Magical Realism

This year's course is an extended exploration of the Genre of Magical Realism - today we embark on that journey by looking at some associated artistic genres, in particular surrealism in visual art - and then we start to read our core text, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, with a particular focus on the narrator, Death.
