Season 1 of Extant ends with an amazing finale, Ascension, which leaves a lot of conclusions up to the audience but in the best possible way. The suspense and emotional moments of the episode were compelling and satisfying, even if the show doesn't end up with a season 2.

The penultimate episode rarely disappoints! As we head into the Extant finale, Before the Blood gives us more answers to our questions, including Odin's plan, the Offspring's appearance, and the nature of the Seraphim's dilemma. What remains to be seen is what the alien's plan is and what part Yasumoto will play in the climax.

Extant keeps up its rapid pace of storytelling in Wish You Were Here as Molly finally shares her secret with John, and not a second too soon as hallucinations and circle-pattern-induced pain continue to haunt her. Director Sparks and Deputy Director Kern are trying to control the situation to no avail, but Sam Barton has been detained. And where is Harmon Kryger? Many mysteries persist, including Ethan's continuing fascination with birds. Read more...

Looks like Extant is not going to hold off on revealing secrets too long, and we're grateful for it! In Extinct, investigations continue into what happened to Molly during her year in space to cause her to return pregnant. Ethan makes some discoveries about his mother's secret that may lead him down an unexpected path, while we learn more about what makes the young android tick. Director Sparks and the ailing Yasumoto have their own secrets as well, and we'll spend a good portion of the season, no doubt, wondering who "they" are. Read more...

Despite the fact that we knew much of the content of the premiere episode of Extant based on the promotional material, there were still plenty of surprises in Re-Entry. The identity of the "man in the shadows" in particular got my eyebrows to pop up. Pilots are a tricky business: how do you balance all the exposition with an engaging, action-packed narrative? Luckily, the series premiere had just the right amount of both as well as many discussable mysteries that are perfect for a podcast. Read more...
