Tue, 12 Dec 2023 - 46min - 200 - 190. What IS podcast management?
During the episode, I also shed light on the differences between a podcast editor, producer, and manager. While a podcast editor focuses solely on editing the audio, a podcast manager takes on a more comprehensive role, handling various tasks related to producing and promoting the show. The term "producer" can sometimes be used interchangeably with "manager" and often implies a more hands-on approach in the creative process.
As a podcast manager, you have the opportunity to provide additional services like video editing, YouTube management, and even pitching your client to be a guest on other shows. The podcast management field offers room for growth and specialization.
By diversifying your skill set, you can provide valuable support to your clients while creating new revenue streams for your own business. If you're considering transitioning from being a virtual assistant or a podcast editor to a podcast manager, there are a few factors to consider. Are you someone who enjoys the details and the creative aspect of working on a podcast? Do you find fulfillment in being part of a team and assisting your clients in growing their shows? If so, then marketing yourself as a podcast manager can open up a world of possibilities for personal and professional growth.
In this episode, we cover:
-What is podcast management?
-The importance of podcast managers in the podcast industry
-The primary services a podcast manager offers to their clients
-The key difference between a podcast manager and a podcast editor
-Assessing your fit for podcast management based on your preferences and skills
-How important is it for podcasters to have support in managing the details of their show
-and, The business growth potential for podcast managers, including becoming a podcast coach

EPISODE 182
If there is one thing I talk to my students about on a regular basis it is processes. The reason I talk about processes so much is because of our collective desire to run businesses that give us peace and not chaos, so that we can have consistent work and consistent pay and therefore show up big in the other places of our lives. So, it was a no-brainer to bring on Melissa Morris, the founder of Agency Authority, a project management and operations consultancy, to talk about this exact topic. In this chat with Melissa, we talked about how we have this natural tendency to over-deliver, how we can use automation to our benefit, the importance of proper onboarding, and establishing clear client processes, communication, and boundaries. We also discuss how creating systems and operations in your podcast management business gives you more time, more money and increased emotional capacity to spend where you want.
Melissa Morris uses her ten years of agency experience to help business owners maximize their teams, increase their productivity, and grow their profits. Firmly committed to breaking the ‘long hours and bad pay’ stigma that plagues the agency world, she helps business owners, and their team members do the work they love without sacrificing client satisfaction, the bottom line, or their own sanity.
In this episode, we cover:

One thing I have noticed with so many successful podcast managers is that there is a turning point in their business when things really start to flow. EPISODE 176
Today I want to tackle a question that was sent in by one of you, which is “How do I justify increasing my prices when the workload is the same?”. My preferred way to raise prices is when the workload changes, but sometimes there are reasons to increase your rates when things haven’t really changed. In today’s episode I’ll talk about determining the “why” behind wanting to raise your rates (and why it matters), how to determine if you should raise your rates on a set schedule, and of course, how to justify increasing your prices when the workload hasn’t really changed. Spoiler alert - even if your workload hasn’t changed, the quality of the product you deliver could have (and probably should have) changed as you’ve learned more about being a podcast manager and gotten better at what you do.
In this episode, we cover:
-Determining your “why” when raising a price
-Should you be raising your prices/rates on a regular schedule?
-Being okay with the possibility that a price increase might result in losing a client
-When you shouldn’t raise your rates
-An easy way to check on your own improvement
-The justification for raising your prices - has the quality of the product gotten better?
