A creditable performance, but Forest missed their chances and the champions took theirs. Goals by Gvardiol and Haaland saw the points go to Manchester, but the general consensus was that the Reds did ok. As predicted, it has been one heck of a week for Forest fans, with the defeat at Goodison followed by THAT tweet, and the ensuing fallout. The key fact is that Forest lost a relegation six-pointer, to two long range goals. The underlying facts are that there were three clear penalty shouts waved away, including (at least) one where the ref clearly got it wrong but VAR chose not to correct him. The headlines go to the club's tweet on the full-time whistle, which accuses PGMOL of bias and suggests that the club will explore their options, whatever that means. It definitely felt like two points dropped, despite the Reds actually scoring from a corner, and fighting back from conceding a poor goal to take the lead. The old Achilles heel of set pieces hit us again as the defence failed to defend and the keeper could have done more. In the end, it was honours even and no-one was really happy. In reality, the best team won, although it was a match that seemed to hang on a series of incidents: Murillo's own goal, Chris Wood's miss, Maddison's punch and Spurs' half-time subs. 45 minutes of heaven, followed by 45 minutes of hell - however, Forest scored three goals in the first period and withstood the Fulham offensive in the second half, to earn a welcome three points and make up for the points deducted due to the PSR breach. The first half was probably the best we have seen from the Reds, with good goals from Hudson-Odoi, Wood and Gibbs-White, who recreated the Forza Garibaldi banner with his fingers-in-ears celebration. A draw wasn't the result that we wanted, but was enough to pull the Reds out of the relegation zone on goal difference. It could have been so much worse as a tepid first half performance drew the ire of the fans, but the introduction of Gio Reyna on 60 minutes brought instant dividends, as the young American fed Morgan Gibbs-White, who in turn played it into the box where Chris Wood's clever header drew Forest level. For the second time in a few days, a promising display by the Reds but a controversial late winner - but the way that this one went in makes Wednesday's goal look just fine. Well, that felt good didn't it? The sporting weekend was overshadowed by the sudden and tragic death of Panthers forward Adam Johnson, and all of us here at 1865 send our condolences to Adam's nearest and dearest. The billionaires of Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest as £100m Antony and £80m Casemiro shone for the visitors. It was the Brazilian winger who took the headlines as he scored one and made one, and provided threat from the wing, while £70m Bruno Fernandes also peppered the Forest goal. A change in formation and personnel, but the same old result. Following a reasonable showing in the first half, a moment of madness from Jonjo Shelvey gifted a goal to Bertrand Traore. The Reds (yellows) were up against it from that moment on; substitutions were unsuccessful, and the misery was compounded when Forest went down to ten men after using all their subs. Forest took an early lead at Elland Road but after that never really laid a glove on a resurgent Leeds side. A stoppage-time penalty from Alexander Isak saw the Reds fall to their first home defeat since October, and record consecutive Premier League defeats. Another bad away day for the Reds, who were lucky that VAR ruled in their favour after just three minutes, but still fell to another thrashing, this time at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.
