much it's grown over the years. Now reasonably high end, the Sportage has a few small issues but leaves some big impressions.
Also, someone stole Benjamin's press vehicle this week. That sucks!

Sami just jumped off a plane from Copenhagen where he got up close and impersonal with the 2024 Polestar 3. While the automaker claims this is the true expression of the Polestar brand, Sami and Benjamin dive into whether or not that's true, drilling into the design language, technology, interior and psychology of the brand. Also, is Polestar luxury or not? Whats the deal here?
Then Benjamin rekindles his love affair with all things V8 and powerful by testing out the latest 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack, a large coupe that's in its last year of production. Old-school and still cool, the Scat Pack seems to occupy a sweet spot in the Challenger lineup.
Finally, the pair put their heads together and congratulate Cadillac for making a car by hand, something Tesla has done for way too long. The Celestiq will cost an eye watering $300,000 and will be one of the few truly special Caddys out there according to the guys, and you may want to hear why.

Aren't you tired of hearing the Unnamed Automotive Podcast cover mainstream cars that you might actually see on the road? First up Benjamin talks about the 2022 Lexus LX600, which rides on a new platform and features a fresh powertrain. As usual, there are a more than a few tangents about related vehicles and the latest updates to GM's Super Cruise feature.

First Drive: 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport PHEV — The latest trend in the automotive industry is to tough up a utility vehicle and sell it at a premium price as an aspirational object to those with deep pockets. Sometimes it doesn’t feel quite genuine; other times it feels like blatantly cashing in on a fad. But Range Rover has been offering high-end, go-anywhere kinds of SUVs for decades, allowing the company a bit more flexibility regarding how to stand out. The solution seems to be electrification, with our first taste coming with the Range Rover Sport Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PHEV).Review: The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V Is a Roadgoing Mega Yacht With Rocket Power — The Saturn V was the king of all rockets, a towering, 363-foot monument to escaping the surly bonds of Earth, its 7.6 million pounds of thrust defying not just gravity but also its own 3,100 tons of mass on the way towards pushing manned spaceflight further into the solar system than ever before. Back on the surface of our planet, Cadillac has just unveiled its own ultra-heavy rocket: the Escalade-V, a startling merger of the brand’s largest sport-utility vehicle and its most powerful supercharged V8 engine.Like what you hear? Whoa now, are you looking for more automotive shenanigans and blabber? Then you came to the right place, as Sami and Benjamin are eager to share their thoughts on the latest happenings in the automotive industry. First Benjamin talks about the 2022 Hyundai Kona N, a high-performance, yet front-wheel-drive crossover that may have spelled doom for the first Hyunda N product. Hear how a capital-E enthusiast like Ben feels about a FWD, automatic-only performance car, and then take a trip back in time with him to when weird spicy crossovers were all the rage.
Then flyboy Sami talks about his bizarre mission from Europe, where he tested out the not-for-America 2023 Mazda CX-60. The CX-60 features the same platform and powertrain of the upcoming CX-90, just in a smaller package, so now Sami and you, our odeal listener, have an idea of what's going on behind the doors at Mazda. It's easy to forget that this automaker worked on such wild ideas as the compression ignition engine, rotary engine and DEF-less diesel engine, so what can go wrong with another weird change of pace? Benjamin also provides an interesting update on his Grand Wagoneer, and explains why he won't be towing with it anytime soon.

Benjamin revs up the episode with his review of the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N, a high-performance compact sedan that seems to be running away with all the attention in its class. Featuring a turbo, spoilers, sticky tires, and beefy brakes, Ben dives into the nitty gritty of the Elantra and the N-brand's history.
Then Sami brings his unique brand of energy into the podcast when describing the 2023 Genesis GV60, an all-electric crossover based on the same bones as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6. While Sami sounds impressed with the performance and pricing of the GV60, he seems confused about all the weird tech and gimmicks in the car. Usually a techie, he can't figure out the value added by features like Boost and Drift Mode, or biometric face and fingerprint scanning.

What's it like when you add 470 horsepower to a chassis that already shudders at half that output? Benjamin scrapes his brains off the floor and attempts to make sense of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, a truck so crazy that not even SRT was willing to put its name on it.
Sami then explains how confusing his time in the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLB35 was. Is this a hot hatch? A 'cheap' Mercedes-Benz that costs more than $60k? Or is it yet another in a line of front-wheel drive Silver Star-badged rides that continue to miss the mark at the entry level?

Sami and Benjamin have returned from their vacations with plenty of stories to tell. First the two catch up with all the cool cars and sights during their travels, with Ben reflecting on a certain era of vehicle that stands out in his mind after an unusual old school Honda Pilot encounter.
Then the pair dive into a conversation about the new 2022 Kia EV6, an all-electric car that's mechanically similar to the Hyundai IONIQ 5, but with different styling and, somehow, more range. Benjamin describes his experience in vivid detail and explains why the EV6 nets 20 more miles on the EPA test cycle, along with the car's fatal flaw. You'll definitely want to hear whether or not you should pick one up over the similar IONIQ.
Then the two talk about some news that's been burning through automotive circles. Then Benjamin takes a walk on the wild side with the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness, an all-new trim package that boasts several off road modifications, similar to last year's Outback Wilderness. He seems pretty impressed with the effort applied by Subaru but he eventually gets pulled into a conversation about who exactly this crossover is made for.

First Benjamin jumps in and talks about the massive hole left in VW's lineup that is being replaced by the 2022 Volkswagen Taos subcompact crossover. Its another twisty-turvy episode of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, so buckle in and get ready! First Benjamin describes how he wasn't on the hype-train for the new 2022 Ford Maverick compact pickup truck. After hearing tons of other journalists, and even Sami talk it up a pedestal, Benjamin still had to try it for himself. Given his love for the Hyundai Santa Cruze, could the Maverick ever measure up? Also what did he put in the small cubbie on the dash? Find out his thoughts on where the Maverick fits in the wide automotive landscape, and whether its worth the money Ford is asking for it.

Then Sami brings up some news topics, including Kia's push for EVs which may or may not include some pickup trucks, which has our hosts wondering, are there enough EV pickups? Speaking of which, news was shared about the upcoming Ram EV Pickup, which will use a body on frame design, making it fairly unique in the world of EVs. Then we get a closer look at the upcoming Jeep EV. Benjamin also shares his mild enthusiasm for a recently released Kia musical instrument.
Finally, to end the episode, Benjamin describes a '90s phenomenom known as Hands on a Hard Body. A contest that stressed out participants mentally and physically, it left a mark on Benjamin with its sad 2000s coda. Listen to all of this and don't forget to rate, review and subscribe for more great automotive content.
