Yield10 expects to scale-up planted acres of Camelina to supply BioMar with oil for formulation and testing while also working towards securing regulatory approval for commercial production of Omega-3 Camelina oil and meal in the targeted production geographies. Producing omega-3 oil in Camelina represents a land-based way to make this key aquafeed ingredient, a crucial step as the aquaculture industry faces obstacles of overfishing. These new Omega-3 Camelina products contain EPA and DHA at levels comparable to many of the marine oil sources utilized today.
As an agricultural bioscience company, using its differentiated trait gene discovery platform to develop improved Camelina varieties for the production of proprietary seed products. Fri, 05 Jan 2024 - 122 - What kinds of work can you do if you're an international aquaculture consultant? Hint: RAS is a big part :)
In this episode, we have Daniel Rodriguez talked to us what it's like to be in international consulting in the aquaculture industry.
He has several years of professional experience defined by an extensive background in almost all aspects of controlled environmental farming of aquatic organisms including facilities design and operation programs. During the past 7 years, in an intensive RAS steelhead salmon facility in upstate New York, I directed a 3 million dollars pilot for pacific white shrimp production using biofloc and RAS technologies obtaining promising results.Previously, he worked as an Aquaculture Research Associate for the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aqua-cultures of Auburn University in the Marine Aquaculture Research Center located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Working on the intensive production of White shrimp, Red Snapper, Pompano and live feeds as microalgae and zooplankton for marine larval rearing production programs. A few years later I moved to Canada, working as consultant for large farming RAS operations producing Rainbow Trout, Atlantic salmon and Black cod.

Carole Engle has devoted more than 35 years to aquaculture research, extension, and teaching. In addition to publishing more than 110 scientific articles, four books, and more than 80 extension publications, she has a combined 49 years of editorial experience, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of Aquaculture Economics and Management. She has been honored with numerous awards from the U.S. Aquaculture Society, the National Aquaculture Association, the Catfish Farmers of America, and the Catfish Farmers of Arkansas. Engle was on the faculty of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) for more than 27 years and, as Director of the Aquaculture/Fisheries Center and Chairperson of the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries, led it through a period of rapid growth, development, and expansion. She has worked closely with aquaculture businesses around the world and values the contributions that science has made to the growth and development of successful aquaculture businesses on many scales of production. Recently retired from UAPB, Engle plans to continue her involvement with aquaculture science and industry through her involvement with the journal of the world aquaculture society.
