Moon Knight is UPON US! We break down the premiere episode of the highly anticipated first foray into the MCU's dark underworld. and then yeah, we also unfortunately talk about Morbius (boo) and holy shit is it terrible.
Thu, 07 Apr 2022 - 1h 14min - 159 - March News-Cast
Not much going on since we last podcasted so we break down some news from over the last month and talk about what we’ve been watching. Spider-Man crosses $600 million domestically, the Morbius (boo) director straight up SPOILS the post credits scene, Tom Cruise goes to war with the studio over the MI:7 budget, Barry Keoghan’s Joker is revealed in a The Batman deleted scene AND so much more on this episode of Pop! Pop!

Simply: The Batman. But also we have Carsen Greene from The Movie Mavens Podcast on the show today to help us break down why (or if?) this iteration of The Dark Knight is the best one yet. Follow Movie Mavens @MovieMavens on IG and listen to their show anywhere you get your podcast fix.
Mon, 07 Mar 2022 - 1h 51min - 157 - Peacemaker & Book of Boba Finales
Two shows, two finales, but only one of them doesn't suck. We don't want to point fingers, but there's a reason we demoted Book of Boba Fett from the main topic originally... Book of Boba Fett tries hard to salvage its subpar first season but only Peacemaker delivers on all fronts. Joel also has the longest "what we've been watching" ever, which is a first for him.
Wed, 02 Mar 2022 - 2h 12min - 156 - Peacemaker & Book of Boba Fett Eps 5-6
We come back to continue reviewing this season of Peacemaker AND The Book of Boba Fett got so damn good that we had to make it a main topic again… kudos to them & Bryce Dallas Howard specifically.
Mon, 07 Feb 2022 - 2h 30min - 155 - Scream & Peacemaker 1-4
"My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at meeeeee" That's right, Scream is back in theaters and it's even more meta than Matrix Resurrections (if you can believe that) Scream '96 is a classic and the gang discusses if this Requel holds up or not. Then we dive into Peacemaker episodes 1-4, and it turns out the only thing needed to get Joel to LOVE something in the DC universe is: James Gunn. If you ever skip this opening title sequence, you're dead to us. (we continue talking about Book of Boba, but none of us are impressed enough to make it the main topic anymore. Skip to what we've been watching if that's what you're here for)
Sat, 22 Jan 2022 - 2h 11min - 154 - Book of Boba Fett 1 & 2
There's so much goddamn news in this episode that's why it's over 2 hours long... People have died, people have farted in jars, and there's even some DC news! We break down the first two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett and honestly, it's a much smaller segment than all of the news... which I think says something. It's FUN... but do we like it!?
Fri, 14 Jan 2022 - 1h 56min - 153 - Hawkeye Finale & Matrix Resurrections
Hawkeye closes out with some big surprises and cameos but what does it mean for the MCU & will it warrant a season 2!? Then Taylor and Joel are at odds (rare) about if Matrix Resurrections sucks or not... uh oh.
Tue, 28 Dec 2021 - 2h 10min - 152 - Spider-Man: No Way Home Review
There's not much to say about this except that we review the best damn Spider-Man movie to ever exist.
Sat, 18 Dec 2021 - 2h 39min - 151 - Hawkeye 1-4 Review
In true Pop! Pop! form we all got a little busy (Joel got stuck in the UK) so this podcast is going to be about the first 2/3rds of the new Hawkeye show. Clint Barton goes street level in the new D+ show based on a comic by Matt Fraction and there's loads to love here. Clint & Kate's chemistry is absolutely electric and there are cameos galore to be had!
Mon, 13 Dec 2021 - 1h 32min - 150 - Eternals & Spider-Man NWH Trailer
Eternals is out and has been getting a lot of flack from reviewers; we break down who liked it, who didn't, and if the critics are right. And, as always, it wouldn't be a Pop! Pop! episode if we didn't talk about Spider-Man... So thankfully, a whole-ass new trailer came out for NWH and yeah... Joel loves it.
Sun, 21 Nov 2021 - 1h 36min - 149 - DnD (Dune & DCFandome)
DCFandome was last weekend (the weekend prior? I don't know) and we got a fuckload of trailers as always (one other time) but the one that the whole world really cared about was The Batman trailer. R-Pattz debuts his Batman voice and we get a much deeper look at the world of The Batman compared to the first teaser. Let's just say... we are all pleased. AND THEN! Everyone saw Dune... there are some differing opinions about this movie here, so better to just tune in and listen for yourself! (Joel loved it)
Fri, 29 Oct 2021 - 1h 43min - 148 - Spider-Man 3 to be Live Action Spider-Verse?
Jamie Foxx has been confirmed to be in Spider-Man 3 as Electro and Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange will also be in the movie... does this mean that we'll be getting the multi-verse in Spider-Man 3 and will the other Spider-Men be in it!? It's very surprising news, and to some... it's worrisome.
Sun, 11 Oct 2020 - 1h 37min - 147 - RIP Chadwick Boseman / MCU casts Kang the Conquerer
We lost the King of Wakanda recently and it came as a shock to EVERYONE. We honor Chadwick Boseman and say our goodbyes. In some less depressing news, Jonathan Majors has been cast as Kang the Conquerer for Ant-Man 3! Is this the new MCU Saga villain? Or will he be more of an Ultron mini-boss situation? We break down all the implications and MORE!
Tue, 15 Sep 2020 - 1h 24min - 146 - DCFanDome Recap (The Batman)
A lot of stuff happened at DCFanDome over the weekend but let's be honest, we're here to talk about The Batman. We break down everything from the Black Adam concept art to the goddamn Snyder cut trailer, but all hail the Battinson!
Tue, 25 Aug 2020 - 2h 39min - 145 - Spider-Man 3 to be titled Homesick?
This week is a pretty heavy news-cast! Nia DaCosta (Candyman, Little Woods) has been tapped to direct Captain Marvel 2; she'll be the first African-American woman to direct a major Marvel film. Quentin Tarantino's mythical Star Trek film is finally no-more, he's confirmed that he's dropping out. Disney has mangled the 20th Century Fox name, removing the "Fox" title entirely and just calling it "20th television." Shawn Ashmore has been added to season 2 of The Boys, The Fresh Prince is getting a gritty dramatic reboot, and Olivia Munn is reportedly returning to her headlining role of G4TV. The main topic this week, just because it's Spider-Man, is that the third film might be called "Homesick." Is he on the run? In hiding? Does he have Covid!? We break down all the implications!
Fri, 14 Aug 2020 - 1h 30min - 144 - Mulan Releasing on Disney +
There's a bunch of rapid-fire news this week: Courteney Cox returning for Scream 5, The Rock buys the XFL for some reason, a new Suicide Squad logo for James Gunn's birthday, Captain Marvel 2 gets a new director and RIP Wilford Brimley. The meat and potatoes of this episode is the big news that Mulan will be releasing on Disney+ for an additional $30 on top of your Disney+ subscription. Good idea? Bad idea? We break it all down!
Thu, 06 Aug 2020 - 1h 16min - 143 - Universal & AMC Finale / SDCC @ Home Recap
There are a few major news pieces such as another (unwanted) update on The Snyder Cut, the titillating finale of the Universal & AMC war, and finally a firm decision on what's happening with Christopher Nolan's Tenet. After the news roundup, we dive into SDCC @ Home - discussing panels we all saw and whether or not the virtual con was able to fill the shoes of its real-life counterpart.
Wed, 29 Jul 2020 - 2h 11min - 142 - Is Hollywood Ready to Reopen?
Pop! Pop! first and foremost wants to voice their support for Black Lives Matter! If you don't, you should probably stop listening to us. In this episode we talk about the new "Bill and Ted 3" trailer, the trailer for Star Wars' new videogame "Squadrons," and how "Evil Dead" is going on a roadshow! Then Joel rages over toxic fanboys getting what they want from HBO, who's putting 20 million dollars into "The Snyder Cut" ... which supposedly already existed, but apparently not. To round things out, the crew discusses whether or not Hollywood is ready to open again smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. From AMC theaters to productions returning to filming, we cover it all!
Fri, 19 Jun 2020 - 1h 56min - 141 - Universal vs. AMC
Comic-Con has officially been canceled so this podcast is just 2 hours of Joel crying... JK! While SDCC isn't happening this year, Star Wars celebration has yet to cancel amidst the growing Covid-19 concerns. Other topics this week include: Sony stupidly names their stupid Spider-Man universe, Vid Diesel and the producers guild butt heads, the Russo brothers are working the live-action Hercules remake, and for one year only streaming films will be eligible for the 2021 Academy Awards! This week's main topic follows up with AMC's drama from the last podcast. Universal and AMC seem to be fighting, resulting in AMC saying they'll no longer screen Universal movies! GASP!
Sat, 02 May 2020 - 1h 30min - 140 - AMC Going Under!?
Look, there's not much going on in the world, we talk about what we've all been watching (yes that includes TIGER KING!) and then we discuss the sad reality that AMC may have to close its doors forever!
Fri, 17 Apr 2020 - 1h 03min - 139 - CoronaCast: the Hollywood Shutdown
With everyone on quarantine, we unfortunately have to deliver you all another skype-cast (well, google hangouts this time) With Hollywood shutdown indefinitely, not only have all three of us been affected work-wise, but dozens of blockbusters including Black Widow, Wonder Woman 1984, James Bond 25... and many more have been delayed until later this year! Films currently in production, like Mission Impossible 7, have also been put on hold until further notice. Amidst all of this, some studios are opting to release their films straight to VOD... how will all of this change the shape of the industry and will we ever see a movie in theaters again!? Tune in to hear our thoughts on where the global pandemic could push our industry!
Fri, 27 Mar 2020 - 1h 17min - 138 - Birds of Prey

We look back at our Oscar predictions and weigh them against the results and we break down the first ever footage of Robert Pattinson in the new Batman suit! There's much more news stuffed into this episode but the main course is a Birds of Prey review! I bet you can guess who in this group wasn't a big fan...

Before the main course, the news of the week has rumors of a Moon Knight casting, the Agents of Shield going galactic, and a certain Nickelodian obstacle course show coming back... for adults. Then we take a deep, deep, deep, dive into STAR WARS: The Rise of Skywalker. Surprisingly (or maybe not?) there are some differing opinions on the movie. Tune in to find out who hates or loves what, and WHY!?
Tue, 24 Dec 2019 - 2h 04min - 135 - November NewsCast
There really wasn't any huge news this week, and we all couldn't make time to see the same movie... So we're bringing back the all news cast! If I previewed all that here, you'd have no reason to listen to the episode... So just listen to it already! Alright I'll give you a little taste... We talk some MAD shit on people who tweeted about releasing the Snyder cut...
Mon, 25 Nov 2019 - 2h 14min - 134 - Doctor Sleep
It's our 50th episode! 50! Over four years! And in true Pop! Pop! fashion... We did absolutely nothing special for the occasion. We are consistent (??) though because we've got some nerd news for you all! Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis have been tapped to play The Penguin and Alfred resptively in the upcoming Matt Reeves' Batman film; Benioff & Weiss have "exited" Star Wars, and by exited, we think they got fired; Ant-Man 3 and Into the Spiderverse 2 have finally been confirmed and to round the episode out, we review the sequel to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Doctor Sleep!

We round this podcast out with a concise little Zombieland 2: Double Tap review! (it's a short review for a reason... ) All of this AND MORE, on this week's episode of Pop! Pop!

Mon, 14 Oct 2019 - 1h 44min - 130 - Star Wars Courts Kevin Feige
This week starts off with a solid trailer round up! The Gentlemen, 6 Underground, The Kingsman and Birds of Prey all dropped new trailers this last week and boy howdy are (three of them at least) they great! For your meat and potatoes, Tom Holland apparently had an integral role in Disney and Sony making up and Kevin freaking Feige is coming to the Star Wars universe with an unknown project down the pipeline.
Thu, 03 Oct 2019 - 1h 16min - 129 - Battle at Big Rock
Lauren Sperling may as well live in Taylor's garage because she's back AGAIN for this week's episode! Amongst a bevy of Nerd News, the gang reviews Colin Trevorrow's (boooo) new Jurrasic World short film, "The Battle at Big Rock."

It's a HUGE news week everyone so let's just dive right in! Lauren has finally caught up on The Boys, James Bond 25 has a title, the Keanu-ssance has peaked with the announcement of The Matrix 4, and D23 is this weekend where Taylor will be reporting LIVE from the field! The juiciest news to be squeezed this week is that Sony and Disney are in a custody battle over Spider-Man. 50/50? 70/30? 80/20? WHAT'S A FAIR DEAL!? Tune in to find out what the fuck is happening!

Anywho, this week the guys talk about some Blu-Ray reviews Taylor has been working on and Joel breaks down Marvel Comic's recent X-Men reboot. Then for the main meat, we've got a review of Amazon's The Boys for you AND a dissection of which movies Disney is keeping and which are getting canned in the Fox merger deal. We also promised a link to the Reddit thread, and we remembered, so here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/cnfixp/a_comprehensive_list_of_all_the_former_fox/
Tue, 13 Aug 2019 - 1h 47min - 126 - Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
This week the guys start with a chat about what they've been watching; Taylor jumped on the Amazon train with The Boys & Joel is relating a little to closely with HBO's Euphoria. Taika Watiti's new film, Jo Jo Rabbit has a new trailer out and it's pleasently weird; Shang Chi & Thor: Love & Thunder are both shooting in Australia; and the Zombieland 2: Double Tap trailer slightly disappoints!Your main course this week is a stoned review of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! We love Quentin Tarantino, but does the movie NEED to be almost three hours long!? Tune in and find out what we think!
Sun, 28 Jul 2019 - 1h 20min - 125 - Comic-Con 2019: Thursday - Sunday
We know, we know we didn't post a new episode every night of the con... but we DO have a very good reason for that, and it's in this SUPERSIZED recap episode! We talk about every goddamn offsite event that exists, every goddamn hotel bar that we drank at, every goddamn (this one is an exaggeration) trailer that was realeased over the weekend, and the big kahuna itself: HALL H ! Look, we know that Westworld, The Walking Dead, and Star Trek all had panels in Hall H... but so did MARVEL and that's all that really matters when they're announcing the highly anticipated Phase Four! And yes, I do use too many exclamation points! Deal with it! Tune in for the (probably) the only Comic-Con recap that matters!

All this and more on this episode of Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast!
Thu, 04 Jul 2019 - 2h 44min - 121 - X-Men: Dark Phoenix
What's up nerds!? Bet you're freaked out by this semi-regular schedule aren't you? Well, this week the nerd news is pretty short! The guys discuss the early cancellation of Swamp Thing (lol DC) because apparently they're trying to be the next Firefly... too soon? Then, a quick breakdown & review of the newest season of Black Mirror. Spoilers: it's good. No one who has ever graced the presence of this podcast has been shy about their hatred for Fox's X-Men franchise, and no movie has been anticiapted with such hatred quite like Dark Phoenix has... but... Maybe we were wrong? Go in knowing this - there are three versions of Dark Phoenix: the movie which is set within the continuity-fucked Fox X-verse, the movie which is a standalone send off to the franchise, and the movie which is just one long Cyclops showreel. One is good, the other is terrible... But which one is hands down amazing? You'll have to tune in to find out!

The guys don't mess around this episode. No nerd news, no side topics, and ALMOST no tangents. This is a 100% Avengers Endgame episode. Thanos demands our silence, so we won't spoil anything in the description, you'll have to tune in to hear what we thought about possibly the greatest climax in nerd culture.
Sun, 28 Apr 2019 - 2h 46min - 118 - Captain Marvel Review
We've got an extra special episode for you this week, nerds! The guys got an early press screening of Captain Marvel and have dedicated almost an entire episode to talking about it! They laughed, they cried, they swooned! But... we're not going to tell you how they felt about it as a whole... SUCH A TEASE, I KNOW! You'll have to listen to find out! Also, during nerd news the guys discuss what happened at the 2019 Oscars, break down that god awful Dark Phoenix trailer, and ponder over the rumor that Rami Malek will be the villain in Bond 25! Sat, 23 Feb 2019 - 1h 12min - 116 - Glass Review
Pop! Pop! is back! We definitely didn't miss two weeks! And even if we did, it wasn't two months, so you're welcome!Rams v Patriots in the Super Bowl is big news! For some reason the Fast & the Furious movies are making spinoffs about the newest characteres in the franchise. James Gunn is probably ruining his career further by joining the DC universe while Matt Reeves is going to make a Batman movie that makes Christopher Nolan look like M. Night Shyamalan. SPEAKING OF M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN - Glass came out to mixed reviews and boy do we have mixed feelings about it! All of this AND MORE on this episode of Pop! Pop!
Sat, 02 Feb 2019 - 1h 49min - 115 - Bird Box & Bad Times at the El Royale
NFL playoffs! Go Rams! Go Eagles! (we're biased) As always, there's nerd news aplenty! Real life Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen stars in Netflix's Polar, another film about a hitman.. woo... Another podcast, another Captain Marvel segment! There's a new trailer, so there are new opinions! The Venom sequel gets greenlit, and we're stuck at a yellow light about it! All this news and more! The main course this time around revolves around two polar opposites - a Netflix pop culture phenomenon and a box office flop that's a cult success... Of course we're talking about Bird Box & Bad Times at the El Royale! Unfortunately we saw Bird Box, but surprisingly we didn't hate it as much as we thought we would! Sandra Bullock -1, Pop! Pop! - 0. On the flip side of this coin, Bad Times premiered in October of last year and we finally just saw it! We love writer/director Drew Goddard, and. We. Love. This. Movie. So. Damn. Much! Tune in to find out why!
Fri, 11 Jan 2019 - 1h 32min - 114 - Bandersnatch & Into the Spider-verse
The last podcast before the new year! Huzzah! 2018 was one short year for the Pop! Pop! crew, but the LA Nerd and Taylor are here for your end of the year listening pleasure. The guys dive into an end of the year trailer breakdown with some last minute movies sneaking their trailers in under the wire. Hellboy, MIB: International, and Us, all treat us to something fun, but which trailers do the boys like, and which trailers could the guys have lived without? 2018 was an enormous year for Spider-Man and his fans, and the biggest win for 'ole Webhead & Co. was the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse! Do we have to forget this film like Peter Parker's emo dance moves, or will we remember this as one of the most important Spider-Man films in history? Finally, Netflix has tried something daring with their new Black Mirror film, Bandersnatch. A choose your own adventure style movie to kick your nostalgia right in the ass! This one got mixed reviews from the boys, so hit the jump quick to find out their thoughts! All this and more on this week's episode of Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast!

That is all. Disney + is going to exist whether we like it or not, so why not talk about it?While the new Godzilla movie is coming out soon, what really matters is Godzilla vs. Kong... right!?The juicy attraction here is that sweet, sweet, Captain Marvel trailer, so we break it down! .... And I guess we talk about some DC news too... Gross.
Sat, 15 Dec 2018 - 1h 40min - 111 - Disney / Fox Merger (Also we‘re back, nothing happened, we‘ve been here the whole time)
The guys are back! But they've also been here the whole time, remember last week's episode about Comic-Con 2016? That was great. This time around we're talking about a monopoly -- I mean Disney! They've just purchased Twentieth Century Fox and that means The X-Men & The Fantastic Four are back home at Marvel and that the original Star Wars Trilogy distribution rights are under the same roof as the rest of the universe. Does this mean Cyclops and Wolverine are going to be in the MCU!? Does this mean that we're finally going to get an unaltered release of the OT!? Who knows!? We don't! But we talk about it a lot! Also we dish on the new Venom trailer, whether or not James Gunn deserves his job back, if MoviePass is going to survive... and much more! Tune in to see if we're back for good or if we'll be gone for another two years!
Thu, 02 Aug 2018 - 2h 18min - 110 - Comic-Con 2016!
The LA Nerd & some of the Pop! Pop! crew went to San Diego Comic-Con and after all the marathon-length walks and Hall H-ing, they finally found some time on Sunday to podcast! We know, we know, Joel said he'd be doing an episode every day of the con... But it turns out the mixing equipment was too cumbersome to bring along and we only had access to a recording device on Sunday. We figured a big-ass recap would make up for it!
Wed, 10 Aug 2016 - 1h 00min - 109 - Remembering Anton Yelchin
This week on episode 25 of Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast! The LA Nerd and Taylor talk about WB bringing TWENTY ONE shows to Comic-Con, yeah, we didn't know they had that many shows either... Also! The "Ultimate Edition" of Batman five Superman is supposed to "fix" the things that were wrong with the movie but we don't buy it, it's probably still going to suck. Nicholas Winding Refn wants to make a Batgirl movie, Daniel Radcliffe mightpossiblymaybe want to return as Harry Pothead, John Boyega is teaming back up with director Joe Cornish, and Sony wants to make Silver Sable movie (we heard you saying "who?" so we explain who she is!)After Nerd News the guys solemnly discuss the death of one of the greatest young actors of our generation: Anton Yelchin. From Charlie Bartlett to Star Trek, Alpha Dog to Like Crazy, Anton is one of those actors who's performance elevates any film that he's in. Shitty film to begin with or destined to be great from the start, Anton's roles were always a joy to watch and we'll miss him dearly

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 - 47min - 89 - Fantastic Four Review
In a very special mid-week episode of Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast! the LA Nerd and Taylor tear Fantastic 4 a new one... Like, they rip on it hard; they smear this movie's reputation harder than a high school cheerleader with a slam book. The opinions/reviews on this movie were so low it warranted a whole episode dedicated to dissecting its crappiness before next week's episode. But that's not all! What makes this episode even more special is that Pop! Pop! now has a theme song! Many thanks to Mister Mitchell for his musical talents and his time put into helping out. We finish up ... What If? and talk about the finale & what season 2 could look like as well as talk about an episode that never made it to air. Everyone watched Godzilla vs Kong, Joel and Taylor got to hang out in person for the first time in over a year and of course, we review The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episodes 3 & 4. Mon, 21 Dec 2020 - 2h 11min - 67 - WB to Release Entire 2021 Slate on HBO Max
The shortest "What We've Been Watching" of all time as we all watched the same movie so we could talk about it -- Mank. Somehow we talked about new Spider-Man news without making it the main topic OR making it a 3-hour discussion! Alfred Molina joins Jamie Foxx as the second non-MCU-Spidey villain to be in Spider-Man 3, as he's been added to the cast to reprise his role as Doc Ock. We're all mad about it. Finally, WB dropped a BOMB on Hollywood, announcing that they would release their ENTIRE 2021 slate on HBO Max on the same day as their theatrical release. It's a huge shakeup of the way films have always been released and we break down whether it's a temporary strategy for Covid-times or the way of the future.
