Who better than the story teller himself TOM T HALL  to start things off about what he loves?  BOB LUMAN,  CHARLIE RICH  and FARON YOUNG  tell it  in a different way. BILL ANDER SON  and DOLLY had smash hits about love. I believe you're gonna love RODNEY CARRINGTON  as well as JERRY REED'S and to cap it all off you'll hear ELVIS and BARBRA STREISAND in a duet that believe it or not was done after ELVIS  died.  Hope you enjoy. Everybody from  ROGER MILLER to ERNEST TUBB had a song about drinkin. WILLY NELSON, BRAD PAISLEY, MERLE HAGGARD, SHELLY WEST , TOM T HALL ,DAVE DUDLEY, JIM ED BROWN, DAVID FRIZZELL and one of my favorites by an artist named JOE NICHOLS  sings "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off".Duets with ALLEN JACKSON and JIMMY BUFFET, TOM T and DAVE DUDLEY are a real hoot. How often do we think about our yesterdays? On this show I guess I'm thinkin about what guys would think, like when  TOBY KEITH sings  "I SHOULDA  BEEN A COWBOY.  ALLEN JACKSON, ROY CLARK, RAY PRICE, HANK WILLIAMS, CHARLIE LOUVIN, GRANDPA JONES, EARNIE FORD, ARCHIE CAMPBELL , and even GENE AUTRY  might help you have memories of the good ole yesterdays of our lives. There was a time in our radio music history when the "Stars" of radio were hard pressed to find new material. New York ultimately was not the answer. Of course people were clamouring for something new every week. Where did the artists finally turn to?  You guessed it my friends. Country was the answer for taking the "POP" stars to a whole new level. You will be surprised at the who's who that made the transition.  And then, there's the one shot deal like the great guitarist CHET ATKINS with his smash hit singing debut. I suppose i should list all those that I"m sharing with you today but hey,,,,, give a listen and enjoy the surprise,,, and for some, a walk down memory lane.

Who are, or gained the reputation of being "Outlaws"in the country music world? Well,,, there's Waylon and Willie, Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Cash, George Jones  and Kris Kristofferson. Then you could possibly add Sammi Smith to the list. And so,,, I've gathered them all together for this show plus a few more . By the way,,,,,, some of them got together and called themselves The Highwaymen, for a special album. That would be Willie, Kris, Johnny and Waylon. I've been pretty fortunate in my lifetime in country music to have shared the stage with so many that over the years have become my friends. It saddens me that so many have passed away however the adventures and the memories stay with me to enjoy in reflection. Some of these friends are with me today on MY Good Ole Country. I got to thinking that in these troubled times many of my listeners could sure use a smile, particularly if you live in a part of our country that has endured winter storms. So,,,,, I put together ROGER MILLER, RAY STEVENS, LONZO and OSCAR, and even JOHNNY CASH. And Johnny,  in my opinion, sings one of the funniest songs he's ever done. I think you'll smile when you hear the meaning of "SOME BEACH" along with JERRY REED  as well as TIM McGRAW"S take on divorce. Its not always a question of who wrote it. Tdays songs were written and performed by multiple artists like  FARON YOUNG, HANK WILLIAMS,and ROY DRUSKY to name a few. I'm thinking it was Valentines Day that got me thinking about today show in particular. In our country music history there has been so many different ways that love has been expressed so I did a lot of soul searching in hopes that I could get a cross section that included many of the aspects of this thing called love. CONWAY TWITTY, WAYLON JENNINGS , MERLE HAGGARD, MARTY ROBBINS, HANK WILLAMS, ALABAMA, LORETTA LYNN and even ELVIS, all came to mind. So my friends, it is my fondest hope that you will enjoy listening to, and perhaps wonder as I do,,,,,,, Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes ?

I think you'll truly enjoy Glen Campbell , Hank Cochrane, Eddy Arnold,Merle Haggard, George Strait, Burl Ives, Patsy cline, and even me and Roger Miller. Lots more including a very rare duet by Patsy Cline and Willy Nelson. The real eye opener is who wrote so many of their great hits. One man in particular stands out and I tell you about him.  I'm not sure that all these songs are patriotic but they all resonate feelings that in some way relate to our soldiers, our military men and women and how the song writers felt about them when they wrote the songs. JOHNNY HORTIN'S "Sink the Bismarc,  BARRY SADLER'S,"Ballad of The Green Berets, TOBY KIETH, FARON YOUNG, TENILLE, JOHNNY CASH, KENNY ROGERS, TRACY LAWRENCE, BILLY RAY CYRUS and hey, even BLAKE EMMONS . All performing hits that reference a bit about our history and our soldiers at war.

So many requests to fill over the years and it sure is difficult to pick and choose because there's so much I totally love about Bluegrass music. There's no way that there is enough time in an hour to play everything I want to but  ,,,, hope you enjoy BILL MONROE & THE BLUEGRASS BOYS,,, ,FLATT and SCRUGGS, JIMMY ROGERS, THE OSBOURNE BROTHERS,  JIM &JESSE , THE LILLY BROTHERS and much more.. My friends, this episode was quite a challenge for me.  WARNER MACK, MICKEY GILLEY , JERRY LEE LEWIS, C.W. McCAUL, OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN , and to my way of thinking , the Queen of country music, LORETTA LYNN , all passed away in 2022. 
Lots of memories for me as I played their music and shared some of my adventures .
I've opened my podcast with one final song of this special season with a performance by JOSH GROBAN who in my opinion if he ever decides to cut a country album, it's a cinch to hit platinum.
Meanwhile,  GEORGE STRAIT with twin fiddles and steel guitar and his performance of "Heartland" is something I can truly relate to. Hope you can too.

I was talking with a close friend yesterday , mainly about Christmas plans when she asked if I had  completed  my  Christmas Album project and I regretfully answered no. We had a burst water pipe in the studio at Big Mamma so we were forced to shut down. The long and short of it is, she convinced me to go ahead and release what we had done so far, on my podcast. And so my friends, without further adieu , it is my fondest hope that you will enjoy what I call MY PERSONAL CHRISTMAS. It's simply me, presenting my favorite Christmas tunes along with some personal reflections on what Christmas means to me. Well my friends, here we are in December and in Nipawin Saskatchewan we've had several feet of snow so I got to thinking about how many songs we have that aren't Christmas songs that relate to the cold and winter. So Give a listen to MERLE HAGGARD, JIM REEVES, BILL MONROE, EMMYLOU HARRIS AND ALLISON KRAUSE, GARTH BROOKS AND CARRIE UNDERWOOD. They all have a song  having to do with the snow and the cold. I've included a special song from my dearest friend Bob McGrath who passed away December 4th.

For all our true dyed in the wool country fans , I truly believe you're gonna love this one as much as I enjoyed putting it together. The more I researched, the more I came to believe that this artist, Jimmy Rogers, was the most influential in the early times and  even to this day, the most influential in making country music what it is today. HANK SNOW, ERNEST TUBB, TOM T HALL, JACK GREENE, LEFTY FRIZZELL , MERLE HAGGARD and CAL SMITH  are all in todays show attesting to the fact . Of course I've got JIMMY ROGER'S originals here too. Take a walk way down memory lane my friends. I think you'll hear what I mean. Life is good.

While visiting with friends and looking at email requests I am pleased to present some of the great country songs of the sixties. It was impossible to put them all in to one show because frankly after researching the hits of that era I got the feeling that the sixties were indeed the "Golden Era" of country music. So my friends, I simple picked what I thought might bring ya'll back to the 60's with the country stars that had smash hits of the time. ROGER MILLER, PATSY CLINE, MARTY ROBBINS, SKEETER DAVIS, BUCK OWENS, EDDIE ARNOLD, GEORGE JONES, JACK GREENE and even WALTER BRENNAN held down the number one spot on the country charts and also the pop charts. I was blessed in my career to have shared time in the sixties with them. Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane. 

WILLY NELSON kicks our show off with "ON THE ROAD AGAIN"which sets the theme of traveling songs. JOHN DENVER gives us "COUNTRY ROADS" . JERRY REID IS "EAST BOUND AND DOWN" and ROGER MILLER is "KING OF THE ROAD". This was  one  of the most challenging shows I've done. Shortly after I had begun putting the show together I got a phone call that just tore me up. A family member called to inform me of the passing of my dear friend LORETTA LYNN.  I already had  GEORGE STRAIT and ALAN JACKSON , JOSH TURNER AND WIL ARDEL  doing what they do best  but the call brought me to a standstill. But,,,,, the show must go on as is often said, so I took a deep breath and proceeded to share my fondest memories of my true friend Loretta. On an even closer to my heart note I shared with you the story of a heartbreaking loss to our Wounded Warriors , the passing of our friend and sister Irene Purcell. BOBBY HELMS "My Special Angel" and GARTH BROOKS presentation of "Unanswered Prayers" pretty much summed up my thoughts for todays show.  For all my Canadian listeners , have a Blessed Thanksgiving .

In my  career I was truly blessed to have been afforded the opportunity to work with some of the great entertainers of our time. So,,,,, I thought I'd play the music of some of those memorable artist that I got to tour with. DEL REEVES, JEAN SHEPHERD, JEANIE SEELY, JEANIE C RILEY, LEROY VAN DYKE, JACK GREENE, JIM ED BROWN, and BILLY RAY CYRUS to name a few. There sure is a lot of ways to look at "Cheatin",,,,,, and so I've gathered up just a small portion of some of the greats performing some of the greatest songs based on the cheating aspect of life. Who better than HANK WILLIAMS Cheatin Heart to kick things off. Fast forward to TOBY KEITH wishing he didn't know now what he didn't know then. NAT STUCKEY  wrote and performed "Sweet Thang" which was a smash hit but then  Loretta 
got together with Earnest Tubb and made it even more personal. RANDY TRAVIS sings about "Why I Cheat"and Reba McIntire  asks "Does He Love You" . MERLE HAGGARD  has a great take on "the way love goes " and  KITTY WELLS sings about her Back Street Affair. Lots more stories my friends. Please be sure to share with someone ya love.

Its that special time of year when we celebrate the fall harvest. So many of our artists perform their homage to our farm heritage. You'll hear about "John Deer Green" and "international harvester"  to name a couple. JOHN DENVER, MERLE HAGGARD, MARTY STEWART, all weigh in with different views of country farm life.and CRAIG MORTEN sings about a " Son of a 3rd generation farmer". I'm thinkin you'll particularly enjoy PAUL HARVEY as he tells the story of why "God Made a Farmer. There's so much more to reflect on including a flashback with LITTLE JIMMY DICKENS. There are so many songs about love in our country music world and it was an enjoyable challenge for me to choose my favorites. Guys,,,,,, you're gonna love the song that says "I want you to love me like my dog does". Its a masterpiece. Tom T  Hall, the story teller, sings about all the simple things he loves, and Jerry Reed tells you the difference between the Gold Mine and the Shaft. Elvis is here too and there's also a very , very rare duet with none other than Elvis and of all people, Barbara Streisand. Charlie Rich and Faron are also here my friends. We have juast completed two incredible weeks at Camp Independence 1 on Tobin Lake and Camp Independence 2 at Meadow Lake. What a joy it was for me to meet our Wounded Warriors and to have the opportunity to share our stories with one another. i'm also pleased that the greater percentage of them shared my love of traditional country music. Therefore, by their requests . most of todays music is by request. Thank you Saskatchewan and all our listeners who have made all this possible.

When you have listened to country music over the years I think you will find references to a lot of cities that you're not familiar with. And then,,,, here comes a song that everyone relates to. During my recovery period I had lots of time to think of everything I could think about country music, its stars and what who was singing about. And then,,,,,,, SHAZAM,,,,, it hit me. Well its a new year my friends. I some times find it hard to believe that our Wounded Warriors Weekend Foundation will celebrate our 10th year in the summer of 2022. Of course i'll keep you posted on what we have planned. So many Nashville memories revolve around the Grand Ole Opry and the incredible artists I had the true pleasure to work and associate with. On todays show you'll hear from Jean Shepperd , Ferlin Husky , Johnny Cash ,Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow and a couple of real surprise stories about all these Grand Ole Opry stars. I got to thinking about what time of year it is and that would mean end of harvest time in so many parts of the country and now in the USA its Thanksgiving time. Over the past weeks I've been amazed at the long hours our famers work at this time of year so I couldn't help but pick some great music that relates. I could probably do 10 shows just to play all the songs Willie Nelson wrote that became monster hits by major artists in all genres of music. So,,, I was hard pressed to pick what to play for you and to share what I learned about how he came to write some of his greatest hits.. This was one of the most difficult shows I've put together mainly because it reflects on the most recent artists we have lost , and in some instances due to the Covid Pandemic.
