true crime is a nonfiction literary, podcast, and film genre in which the author examines an actual crime and details the actions of real people. The crimes most commonly include murder; about 40 percent focus on tales of serial killers.
As much as we love listening to a celebrity interview or cultural discussion, there’s nothing quite like a true crime podcast to keep you hooked for hours on end.
There’s a reason why so many true crime series have climbed the podcast charts over the years – from the genre-defining brilliance of Serial to the unexpected twists and turns of Sweet Bobby, true crime is the genre that just keeps on giving.
True crime has never been more popular than it is today, as evidenced by the astonishing number of podcasts, TV shows, and documentaries dedicated to the genre. At its core, however, true crime is a type of nonfiction literature. From influential works like Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood (1966) to modern-day investigations such as Michelle McNamara’s I’ll Be Gone in the Dark (2018) or Elon Green’s Last Call (2021), such narratives are unique in the way they connect with their readers, precisely because they explore harrowing real-life events that could happen to anyone.
Want to know more about true crime? Here we define the genre, take a fascinating look at its origins, and cover some of its common themes.
The Definition of “True Crime”
It seems like the definition of true crime would be obvious: A story about a crime that actually occurred. Indeed, most true crime books explore dark and distressing subject matter, and reader discretion is advised. Granted, the first rule of true crime is that the narrative must include as many nitty-gritty facts about the case as possible: Readers expect the actual names of people involved and the correct time and place, information about what they did, and as many details of the crime and its investigation as the author can dig up.
True crime books can be about a single event, like a kidnapping. They can also be about the collective crimes of serial killers, thieves, or cult leaders. However narrow or broad the focus, the best true crime books deliver well-researched, finely written examinations of the case at hand.
But the wealth of details is just half of what makes true crime so popular with readers. The most talented true crime authors excel at presenting the facts of a case while vividly re-creating the atmosphere that surrounded the crime. They put criminals and their victims in context by establishing elements like the political climate of the day, the history of a town, or the struggles faced by a particular community. They dig into everyone’s motives, then weigh these motives against the actions and developments they document. They re-create dialogue as faithfully as possible, although of course sometimes it’s necessary to take artistic liberties.
In other words, the most popular true crime authors transport readers to the scene of the crime, with all senses fully engaged. Without an author’s narrative talents, the details of the crime would simply read like a legal report.

The Murder Of 12-year old Stephanie Ann Crowe True Crime Documentary
Stephanie Ann Crowe, 12, was severely slashed with a knife at her house in Escondido, California, in the early morning of January 21, 1998. She had nine stab wounds on her body. Police initially focused on her younger brother, Michael, who was just 14 years old at the time.
Stephanie Crowe was sleeping comfortably in her bed when an unknown attacker stabbed her nine times in the head and chest. Evidence indicates that she tried to flee her assailant, sustaining stab wounds on both the right and left sides of her body. Her grandma discovered the small girl later that morning. On the floor of her bedroom, she was dead, motionless, and cold. Stephanie had crawled to her bedroom door and collapsed. Her alarm clock was still blaring.
She'd died of a suffocating suffocation. Officers from the local police department were dispatched to the site. They were unable to locate any evidence of forced entry into the bedroom or the residence after doing a walkthrough of the property. The Crowes, on the other hand, frequently left the door to their laundry room open, allowing access to the outside. The coroner assessed her death time to be between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. during the autopsy. The Oceanside Police Department's interrogation methods in her case were dubious, and four people would wind up on trial for Stephanie's murder.

Bodycam footage shows a 20-year-old exotic dancer attempting to seduce an Ohio police officer after repeatedly throwing tantrums while being arrested in April. The Brunswick Police Department said Grace Spoonamore allegedly crashed into another vehicle while driving intoxicated and assaulted an officer by spitting on him during the traffic stop. Spoonamore initially denied drinking, then admitted to consuming “two doubles” of tequila before later upping the number to “three doubles.” Officers referred to her as "drunk" numerous times throughout the incident. Spoonamore called the arresting officer a “handsome man” and later asked him to tase her because she “likes it kinky.” She was charged with OVI, speeding, obstruction of official business, and assaulting a police officer.

Police Sergeant Doubled as Serial Rapist | Jeffrey Pelo FULL Police Interrogation
Jeff Pelo was a 17 year veteran of the Bloomington Police Department but he was more than that. He turned out to be a serial rapist, he broke into and terrorized 3 different women in Bloomington. He stalked them, checked their records, ran their plates to know where they were and finally to each of them broke into their house, bound them with duct tape, covered their heads with a pillow case and raped them. Afterwards he would make them bathe and clean up the house, including getting rid of the sheets. He knew how to cover his tracks because of all of his training as a police officer.
One night his third victim's dog was barking like crazy and because she had had a feeling she was being followed weeks before she didn't hesitate to call the police. Another officer arrived finding Jeff Pelo outside this woman's house. The officer was shocked and concerned at the sight of this brother in arms but did the proper thing and took him in. After being interrogated for a couple of hours and Jeff repeating his innocence they decided to do a voice matching. Jeff was told to read off of a script that included things that the attacker of the women had said but it wasn't the only thing the women recognized, it was his piercing blue eyes. One look at those and they knew.

FULL Police Interrogation of Former Police Chief For Murder
On October 2017, Hardin, then 50 years old, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, admitting that he had killed James Appleton. Appleton pulled into a parking lot on Gann Ridge Road in Gateway, Arkansas on February 23, 2017, to talk with his coworker and brother-in-law on his cell phone. A passerby saw the pickup and a blue Chevrolet Malibu parked behind it.
The driver of the Malibu waved him around, the passerby told police, and when he was a few hundred yards away, he heard a bang and saw the Malibu speed toward him, before turning onto the dirt road where Hardin lived. With his family. And his blue Malibu. His wife Linda thought he had been outside spreading grass seed, but the passerby knew Hardin all his life. He was sure it was him.
Hardin was sentenced to 30 years in prison and was required to provide a DNA sample to the state. It was a match. Hardin had never even been a suspect, but on February 7, 2019 Hardin pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, finally closing the 1997 case. Hardin received 25 years on each of the two counts, which are running concurrently with his murder sentence. All in all, Hardin will serve at least 21 years of the 30-year murder sentence, and then another 14, before he is first eligible for parole at age 84.
Hardin had worked for four police agencies. He was fired from one, allowed to resign from one rather than be fired and resigned from two, always claiming his separation was on higher ground. For example, he claimed to have left Fayetteville Police Department because other officers were stealing and his work environment became intolerably hostile after he reported their theft. He resigned after seven months from Huntsville, stating that he refused to treat people unfairly, as was expected of him. A couple of departments later, and he found himself filing for unemployment. And being denied.
Hardin returned to the private sector, but kept his toe in law enforcement, serving two one-year terms as volunteer constable in Benton County. In 2016 Hardin became chief of police in Gateway, resigning after four months to earn an associate's degree in criminal justice at Northwest Arkansas Community College.
Hardin was working in corrections when he was arrested for Appleton's murder.
Hardin is now #168541 at Arkansas DOC's North Central Unit, where — apart from the whole murder and rape thing — he has no major disciplinary violations, has completed an anger management course, and in October 2017 was determined to be minimum risk classification.
To this day no one knows why he killed Appleton.

The Murder Of Janet Abaroa AND David Crespi Murdered His Two Daughters - True Crime Documentary
Janet Abaroa, 26, was brutally killed inside her house on the evening of April 26th, 2005, while her six-month-old son slept soundly in the next room. The brutal murder of a young mother stunned Durham and devastated her family and friends.
Raven Abaroa, her worried husband, dialed 911 in a panic. Not long after her murder, he was the one who discovered her body. Raven and Janet were college sweethearts who married soon after graduation. On the surface, their relationship appeared to be great, but family and friends were concerned.
Raven was caught embezzling from his work, which was the most surprising recent information leading up to Janet's death. Raven's knife collection was mysteriously missing from the house on the night of Janet's murder, and he stood to gain $500,000 from his wife's life insurance policy.
Raven, on the other hand, had an alibi: he was at a soccer game in the evening. Janet was in bed watching TV when he departed, he said cops (her nightly routine). He had no idea that this minor detail would lead to a new finding in the case.
The case remained unsolved for five years. Raven moved on with his life and married Vanessa Pond in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his kid.
In 2013, Zwerling received the evidence package, which included dried contact lenses. The contact lenses rehydrated when he added a saline solution, demonstrating that they were in Janet's eyes at the time of her murder and after she was buried.
While Raven maintains that he did not murder Janet, the rest of the world, including his second wife, believes he did.

Karla Homolka, 17, and Paul Bernardo, 23, better known as the Ken and Barbie Killers, first met in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, in October 1987. Bernardo had already started his rape spree back in May. They were so drawn to each other that they had sex within hours of meeting.
Two days before Christmas a year later, the couple drugged and assaulted Homolka's younger sister, Tammy, in the basement of her family's house. Homolka gave Bernardo this as a Christmas gift because she couldn't give him her virginity since she had lost it before they met. Tammy died by coughing on her own vomit as a result of the medication, but her death was considered an accident.
Bernardo kidnapped and killed Leslie Mahaffy on June 15, 1991, and her dismembered body is discovered a few days later on June 29, 1991, the same day the killers marry. Kristen French, the third teenager, was kidnapped on April 16, 1992, and her nude body was discovered four days later on April 30th. She died as a result of strangulation.
Bernardo was not charged with being the Scarborough rapist until February of 1993. More evidence linking the two of them to the murders was discovered, and Homolka agreed to a plea deal, and both of them are charged with the murders of the three girls. In June of 1993, Homolka was found guilty and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Homolka testified against Bernardo in court after the couple divorced in 1994. Bernardo was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison in 1995.
Homolka is now out of prison and has three children. She and her second husband are currently residing in Quebec, after spending many years in the Caribbean following Homolka's release. Bernardo, meanwhile, has filed for parole in Toronto, Canada. At the same time, it was revealed that he was planning to marry a Toronto woman whom he had charmed through letters written in his cell. It's unclear if the wedding arrangements are still on.

The jury concluded that Jones has been found guilty on all five counts of murder in the deaths of his children.
The second phase of the proceedings is the sentencing phase and that will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday. Because the state is seeking the death penalty, the jury is now responsible for determining his punishment.
The jury had four options for their verdict: guilty, guilty but mentally ill, not guilty by reason of insanity, or not guilty. Jones pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
A grand jury indicted Jones, Jr. in 2014 on five counts of murder in the deaths of his children – Mera, 8; Elias, 7; Nahtahn, 6; Gabriel, 2; and Abigail, 1. For Mera, Elias, Gabriel, and Abigail, the indictments state the children were killed “by means of strangulation and/or other violent means or instruments.”
The bodies of the children were found in garbage bags off of a dirt road in Alabama. Jones, Jr. led authorities to the bodies after being arrested in Mississippi. Jones, who appeared to be under the influence at the time of his arrest, was questioned at the checkpoint by a Smith County, Miss. deputy about an odor of chemicals coming from his vehicle. After further investigation, the deputy found what appeared to be chemicals used to make meth and a street drug known as “Spice.” Investigators also said his Cadillac Escalade was blood-soaked and “smelled of death.”

Robert Willy Pickton "The Pig Farm Killer" Serial Killer
The Pig Farmer — He Killed 49 Women and Fed Them to Pigs Only to get caught trying to make his tally an “even 50”
Robert William Pickton, aka “Willy” waKiller s a quiet Canadian man who grew up in a family of pig farmers. His family had been in the business of pig farming for three generations but by the time Pickton and his siblings inherited the pig farm, they’d only raise a few pigs on the farm and sell them to friends and neighbors. They, in fact, sold parts of the inherited land for large sums of money, not having much intention of continuing the family business. However, it wasn’t pig farming that made Willy rather infamous in Canada and the rest of the world. He is known to have murdered as many as 49 women, having been arrested due to his admitted “sloppiness” in trying to make his tally an “even 50” or the “big five-O.”A Contradicting Tale of Quiet Nature and Rave PartiesWilly was described by most of his friends as a pretty “quiet and simple guy” who didn’t really have any visible devious habits that would draw much attention. He wasn’t known to be much of a drinker, or didn’t really do any substance abuse, nor was he ever known to be too violent. After neglecting the original pig farming business inherited from their parents, Willy and his siblings registered a non-profit charity by the name of “The Piggy Palace Good Times Society” with the Canadian government in 1996. They claimed to “organize, co-ordinate, manage and operate special events, functions, dances, shows, and exhibitions on behalf of service organizations, sports organizations, and other worthy groups”. What these not-for-profit events eventually ended up being were a series of rave parties where members of music bands and other partygoers would come and engage in substance abuse and also engage with many sex workers. The events were quite large and attracted as many as 2,000 people. After some complaints about the nature of activities held under the name of the charity, and some ruckus created at a New Year’s Eve party in 1998, police intervened and banned any future parties at the pig farm, and also stripped the non-profit status of the society in the following year for lack of sufficient financial statements. The Murders & The DiscoveryIn March 1997, Willy was first charged for the attempted murder of a sex worker called Wendy, who had been stabbed several times following an argument at the farm.Wendy had managed to grab the weapon off Willy, stabbed him back, and escaped despite being handcuffed by him. Pickton received treatment at a nearby hotel and was also later released on bail. The charges were dismissed in January of 1998.It was later that year that the injunction was brought to the farm and the charity to host any events and parties. One of the workers at the farm, Bill Hiscox, noted that many of the women that visited the farm eventually went missing and reported his suspicions to the local police. In February of 2002, when the police visited the farm with a search warrant, they found multiple items belonging to the missing women. Willy and his brother David Pickton were arrested on charges of owning illegal weapons. While they were later released, police maintained surveillance on the brothers. On further investigation, police suspected Willy of a series of murders of the various missing women, and over the course of the year, Willy was charged for a total of fifteen first-degree murders.Over the next three years, by October of 2005, the tally of the first-degree murder charges had gone up to a staggering twenty-seven.Excavations at the farm continued for over a whole year, and cost about $70mn — making it one of the most expensive investigations in Canada’s history. The excavations revealed cut skulls, broken jaws, and other bodily remains of multiple women including the DNA of as many as 33 different women.

Jeff was tried and found guilty of 35 counts of rape and stalking. He received one of the top sentences in Bloomington history of 440 years. He is now where he belongs.

To Catch A Predator Jeffrey Sokol FULL Police Interrogation
44-year-old Jeff Sokol groomed what he thought was a thirteen-year-old girl named Bailey online. He had many creepy and sexual conversations with her, including asking her if she trims her pubic hair, telling her that he will want to be intimate with her when they meet, and talks of drawing up a “marriage contract“ in order for it to be legal to have sex with her. On October 3rd, 2015, he drove for two-and-a-half hours from his home in Boston to Fairfield, where he had planned to stay with the girl while her mother was away on business.[1][2][3]
Bust
He picked up a pizza, and once at the house, he tried to hug Nellie, but was rejected. The two chat for a while, discussing the pizza, their looks, and the marriage contract briefly. Jeff also takes a pill which he claimed was for his stomach before he ate. A door can be heard creaking in the hidden room, which startles Sokol. When Nellie leaves to investigate, Chris Hansen enters. At first Sokol believed Hansen was the girl's father. During the interview he is arrogant, cold, dismissive and egotistical. He casually (and loudly) eats the pizza during his interview with Hansen, even laughing off many of Hansen's questions.
He went on to offer Chris a slice of pizza during the interview, which Hansen politely declined. During the course of the interview, Chris questioned him about a marriage contract which he believed would absolve him of legal issues. During his police interrogation, he admits to no wrongdoing and blames society on why he was arrested. The detective interviewing Sokol combats nearly every point the latter tried to use to defend himself.
Sokol ultimately was sentenced to seven years and had to serve 30 months. He also had to register as a sex offender for ten years and be on probation for the remainder of his sentence.
Jeff Sokol was very unpopular with lawyers, as he went through three different attorneys. Sokol was sentenced to 30 months, pleading guilty to his crimes of attempted 2nd degree sexual assault, attempted risk of injury to a minor, and enticing a minor by computer.
Sokol's lawyer pointed out that the pill Sokol took while in the sting house was not a sexual enhancement pill, but a Cholestyramine pill, used for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). According to the lawyer, Sokol had suffered from IBS since high school, and that this made him put on a "mask". Sokolʻs lawyer stressed that Sokol is indeed a "nice guy" who has a job and is nice to his parents (who accompanied Sokol during court hearings). Sokol's lawyer also stated that the content from HvP, broadcast on National TV, YouTube etc., was not really how Sokol normally "behaves", and that Sokol was humiliated, not only from what was uploaded, but also from comments made about him.
Sokol had undergone a psychiatric exam in which electrical sensors were somehow attached to his genitals, and he was then shown pictures of children. Sokol's lawyer stated he "passed with flying colors." It was also said Sokol has learning disabilities, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and minor psychiatric issues, but does not have any major psychiatric issues, e.g. schizophrenia. It is also noted he was a drinker and smokes pot.
Sokol's lawyer had weak arguments for the judge, at one time saying, "...but a hundred years ago, your honor, the age of consent in the United States was nine...then it was raised to twelve and then to thirteen and then eventually to what it is today." He also said, "So what he is being sent to jail for today, was something that a hundred years ago was not a crime."
Unimpressed, the judge remained still-faced.
When it was Sokol's turn to speak to the judge, he tried to convince the judge that he was a nice person. He...Tue, 26 Sep 2023 - 877 - Officer's uniform cut off during arrest for domestic violence

Footage from the Rio Rancho Police Department in New Mexico. It shows the arrest of Albuquerque Police Officer Jeffrey Wharton prior to his shift beginning. He was taken into custody by detectives of the Rio Rancho Police Department.
The on duty arrest was due to a warrant for his arrest from the Rio Rancho PD. According to the criminal complaint, Wharton beat his girlfriend so badly, she had several gashes on her head and face. Police say her injuries were so severe, she had to be taken to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a brain bleed. Some of the domestic incident was captured on the couples "RING" doorbell system.
When Officer Wharton arrived for his shift at an area substation Rio Rancho Police officers were waiting for him armed with a felony warrant. At one point you'll see they removed his duty belt and searched him. After the search they are seen on lapel video cutting off his fully marked uniform shirt. Wharton was lead out of the substation to a waiting cruiser.
He was booked into the Sandoval County Detention Center on charges of Kidnapping (First Degree) (NO Intent to Commit Sex Offense), Aggravated Battery (great bodily harm) (household member), Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Strangulation or Suffocation), Aggravated Battery (great bodily harm) (household member), Tampering with Evidence (Highest Crime a Capital, First or Second Degree and Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Unsafe Handling). Wharton resigned from APD shortly after this arrest. APD says Wharton had been with the department since November 2010. He was a senior officer with the department. His trial is pending.

Serial Killer Michael Gargiulo (Hollywood Ripper) Documentary
Michael Thomas Gargiulo (born February 15, 1976)[1] is a convicted American serial killer[3] and rapist. He moved to Southern California in the 1990s and gained the nickname The Hollywood Ripper. He was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to death on July 16, 2021
Description of crimes
Gargiulo is a native of Glenview, Illinois, where he may have stabbed his neighbor, 18-year-old Tricia Pacaccio, to death on her backdoor step. Her body was found by her father the next morning on August 14, 1993.[5][6] Gargiulo moved to Los Angeles in 1998, allegedly to escape the scrutiny of police in Illinois,[7] and committed two murders and an attempted murder in Southern California between 2001 and 2008.
On February 21, 2001, he stabbed 22-year-old Ashley Ellerin 47 times to death in her home in Hollywood. Ellerin's injuries included a neck wound that nearly severed her head, and deep punctures to the chest, stomach, and back. Some of her wounds were up to six inches deep.[8] According to detective Tom Small, one stab wound "actually penetrated the skull and took out a chunk of skull like a puzzle piece."[8] On the night she was murdered, Ellerin had planned a date including dinner and drinks with actor Ashton Kutcher.[9]
On December 1, 2005, Gargiulo stabbed 32-year-old Maria Bruno, his neighbor, to death at her home in El Monte, California.[10] She was stabbed 17 times.[8]
Gargiulo attempted to murder another neighbor, 26-year-old Michelle Murphy, in her home in Santa Monica on April 28, 2008.[11] She fought off the attack, and blood matching Gargiulo's DNA was found at the scene.[12]
Arrest and prosecution
Gargiulo was arrested by the Santa Monica Police Department on June 6, 2008. On July 7, 2011, the Cook County State's Attorney charged Gargiulo with the first-degree murder of Tricia Pacaccio.[13] Although Gargiulo was charged in the two California murders as well as the Pacaccio murder in Illinois, police did not link him to any other murders.[5] Gargiulo allegedly told authorities in the Los Angeles County Jail that just because 10 women were killed — and his DNA was present — does not mean he murdered anyone, leading investigators to believe that there are more victims.[5]
Media in Los Angeles dubbed Gargiulo the "Hollywood Ripper" as well as the "Chiller Killer."[13][14] Gargiulo was held at Los Angeles County Jail while awaiting a capital murder trial.[15] A pre-trial hearing was held on June 9, 2017, in Los Angeles Superior Court with his trial scheduled to begin in October 2017.[16] After delays, his trial began on May 2, 2019.[9][17] In May 2019, actor Ashton Kutcher testified about the crimes

The 27-year-old then exited his truck and approached the passenger side of the stopped vehicle. Authorities said Bryan argued with officers before being handcuffed and placed in the back of the trooper’s squad car. “This is why people do not like police officers,” the country singer said to the trooper while he was detained. “F***ing cops are out of hand.” The trooper arrested Bryan on a complaint of obstruction of an officer and took him to the Craig County Jail.

True crime is a nonfiction literary, podcast, and film genre in which the author examines an actual crime and details the actions of real people.
The crimes most commonly include murder; about 40 percent focus on tales of serial killers.[1][2] True crime comes in many forms, such as books, films, podcasts, and television shows. Many works in this genre recount high-profile, sensational crimes such as the JonBenét Ramsey killing, the O. J. Simpson murder case, and the Pamela Smart murder, while others are devoted to more obscure slayings.
True crime works can impact the crimes they cover and the audience who consumes it.[3] The genre is often criticized for being insensitive to the victims and their families and is described by some as trash culture.
Podcasts with a true crime theme are a recent trend. The 2014 true crime podcast Serial broke podcasting records when it achieved 5 million downloads on iTunes quicker than any previous podcast.[24][25][26] As of September 2018, it has been downloaded more than 340 million times.[27] It has been followed by other true crime podcasts such as Dirty John, My Favorite Murder, Up and Vanished, Parcast series such as Cults, Female Criminals and Mind's Eye, Someone Knows Something, and many more.[28]
Podcasts have now expanded to more sites such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and many more. They exist to provide others an easy way to learn about true crime murders and mysteries. Spotify has an expanding number of true crime podcasts with Rotten Mango, Conviction American Panic, Bed of Lies, Catch & Kill among many more. This genre has been on the rise as psychologist, Amanda Vicary, said her report found “women were most drawn to true crime stories that gave them tips for spotting danger and staying alive”.[29]
It's been speculated that fear could play a role in the popularity of true crime podcasts. These podcasts often recount horrific crimes, which triggers the fear response and the release of adrenaline in the body. Due to the possibility of bingeing podcasts, adrenaline rushes can be experienced in quick bursts.[30] Another explanation for the popularity of true crime podcasts is due to the serialized nature of crime, in which events happen one after another. Podcasts that explore a crime episodically can utilize this aspect in their storytelling

Kelly Cochran | Killed and Dismembered her Husband and Ex-Lover | Police Interrogation
This is the grisly story of Kelly Cochran.
Born and raised in Merrillville, Indiana, Kelly and Jason Cochran were high school sweethearts and grew up next door to each other. They were so enamored with each other that they were married after Kelly Cochran graduated from high school in 2002 — and made a lifelong promise to kill anyone who they might cheat with.
Jason Cochran worked hard servicing swimming pools until his back gave out after 10 years of physical labor. While his wife tried hard to pay the bills, the debts kept piling up. The couple bailed on the situation for Caspian, Michigan, in 2013, also looking forward to legal marijuana, which would help ease Jason’s chronic pain.
Kelly Cochran met Christopher Regan at a factory job manufacturing Naval ship parts. An Air Force veteran and Detroit native, he and Cochran bonded and became lovers despite their 20-year age difference. Through his relationship with Cochran, Regan was also cheating on his girlfriend, Terri O’Donnell. They finally agreed to patch things up — the day that he died.
On Oct. 14, 2014, Regan planned to spend the night with Cochran — unaware she had spent the previous night arguing with her husband about him. Knowing it meant her lover’s death, Cochran invited him over and had sex with him as her husband shot him in the head. Neighbors heard a shot — then power tools.
O’Donnell reported Regan missing 10 days later, but the Cochrans had already dumped his remains in the woods. While they parked his car on the outskirts of town, they failed to notice a post-it note with directions to their house inside. Police were more observant and found the car, the note inside — and their suspects.
Police paid Kelly and Jason Cochran a visit, finding the former entirely at ease and the latter uncomfortable. They later questioned them separately. Kelly admitted to having an affair with Regan, but claimed she and her husband had an open marriage. Jason, meanwhile, appeared rather aggravated at her infidelity.
While the Cochrans had managed to remove all evidence of their crimes and the case went cold, an FBI search of their home in March 2015 prompted the terrified couple to leave town for Hobart, Indiana. It was there, on Feb. 20, 2016, that suspicions got the better of the couple — and Cochran murdered her husband
Kelly Cochran Gets Caught
When EMTs arrived at the Mississippi Street residence, they found Jason Cochran unresponsive, and Kelly was reportedly disruptive as they attempted to revive him. The EMTs declared Cochran’s husband dead of an overdose — unaware that she had deliberately overloaded his heroin fix, then smothered him for good measure.
Cochran held a memorial service days later, claiming it was “the hardest thing I will ever have to deal with” online while pawning off her belongings. She fled Indiana on April 26 without notifying relatives, and when the Hobart Medical Examiner realized Jason died of asphyxiation, she became a fugitive.
Her messages claimed she was hiding out on the West Coast in an attempt to throw police off-course. However, they simply tracked her phone to Kentucky. Finally, Cochran pointed cops to Regan’s remains and the murder weapon.
Kelly Cochran’s trial revealed that “she contemplated killing Jason instead of Chris.” She felt that he had killed “the only good thing I had in my life,” adding, “I still hate him, and yes, it was revenge. I evened the score.” While serving a life sentence for Regan’s death, she earned another 65 years in April 2018 for killing her husband.
Police said she only told her spouse about Regan when he declined a serious relationship, as the diabolical pact would ensure his death.
Ultimately, the full extent of Kelly Cochran’s crimes only began to reveal...Sun, 17 Sep 2023 - 866 - RACIST, ANGRY, VIOLENT Police Interrogation of Wife Killer Clifford Burns
RACIST, ANGRY, VIOLENT Police Interrogation of Wife Killer Clifford Burns
WARNING: AUDIO CONTAINS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC, AS WELL AS RACIST, LANGUAGE AND DESCRIPTIONS. SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND THIS MATERIAL DISTURBING AND UNSUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.
Warren County Sheriff's deputies question Clifford Burns on the night he is alleged to have fatally stabbed his wife, Patricia Burns.
As Patricia Burns heaved her ham out of the freezer, she was looking forward to a quiet Christmas.
It was December 22, 2013, and Patricia, 42, was spending the festive season at home with her daughters, Megan, 22, Harley, 16, and Autumn, 14.
The family had been through so much.
Patricia’s marriage to Clifford Burns, who was dad to Harley and Autumn, had been rocky.
The couple met when Patricia was working at a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through.
Clifford had pulled up and decided there was something he fancied more than a doughnut.
So he asked Patricia for her number.
At first he’d seemed like a great catch – he had his own business, was a keen fisherman, and doted on Megan, her little sister Christalin and brother, Nick.
But after their ’97 wedding, Clifford became violent.
His traumatic past was often cited as the reason behind his abuse – he’d witnessed his father’s violence towards his mother.
So Patricia gave him the benefit of the doubt, taking him back time and time again.
Together they had their two girls, Harley and Autumn.
She moved into a new apartment with the kids and began working as a nurse at a hospice, and also got a five-year restraining order against Clifford.
Patricia began another relationship. But this new man also had a temper and was slapped with a restraining order after assaulting her, firing a gun into the ceiling and then having a standoff with police.
Now, all Patricia wanted was a peaceful Christmas.
Autumn texted her dad to wish him Merry Christmas, even though he’d not been in touch for eight months.
His reply, which came as Patricia was defrosting the ham, was chilling.
I have a special gift coming soon, something for everyone to talk about, and it will be hand-delivered on foot, not by car, it read.
Autumn interpreted the message as a threat. Harley and Megan agreed, so they showed the text to their mum.
'Is he going to come here and kill us?'
‘Is he going to come here and kill us?’ Megan asked.
But Patricia wasn’t concerned.
‘No Megan, he’s mean, he’s evil, but he’s not that evil,’ she said.
Despite her mum’s lack of concern, Autumn tapped back a reply.
Get it together, I know what you think you want to do, and believe me that won’t end well, she wrote in the message. The only reason you feel so bad is because of what happened between your parents.
Christmas Eve
Two days later, on Christmas Eve, Harley went to do some last-minute shopping.
Patricia, Megan and Autumn remained at home, preparing Christmas dinner in the kitchen.
This time, Patricia was preparing a turkey.
Then there was a knock at the door.
On the other side of it was a masked man in army fatigues. He was carrying a large hunting knife.
The man grabbed Patricia and held her against the wall. Then he plunged the knife into her stomach.
'Megan ran over, grabbing the man and pulling his mask off.'
Megan ran over, grabbing the man and pulling his mask off. It was Clifford.
‘Call the cops!’ Megan screamed to Autumn, who was frozen in terror.
Clifford continued to stab their mum, before turning the knife on Megan, slashing her arm.
Patricia, bleeding profusely, pleaded with her ex to stop.
As Autumn called an ambulance, Megan ran out of the...Sun, 17 Sep 2023 - 865 - Glen McCurley 1974 Cold-Case Murder of 17-Year Old Carla Walker Full Police Interrogation
Glen McCurley 1974 Cold-Case Murder of 17-Year Old Carla Walker Full Police Interrogation
MCurley was a person of interest in the 1974 slaying but detectives said there wasn't enough evidence to tie him to the case 46 years ago.
Texas company used a new forensic process to create a full DNA profile of the suspect from evidence pulled off the victim's clothing -- only partial profiles were obtained before.
A Tarrant County Grand Jury has indicted a 77-year-old man in connection with a cold case that went unsolved for nearly half a century.
Glen Samuel McCurley was indicted on a charge of capital murder for his role in the death of Carla Jan Walker, a 17-year-old Western Hills High School junior who was kidnapped and murdered in 1974.
According to police, Walker was abducted, held captive, and sexually assaulted before being murdered and left in a ditch after a Valentine's Day dance.
Investigators alleged that McCurley snatched Walker from the passenger seat of her boyfriend's car in a bowling alley parking lot.
Walker's boyfriend, Rodney McCoy, told police that a man pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him before something hit him in the head, knocking him unconscious.
McCoy told police he later woke up to find Walker was gone and blood coming from his head.
Walker's body was found three days later in a culvert near Benbrook Lake. Police said she had been beaten, raped, strangled, and tortured alive for two days after her disappearance.
DNA evidence recovered from clothing and a bra worn by Walker on the night she was killed was sent to Othram, a private lab in The Woodlands.
The DNA profile created at Othram was used to narrow the search to three brothers with the last name McCurley.
According to police, Glen Samuel McCurley had been identified as a person of interest during the initial investigation in 1974 because he owned a gun, a .22 Ruger, that matched a magazine found at the crime scene.
Detectives spoke to McCurley during the initial investigation, but they did not pursue McCurley again following the 1974 interview until the DNA profile match was found in GEDMATCH.
Police collected trash from a bin in front of McCurley's residence in July of 2020, and they were able to determine that the items matched the male DNA profile found on Walker's clothing.
On Sept. 10, 2020, police said they returned to McCurley's home and spoke to both him and his wife, during which time McCurley told the same story that he told detectives in 1974. He said he didn't kill anyone and did not know Carla Walker.
McCurley agreed to provide a DNA sample, and six days later, police said they were notified the swabs matched the DNA found on Walker's bra.
A warrant for capital murder was then obtained and McCurley was taken into custody without incident. Jail records showed McCurley was being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a charge of capital murder with bond set at $100,000.
During a news conference, detectives with the Fort Worth Police Department said they believe the assault and murder were random and that Walker and McCurley didn't know each other.
Police said it appears that over the last four decades, McCurley led a relatively normal life, was married, and had two children. Police also said that McCurley is not a suspect in any other crimes.

Ronald Gene Simmons "CHRISTMAS FAMILY INCEST MASSACRE" murders
On December 22, 1987, Ronald Gene Simmons began a killing spree that would be the worst mass murder in Arkansas history and the worst crime involving one family in the history of the country. His rampage ended on December 28, 1987, leaving dead fourteen members of his immediate family and two former coworkers.
Ronald Gene Simmons was born on July 15, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Loretta and William Simmons. On January 31, 1943, William Simmons died of a stroke. Within a year, Simmons’s mother married again, this time to William D. Griffen, a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The corps moved Griffen to Little Rock (Pulaski County) in 1946, the first of several transfers that would take the family across central Arkansas over the next decade. On September 15, 1957, Simmons dropped out of school and joined the U.S. Navy. His first station was Bremerton Naval Base in Washington, where he met Bersabe Rebecca “Becky” Ulibarri, whom he married in New Mexico on July 9, 1960.
Over the next eighteen years, the couple had seven children. In 1963, Simmons left the navy and approximately two years later, he joined the air force. During his twenty-two-year military career, Simmons was awarded a Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Cross for his service as an airman, and the Air Force Ribbon for excellent marksmanship. Simmons retired on November 30, 1979, at the rank of master sergeant.
On April 3, 1981, Simmons was being investigated by the Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Department of Human Services for allegations that he had fathered a child with his seventeen-year-old daughter, Sheila. Fearing arrest, Simmons fled first to Ward (Lonoke County) in late 1981 and then to Dover (Pope County) in the summer of 1983. The family took up residence on a thirteen-acre tract of land that would become known as “Mockingbird Hill.” The residence was constructed of two older-model mobile homes joined to form one large home and was surrounded by a makeshift privacy fence, as high as ten feet tall in some places. The home did not have a telephone or indoor plumbing.
Simmons worked a string of low-paying jobs in the nearby town of Russellville (Pope County). He quit a position as an accounts receivable clerk at Woodline Motor Freight after numerous reports of inappropriate sexual advances. He went to work at a Sinclair Mini Mart for approximately a year and a half before quitting on December 18, 1987.
Evidence indicates that Simmons bludgeoned and shot his wife on December 22, 1987. Simmons also bludgeoned and shot his visiting son, twenty-nine-year-old Ronald Gene Simmons Jr. He then strangled his three-year-old granddaughter. All three bodies were later found in a shallow pit Simmons had instructed the children to dig months before for a third family outhouse.
Later the same day, the Dover school bus dropped off the younger Simmons children for their Christmas break from school. Based on crime scene investigation, it is believed the Simmons children (ages seventeen, fourteen, eleven, and eight) were separated and killed individually, by strangulation and/or drowning in a rain barrel. Their bodies, too, were found in the hole for the outhouse.
The older Simmons children had been invited to the Simmons home on December 26, 1987, for an after-Christmas dinner. Twenty-three-year-old William H. Simmons II, his twenty-one-year-old wife, Renata May Simmons, and their twenty-month-old son, all of Fordyce (Dallas County), were likely the first to arrive. William and Renata were shot, and their bodies were left by the dining room table, and covered with their own coats and some bedding. The child was killed and placed into the trunk of a car behind the Simmons home.
Next to arrive were Simmons’s twenty-four-year-old daughter, Sheila, and her husband, thirty-three-year-old Dennis Raymond...Fri, 15 Sep 2023 - 863 - Robert Willy Pickton "The Pig Farm Killer" Serial Killer
Robert Willy Pickton "The Pig Farm Killer" Serial Killer
The Pig Farmer — He Killed 49 Women and Fed Them to Pigs
Only to get caught trying to make his tally an “even 50”
Robert William Pickton, aka “Willy” waKiller s a quiet Canadian man who grew up in a family of pig farmers.
He is known to have murdered as many as 49 women, having been arrested due to his admitted “sloppiness” in trying to make his tally an “even 50” or the “big five-O.”
A Contradicting Tale of Quiet Nature and Rave Parties
Willy was described by most of his friends as a pretty “quiet and simple guy” who didn’t really have any visible devious habits that would draw much attention.
The Murders & The Discovery
In March 1997, Willy was first charged for the attempted murder of a sex worker called Wendy, who had been stabbed several times following an argument at the farm.
Wendy had managed to grab the weapon off Willy, stabbed him back, and escaped despite being handcuffed by him. Pickton received treatment at a nearby hotel and was also later released on bail. The charges were dismissed in January of 1998.
It was later that year that the injunction was brought to the farm and the charity to host any events and parties.
On further investigation, police suspected Willy of a series of murders of the various missing women, and over the course of the year, Willy was charged for a total of fifteen first-degree murders.
Over the next three years, by October of 2005, the tally of the first-degree murder charges had gone up to a staggering twenty-seven.
Excavations at the farm continued for over a whole year, and cost about $70mn — making it one of the most expensive investigations in Canada’s history.
The excavations revealed cut skulls, broken jaws, and other bodily remains of multiple women...Fri, 15 Sep 2023 - 862 - Julie Schenecker | Murdered Her Own Children | Police Interrogation
Julie Schenecker | Murdered Her Own Children | Police Interrogation
The Schenecker double homicide occurred on January 27, 2011; 16-year-old Calyx and 13-year-old Beau Schenecker were found dead by police at their home in Tampa, Florida. Their mother, Julie Powers Schenecker, was arrested on suspicion of their murder after an alleged confession.
On January 29, Schenecker was admitted to Tampa General Hospital, but was released the next day. She was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and indicted by grand jury on February 9. Seven days later, she entered a plea of not guilty, with her legal team indicating they would pursue a defense on the grounds of insanity. Parker Schenecker divorced his wife in May 2011, and subsequently filed a civil lawsuit for wrongful deaths, following dispute over distribution of the family's assets.
Julie Schenecker's criminal trial began on April 28, 2014. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to two concurrent life terms in prison on May 15, 2014.
On January 28, 2011, police visited the property after receiving a call from Schenecker's mother, who expressed concern at not being able to reach her daughter. Officers found Beau Schenecker in a sport utility vehicle in the garage and Calyx Schenecker in her bedroom; both had been shot with a .38 revolver and covered with blankets. Julie Schenecker was found unconscious on the rear porch covered in blood.
Police stated that Schenecker admitted to killing her children because they "talked back and were mouthy". A police statement said, "She described the crimes in detail." A note was allegedly found in the house describing a plan to murder her children and commit suicide. According to the arrest affidavit, Beau was shot twice in the head on January 27 while being driven by his mother from soccer practice. Schenecker then drove home and killed Calyx in her room as she was doing her homework on her computer. The revolver had been purchased five days before the killings. Calyx was found on her bed covered by a blanket.

Texas Teen Tells 911 It Was 'Weird' to Kill His Mother and Sister
Jake Evans is accused of capital murder for shooting and killing his family.
Oct. 6, 2012 — -- In a chilling 911 call, Texas teen Jake Evans spent 20 minutes calmly recounting how he shot and killed his mother and sister, calling himself "evil."
"It's weird," an even-voiced Evans told the 911 dispatcher. "I wasn't even really angry with them. It just kind of happened. I've been kind of planning on killing for a while now."
Evans, 17, of Parker County, Texas, was arrested after he called police early Thursday morning to report he had killed his mother Jami Evans, 48, and his 15-year-old sister Mallory Evans.
"I just thought it would be quick, you know? I didn't want them to feel any pain," he said. "That's why I used a gun, but it was like everything went wrong."
He has been charged with capital murder, according to court documents, and is being held without bond.
Evans did not give a specific reason for the killings, but said that he didn't "really like people's attitudes" and said people were "verbally rude to each other."
"I guess this is really selfish to say, but to me, I felt like they were just suffocating me in a way," he said calmly. "I don't know.Obviously, you know, I'm pretty, I guess, evil."
He told the operator that he told his sister that his mother needed to see her. When his sister came out of her room, Evan said he shot her. She rolled down the stairs and he shot her again, he said.
"I'll never forget this. My sister, she came down the stairs and she was screaming and I was telling her that I'm sorry but to just hold still--that, you know, I was just going to make it go away," he said. "But she just kept on freaking out, but finaly she she fell down, and I got her in the head about, probably, three times."
He said he then shot his mom three or four times with a .22 revolver. The gun belonged to a family member, according to ABC News' Dallas-Forth Worth affilate WFAA.
"Just to let you know, I hate the feeling of killing someone. I'm going to be messed up," he told the operator. "I'm really worried about nightmares and stuff like that. Are there any type of medications for that and stuff?"
"I don't mean to sound like a wimp or anything, but this is, wow, I've never, like, done anything violent in my whole life," he added.
When police arrived at the home, Evans was standing outside with his hands in the air and was arrested without incident, according to police. Authorities believe Evans' father was out of town on a business trip when the shootings occurred.
Jami Evans was a teacher and an assistant principal at schools in the Aledo Independent School District from 1989 to 2004.
"Aledo ISD is deeply saddened to learn of the death of a former employee and a former student," the school district said in a statement. "Her dedication to her students and her love of learning was an inspiration to all who knew her."
"We also mourn the death of Mallory Evans, a former elementary and intermediate school student," the statement said. "She was a sweet child that will be missed by her friends and school family."
Friends were shocked to hear about what Jake Evans had done. They described him as a nice and shy student who was an avid golfer. He played golf for Aledo High School where he was a student until he and his sister withdrew in January to be home schooled.
"I just want people to know this action is not how we all know him," Cole Wooten, who said he had been in school with Evans since kindergarten, told WFAA.
"I really liked him," classmate Clint McClellen said. "Nicest kid. Quiet, shy, kept to himself, but I liked that about him."

Sherri Rasmussen (February 7, 1957 – February 24, 1986) was an American woman found dead in February 1986 in an apartment she shared with her husband, John Ruetten, in Van Nuys, California. Rasmussen had been beaten and shot three times in a struggle. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) initially considered the case a botched burglary, and the crime remained unsolved.
Rasmussen's father believed that Stephanie Lazarus, an LAPD officer, was a prime suspect. Detectives who re-examined the cold case files in 2009 were eventually led to Lazarus, by then herself a detective. A DNA sample she unknowingly discarded was matched to one from a bite on Rasmussen's body that had remained in the files. Lazarus was convicted of the murder in 2012 and is serving a sentence of 27 years to life for first-degree murder at the California Institution for Women in Corona.
Lazarus appealed the conviction, claiming that the age of the case and the evidence denied her due process. She also alleged that the search warrant was improperly granted, her statements in an interview prior to her arrest were compelled, and that evidence supporting the original case theory should have been admitted at trial. In 2015, the guilty verdict was upheld by the California Court of Appeal.[5]
Some of the police files suggest that evidence that could have implicated Lazarus earlier in the investigation was later removed, perhaps by others in the LAPD. Rasmussen's parents unsuccessfully sued the department over this and other aspects of the investigation. Jennifer Francis, the criminalist who found key evidence from the bite mark, unsuccessfully sued the City of Los Angeles, claiming she was pressured by police to favor certain suspects in this and other high-profile cases and was retaliated against when she brought this to the LAPD's attention.

To Catch a Predator Dustin McPhetridge FULL Police interview
"I thought you was wantin' to be shaved...down there."
-Dustin showing that Barber-ism begins at home.
Dustin Jacob McPhetridge appeared on the Bowling Green, Kentucky investigation of To Catch a Predator. He is most known for his disability, as well as his outrageous demands while in prison.
Dustin McPhetridge was 26 when he arrived at the sting house with the hope of meeting a thirteen year old girl named "Laura" that he thought he was chatting with online. He had a twisted and sordid chat with the girl wanting to shave her privates, get her drunk and have rough anal sex with her. Dustin, the consummate gentleman, gave Laura a choice on where to put his sperm first (mouth, pussy, or ass). He also wanted her to wear a pair of panties for 2-3 days straight and then send them to him. He even sent a picture of a couple having sex. The icing on the cake was when he said that he wanted to have a threesome with her EIGHT year old sister. [1]
After a four hour drive, Dustin waddled into the house with an electric razor and KY Jelly and tried to coax the decoy over to do all the twisted things he had on his mind. He instead got to meet Chris Hansen. Dustin went right into victim mode blaming the girl for the situation, saying she led him on.
After his arrest, Dustin pulls every pity string he can ranging from his disability to his weight to getting bullied with Sgt. Dudinskie, the officer in charge of his interview. Dudinskie fires back with details of his chatlog that showed Dustin to be a very disgusting predator that hid behind his disability. [2]
He was sentenced to five years in prison for traveling across state lines to meet a minor for sex. He was also sentenced to eight years for possession of child pornography. The sentences ran concurrently but because Dustin wasn’t convicted on the CP charge until two years after his first conviction, he actually ended up with a ten year sentence.[3] Dustin was released on lifetime federal sex-offender probation and now helps to run a convenience store in Surgoinsville, Tennessee.
Behind the scenes
Dustin has cerebral palsy. He demonstrated before, during, and after the sting his devious behavior of using his disability to garner sympathy as well as escape trouble. Casey and the lead KBI investigator even said they felt sorry for Dustin when he saw him struggle to enter the house, but kept in mind his reason for showing up at the house was to molest a child.
Partway through serving his sentence, he wrote a letter to his convicting judge saying he had learned his lesson and requesting that he immediately be released from serving the remainder of his sentence. If his request was denied, in lieu of release, he requested a walk-in jacuzzi in his cell. Both requests were denied.
Dustin was scheduled to be back in court February 2020 due to probation violations, mainly failing his sex offender treatment program, subsequently being kicked out, and polygraph tests asking if he had viewed child pornography since his release. A series of continuances have been given due to Dustin's health, COVID-19 concerns, and scheduling conflicts.[4] Dustin was given yet another continuance September 2021 because his family had paid vacation plans. Recent photos show that Dustin uses a wheelchair. During examination of his counselor, he revealed that Dustin has spent the most time of any offender in the program because he either refuses to own the actions that led him to this point, or makes excuses on why he can't make any positive changes in his life. Dustin also gained the ire from his peers in his classes because they believed his rehabilitation to be a waste of time. Time that could be better invested in their recovery.[5]

911 dispatcher lectures drowning woman moments before she died FULL AUDIO
Police released disturbing audio of an Arkansas woman who called for help in the final moments of her life, drowning in her car, only to be met with mockery and disdain by the dispatcher.
Debbie Stevens, 47, was on her regular paper route in Fort Smith Saturday, Aug. 24 when a flash flood swept up her car. Panicking, she dialed 911.
"Please help me, I don't want to die!", Stevens begs on the call that lasted 22 minutes. "I can't swim! I'm scared! I'm going to drown!"
The dispatcher, Donna Reneau, who was working her final shift after giving her notice two weeks earlier according to the Fort Smith Police Department, replied flippantly telling her authorities will get there when they get there and that she's not going to die, at one point telling her to "shut up."
As the water slowly filled Stevens' SUV, she responded: "I'm scared. I've never had anything happen to me like this before."
Stevens pleaded for help and prayer but received a lecture: "Well this will teach you, next time don't drive in the water," Reneau responds. "I don't see how you didn't see it, you had to go right over it, so."
Authorities responded to the scene 12 minutes after she dialed 911, but because of the floodwaters, it took more than an hour to reach Stevens' vehicle -- and by the time police and firefighters were able to secure the car, Stevens had drowned.
Fort Smith Interim Police Chief Danny Baker described Reneau's response as "calloused and uncaring at times" in a statement, but he added to KHBS that she did nothing "criminally wrong" nor "violated policy."
"I completely understand the disgust and the concern that we all have," Baker said. "We all hope that we would get a little better response."

Son 'boiled mom's head in pot' after 'killing parents who cut off his allowance'
WARNING GRAPHIC DETAILS Joel Guy Jr is accused of murdering dad Joel Snr and mum Lisa and trying to dissolve their bodies in the "house of horrors" in Tennessee after they told him they'd stop supporting him financially
A son brutally murdered his parents before dismembering them and boiling his mum's head on a stove, a court heard.
Shocked investigators were confronted with a "diabolical stew of human remains" at the home of Joel Guy Snr and his wife Lisa.
Joel Guy Jr allegedly use acid to try and dissolve his mum and dad's remains after stabbing them to death in the House of Horrors.
Stunned investigators discovered Lisa's head boiling in a pot, and Joel Snr's severed hands on his bedroom floor.
Both their torsos were found wrapped in plastic in their bathroom in Knox County in Tennessee.
Prosecutors claim Guy murdered his parents the day after they refused to stop paying his bills at a Thanksgiving dinner in November 2016.
He tried to use chemicals to destroy Joel Snr, 61, and 55-year-old Lisa's remains, it is alleged.
The court heard the killer was told by his mum and dad that they were going to stop supporting him financially.

Man Kills His Mom has SEX with Her Body - Guess I Lost My Virginity to a Corpse: The Kevin Davis Murder Case
Davis bashed his mother's head in with a hammer
Summary: Corpus Christi resident Kevin Davis strangled his mother before hitting her in the head with a hammer, splitting her skull. Davis then ‘swirled’ her brain around before sexually assaulting her corpse. Davis was sentenced to life in prison for the crime of a mom who he described as “The best.”
In 2014, Kevin Jazrael Davis argued with his mother, 50-year-old Kimberly Hill, in the Corpus Christi, TX, apartment he shared with her and his sister, Destinee. On May 26, Davis called 911, reporting that he’d just murdered his mother. Once at the police station, then 18-year-old Davis vividly detailed the day’s events, sometimes with a smirk on his face. What he told detectives was gruesome and shocking: Kevin admitted bashing \Hill’s head with a hammer, swirling her brain around, and then, sexually assaulting her corpse.
"I'll Kill My Mom Instead"
On the morning of March 27, 2014, Davis, bored and frustrated with life, told his mother he did not like people and that he wanted to commit suicide. Obviously caught off guard by the statement, Hill allegedly told her son that she could not stop him if that was what he wanted to do. Kevin later told police hearing this from his mother enraged him. It was then he decided to take her life.
As Hill sat on the couch in the living room, Davis came up behind her, attempting to strangle her with a cord. Hill began screaming. Kevin panicked, retrieved a hammer, and began bashing in his mother’s skull. Davis struck his mother in the head with the hammer at least 20 times, splitting her skull in the process.
Davis then retrieved a kitchen knife and used it to insert inside his mother’s head wound. He swirled her brain around “to make sure she was dead,” Kevin claimed and then inserted his hand inside the wound. He would tell detectives during a taped interrogation that his mother’s brain felt like “putty.”
Kevin then dragged his mother’s lifeless body to her bedroom and raped her corpse. When he finished the sadistic act, he went to a neighbor’s house, saying he just killed someone and needed help. The neighbor dialed 911.
This is the interrogation of Kevin Davis.

Tim Jones confesses to killing his five children in interview audio played during trial
In an audio recording of a police interview played during the trial of Tim Jones contains his confession of killing his five children.
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - After more than three weeks of testimony, a jury has reached a verdict in the trial of Timothy Jones, Jr., a Lexington County man accused of murdering his five children in 2014.

Former Oklahoma City Police Officer Daniel Holtzclaw Interrogation AUDIO (complete)
Daniel Ken Holtzclaw (born December 10, 1986) is an American former Oklahoma City Police Department patrol officer who was convicted in December 2015 of multiple counts of rape, sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy, and other sexual charges.[4] Holtzclaw was convicted of eighteen counts involving eight different women. According to the police investigators, Holtzclaw abused his position as an officer by running background checks to find information that could be used to coerce victims into sex.[1] During the trial, the defense questioned the victims' credibility during cross-examination, bringing up their criminal records.[5] Of the thirteen women who accused Holtzclaw, several had criminal histories such as drug arrests, and all of them were African American.[6] The prosecution argued that victims were deliberately chosen by Holtzclaw for these reasons.[7] Holtzclaw pleaded not guilty to all charges. On December 10, 2015, he was convicted on 18 of 36 charges, and on January 21, 2016, he was sentenced to 263 years in prison.[8][9][10] Jason Flom (a founding Board Member of the Innocence Project), right-wing commentator Michelle Malkin and others have supported Holtzclaw's claims of innocence. On August 1, 2019, Holtzclaw was denied an appeal by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, which upheld both his convictions and prison sentence. The defense petitioned the Supreme Court of the United States on the basis that merging seventeen cases together "strains credulity". On March 9, 2020, the Supreme Court refused the petition.

The Slender Man (also spelled Slenderman) is a fictional supernatural character that originated as a creepypasta Internet meme created by Something Awful forum user Eric Knudsen (also known as "Victor Surge") in 2009. He is depicted as a thin, unnaturally tall humanoid with a featureless head and face, wearing a black suit.
Stories of the Slender Man commonly feature him stalking, abducting or traumatizing people, particularly children. The Slender Man is not confined to a single narrative but appears in many disparate works of fiction, typically composed online.
On May 31, 2014, two 12-year-old girls in Waukesha, Wisconsin held down and stabbed a 12-year-old classmate 19 times. When questioned later by authorities, they reportedly claimed that they wished to commit a murder as a first step to becoming proxies for the Slender Man, having read about it online. They also stated that they were afraid that Slender Man would kill their families if they did not commit the murder. After the perpetrators left the scene, the victim crawled out of the woods to a roadway. A passing cyclist alerted authorities, and the victim survived the attack. Both attackers have been diagnosed with mental illnesses but have also been charged as adults and are each facing up to 65 years in prison. One of the girls reportedly said Slender Man watches her, can read minds, and could teleport.
Experts testified in court that she also said she conversed with Lord Voldemort and one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Milwaukee teen Anissa Weier was sentenced to 25 years in a mental health facility in 2017, for the 2014 stabbing of a classmate. Weier's accomplice in the crime was a friend called Morgan Geyser, who was also a 12-year-old like Weier when they planned and stabbed classmate Payton Leutner in the nearby woods, later telling authorities that the attempted murder was supposed to keep the legend-horror character Slender Man from killing their families.
Where is Morgan Geyser now?
At 19, Geyser is still at the unnamed mental hospital where she was sentenced 40 years after she pled guilty to the attempted first-degree murder of Leutner. Geyser had reportedly pled guilty to the crime to avoid prison, but she was ultimately found not guilty on grounds of insanity. Geyser was later diagnosed with schizophrenia, and following her 2017 conviction, her attorneys have argued that she should have been tried in juvenile court as she was 12 at the time of the stabbing.
On September 11, 2020, her defense team appealed to the Supreme Court, to toss out Geryser's conviction in adult court. This came after Wisconsin’s 2nd District Court of Appeals had denied Geyser's appeal to have her conviction overruled, twice by then. Geyser's attorney Matthew Pinix had claimed at the time that his client should have been charged with attempted second-degree intentional homicide, which would have sent the case to juvenile court.
Who is Morgan Geyser?
On May 31, 2014, three pre-teens — Geyser, Weier, and Leutner, woke up from a sleepover to celebrate Geyser's 12th birthday. The girls then went to a local Waukesha park, where Geyser and Weier stabbed Leutner 19 times and left her for dead. The 12-year-old victim however managed to crawl her way out of the woods and was spotted by the side of the road by a passing bicyclist. Leutner survived, but it's been reported that two of the stab words were millimeters from her arteries. Shortly after she was found, cops found Geyser and Weier walking along the roads, claiming they were on their way to live with Slender Man.
Geyser and Weier were arrested immediately and charged as adults the next day. The girls had confessed to the crime too, claiming they were terrified of Slender Man killing their families if they didn't murder Leutner. I go to Bradley," the clearly intoxicated woman said referencing the private university she was set to graduate from in the coming weeks. “You’re pathetic,” an officer said to Melgoza in the hospital when she continued to joke around after learning the two victims died. Melgoza pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated DUI death and two counts of aggravated reckless driving before getting sentenced to 14 years in prison on Thursday.

Military Officer Serial Killer Russell Williams -Police Interrogation and Confession SHOCKING
Bob McKeown deconstructs the interrogation and shocking confession of Russell Williams. From his initial denial to the full declaration of guilt, the fifth estate deciphers one of the most compelling and distressing confessions in Canadian criminal history with the help of people who know the art of interrogation better than anyone else.
Investigation and arrest
Jessica Lloyd, 27, had vanished on January 28, 2010. Investigators identified distinctive tire tracks left in snow near her home. One week after her disappearance, the Ontario Provincial Police conducted an extensive canvassing of all motorists using the highway near her home from 7 pm on February 4, 2010, to 6 am on the following day, looking for the unusual tire treads. Williams was driving his Pathfinder that day — rather than the BMW he usually drove — and an officer noticed the resemblance of his tire treads. These were subsequently matched to the treads near Lloyd's home.
On February 7, 2010, the CFB Trenton base commander was at his newly built home in Ottawa, where his wife lived full-time and he lived part-time, when he was called by the OPP in Ottawa and asked to come in for questioning. During the 10-hour interview he confessed to the numerous crimes of which he was later convicted. Early the next morning Williams led investigators to the woman's body in a secluded area on Cary Road, about 13 minutes away from where he lived. Williams was also charged in the death of Corporal Marie-France Comeau, a 37-year-old military flight attendant based at CFB Trenton, who had been found dead inside her home in late November 2009.
Along with the murder charges, Williams was charged with breaking and entering, forcible confinement, and the sexual assault of two other women in connection with two separate home invasions near Tweed, Ontario in September 2009. According to reports, the women had been bound in their homes and the attacker had taken photos of them.
Williams was arraigned and remanded into custody on Monday, February 8, 2010. The Canadian Forces announced that day that an interim commander would soon be appointed to replace him (Dave Cochrane took over 11 days later), and removed his biography from the Department of National Defence website the following day.
Hours after the announcement of Williams' arrest, police services across the country reopened unsolved homicide cases involving young women in areas where Williams, a career military man, had previously been stationed. According to news reports, police began looking at other unsolved cases based on a full statement that Williams gave to police.
A week after his arrest, investigators reported that, along with hidden keepsakes and other evidence they had found in his home, they had matched a print from one of the homicide scenes to his boot.
In addition to the four primary incidents, the investigation into Williams includes probes into 48 cases of theft of women's underwear dating back to 2006. In the searches of his Ottawa home, police discovered stolen lingerie that was neatly stored, catalogued, and concealed.
In April 2010, Williams was placed on suicide watch after he tried to kill himself by wedging a stuffed cardboard toilet paper roll down his throat.
Confession
On February 7, 2010, Williams was interrogated at Ottawa Police Service headquarters by Detective Sergeant Jim Smyth, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police's Behavioural Sciences Unit. The interview started at 3 p.m. and by 7:45 p.m. he was describing his crimes. The interrogation lasted approximately ten hours. Excerpts of the confession were shown in court at Williams' sentencing hearing on October 20, 2010.
In the confession, Williams gave details of his crimes, including the sexual assaults in...Sat, 02 Sep 2023 - 834 - 11 UNFORGETTABLE 911 CALLS MADE BY KIDS & ADULTS

Child Predator Brings Pizza to Teen’s House, meets To Catch A Predator Chris Hansen instead
He...Sat, 02 Sep 2023 - 831 - Investigators question Chris Watts' alleged mistress about relationship and murders

Police in Louisiana Say Gambling Habit Motivated Suspect
By Christopher Cooper - The New York Times
November 17, 1997
LaPLACE, La.— At the Airline Motors lunch counter in sugar-cane country, a rifle-shot away from the muddy churn of the Mississippi River, the talk about Daniel J. Blank is as straightforward as the food served here: he was a gifted mechanic, a quiet customer with deep blue eyes, a family man who drank his coffee black.
But last week Mr. Blank was jailed, arrested on three charges of first-degree murder. The local authorities said he had confessed to six murders, including a double bludgeoning of an elderly couple just across the street from the diner.
His arrest, a big event in a town that often goes a year without a killing, stirred the memory of a waitress, Gloria Vicknair. Only a few months ago, Mr. Blank, the son of a sugar-refinery worker, emerged from the video poker stall in the back of the restaurant and asked her to change two crisp $100 bills, a lot of money for a man who usually ordered only black coffee.
Ms. Vicknair said she made the change but thought nothing of it. ''They say it's always the quiet ones that'll surprise you -- he was extra quiet,'' she said after the arrest was announced. ''Of course, I was lucky. He went after wealthy people. I work for a living, thank God.''
A quest for the big win and lust for a piece of the American dream, the police said, was what drove Mr. Blank to kill six elderly residents within 20 miles of his family's home in the River Parishes, a water-bound stretch of chemical plants and sugar cane between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Most of the dead were elderly; most were found in their homes with their pockets turned inside out. Nearly all had at least a nodding acquaintance with Mr. Blank. One couple survived being beaten and shot, Leonce Millet Jr. and his wife, Joyce, both 66, of Gonzales.
The authorities said Mr. Blank had killed to feed a gambling habit. He favored slot machines and video poker, acquaintances said, and visited many different gambling parlors.
Toward the end of his suspected string of killings, Sheriff Wayne Jones of St. John the Baptist Parish said, it became apparent that Mr. Blank was either on an extraordinarily lucky streak or was up to no good. The authorities estimate that he had stolen as much as $200,000, much of which he was believed to have squandered at the casinos.
''He was without question a gambling addict,'' Sheriff Jones said. ''I guess you could say his income didn't quite correspond with his life style.''
He has confessed to these murders, the authorities said, which occurred between October 1996 and June 1997: Victor Rossi, 41, of St. Amant; Barbara Bourgeois, 58, of Paulina; Lillian Philippe, 71, of Gonzales; Sam Arcuri, 76, and his wife, Louella, 69, of LaPlace, and Joan Brock, 55, of LaPlace. Mr. Blank is to be arraigned in LaPlace on Monday.
The police have given little information about the case, saying only that a tip had led to the arrest. But their relief is obvious.
''It was the first homicide we had experienced since 1986,'' Chief Bill Landry of Gonzales said. ''We weren't prepared. We had to retrain ourselves.'' His office handled three of the cases -- one murder in April and a double murder attempt in July.
Acquaintances and family members said that since the killings began late last year, Mr. Blank had lived at a notch or two above transient status, making three moves in the River Parishes and then moving in the summer to a small resort town in eastern Texas. Mr. Blank was taken into custody in Onalaska, Tex., on Friday, about four months after he reportedly tried to buy a four-bay automobile repair shop there for...Thu, 31 Aug 2023 - 826 - What Was It Like Meeting A Serial Killer Before They Were Caught?

Royce Teets Police Interrogation Murdered Fiancé Point-Blank Range with AK-47
Teets was arrested on July 11, 2016 on a premeditated murder charge in the shooting death of his fiancee, Terri Lynn Coolidge.
Teets shot her at point blank range with an AK-47 after the two had an argument about his infidelity.
According to a police report, Teets claimed his fiancée was an alcoholic who had gotten mad at him earlier in the day for texting to and speaking with other women.
Police said Teets left to go drinking with friends and returned home to an irate Coolidge. He claimed that Coolidge broke a mirror in their bedroom and told him, "I'm going to kill you."
"She was extremely drunk," Teets said in the interrogation video.
According to the report, Teets went to the bedroom closet where he keeps two AK-47s and grabbed one of them before Coolidge could take it. Teets said he removed the magazine from the gun and believed that it was empty. He said the argument moved from the bedroom to the living room, where Coolidge was shot.
Police said Teets, who is a convicted felon, gave three different versions of how his fiancée ended up dead.
"Who got the gun out of the closet?" a detective who was questioning Teets asked.
"When she was running to get it, I ran back there and got it first," Teets said.
Teets said the first thing he did after finding the gun was to remove the magazine and throw it on the bed. However, when police found the gun, they found a live round in the chamber.
Teets shows a range of emotion in the video, at one point slamming his hand on the table and at another time getting on his knees to pray.
"Why did you have to die?" Teets said.
Teets eventually confessed to the shooting, admitting that he lied to police.
"How many times have you lied to me today?" the detective asked Teets.
"I was scared," Teets answered.
"How many times have you lied to me today?" the detective said. "Just tell me. 10? 20?"
"A few," Teets said.
Teets is charged with first-degree murder.

Doctor Death: Britain's Worst Serial Killer (True Crime Documentary)
Britain’s biggest serial killer was a doctor, Dr Harold Shipman. Unsuspected for many years, Dr. Shipman selected his victims from his patient list. There were clues, but who in the community would believe that a doctor would kill his patients? Suspected of killing over 350 people during his career, it was clumsy attempts at forging the will of one of his victims in his own favour that alerted the police and led to his arrest. Found guilty at his trial and jailed for life, Dr Shipman committed suicide never accepting his guilt.

Moments After Executing His 3 Sons
An Ohio man is facing murder charges after allegedly lining up his three young sons — ages 7, 4 and 3 — and shooting them execution-style, authorities said. One of the boys tried to flee but Chad Doerman allegedly told police he “hunted him down” and shot him, authorities said.
Deputies attempted CPR but the children died at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said. The children’s mother, 34, who has not been publicly identified, was allegedly shot in the hand while trying to protect her boys from the gunshots, prosecutors said on Friday at Doerman’s arraignment. She was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies met with her in the hospital to tell her that her sons had been killed.
Doerman was arrested without incident and taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. He has since been charged with three counts of aggravated murder and is being held on $20 million bond.

In the confession, Williams gave details of his crimes, including the sexual assaults in...Sat, 26 Aug 2023 - 811 - The Bever Family Massacre: 911 Call and Police Interrogation.
The Bever Family Massacre: 911 Call and Police Interrogation.
Teen Brothers Wanted To Become Famous Killers — And They Started By Butchering Their Family
Robert and Michael Bever thought they would kill their family quickly, like ninjas, before embarking on a cross-country murder spree.
For the teenaged Bever brothers, the goal was notoriety. They wanted to have articles written about them. They wanted to be feared. They wanted to kill 500 people, believing the act would make them like gods.
Unfortunately for the family of Robert, 18, and Michael, 16, the brothers kicked off their plan at home. On the night of July 22, 2015, they broke out knives they had been stashing, and set about trying to kill each of the seven other members of their household in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
They planned to cut their family down like ninjas, with swift and silent killing blows — all while awaiting a shipment of ammunition, according to authorities on “Killer Siblings” on Oxygen. A bloody, messy reality set in quickly, however, when the boys went after their first victim, 13-year-old Crystal.
As one of the Bever boys would later tell police, “It wasn’t like it was on the TV — you cut them once and they die.”
After Michael lured his sister into a bedroom under the pretense of showing her something on a computer, Robert grabbed her from behind and slashed her throat. Crystal fought back, and he plunged his knife into her abdomen and arms.
The boys’ mother, April, 44, heard the commotion and came upstairs. She was met by Robert, who unleashed a frenzy of at least 48 knife strikes that resulted in “more wounds than I’ve ever seen in any body, ever,” according to one investigator. All the while, somehow, Crystal crawled away to try to protect her younger siblings.
The brothers then moved on, room by room.
Father David Bever, 52, was stabbed 28 times, and suffered blunt force injuries all over his body, Tulsa World reported. Michael later told police that Robert stabbed their dad with “the biggest knife he had,” according to “Killer Siblings.”
Their 7-year-old brother, Christopher, was stabbed six times. When they overtook their younger sister Victoria, 18, they stabbed her 18 times in both sides of her neck, chest, back and upper arm.
Daniel, 12, managed to lock himself in a room, where he called 911. Michael managed to convinced his younger brother to open the door by feigning that he was also being attacked by Robert. The brothers came in and stabbed the boy nine times in the back, shoulder and chest.
Robert then returned his attention to Crystal, who was bleeding from her neck, arm and abdominal wounds, and tried to finish her off by suffocation. The older brother also planned to cut off his 2-year-old sister, Autumn’s, head, according to local outlet Oklahoma News on 6. At that moment, however, police began banging on the front door.
Detective Brett Burton of the Broken Arrow Police Department told producers that when he responded to the call, he could see blood on the sidewalk and the front step, and he heard a faint “help me” coming from inside. It was Crystal.
The 13-year-old clung to life, telling police that her brothers had attacked her family. Autumn remained sleeping upstairs, unharmed, throughout the whole ordeal.
The brothers escaped out the back of the home, but they were quickly tracked down by a police K-9 in a wooded area. In police photos featured on “Killer Siblings,” Robert and Michael Bever are covered in mud and blood; their clothes are torn and even appear to have bits of flesh on them.
“They weren’t upset. They weren’t distraught,” Burton said. “It’s almost like they had a sense of cockiness.”
“It looked to me like [one of the boys] had a smirk on his face,” Corporal Leon Calhoun told local ABC affiliate KTUL.Sat, 26 Aug 2023 - 810 - 911 Caller During A Terrifying House Invasion
911 Caller During A Terrifying House Invasion
Michelle Hall was home alone and recovering from a car accident when a man broke into her house and sexually assaulted her. Hall dragged herself to the kitchen to call 911 when she heard pounding at her basement door, telling the operator that she had a broken heel and was confined to the couch. Because of her injury, Hall was unable to escape when the man appeared in her kitchen and punched her in the face.
The recording becomes downright chilling when her pleas and screams are muffled by his hand. Hall remembered him threatening her life before five officers were finally able to subdue the intruder.
