Today’s podcast: Did Israel attack Iran Thursday in retaliation for Iran's missile and drone strike against Israel. Israel is not saying and Iran claims drones launched from within its borders were shot down, thereby setting aside a requirement for the shooting by the two principal regional opponents to continue. Perhaps. Guest: Israel's Ambassador to Canada, Iddo Moed. In this week's federal budget the commitment by the Liberals and Justin Trudeau was made to build 4 million homes by 2031. Is that even remotely possible? Guest: Shane Wenzel. President/CEO of Shane Homes in Calgary. Shared with us last year that home buyers who had placed down payments on new homes were so financially stressed they were walking away from their under construction homes and willing to forfeit their deposits which Shane Wenzel was refunding his stressed buyers. Frontline Canadian doctors are fed up with being forced by government bureaucrats/bureaucracy into turning more money over to government (witness capital gains change in 2024 fed budget). Doctors letter writing campaign begins, led by our guest. Guest: Dr. David Edward-Ooi Poon. Family physician, Public Health and Preventative Medicine physician. Founder, Professional Corporation Advocates. Beginning letter-writing campaign by MDs. We talk Stanley Cup playoffs which begin tonight, leading to the opening game of the Stanley Cup final series on June 3. There is increased hope that a Canada-based NHL team will hoist the Stanley Cup. That has not happened since 1993, when the Montreal Canadiens, led by their Captain Guy Carbonneau won the final series against the Los Angeles Kings 4 games to 1, after having eliminated the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres and Quebec Nordiques, winning 16 games and losing only 3. Today’s podcast: Israel Defence Forces drone attack on World Central Kitchen aid convoy to Gaza resulted in deaths of seven WCK volunteers, including Canadian CAF veteran Jacob Flickinger. PM Trudeau publicly challenged Israeli PM Netanyahu and U.S. president Biden declared continued American support for Israel's war to eliminate Hamas is contingent on Israel taking real steps to protect aid workers. Israel has dismissed an IDF Colonel and Major engaged in the drone attack. Guest: Iddo Moed. Israel Ambassador to Canada. Last June, just weeks after economic circumstance forced a Kelowna, B.C. former small business owner to live in his car, this 60+ guest shared with us how difficult the transition to this kind of life was. We became curious, in the wake of Justin Trudeau's repeat housing funding announcements how our guest's reality had continued. Did he spend the winter living in his car? What are his prospects moving forward? Guest: Glen Peters, formerly identified as "Peter." That's what we called him on air last year. Today he will talk about the last 8 months of his life, which includes writing three books, all of which are gaining traction. However, his prospects for a more permanent rental dwelling remain questionable. Public Inquiry on Foreign Interference heard a week of witnesses and testimony. Guest: Kenny Chiu. Former CPC MP, Steveston - Richmond East, B.C. Testified before Inquiry Tuesday. --------------------------------------------- Host/Content Producer – Roy Green Technical/Podcast Producer – Tom Craig If you enjoyed the podcast, tell a friend! Sat, 06 Apr 2024 - 14351 - Apr 6: Abmassador Olexander Scherba, Ukraine military supplies running low.
While the world's current focus is on the Israel/Hamas war, Ukraine's war with Russia has entered its third year and news from Ukraine is that the country's military is running seriously low on war fighting equipment and munitions as the U.S. primarily is holding up a major arms shipment due to Republican/Democrat political infighting. NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg has floated a plan for a 100-billion Euro, 5-year weapons support plan for Ukraine prior to the U.S. national election in November. NATO is calling on all its members to live up to their 2% of GDP military spending commitment that Canada has already said we will not reach. While Ukrainian drones are now striking deep inside Russia, on the battlefields its military is facing operating with war equipment and mismatched ammunition. Meanwhile, French president Macron has not ruled out sending French ground troops into Ukraine to engage Russia there. Guest: Ambassador Olexander Scherba, from Kyiv. Toronto Chief of Police Myhron Demkiw's statement in reply included "The service will always respect the right to lawful assembly, which we have done, consistently since October 7"......"When individual behaviour crosses into criminality, endangering officers or the public we will enforce the law, as is our duty....."last weekend alone, police officers were assaulted, spit on, a police horse was struck, lawful orders not followed and demonstrators attempted to obstruct officers who were effecting arrests." The Toronto Police Association in its statement wrote officers have exercised patience, have been professional and opted to de-escalate situations while "officers have been threatened with injury or death." Today’s podcast: A majority of Canada's premiers calling on the Justin Trudeau federal government to forego the scheduled for April 1 increase in the federal carbon tax. Trudeau insists premiers are lying about the tax when they insist it will only add to the financial burdens Canadian families are experiencing. The parliamentary budget officer told us for a second or third time on air on February 25 the carbon tax Canadian middle class families will pay will not be made revenue neutral by federal government rebates. The tax appears integral to the rapidly diminishing national support for the Trudeau government among voters. Guest: Saskatchewan premier Scott Moe. Premier Moe on Wednesday appeared before the parliamentary Government Operations and Estimates committee. Professor Sylvain Charlebois (Dalhousie university Agri Foods lab director) posted that according to Statscan the average Canadian is spending less than $250.00 monthly on groceries, a 19% decrease since 2021. According to Dalhousie's Canada Food Price Report the average person should spend $339 per month on healthy food. Also: Charlebois also posted on Twitter/X that the only media reporting on federal environment minister Steven Guilbeault publicly misquoting him (Charlebois) in parliament as saying the carbon tax has no impact on rising food prices was done on our program. We will revisit. As well: Professor Charlebois wrote an op ed for Post Media arguing the "phenomenon of GLP-1 drugs, exemplified by the widespread use of Ozempic, is revolutionizing societal attitudes toward health and dietary habits." Lovie has been on day parole since 2019, but has for a year-plus been allowed to spend five nights a week in his own apartment near Sudbury, Ontario. The Edwards family remains very much afraid of Lovie and during his being AWOL was warned by police to put their safeguarding practices into play. Guests: Don and Tannis Edwards. We heard from CPC leader Pierre Poilievre on his 'axe the tax' national pre-election commitment yesterday and today, as well as BC premier David Eby characterizing Poilievre's challenge of the carbon tax as being from PP's "baloney factory." Global News: Calgary police investigate, recommend provincial review of domestic homicide This after a mother and wife was murdered near a Calgary elementary school. Her husband was found dead nearby. Police had been to the family residence several times and had had repeatedly charged the husband who was then released by the courts on a 'no contact' order. Criminal law professor Doug King says "a restraint order, a no-contact order was placed on him. He violated it twice. And each time he had violated it, he would have been before a judge again to look at his release. I question what was the logic behind releasing him out after his second violation."
