  • 127 - Lebanon Transit Authority Reveals Revamped Bus Services Tailored to Community Needs

Lebanon County – The Lebanon Transit Authority (LTA) is set to implement significant changes to its bus services across Lebanon County, aiming to adapt to community needs and foster increased ridership. The adjustments come after a thorough local transit study conducted in October 2022 and public input sessions in June 2023, as the LTA responds to the evolving landscape of the county.

In the 2022-2023 period, city ridership reached 45,000, county ridership stood at 32,000, student ridership reached 4,200, and free rides for seniors totaled 55,000. Despite these figures, overall ridership has not rebounded to pre-pandemic levels, prompting the LTA to reassess and improve its services.

Route changes and updates, detailed on the LTA website (https://lebanontransit.org/changes/), are designed to align with areas of recent development in the county. One notable change is the elimination of the casino route, a decision made to streamline services and enhance efficiency.

The adjustments were shaped by valuable insights from a customer survey conducted during the aforementioned study. According to the survey, customers expressed general satisfaction with the bus service, operators, and prices. However, there were concerns about the frequency of weekend services and the absence of night services. The survey also revealed that the majority of riders are working-age adults and older individuals, with half of them having annual incomes below $25,000.

Mike Ritter, who recently joined the LTA, shared how these changes are not just about reconfiguring routes; they reflect the commitment of the LTA to being responsive to the community's development and cultivating new ridership. They want to explore new places and extend their services to meet the needs of the people they serve.

While specifics about the transit study and public input sessions are not available, the LTA encourages residents to visit their website for comprehensive information. Looking ahead, the LTA aspires to expand its services to more areas, including parts of ELCO, providing an even broader coverage for the residents of Lebanon County.

  • 125 - Avoid scams with this simple tactic

Lately, I've noticed an increasing number of clients sharing messages they've received from scammers claiming that their social media accounts are blocked or that they're receiving various spam emails. Over the years, I've developed an eye for identifying scammers and methods to verify the legitimacy of emails and messages I receive. The most effective way to determine if an email or message is legitimate is to examine its source. With emails, you can always check who the sender is. If the email is from an unaffiliated source, even if it appears legitimate, do not click! Scammers have become adept at designing deceptive emails that mimic authenticity. The same applies to social media. If you visit the profile of the person or organization notifying you that your business is being blocked from social media, do not believe them if you notice that the account is not associated with Facebook, even if it seems otherwise, and do not click on any links they send. Scammers will attempt to deceive you into believing there's an issue with your account and may ask you to take actions that could lead to hacking. It's crucial to avoid this at all costs. So the next time you receive a message from a scammer that appears to be from a legitimate source, take the time to investigate further. You'll likely discover it's just a hacker attempting to make your life miserable. #AvoidScams #StopScams #CyberSecurity

  • 124 - Everyone wants in when it comes to airport lounges

Airport lounges are becoming more popular becuase of the complimentary food, drinks, and the opportunity to relax.

There is a problem with this, many of other travelers want the same. What once was a pleassure only select fews could have, has become the destination of millions of travelers who have gained access due to large credit card spending and accumulated points that have given more and more people access to this “elite experience”.

For those who are top frequent flyers and credit card holders, having access to the lounges has become more of a pain than a pleassure, giving companies like Delta Airlines difficulties on how they approach the travel business experience of luxury for their top customers. The meassures from airlines have gone as far as stripping some credit cards with access to the special lounges given the high demand for these over the years.

Delta, United Airlines and American Airlines are racing to build more lounges and spaces and larger ones to fit high demand.

Because of the increased demand now credit card issuers want to make sure they do everything they can to keep their high spending customers happy by providing the best travel experience as one of the perks that come with spending thousands of dollars each year.

Some of the credit card issuers are creating other means by which some of their customers can have a similar experience without having all the special perks that some of the lounges provide.
