Tue, 07 May 2024 - 17930 - Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)
Hour 1
Jerry is in for Boomer today and he and Gio started with the Knicks win last night. Gio said it was impressive because they didn’t seem to have it last night. They got a few lucky calls and they have Jalen Brunson, who put up another 43 points last night. Gio said the Knicks looked stunned at times by the Pacers offense. Josh Hart once again played 48 minutes. C-Lo is here for his first update and starts with the sounds of last night’s Knicks win. C-Lo then went around the NBA last night. The Mets beat the Cardinals and we talked about the arch in St. Louis. The Yankees play the Astros at the stadium tonight. In the final segment of the hour, Gio thinks the Knicks got away with one last night. Jerry said the Knicks weren’t at their best, but they made things happen and they won. Jerry thinks the Pacers can blow them out one game in Indiana. Ben Simmons was at the MET Gala last night.
Hour 2
Reggie Miller will be back at MSG tomorrow night for TNT. We talked about what we expect from the remaining Knicks/Pacers series. Julius Randle was a big part of the culture change, so it must suck for him to not be a part of this. Gio didn’t think recreating the Villanova team would work, but it has. We talked about the Knicks potentially trading Randle but Jerry doesn’t think that’s happening. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of last night’s Knicks win over the Pacers. We heard from Jimmy Butler who doesn’t seem to like the Knicks or Tom Thibodeau. He did have a drink in his hand so maybe he was a little tipsy. The Mets beat the Cardinals and Brett Baty got his feet tangled with the third base ump. In the final segment of the hour, Gio met weather person Janice Huff on the streets of NYC. We talked about other local news people we liked growing up.
Hour 3
Last night was another great Knicks game that came down to the final minutes again. The Knicks got a call or two and Jalen Brunson scored over 40 again. There was a scoring snafu in the Knicks game for a very short time yesterday. A caller wonders if a team ever won a game because of a mistake with the scoring. C-Lo returns for an update, but first Gio said C-Lo sneezed right in his face. Gio said you can hold in a sneeze and C-Lo said you can’t always. C-Lo starts with all the sounds from last night’s Knicks win. Reggie Miller talked about coming back to the Garden tomorrow. He said he would be hurt if he didn't hear, ‘Reggie sucks’. Gio said Reggie should be in the ‘best ugly athletes’ category. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer is taking a red eye tonight and will just show up around 8am tomorrow morning. We also announced Kickoff To Summer at D’Jais in Belmar, NJ.
Hour 4
We expect both the Knicks and Rangers to move on from their series. We took calls from Knicks fans and talked more about the scoring snafu on the scoreboard. Jerry wonders if the NBA knows they have 2 different products. The regular season that ‘sucks’, and the playoffs. A caller, who doesn’t root for the Knicks, said they are so likable that he’s finding himself rooting for them now. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with all the sound from last night’s Knicks win. Gio tells a story about Dov eating tuna fish in the control room and them fighting about it back in 2008. Jalen Brunson stopped the conversation when someone was comparing him to Michael Jordan. The Mets beat the Cardinals in St. Louis thanks to Brandon Nimmo’s HR. Through a spokesperson, Gisele felt deeply disappointed by the portrayal of her family. The Moment of The Day involves the A’s and players you’ve not heard of. In the final segment of the show, Gio talked about going to the Ear Inn in NYC for lunch on Friday.

Fri, 03 May 2024 - 17902 - Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)
Hour 1
It’s a feel good Friday with the Knicks moving on after finishing off the Sixers in Philadelphia. Next up, the Indiana Pacers. Boomer said it’s going to be a completely different situation. The Pacers are run and gun and don’t have a guy like Joel Embiid. The Knicks should have a huge advantage in rebounds and defense. Gio was right yesterday when he was confident that Josh Hart would have a big game. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the Josh Hart 3 with 25 seconds to go. Hart talked about that 3 point shot. Jaylen Brunson talked about the heart of the team. Patrick Beverly had an odd exchange with a reporter on if she subscribes to his podcast or not. He was being douchey. Gio called it ‘unsavory behavior’ by him. The Mets beat the Cubs as Francisco Lindor had a walk-off double. The Mets said Lindor had ‘flu-like symptoms’, but Gio thinks he just had to poop. Are the Steelers really considering Justin Fields as a return man? In the final segment of the hour, everything Evan Roberts wanted for the Nets is now happening for the Knicks.
Hour 2
Gio thinks the rotation is going to look different in the next series for the Knicks as they face the Pacers. The Knicks are going to have to defend the 3-point line. We were at the same point here last year against the Heat. Boomer thinks this series is going seven games. The line is 5 ½ games. The Knicks have 3 days to completely recharge. Jerry returns for an update, but first Boomer took his staff for a walk on the Highline. Jerry has all the sound from last night’s Knicks win in Philadelphia. Shaq predicted the Sixers would blow out the Knicks. Charles Barkley declared the game over at the half, in favor of the Sixers. He then called Brunson one of the great free agent signings of all time. The Mets beat the Cubs and Starling Marte threw out 2 dudes at the plate. A caller went to White Eagle Hall at 7am thinking that’s when the show started. It starts at 7pm, tonight. In the final segment of the hour, it’s looking like Sunday night for the start of the Rangers/Hurricanes series.
Hour 3
The start times for Knicks/Pacers are more reasonable, with the latest game starting at 8pm. Patrick Beverly was being douchey to a reporter after the game because she doesn’t subscribe to his podcast. He also threw a basketball at a fan. A caller is impressed at how understated Gio’s celebration of Josh Hart’s 3 was, calling it ‘Barry Sanders like’. Boomer said of the Knicks, ‘winning is the deodorant of champions’. Jerry returns for an update but first Gio was checking out The Zoo Yorker, Big Zoo’s podcast. Jerry has audio of Sal Licata going off on a caller. Gio said Sal is the opposite of what a monk would be. Jalen Brunson was a guest on TNT after the game. Thibs called it a terrific team win. Jonathan Papelbon went off on Stephen A. Smith’s take on the Mike Trout injury news. In the final segment of the hour, Gio is going to SNL tomorrow to see Dua Lipa host and perform.

We talked about movie theater candy for a moment. Jerry thinks the Knicks could sweep this series. The sportsbooks think Knicks in five. Thu, 02 May 2024 - 17888 - Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)
Hour 1
The Sixers organization is doing ‘loser things’ according to Gio. They bought up over 2,000 tickets for tonight’s game to hand out to fans as they don’t want Knicks fans taking over the building. Gio is still very confident in the Knicks tonight. He expects huge things from Jalen Brunson and said it will be a ‘Josh Hart game’. The NBA admitted they missed a travel call on Tyrese Maxey during his 4-point play. Gio wonders why the NBA does this. Boomer is feeling this is going to a game 7. Evan & Tiki are headed down to Philly to go to the game. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Chris Russo having a hard time saying ‘hubalu’. Stephon Marbury was on Instagram talking up the Knicks. Jerry went around the NBA playoffs. Charles Barkley said the Lakers and Suns suck because of the players, not the coaches. The Mets game ended with a controversial out at home plate call. Alonso was out, but the catcher did block the plate. Carlos Mendoza was pissed. The Yankees beat the Orioles thanks to a HR by Oswaldo Cabrera. In the final segment of the hour, we should get news on the start date for Rangers/Hurricanes as soon as the Knicks series ends.
Hour 2
Tonight the Knicks are in Philly and Gio is feeling this is going to be a big game for Josh Hart. He was ‘atrocious’ in games 4 and 5, but Gio thinks he gets his groove back tonight. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio of Evan & Tiki going to the game tonight in Philadelphia. We spent a lot of time talking about where they are sitting and how they are getting to and from. In the final segment of the hour, word is that Pete Hoffman broke up a fight at Citi Field last night. A caller said the last train out of Philly back to NY is just after midnight.
Hour 3
Shaun Morash called in to talk about the Evan and Tiki Show going to the Knicks game tonight in Philadelphia. Jerry returns for an update and has audio from Gio being pumped to have the Vikings beat the Giants. He was wrong. He seems equally confident the Knicks are going to win tonight, so take that with a grain of salt as they say. Jerry went around the NBA playoffs last night. The Mets game ended on a controversial call at the plate last night. Pete Alonso was thrown out but there seemed to be catcher interference. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talked about players spending everything they earn. Sharpe also talked about having to pay quarterly taxes. Jason Kelce said his wife said he has a ‘chicken ass’. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer wonders if both teams will score over 100 tonight. Booms is thinking maybe a defensive battle. We looked at some of the player props for Knicks/Sixers. Mon, 29 Apr 2024 - 17845 - Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)
Hour 1
We’re used to Feel Good Fridays around here but today is a Feel Good Monday with the Rangers advancing, the Knicks taking a 3-1 series lead and the Mets and Yankees both winning on Sunday. Jalen Brunson and Boomer’s guy Precious Achiuwa were big factors in the Knicks win. Tom Thibodeau has pushed all the right buttons in this series and proven all the doubters wrong. Gio says Joel Embiid is like a boxer who knows he is about to get knocked out so he starts to fight dirty. Embiid’s reputation has taken a tremendous hit in this series. Boomer is happy and giddy today. Boomer says Jalen Brunson’s game 4 was a top 5 Knicks playoff performance of all-time. Boomer expects a big change for the Rangers if they play the Hurricanes in the second round. CLo is in for Jerry today and is here for his first update. The Knicks took a 3-1 lead in Philly with plenty of Knicks fans in the building and the style of play reminded Boomer and Gio of the 90s. Boomer says Brunson also reminds him of Walt “Clyde” Frazier. The Knicks finally have “the guy” in Jalen Brunson and nobody saw that coming. Gio says Joel Embiid is a losing player and Boomer says he is closer to a whiner than a winner. Boomer isn’t happy about a tweet from WIP. Artemi Panarin’s PP goal was the winner as the Rangers swept the Capitals. In the final segment of the hour, Gio shares how he was a guest bartender during the Knicks game and the crowd was awesome while Boomer discusses final preparations for the bike race this Sunday.
Hour 2
Gio asks Boomer if he’d rather see the Hurricanes have a long series against the Islanders or win game 5 and have a similar amount of time off as the Rangers. Boomer points out that the favorites are dominating in the Eastern Conference playoffs as the Islanders will try to buck that trend. Boomer and Gio can’t wait to see how the Garden crowd treats Embiid tomorrow. Nick Nurse, Joel Embiid and the Sixers have classic loser’s mentality. This is a throwback series because of how much these teams dislike each other. Gio says Richard Jefferson is a clear Knicks hater on the broadcast but Boomer isn’t so sure. CLo returns for an update and starts with Jalen Brunson giving credit to his teammates defense rather than his offense in Sunday’s win. Brunson has Boomer so excited he’s thinking about Mark Messier. Kevin Durant and the Suns got swept. The Rangers are onto round 2. Would Boomer go to an Islanders playoff game? Mark Vientos walked it off for the Mets. In the final segment of the hour, the guys discuss how Knicks and Rangers fans traveled well in the first round.
Hour 3
Daniel Jones will be the Giants starter this season. Gio says he’s prepared for the situation because of the uncertainty he dealt with before proving himself in 2022. Boomer and Gio agree that the Giants will need a little more leadership from Jones this season. They could end up in QB no-man’s land after this year. CLo returns for an update but first we hear from a caller who admits to Boomer he was wrong last week. Jalen Brunson commented on the crowd and Tom Thibodeau got back on track after almost sounding like he was taking a victory lap too early. Mark Vientos walked-it off for the Mets. The Yankees scored 15 runs for the second game in a row and Aaron Judge homered in both games. In the final segment of the hour, we wonder if Daniel Jones can win comeback player of the year this NFL season. The Rangers have what it takes to win.
Hour 4
It’s natural for Knicks and Rangers fans to think ahead right now. The Bucks are dealing with injuries so it looks like the Pacers will advance. Boomer expects to see Filip Chytil back for the Rangers in the second round. We get more details of how Knicks fans took over Philly but did they cross a line? Boomer has some big show announcements. He has extended his contract with Audacy, our agreement with CBS Sports Network has been extended and Boomer has stepped away from The NFL Today. Boomer thanks all of the people he worked with over the years. CLo returns for his final update of the morning and starts with the Knicks fans getting very loud when Joel Embiid missed a big free throw late in the game. Gio is a big fan of Anthony Edwards and sees shades of Michael Jordan in Ant-Man’s game. Colts GM Chris Ballard ranted about sources who anonymously rip the character of players in the pre-draft process. New Giants QB likes to refer to himself in the third person.

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo had trouble pronouncing Rome Odunze. The Moment of The Day involves Gio comparing CBS Sports Radio’s Andrew Perloff to something you would see outside of a car dealership.
