We have the great pleasure of interviewing Coach Anthony Martinez of Hybrid Academy, a top-notch training facility in Orange, CA specializing in Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, and Wrestling. Coach Anthony Martinez, aka Coach Ant, at just 30 years old has already garnered a huge grassroots following of students wanting to learn the sweet science of boxing. Prior to coaching, Martinez was Ronny Rios stablemate under the tutelage of Coach Hector Lopez. Coach Ant was also instrumental in preparing Luis Ramos Jr in his 2012 Showtime Boxing fight against Raymundo Beltran. The panel gives our post-fight reaction to Canelo Alvarez's clear-cut, unanimous decision victory over challenger Jermell Charlo. The fight took place Saturday night, Sept 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was clearly Canelo's night as he cut off Charlo's movement, landing power shots at ease, and even dropping Charlo with a straight right in the 7th Round. The official judges had it 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109.

Episode 77 marks our 1st session for 2022! We discuss Mark Magsayo's (24-0, 16 KO) Majority Decision victory over a limited Gary Russell Jr (31-2, 18 KO) to become the new WBC featherweight champion. We also react to Terence Crawford's recent lawsuit against his former promoter Bob Arum/Top Rank. Lastly, we provide an early preview of upcoming fights later this Spring 2022!

The lightweight division seems to be at a stalemate after Teofimo Lopez lost his unified championship status to George Kambosos Jr. Even with that pivotal win for Kambosos, the more recognizable names are still trying to make their case as being that top guy in the division. Devin Haney and Gervonta Tank Davis both hold the regular versions of Kambosos' recently won WBC and WBA titles. Vasiliy Lomachenko has recently been on a rebound campaign with his dominant wins against Richard Commey and Masayoshi Nakatani. Whoever first secures the fight, Kambosos will insist that the unification match be held in his home turf of Australia.

In Episode 75, we give our post-fight reaction to the 11/20/2021 welterweight championship fight between reigning WBO champion, top pound 4 pound star Terence "Bud" Crawford and former two-time welterweight champion Shawn "Showtime" Porter. On that Saturday night, in front of the sold-out crowd at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Mandalay Bay Las Vegas, Crawford ended the show with a 10th Round TKO over Porter. After seeing Crawford put down Porter twice in the same decisive round, Kenny Porter decided to call off the fight at the 1-minute 21-second mark. What's the next stage in Crawford's career after the likely separation from Top Rank? Is there still hope for Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence being made? All that and more are discussed!

In Episode 74, we review the 11/6/2021 Super Middleweight championship fight between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant. Plant was the remaining belt holder at 168, being the final obstacle in
Canelo's quest to become the 1st ever undisputed super middleweight champion. At Round 11, after adjusting to Plant's slickness and rhythm, Canelo would score two knockdowns prompting referee Russell Mora to stop the fight at 1 minute 5-second mark. Canelo now becomes the 1st ever undisputed super middleweight champion, joining the likes of other undisputed fighters in the 4-belt era, such as Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, and Josh Taylor. What's next for Canelo in an already illustrious boxing career?

In the latter part of EP 74, we preview the welterweight showdown between 3-division champion Terence Bud Crawford and two-time welterweight champion Shawn "Showtime" Porter.
Crawford will be defending his WBO title for the 5th time against the #2 ranked WBO contender
in Porter.

Post-fight reaction to Saturday 10/9/2021 night's trilogy between Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) vs Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs).

The third affair was all-action that yielded 5 knockdowns between the top two heavyweights. Wilder scored 2 of those knockdowns in round 4. Round 11 is when Tyson would seal the victory with a pair of knockdowns, the latter being delivered by a blitzing right cross. Referee Russell Mora stopped the fight 1 minute, 10 seconds left in the round.

In Episode 70, we review the 8/21/2020 Welterweight championship between 8-division titlist Manny Pacquiao and bronze 2008 Olympian from Cuba Yordenis Ugas. Ugas would successfully defend his Super WBA title via unanimous decision. We break down the key factors in Ugas' victory as well as speculate on the fight indeed being Pacquaio's last career outing.

The week prior, was the all-action fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr (18-0, 18 KOs) and
Egidijus "Mean Machine" Kavaliauskas (22-2-1, 18 KOs). From the opening bell, Kavaliauskas made it a dog fight against Vergil, who almost scored an official knockdown in the 2nd Round.
Ortiz Jr would eventually steer the momentum away from Mean Machine, scoring 5 knockdowns, 4 of which came in the deciding 8th round leading to the TKO victory. We discuss Ortiz's comeback win against Kavaliauskas.

In this extracted segment from Episode 69, we preview the upcoming 9/25/2021 Heavyweight Championship match between unified champion Anthony Joshua (WBA Super, WBO, IBF, IBO) and former Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk. What type of challenges does the smaller, arguably more skillful Usyk pose against Joshua?

In Episode 69, we review the undisputed junior middleweight fight between Jermell Charlo (WBC, WBA, IBF) and Argentina's Brian Castano (WBO), which ended in a Split Draw Decision. We also react to the lone disputed score of 117-111, in favor of Jermell Charlo, by judge Nelson Vazquez.

Will Montero from www.sidestepboxing.com joins the staff as special guest panelist for Episode 43!  This is a Heavyweight division centric episode as we review Deontay Wilder vs Luis Ortiz 2 and give our final preview of Andy Ruiz Jr vs Anthony Joshua.2.

In Episode 42, we review the action packed WBSS finale between Bantamweights Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire.  With the unanimous decision victory, Inoue unifies both IBF and WBA titles.  Although all 3 judges had it for Inoue, it was not a landslide victory for Inoue.  Donaire gave Inoue arguably his toughest fight of his career, imposing his power and handspeed.  We assess the performances of both fighters.

We also touch upon Top Ranks household Super Featherweights in Miguel Berchelt and Jamel Herring.  Both men had separate fights 1 week apart in early November.  Berchelt made his 6th defense of his WBC title over Jason Sosa via 4th round KO.  Week later, Herring defended his WBO title against fellow American Lamont Roach via decision.  We take a look at a possible unification match between the two champions.

Later into the episode, we discuss Devin Haney's performance in his undercard fight for KSI vs Logan Paul and provide our late review of Canelo vs Kovalev.

In Episode 41, we bring the tricks and treats out as we review the WBSS Junior Welterweight Final between Regis Prograis vs Josh Taylor.  Taylor defated Prograis by majority decison (114-114, 115-113, 117-112) in this possible FOY candidate.  We assess what went right for Taylor and what went wrong for Prograis in this unification battle.

Later in the episode, we react to Shakur Stevenson's virtually dominant win over Joet Gonzalez.  With UD victory, Stevenson wins the vacant WBO Featherweight title (previously vacated by Oscar Valdez).  We preview what's possibly next for the newly crowned featherweight champion.

Lastly, we provide our final preview of the upcoming megafight between Canelo Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev.

In Episode 40, we review the fights of Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Errol Spence Jr vs Shawn Porter.  Despite Derevyanchenko's valiant efforts, Golovkin successfully defended his IBF Middleweight title by way of UD Decision, with 2 judges scoring it 115-112 and a 3rd with 114-113.  To mostly everyone's surprise, Derevyanchenko made the match-up a very tough fight for Golovkin with his countering, combinations to the body, and high rate of jabs.  Golovkin stayed the course as he landed a high percentage of power shots, one of which knocked down Derevyanchenko in the opening round.  We give our assessment of the fight as well as our thoughts on Golovkin's shaky dominance in the Middleweight division.

We also react to the news of Errol Spence Jr's unfortunate car accident that occured in the early AM hours in his hometown Dallas.  How will he fare in his 1st fight since the accident?

Rising welterweight prospect Blair "The Flair" Cobbs (12-0-1, 8 KO) joins the podcast as our special guest for Episode 39!  Coming off a hard fought win over Steve Villalobos last August, Cobbs has set his sights on bigger fights in the very near future.  We discuss what's in store for The Flair, his rocky journey to becoming a fighter, and more!

We review the following fights: Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde and Vasyl Lomachenko vs Luke Campbell.  Yarde put up a valiant effort against Kovalev, as he almost had the esteemed veteran on his last legs by the end of Round 9.  Kovalev, with experience on his side, turned the tables around by Round 10 and resumed to punish the energy depleted Yard with piston jabs.  Eventually, Kovalev would KO Yarde in the 11th with a counter jab.  The panel assesses the performances of both fighters as well as their next steps in their respective careers.  Does Kovalev go for the big payday in facing Canelo Alvarez or unify with one of the other champions in the Light Heavyweight division?

Like Kovalev, Vasyl Lomachenko had a game opponent of his own in Luke Campbell in their 12 round showdown.  Campbell made it a highly competitive fight for Lomachenko as he was able to stun The Matrix in some of the exchanges.  However, Lomachenko would prove to be too skillful as he hurt Campbell multiple times to the body leading to him taking a knee in the 11th.  Lomachenko now wins his 3rd belt in his 4th weight class.  How further can Lomachenko go in the Lighweight division as the likes of Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, and Richard Commey make more buzz?

In Episode 37, we review the WBA Welterweight Championship fight between Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman.  At age 40, Pacquiao displayed one of this year's best all around boxing performances.  A jab knockdown in the 1st round and a piercing body shot in the 10th were Pacquiao's biggest highlights from the PBC PPV event.  In the early rounds, Thurman had trouble with Pacquiao's deceptive jab, which made him vulnerable to follow up attacks such as the Filipino's straight left and hooks to the body.  Halfway into the match, Thurman capitalized on Pacquiao's fatigue to better time his jabs and counter right hand.  Thurman's late momentum wasn't enough to overshadow Pacquiao's standout rounds in the 1st and 10th and competitive rounds that the judges awarded the Senator.

We also remember the recent passing of Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker and Maxim Dadashev.  

Lastly, we preview Maurice Hooker vs Jose Ramirez as they unify their 140 lb titles (WBO, WBC).

In Episode 36, light flyweight sensation Seniesa "Super Bad" Estrada (17-0, 7 KOs) joins us for a very special interview!  After her recent June victory at The Avalon Hollywood on Golden Boy DAZN Thursday Night Fights, Seniesa has set her sights on winning major world titles in and around her division.  Specifically, we get her thoughts her current champion peers in her division, namely Yesenia Gomez and Kenia Enriquez.  We also discuss with Seniesa her close knit bond with her father Joe Estrada and more!

Just recently, the WBC implemented its new Franchise Champion title.  The organization bestowed the title in the Middleweight division to Canelo Alvarez.  With the new designation, Jermall Charlo replaces Canelo as the full WBC Middleweight Champion without Canelo having to be stripped of the title on record.  What are the further implications of this action taken by the WBC?  The panel provides their insight on the controversy surrounding the WBC's new "title".

In Episode 33, we review Middleweight championship fight between Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs, which took place at the T-Mobile Arena on 5/4/2019.  After winning the fight by unanimous decision, Canelo now holds 5 titles at Middleweight (WBC, WBA, The Ring, and IBF).  Does this put Canelo at #1 on the pound 4 pound rankings?  Where does Jacobs go from here?  We address those questions and more in this episode!

In Episode 32, we review Terence Crawford's dominant win over Amir Khan in their Welterweight championship fight that happened April 20th in Madison Square Garden.  Did Khan "quit" in the 6th round to avoid further onslaught from Crawford?  Crawford is now 3-0 in his current division at 147, successfully defending his WBO title for the 2nd time.  Given the lackluster ending for a PPV event, Bob Arum will have some challenges making future PPV fights for Crawford that don't involve Errol Spence Jr.  We also review the Womens Middleweight unification championship fight between Claressa Shields and Christina Hammer.  We assess Shields performance in capturing all the titles in the Middleweight division.

Keith "One Time" Thurman and Josesito "The Riverside Rocky" Lopez provided fireworks in their 1/26/2019 fight on PBC on Fox. It was also Thurman's comeback fight from a near 2 year layoff. In that time, he relinquished his WBC title, got married, and underwent elbow surgery. In episode 29, we review Thurman's hard fought victory over Lopez to retain his (Super) WBA Welterweight title.  We also take a look at Sergey Kovalev's impressive rebound victory against Eleider Alvarez in their light heavyweight rematch.  Anthony Saldana, lead writer for Supreme Boxing Inc and co-host of Beat The Count podcast, joins us as special guest panelist.
