His company, Origin (and he as well) created the world's first officially titled MMORPG (Richard actually coined the phrase!) Ultima Online! We take a ride through Richard's history in the Game industry, do a bit of a deep dive on UO as well. We also talked about many of Richard's incredible adventures as an Explorer and Astronaut. They were definitely my favorite show in my podcast listening pile, and I really looked forward to the show each week. I also had the fun chance of being one of their regular voicemail callers! That's actually how I hooked up with the amazing regular caller Fred French, who calls into their (and our) show often. We not only carve out an appropriate chunk of the show to thank them (CapnMikeM, Glovebox, Hoody Ninja and DeviousMrMatt) for the years of friendship, technical help, shout outs, and really just being some of our favorite people on the internet. In our usual funny cuts in our show opener, I had to do my part to immortalize the "Stacking Paper" episode as I told the story (probably again) to Nick. WOW! Where to even start with this one :) Nick and I had the incredible luck and pleasure to interview Neal Hallford, one of Game Design's greatest of all time (well, damn well so in my eyes).  Neal has been in the designer's seat for some of the most classic, beloved games of all time. His most well known work is Dynamix's Betrayal at Krondor, a game set during the time of Raymond E. Feist's incredible Riftwar Saga. This is a must play piece of gaming history if you've never done so, and it's available on GOG.  Our first part of this incredible interview with Neal covers his time in Radio, the people who influenced him as a young writer, and how doing radio dramas with his buddies brings him to work as a writer and designer at New World Computing (Might and Magic, or Planet's Edge ring a bell?) In our first of soon-to-be-many special episodes, I take some time out from our usual podcast to sit down with some of the awesome minds that bring us the games we grew up playing or the games released today that have been inspired by them. This episode I shoot the breeze with Dave Welch, Lead Developer and Mastermind behind the Boot Hill Heroes series, a wild west RPG inspired by the likes of Earthbound and Chrono Trigger. The 'Rents bring in the new year! Kyle, Al and Travis talk about their christmas holiday, their individual game hauls (and that of the kidlets as well!) We review our SavePoint Short Play (Cyborg Justice on Genesis) and our Long Play (Robotrek on Super NES). We also review YOUR answers for our Retro Question of the Bi-Week: What is the first game that had a crafting/cooking system/element that you really enjoyed? What made it so enjoyable?

In our eigth episode, we have some fun with our Retro Question of the Bi-Week thanks to our great SavePoint members responses. We talk about the game releases that surprised us in a great way, and the ones that let us down in a bad way.
